I have to say whoever was in charge of thinning our the items in the TP should get a raise. With one fell swoop the mystic forge will weed out all the low cost items clogging up the TP and give players some nice items in return; after much work and a few coins.
With all the negative talk you are getting lately it is nice to know you were on the ball with this one. After this weekend maybe my crafted items will sell for better than cost.
I did find one way to improvise with my (Range)r was to not use range. I instead am using a greatsword with the improved skill 2 and replaced my bear with a spider for the poison. It seems to be doing well enough at lower levels, but as my swap is the axe/warhorn for the call/speed It looks like my ranger is just an underachieving warrior at this point.
A warrior would be your overall easiest IMO. Now being able to walk over enemies is no indication of easy mode though, no matter the profession you will NEED to learn that avoidance (dodging and kiting) will give you much more bang for your buck.
world completion gets you account bound gifts. you dont need world complete on a toon to get a legendary
If this is true, I will jump (excuse the pun) for joy. I’m not doubting you, but can you confirm this?
Gifts of exploration (given at 100% map completion) are account bound.
Thank you x 1000, off to go level an engineer!!
Thanks to all that replied. I have taken into consideration what has been suggested and as such I will ONLY hire a mesmer after I have tried for at least a half an hour on the tougher ones. I just won’t concede the point of having an 85 percentile being considered a fail and although it isn’t 90% it would still be a passing grade anywhere.

Thanks for your reply Ursan; my only hope is that you never grow old enough to know what bad nerves are like. As for dungeons and other combat situations, I do well enough as pressing one key at a time is a far cry from having to judge/time out a distance over and over again. Btw dexterity according to Webster’s is the readiness and grace in physical activity; especially : skill and ease in using the hands <manual dexterity>.
edit: Nayru – other options and I have found one with the Mesmer suggestion. thanks.
That will be my only option I’m sure, fortunately I believe I have a few friend/contact Mesmers I could call on to help. Now I just have to figure out what to pay them
.
Nice idea that, but the legendary I want after world completion would hardly be noticeable on such a small frame. Now if world completion was account wide then I would be rolling up an Azura engineer after typing this!
IMO the vistas in the starting areas were sufficient to see the surrounding areas (most of these I have completed btw). Once you get into the higher level areas it almost seems that ANet was putting a deliberate roadblock in the way of some players ever getting the best skins. I realize that their are many bumps in the road to legendary, but none of them require the players to be as dexterous in order to complete.
edit: oh and IceBlink I have tuned off my double tap to dodge, I am just not dexterous enough to do anything over the most simplistic ones.

I appreciate your reply Katreyn, but even the best videos won’t help me to jump from one little plank to another (3 times) with no room for error. I don’t mind to much, but I think it would be much more fair to long time players to have alternate paths to the legendaries.
Vistas are simple? Try the ones in the eternal battlegrounds or cursed shores. But thanks for answering my question. I’ll just have to settle for not bothering with them…. anyone want to buy a few mystic clovers.
Ok I did a search for it, but couldn’t find the info I needed. So do I have to do all the Vistas in order to get world completion, and if so why? I plan on playing for a very long time, but I cannot complete any jumping puzzles beyond the most simple (even with guides). This is due to a mixture of poor reflexes and old age. So if I have to do these in order to complete the world it seems extremely unfair to rule me (and many others) out for a legendary ANY time down the road, Thanks.

There is so much they can add, and they come up with a gear treadmill? Come on Anet, you can do better than this.
^ This. I know you have many many talented artists on your team, leave the grind alone and just make new things to do. If some players want to grind they can make their legendary, get bored and move on to another MMO. As for us more casual players I say leave it alone and let us just enjoy the game for what it is.
edit: reading back on some of the suggestions offered, I truly hope ANet reads this one.

Yes, players wanted something to do at endgame., but this wasn’t it. Please just add content; many more DE’s, dungeons, landmasses, jumping puzzles etc. etc. to the game. Many of us have what we concluded was our final equipment and could now enjoy what was to come this is not what we wanted to come. BTW LotRO had a similar “radience” gear they scrapped because it was not only confusing but tended to make the elitist segregate the casuals. Please don’t do this to the game I prefer my MMO experience to be a friendly one.
Thank you, OP, for reminding me one of the reasons why I, as a PvE’er who has virtually no experience in any sort of PvP, have decided not to bother with world completion.
But of course, if I ever ventured into PvP either for world completion or just to try it out, I would be an “inferior” player and I would probably run away if I encountered a skilled (?) player that was intent on killing me. Why stay and let my character be slaughtered, would be my reasoning. We aren’t all awesome PvP’ers, y’know, and some of us know it even without getting our rear kicked. :P
^THIS. I too will most probably never have the gold star on any of my characters, and I believe this was one of things that ANet did wrong. As a solo player exploration was one of the major selling points for the PVE side of the game, but I must say with it being mandatory to explore WvWvW I’ll pass.
Keep defenders, the AI they put into these guys seems almost like a real person is controlling them.
I find that even at 80 I am spending time in some lower level zones now because of the karma pots. Orr doesn’t have the variety of creatures to get the daily so, I usually go to Gendarian Fields to gank a few critters. I say this because If, while there, I spot someone needing a hand or an open DE I will help. So I suppose the karma pots are one way that ANet is trying to get players to spread out a bit (even if only for a little while).
I never officially gave up on it. After seeing the vids on youtube and seeing the time limit I visited the tower then left. But seeing as their is no thread on “not good at these so I never bothered”, this thread will have to do.
Don’t feel bad, I am so horrible at them I only went in to see the tower in all it’s glory then left. Once I had the achievement to add to my Halloween events I didn’t need to do it. That said it is quite nice of ANet to exclude actually doing it in order to get the achievement and shows that even though they are twisted in their designs they are still human in their beliefs.
B.C. Lottery slogan = “Know your limit, play within it”
Makes sense to me. I spent 25 dollars on keys, knowing full well I was guaranteed a few boosters, tonics and a very rare chance at something special. Did I get it… NO, but I felt it was beyond generous to give us a second kick at the cat. Did I get it the second time around.. NO, but I’m not bitter. I came into it wanting to show support for an awesome company, and I succeeded.
I am very happy to see ANet is addressing this problem. It is just unfortunate that money needs to go to fighting these kitteny kittens (self censored) than going into more content for those of us that just want to play the game.
No church for this boy, I do however have to work till 3pm PST, so I’m out of luck. Well at least there’s Youtube.
Err, is this a pvp game?
Both of the new games features in Act 2 are. Kinda disappointed myself, I would have preferred a punkin shoot or something else to yet another WvW clone type game(s).
Thanks for this thread, being an older person I tend to forgo the jumping puzzles as I am told by my doctor to avoid stress … heh. As many threads today have told me though, this is one VERY tough puzzle and as such I may go to see what it looks like, but that will be it for this boy.
+1
I actually like this idea better than the costume wallet used in LotRO.
Well done and good work guys. The job you did on this holiday is, so far, nothing short of phenomenal and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
signed: grateful satisfied player.
So it is you I have to thank for my 6 bank expansions and new town cloths… thanks m8. BTW I’ll have another couple stacks for you soon, here’s hoping your luck improves; mine has.
Well maybe I am just more observant than some, but, when I open my map in LA I see candy corn icons (merchants) and a big pumpkin icon within a DE circle. To me this couldn’t be more obvious. If you want to take part in these events then it is best if you keep your eyes open and YES reading ALL the text told to to you helps to a large degree also. As for the pumpkin carving (stand near one and hit “F”) and costume brawl I found those to be quite self explanatory, but for those that need the full explanation of the brawl you need look no further than the sticky explaining it to you here.
Yep gonna add my voice to this thread in saying a big thank you to the hard working team at ANet. There have been a few bugs and glitches, but in all fairness, I am having a blast!
That is because it is a rather difficult place to get into solo, so players wait and wait till he “might” spawn. In waiting they grow bored and do the food fighting and brawling, thus crowding the area. What ANet needs to do is just make him stick around long enough for the players to get his book and all will be well again. Honestly I love the game, but making the last book holder run away from you and disappear without giving time to converse is just a bad mechanic.
You know it needs to be addressed quickly when you need an area select report function added to the game. Here’s hoping it ends sooner rather than later.
There are discoverable mystic forge weapons that are sometimes even better looking then their legendary counterpart, and much more realistic to obtain.
This. I just made my two level 80 mystic forge axes and I’m stopping there. They have a electric charge shooting up the inside of them giving (to me) a rather nice effect. If other want to use the RNG and the insane amount of grinding needed to get a legendary so be it, but not for this casual player. Oh and the RNG doesn’t come into play with them at all as the recipe is easy to guess and works 100% of the time without fail (at least for my axes, but there my be bugs still).
Just to chime in here. I have found recently that I just “tag” (hit champions/vets a few times just to register a gold) then continue on my way. I do this because they drop nothing 99% of the time (if at all) and I find my time in the game better spent moving on to a DE that has trash mobs that drop loot. I have to say I do feel kinda of guilty not staying to help fight, but with the design the way it is champions and veterans seem to be the trash mobs in GW2.
Thank you all very much. It would seem I need to go and collect some destroyer lodestones and such.
I heard there is a greatsword (2 hander) that has a glowing ice effect, But I was wondering if this was the only type out there? I am aware that the legendary weapons have some effect, but as I don’t want to spend my life farming to get one I could use some help. I am looking for axes and any help would be appreciated.
I look at situations like that as an opportunity. Maybe they target you, but, on the other hand they’re NOT targeting your party members. Run around in circle and let him try to hit your back, use dodge and speed abilities as needed and let your party members take him out with ranged. Even if your unable to attack doesn’t mean your not a valued member of the party. HTH.
The way I see it is even if tonight’s patch doesn’t fix much at least we get a reset. So at least the world should be playable for a few days until all the DE’s again collapse into a state of “disrepair”.
A trading post NPC is bugged in the Fields of Gold in the Cursed Shore zone. You cannot select her nor will she respond to the “F” key. Gonna stay logged out till they do a reset, it costs me too much cash to travel back to the area from Lions Arch.
I don't want to sit and farm Penitent/Shelter's/Jofast's camp all day, but I sure feel compelled to

They should downscale better. That means:
a) Make us weaker in low-level areas. As of now I am too strong when I play in a level 20 area as level 80 character, allegedly downscaled to level 22.
b) Give us karma, gold, xp like in level 80 areas.
c) Give us level adequate loot like in Orr.
Then it would be the same (loot-/xp-/karma-/goldwise) if I play in Kessex Hills or Cursed Shore. And that would be a very good thing because the high level player would spread all over the world.
I agree, but I would add that the travel costs need to suit our down-leveled status. If I’m level 6 in an area why should I spend 1.5 silver to go to a nearby waypoint? You could solve the whole “going to a newbie area to get discount travel” by way of making the destination the cost multiplier. Thus a level 80 goes to Queensdale and pays 5 copper to travel there, he then goes to Kessex Hills and it costs him apx 60 copper as the new area is 15-25. When he returns to Cursed Shore he would pay 3 silver.
Characters that continually run from a waypoint to the same DE area, usually naked is another good indication.
As with every other thread of this nature I have seen, I don’t care. So long as they add the option to turn off requests. As for seeing players kicking the kitten out of each other in Lion’s Arch, I can’t say I’m a fan, but I’ll live with it just to have these threads stop.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
Before they close this thread for being inane, I must point out that if you want them to address ANYTHING it is best to point out exactly what it is you would like to see fixed.
For the explorable dungeon nerf 10/10 I can see their point in making it less desirable to faceroll it.
For the story mode nerf 1/10. When I am bored I spend some time answering requests to join a pug to do story mode (you know friendly player helping player stuff). Before the patch and after either buying new armor or repairs I could just about break even with maybe a few coins left over for the amount of time taken it averages about 15 silver for apx. and hour. But now with this patch the story mode rewards won’t even give me back enough to repair so I am forced into the explorable, that with my skill means instant deaths or graveyard zergs until i am naked. Seriously ANET I love your game but this is not the way to promote friendly player to player communities. For now I will just forgo dungeons.
