I have a set of celestial and I have to say I am disappointed in the nerfing of the mf stat whilst giving us nothing in return for our LARGE (time = $$$) investment. I would like to ask a red name, seeing as they actually read this topic, why would you implement a set of armor within two months of ripping out a stat from it?
Not giving when taking is kitten poor development, but when it requires us, the players, so much time to make it is a kick in the kittens.
Not everyone enjoyed the Secret of Southsun or the election updates, but we still dealt with it to get those same achievement points.
Two very different animals, those two examples involved the open world and more of less fit into the lore. The SAB is separate and in no way fits into a RPG. A platform YES most defiantly, but I didn’t buy a MMORPG to play donkey kong the next generation.
The SAB is a self contained thing in Rata Sum that doesn’t affect anything but itself. It started as a joke and it was massively popular. People loved it. They started a movement to get it to come back.
But it’s essentially an Asuran invention to teach kids how to be adventurers. Its that really so deal breaking to you?
If you never enter the box, it doesn’t exist.
Yet they tie achievements to this thing and give account wide bonuses for said achievements. Leaving those of us that wish to get the account wide boosts either A) having to suck it up and enter even though we hate it or B ) be left behind.
BTW ANET where are the WvW achievements we desperately need??
Some (almost all) of us won’t live long enough to see 250000 kills.
Other than the crafting for some professions being increased for ascended, I’ll be sitting this one. It may be popular, but this player would sooner see it as a separate www java game instead of implemented into my MMORPG!

Meh, at least I can get some of my crafting disciplines to 500 with the patch.
A MUST quality of life improvement if there ever was one; +1.
Also if I may add that I have poi’s within dungeons also that, because I cannot see the interior of the dungeon in the open world, it is impossible to see what ones I am missing. Seems quite lacking for a game that revolves around it’s achievements.

Nope, I’m darn (the other d word was censored for some reason) near rank 300 now and running out of things to put points into now. If however they came up with a defender line, I would buy enough to get that mastery maxed quickly.
At first i was excited at the reinforce mastery thinking it was a new way to “reinforce” walls and gates while in a tower/keep, then I saw the larger screeny. The text saying “improves your ability to get back into the fight” doesn’t bode well for those of us that like to defend. Sadly I believe the flipping wars will go on.
Superior sigil of generosity; might be the reason they are 18 gold atm.

Well, I decided to run a Powermancer build, and although the damage is very good, seems it is outclassed by warriors without the survivability – so anyone targets you, you go down :-(
Maybe condmancer would be best for me…
For raw damage (DPS) output the necro is not the class you want to run. However you can make yourself fairly tough while still putting the pressure on the enemy with conditions. Although we don’t get any other evades/dodges other than the 2 dodges every class gets the trick is to continuously stick and move while wearing down you opponents; use death shroud whnever it is up for both defense and offense FTW. That being said a condi build generally has much more toughness and hence survivability.
I know it may counter-productive in some situations, but I use both currently. I have celestial armor/divinity runes along with rabid trinkets for the toughness. I use focus crystals for the toughness to condi damage along with dragon buns for the crit % +200 power for 30 seconds on kill. my weapons are axe/focus for when i need the power/vulnerability and scepter/dagger for when I need that little extra condi damage. I have learned when to switch my weapons around for when the situation calls for it. Although this build isn’t suited to the min/maxer it seems to work well enough for me. I carry a set of ascended power trinkets for when I want to see the high numbers, but I never carry another set of armor anymore. Not so much a hybrid as a mutt build, but when utilized well it can be lots of fun.
Was fine for me this morning, but has gotten progressively worse as the day went on. If I had to guess I would say it feels like a memory leak slowly degrading the performance. If it gets any worse I may as well be playing slideshow wars 2. Please fix this!
I like it. The new opponents seem to have some interesting abilities and the whole experience seems to make the community more communal and goal oriented. Yes it is possible to zerg the events to a certain extent, BUT if you zerg blob the map the overall event will fail. So far I give it a 9/10 as the overflow can be a pain, and the final boss is too squishy, however the content is solid.
More like these in the future please!
Jumping puzzles (along with mini-dungeons) will be some of the locations that begin rewarding ascended crafting materials once crafting to 500 goes live; this is intended to help make these areas more rewarding and fun to go back to and play.
So long as you can acquire these new mats through other means (80+ champs, wvw, etc.) then I have no problem with it. However if the mats are exclusive to the jp’s and mini dungeons I will be quite choked (again). As happened with the ascended rings that were introduced through fotm exclusively at first, it left out the WvW players and we are STILL left behind in the ascended accessory and back piece category.
I don’t care if they nerf it. I don’t care if it is the new number one way to cash out. I do however care that the rest of the world is much emptier than it was previously, so I won’t be playing much until the rest of the world has players in it.
Cost of item = 800 gems
Time taken to farm gold for item = 2 days
Cost of use = 3 copper
Never having to buy another basic kit again = priceless
To some the big picture really does make a difference.
I am very happy for you and thank players like you that stick to it for as long it takes to complete it. Because the game needs gold sinks the champions loot evens out; at least for the next month. With the waypoint cost plus repairs being so expensive it is nice to know some players voluntarily donate the 3+ silver (apx) to my coffers in the form of champion loot. And for this I thank you.
So long as players are willing to play against gauntlet bosses that award an achievement, require a wp cost and a repair cost multiple times in order to win the fight…
I’m sure the benefits of the champ chests will even out. After the event goes away though, It’s anybody’s guess.
My prediction is that the boars shall be given holographic wings, and for two weeks pigs will fly!
ANet has no control over the gem market, it’s completely player driven.

For me it’s the tells. I don’t mind a challenge, but for the love all all that is holy, quit making the bosses have a minor arm movement signalling when to dodge. Adding to the frustration is that I not only have to watch for boss tells, but also the floor about me for red circles. The amount of time I must wait to dodge is also a problem as it usually varies therefore I usually end up dying a few times before I even get the timing right. I realize that nobody wants a big red flashing alert as to when you need to dodge, but dying multiple times because I can neither see the tell or time it is ludicrous. Adding to the frustration is the fact that most of these hard to see tells are in essence an instant kill.
I understand that ANet needs gold sinks, but seriously do we have to force 90% of the population into dying multiple times just to make the new champion drops even out the economy?

Although I realize that you don’t want to give to much away by giving specifics in the path notes for new events, you could use bullet points. Stating that:
- 4 new events added to Queensdale
- 5 new events added to the Plains of Ashford (including one chain event)
For example would give some less populated maps life again from the average player out to discover the new events.
IMO just stating that 30 events were added to the game world being less specific doesn’t encourage exploration as much due to the fact that it is ONE BIG WORLD.

It was intended, as a matter of fact it used to not work vs jumps till they patched it (on the patch when they removed orbs from WvWvW).

I like the update, except for one thing: Remove necromancer’s only means of defense against massive damage spike for pax, and introduce a Gauntlet full of bosses with massive damage spikes.

Didn’t even bother with the gauntlet for this reason; the tells are hard for me to see also. But I find it funny that ANet themselves said that our leaching line is terrible in an interview from a month ago (apx.), but yet takes away one of our only three ways to avoid damage, two of which are dodges without any vigor to boost them.
I love the update, the casual side of the achievements is quite fun so I do those, the gauntlet however isn’t my cup of tea, so I skip it. Not all updates have to cater to everyone; if you don’t like this one wait a few weeks.

I agree, but thankfully I can never read the “tells” anet seems to think are well telegraphed so I don’t even bother with these challenges. I am glad the elite are given something to do but I’ll save my silver thanks.
Death shroud deemed a useless ability, replaced by the new F1 “kick me” skill. When activated this new ability transforms the necro into a 80’s movie nerd, complete with the pocket protector and wide rim glasses. When an enemy attacks said necro his armor preforms a self wedgie giving the necro a long term weakness and immobilize condition.
This change was seen to be more of a buff than anything we have thusfar done to the necro and as such we feel we may have to decrease it’s usefulness.
Please feel free to try it before passing judgement though.

And by that I mean warriors and guardians will get buffed and the rest will get nerfs.
Since beta I have spent about $300 on the game and gems. To me this seems a very good value if you consider I spend more than 8/h a day online. I have done the gold/gem route also, but I like to support a game that IMO works hard for it’s players.

Reason is leeching sucks rocks, and I don’t use minions (I despise jagged horror).
My armor is celestial w/divinity runes (5 of 6 pieces thusfar), my jewelery and weapons are zergers. I use axe/focus as main and when in WvW I switch out my secondary dagger/focus for a staff. My food is maintenance oil (for the precision) and dragon buns (for the crit damage and strength). Glassy but still able to survive well enough.
I think the smartest thing to do would be to let us change our mf armor to the stats that we choose (out of existing stat combos of course)

The legendaries are apparently going to be selectable outside of combat, so why not have an armor set be this way? This would be the best way to make everyone happy IMO.
I’ll predict I will have a much clearer bank tab with all the currency in it’s own storage.
I also predict that the champions will finally be worth killing.
And Finally I predict that I will have fun, even if I don’t partake of all the events.

No, thankfully. Which is why cliffs were considered the necro’s only escape mechanism.
Still are if you have an unused Spectral Walk on your bar.
other clases have invuleravility, vigor, endurance regen, and other ways of surviving do we have?

No matter your stance on it, I will be quite happy to have the champs actually be worth the time it takes to kill them.

So long as this thread regards defense, then I pose the following:
Just let regen pass through DS using our healing stat as a modifier. No other healing though as that would be quite overpowered, but with regen it will be nice to have a few more hitpoints left in my normal pool when i again have to build it up.
I’m glad my necro build hasn’t been nerfed for a few weeks.
So either you don’t currently run a necro, or your build is next.

It is not crippled, or bugged, or unviable. Used to be super bugged. It never was unviable.
Currently Necromancer is now the strongest condition class in the game, and was severely overbuffed with the Dhuumfire patch.
Don’t listen to most of the whiners in the Necro forums. And I’d suggest you respect Elementalists and Warriors alot more. Especially, in PvP.
And this is the direction MY necro never wanted and we were told explicitly they’re not going in. After playing since beta and being TOLD by the devs we were to become the ULTIMATE ATTRITION class, something that appealed to me, we are given super buffed conditions instead?!.
This makes no sense whatsoever and in fact confuses the general population as to what we, as necros, are. It is of little wonder why many players don’t want us in a party because they like to know what WE can do. When it changes, even in the eyes of the devs between patches, it makes players shy away from us. Maybe the sPvP scene is all important to the devs at this point in time, but as a consumer that likes to enjoy his time in the game and has spent his money there, the confusion is getting to be to much… I guess if I want attrition I will have to dust off my guardian (I hear they get buffs all the time).
Now you guys are being completely inconsiderate to tPvP.. you know.. the players who actually have “skill” with their classes. From a high end pvp standpoint & many other top tier players will agree that necro’s in their current state are now over the top. Their insane condi pressure & general condi spam is detrimental to team fights especially when used in conjunction with epidemic. Now a deathshroud / spectral armor combo is absolutely ridiculous. Sorry I have to comment on this one. SO if you are a PvP players you have skill, but the rest of us do not? That is a total strawman case and I must tell you that maybe some of us players don’t enjoy the competition end of this game and bought in if fact for an MMO with a friendly atmosphere.
As far as inconsideration goes, it is you guys that are being inconsiderate to the other TWO areas of the game, in that, if it doesn’t fit in YOUR meta it needs to be removed/nerfed/modified/changed etc. If the condi damage is so over the top, then learn to adapt and take more cleanses to compensate. We here in the PvE/WvW world could teach you a few things about that because any time you guys want or need a change WE are the ones that must adapt to YOUR meta.
From my point of view the DS change and the shroud change MIGHT compensate to a small degree for the bleeding over effect of damage onto my normal hitpoints, but why am I forced to take a utility to get back the survivability I had not one week ago?
Foot in the grave for WvW, deadly perception for PvE. However I use an axe/focus so I have a good amount of incoming LF, as a staff user you don’t get that; but I have heard some staffusers swear by it. For PvP I cannot comment as I never do that part of the game, so there the choice is yours.

I say play it a while and then see how you feel.
We did a big set of improvements to Necro recently, and we want to make sure we don’t over improve their defense capabilities.
We want to shift more focus to death shroud throug main hand skills, but, again, we don’t want to do this too fast, ESPECIALLY with a major Pax tournament right around the corner.
So death shroud gains may not be as high as you would like, but we’ll keep monitoring them and looking at further improvements to make.
OK, I spent the day trying out the new death shroud. Althoughit does seem to last longer, I have lost access to my only way of mitigation (read: blocking) a large spike. Even though I have more of it doesn’t make it better. Secondly if you don’t want to over improve us then don’t, give us a way to escape combat easily when we are doomed to fall; this don’t seem like much to ask to me seeing as EVERY other class has this basic ability.
Personally I, and I am sure many others could care less than snail snot about the pax tournament, but we do care about having to repair our armor every bloody time we set foot into the open world in PvE and as the “easy kill” button in WvW.
Let me be succinct here, some of us DON’T care about PvP meta therefore YOU should not base the way you modify the classes around it for everyone! Get a few testers to actually play in PvE and WvW; if you can find a few, lord knows we are getting scarce, and see for yourself already. If you cannot offer anything to help the survivability of the class at this point then leave us the kitten alone, better yet revert us back!
Play one, than decide for yourself. I don’t play a MM but I play a power/tank build in WvW and I can tell you that you will feel less unfair and more like fodder in no time at all.
This entire forum is littered with good, and yes bad suggestions on what the community would like to see done with the necro. However, it seems the devs never read any of these threads and just use the dart board approach to pick and choose what is removed/modified on a regular basis. Sad really, if you consider that the players that post suggestions on these forums actually PLAY a necro; unlike, I believe, the devs.
Lets keep it civil guys… I’m pretty sure a dev will never see this thread, but that is no reason to have it locked by a moderator!
Seems to be paving the way for the mass necro exodus of 2013 so far. I’ve even given up hope for a minor boost to siphoning at this point. What we need in order to fix the class is a mechanism to make players not want to get close to us or to get stronger as they weaken, you know like a REAL attrition class should be.

Btw, if we cry enough we’ll get another buff in 2 weeks guys. We have been nerfed to hell because of these crying players. This is how things work in gw2.
