Well it is nice to know that my lvl 80 full ascended/t3 tanky necro will survive 2 hits from a 2nd level up-level thief in WvW. And now the rangers get stealth too, may as well give every profession a new utility skill called “kack the necro” with a 1/2 casting time.

You know that word attrition? I don’t think it means what you think it means ANet…

I don’t understand why you guys hate Anet for making you play the game by the rules.

I don’t give a rat’s kitten about the falling damage!! I do however care that when a thief, that can escape at any time mind you, is behind me in WvW I lose my only way of mitigating one large back stab. I cannot run away as I have no escape; other that running into a tower or a group or teammates. Unless the DS ability has become as useful as a slowly deteriorating block, I’m a bit miffed and yes upset as to why they even bothered nerfing us.

I usually don’t reply twice in the same thread, but this has really got my hackles up!

We have multiple topic in these forums about what you (as a NECRO) would like to see changed (axe #1 for example) and what do we get? A complete and utter failure to even look at the necro to see what can be done to make us more viable as an ATTRITION class while taking away the ONE and only ability we have to mitigate 1, count em 1, large damage attack or fall. Ny necro is my main and even though I have spent over 5000 gems in tools etc., 1500+ hours and have over 7000 ap’s I am about to shelf him AND this game. At this point even considering another class sickens me if these are the type of “minor adjustments” they see fit to implement.

BAH, and to anyone that says this change was needed, go play a necro and see how overpowered you feel in open combat; I’m not paying your repair bill I get enough of my own.

SO what was so bad in being able to absorb one extra high damage hit? Seems to me that this change will, in one fell swoop, take us from being a slightly viable class without any form of escape to a very easy kill once again.

When facing a glassy anything, I had, before this patch, the ability to absorb one more high hit in hopes of limping along to a friendly in WvW. Now that one 21k hit will not only drain what is left of my life force but in essence remove a good chunk of my normal health pool.

Where is the increased survivability? Where is the healing/ratio change we need? Instead we get increased LF gen?!. News flash ANet, if your escaping a fight you’re usually hurting badly and a 2% increase in LF gen is useless compared to any ability that lets you get away to heal. This chance WAS NOT needed and although i will test out how well I can perform after this change, I feel it may be time to hang up my necro.

Up in the air at this point. I personally am hoping for the ability to make the current ones with jewel crafting. Whatever the deal will be with jewelery, I for one am just happy that my master crafter will be useful to me again.

I still find the game fun, if I grow bored of one aspect of the game (PvE for example) I simply go to another (WvW). I do however think the game needs more action in that whole maps can be taken over by enemies if left alone for extended periods; you know like a real war zone would be.

If we are to remain interested in an area we have already been through many times on many different characters, you need to change the tactics of the creatures we encounter. Similar to the way fighting real live humans can change based upon different scenarios. This would make things more difficult yes, but the breath of fresh air it would add would be amazing IMO.

If they had made it so that anyone actually finishing the race got the title this would be mute. Because they made it about competition for first to get the title, they made it a grievers paradise. Although I finished the race many many times it took one nice fellow to stand at the finish line for me to finally get the title.

To those that would say the title would mean nothing, I say hogwash, you participated and you had fun. After-all isn’t that what these games are intended to achieve? Btw I still run it for the loot and the fun, but now that the yoke of the title has been lifted I actually enjoy it much more.

I finally got the first place achievement with a little help from someone giving up first. That said, I just run it now for the free loot (rares and catchers) at my own pace and leave as soon as I get the chest at the end (exit button at right of screen); the ranking means less than nothing to me. So basically if the ranks means something to you then stay for the tally, I’ll be the guy disappearing asap.

I have to agree.

I would like to see MUCH more RPG in this MMOrpg. Let us feel epic for what we do in game and not for the ability to take the right turn/grab a powerup in a racing game, or being able to guess where to jump in some puzzles.

A good start would be to get away from the fluff content and make us the players feel like we are a part of the story and not just watching from the sidelines. I purchased this game because of the stated concept of “your actions will make a difference”, however thus far ALL i have seen is my actions delaying the reset of things in the world for a few minutes.

Although there are a few areas in the game (a bridge is the only one that comes to mind) that change the landscape if the event fails, I want to see more actual “war” in my warzones and not just an area with yet another jumping puzzle to discover. Making the enemies in PvE be more than just fodder with actual goals and tactics, would go much much farther in moving this game away from the narrated feel it currently has.

I for one really hope so. Yesterday was the first time I went to my home instance since I did the story more than 5 months ago; to be honest I forgot how to get to it in the sylvari city at first. Any reason to make our “home” instance feel more like a place to hang out will be very welcomed by this avid player.

IMO, if is going to be considered a ranged weapon, it needs to have more range; 900 would suffice. If ANet wants it to be used more as a close range “deterrent” weapon, it needs to at very least cleave in a cone.

Give me the ability to use the aspects for the all the jumping puzzles, even if it costs me 100 gold for them and I will actually be able to do them. Hell, put it in the gem store even and you can bet your bottom I’ll be the first in line for it.

I like the new one for aesthetics, but the old one was easier (for me) to use. As an example, when i used to click on a daily achievement on the right side of my screen I was greeted with the entire daily listing so as to see things I had left to do. The new one only gives me the progress of the one I just clicked on until I click a back button.

As nitpicky as this may sound, it was what I got used to and IMO any interface that makes you now click your mouse twice as much as before is a step backwards.

Why put a PvP race track in the middle of a PvE area?

Same reason. I personally would have preferred to see if I was in fact faster than a centaur. At least with this kite you know your gonna fail miserably most times.

I gave up. I got the other “real” PvE achievments, but I was unable to find anyone willing to help me get first by standing at the line. So I haven’t cheated at all, I did however feel cheated by ANet for once again including a PvP matchup within what is once again an otherwise a friendly environment.

If your idea of competition is in making others have to earn their achievements when most are only there for friendly competition then congratulations you are first in many many ways.

Awesome job ANet, best mini game yet.

I had this happen to me, except instead of waiting for the 2nd place guy to cross they crossed first and started dancing thus taking away my ability to get first. I had one guy even return to follow me while telling me just how slow I was. I don’t bother trying anymore after over 50 races wasting 7 minutes each to get frustrated. I got 2nd and thus that achievement. If there are nice PVP players like you apparently out there I have not met them.

Here’s an idea ANet, QUIT making every bloody mini game based on PVP!! I though the races were suppose to be working together to defeat evil and not trying to slit each others throats.

I’ve tried Adnul like 15 times and I haven’t been able to beat him yet. I think the closest I got him down to was about 30% health.

Issue 1 – People who are new will have to wait to get the number of achievement points needed to acquire some stuff. This is ridiculous. New people will at least be getting stuff as they hit each tier rather than waiting from launch until now for any of it.

Issue 2 – Dailies/Monthlies already give laurels/silver/karma jug. This is also ridiculous. Everything in the game gives some measure of reward. So by this logic, anything that gave a reward – every dungeon, meta-event, WvW accomplishment, etc. should not count toward achievement points.

This is quite possibly the lamest elitist attempt to get things for themselves at the expense of others in the history of gaming.

Almost feels as if I am reading a thread on faux news.

With the extent of the data mining that gw2 has seen on every update, I would be amazed if, by now they don’t keep the data better hidden. Actually it would not surprise me in the least if the next patch had bulldozers and dinosaur icons/pictures just to throw players into a complete tirade over them.

Bottom line is that I think I can wait till the official release to see what ANet is giving us.

Daily PVE achievement point caps

I’m terrible at jumping, don’t do many dungeons due to amount of skill required for an older guy, but I love doing the dailies/monthlies and have done so since the recent change. Why should I be left with very few achievement points daily over someone that has done all the jumping/dungeons and has played for less than a month?

I play the game too you know and have done so since the beta! If you want to remain in the top 500 then you will just have to suck it up and make your play time a job, but not me.

P.S. for all we know at this point they could cap out at 5k or be so meaningless that fighting over who has the biggest kitten is dense.

Yup, gotta say, am pretty disappointed by HoD lately. Seems everyone is terrified to step more than a few feet away from their zerg & have had multiple waypoint away when I ran up to them alone.

Well, I guess that’s one thing I’ll give DH. They sure don’t map out when they bring ten people to fight our 5man group of 60% uplevels. Doesn’t seem to help them much though.

Anyways, good times last night in WvW, although a few “happy ranchers” decided to rope and ride a few red yaks, most were happy to graze with their fellow cattle.

The only drawback or it is that is is not unblockable such as some of the other single target (pre-epidemic) utilities. I plan on using it exclusively in PvE, but in WvW I will still use corrupt boon simply because it can get past all the kitten blocks there.

VERY, VERY happy. I have been playing a axe/focus necro for months and although wells and “heal on life transfer” were nice in helping out the zerg I always felt useless in both PvE and solo roaming. Now it doesn’t take all day to defeat anything and roaming although still tough against thieves (especially packs of em) can be done if you’re careful.

Don’t get me wrong though some changes were kinda flaky, like the aforementioned recharge on DS, but now I just have to relearn to wait 10 seconds again because I don’t bother with it anymore. All in all I can finally hit hard enough to not fall asleep between battles and for that alone I am a happy camper.

How do you Roam in WvW?

I don’t, I run in zergs or parties. I have full arrow cart upgrades and 3 tiers in cannon so most times I defend walls when I am solo. I If I am forced to roam (say from one place to another) I will wait till someone on my side is heading in the same direction and join them. Maybe with the upcoming patch I can roam solo, but for now I don’t like large repair bills so I play it safe.

Not buying it. Some of these changes may in fact turn out to be real, but they don’t mention siphoning at all; something that was explicitly mentioned as needing work. If this clip is a portion of what may may be included in the patch then good, but it looks to me to be far from the complete text.

Well if they wouldn’t give us mobility the least they could do was make it so that our foes cannot escape quickly either. What remains to be seen though is once we have em tethered (so to speak) are we going to be able to do anything with them before the condition wears off.

Time will tell i guess, but at least it looks like this update will finally add something meaningful to our class other that tooltip changes.

If they want to make us the master of attrition as they say they want to then they have to make us stronger as the fight progresses. If they won’t give us mobility, stability or any disengage mech. then they must give us weakness, poison and/or blind etc. in an easily (read: much shorter cooldown) aoe form.

Honestly I won’t be happy with the class until the time comes that other professions look at us as they do a bunker guard and just don’t bother due to the time it would take to kill us one on one.

make dagger cleave, and axe an hybrid weapon. Remove vulnerability and put poison on #1, remove cripple from #3 and put it in #2, put weakness in #3 and done. You have an attrition weapon that use the condition duration on Spite line, just where is the trait for Axe.
Your foe can’t run, can’t dodge, can’t heal while you do abysmal damage, pretty much the attrition concept.

But axe (2) is single target and I like to have an aoe retaliation/cripple. Single target cripple would in essence nerf us while using the axe, even though you would replace it with an aoe weakness it removes one of the few ways we can get a bit of distance when facing a mob. The number (1) skill does need some work be it another condition or just speeding it up remains to be seen.

I use the axe almost exclusively. That said, yes, the number 1 skill is painfully slow and really needs a speed boost. The vulnerability is nice but as others have said it is just easier to get it with a focus or through other means. Weakness however is something we are sadly lacking in and to make a true attrition profession (as TheAgedGnome has said) would fit in well for what an axe is for.

So my suggestion for the axe would be to increase the speed on (1) to 1/2 (1/4 might be a bit over the top) and replace the vulnerability (2 stack for 7s) with weakness (one stack for 3s). This would make us stronger the longer we stay in a fight by way of making our opponent’s attacks hurt us for less damage. The (2) and (3) skills are fine, but the damage for both could use a minor (5%) boost IMO.

Is Downed HP fixed?

No, it’s not fixed. I played my necromancer last night in wvw some and it is frustrating. I really want to play my necromancer as my main, but I refuse until this is fixed. I hate being angry when I die so incredibly fast after being downed. I’m amazed that other folks who play a lot of wvw with their necromancers can stomach it.

After I hit 1000 deaths (didn’t even get a free toaster) I gave up looking at them. Fortunatly I can play the market a bit so repairs don’t hurt much, but I would much prefer a fix. An in-game single time clone (behind the scenes or not) to give us the fix would also be nice as the new necro’s seem to have it.

WvW Title: Ultimate Besieger

The better approach would have been to give us titles for each tier, so that you could be a novice besieger, professional besieger etc etc. for each ability.

The entire WvW title area needs to have an overhaul with more titles (game wide) IMO. And could we please be given the ability to see the ranks of players on our side.

Necro. You’re a zerg busting monster if traited right with epidemic, you can spread your “love” quite well.

Caveat: if caught solo, or without a safe haven nearby be advised you will be used as a black pinball. Having no form of escape mechanism allows thieves (and many other classes) to laugh at your sorry dead kitten.

Rare don’t mean pretty; also beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I for one would sell the greatsaw because it, to me, is ugly and would not fit any of my characters. The fact that it is worth a ton on the TP says that some disagree with my taste.

I usually just wait till here are 2 others there then activate. Anymore and you may not get in a kill and any less I feel I am hurting the “friendly” environment.

On a related note, can we please find a happy medium between “oh god not the princess dolls” and these guys? These are far to easy even solo IMO, hence they die to quickly.

Don’t /laugh or /dance on their body, for starters.

This. I have only had the misfortune of having that happen too me twice. Both times I though it was the height of rudeness. As a necro I currently have a hard enough time disengaging from a solo thief let alone a pair of them and for both times having this done to me by thieves tells me volumes about their character.

As for when i see/have a good fight with an opponent, I usually just give a /bow to them as I depart; if i win of course.

The dev’s did fix it… For NEW necros. Simply re-roll, re-level and re-gear.

Unless they make it so that I can transfer my look, my soulbound items, my WvW ranks, and anything else that might make my character unique then NO THANKS. Although simple for some a re-roll is defiantly NOT something I am willing to do after over 900+ hours on my necro.

I agree too. In wvw it is bad enough I must run in a zerg or be treated as the worlds biggest pinball only to die whenever downed. I’m not in the top 1% of the class than can run solo, but even if I were being downed has a reprieve mechanism for a reason; not being able to use it kinda sucks.

I really want to see are the life siphon ability be useful, the axe damage to be increased or at least the speed of the 1 skill increased. DS made to actually be something other than the big black nerf ball tossed about the map would be a nice plus.

As it sits as a axe/focus wielding necro my damage is sub-par and my only escape mechanism it to turtle and hope it goes away; seriously we are the easiest kill when solo in WvW right now bar none. The necro IMO has only become the master of death by experiencing it so many times.

I’m not expecting much. The last 4 (or more) patches have taught me to keep my expectations low. However one day I am hoping that my necro will feel more polished and fun to play. Unfortunately with their recent track record that day won’t be in the near future.

I’m not hoping to become OP (might be a nice change for a month though) or having to take X trait or Y weapon to compete but any boost to our DS or lifesteal ability would make me a bit happier. If it takes PvP to make them realize the class is broken and most traits are more or less useless then so be it, but maybe at very least play in the PvE and WvW areas to see that we are a dying (pun intended) breed.
