This is along the same lines as your post so I will mention it here. The DE’s (the ones involving combat) should be even a little bit more difficult IMO as once you enter a dungeon currently you are introduced to a much more difficult environment. Having the players being forced into dodging once in a while would make them more suited to a dungeon run.

I sincerely hope that that pay gold for this service enter the dungeon and then afk. Otherwise your spending hard earned cash to someone else whilst helping them do the labor. I don’t know about you but I won’t pay my mechanic to change my oil and then hold the car up for him, but that is just my opinion. The February patch is coming quick enough as has been mentioned, so at least save your coin until after you see what is done to this dungeon.

Where Chickens Drop Better Loot Than Dragons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

Spot on OP.

The dragons of legend were sought out because they hoarded gold and valuables. It seems that in GW2 these scary creatures of the world are much more content to just collect kitten from whatever trash happened by their lair within the last week. Coming from a purely AD&D background it makes no sense and IMO needs to be reworked. Greens at minimum should be offered for one of these glorious beasts of legend, with rares, exotics and yes even ascended being possible.

I can fully understand it if the chest was offered after taking down say the giant in Diessa Plateau, who, would have a few random trinkets mostly what us mere humans might not find of value (blues, greens, throwing rocks, crafting mats junk etc.). But chickens should logically drop some crafting material and nothing else (meat and feathers etc.) but it seems that logic holds no place in the GW2 universe and that is just sad.

Edit: Yes i realize this is a fantasy game and having a bow that shoots unicorns isn’t logical either, but unless we are living in an alternate universe as well as playing in an alternate reality MMO, players still want rewards worth the risk.

I personally just hang out with friends, doing DE’s hearts, PvE bosses, dungeons, mapping out regions, jumpng puzzles and sometimes just chatting but everyone sees this game differently and if your “finished” with it so be it. Maybe you’ll come back someday.

Is the monthly too hard?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tommyknocker.6089

Never did a monthly before this one due to the WvW element. This time I have already completed it even though dungeons arn’t usually my thing using GW2LFG.COM was a breeze. If your inexperienced, as I am, and wanted to get some under your belt, all you have to do is post a LFG stating such and you will most likely find a good group to help you out easy enough. The other portions, DE’s, salvage and dailies I would not in any way consider a grind, more like just playing the game.

^ others before me have said it as eloquently as I could. However I will add when the daily resets it takes me no more that 30 minutes (usually much less) in Gandarrian Fields just north of L.A.

Edit- 5 Vets = Veteran Oakhearts abound south of Nebu Terrace
Underwater 25 kills = white 1 hp fishes and barracudas
Dodge = Moas have a breath attack with a long wind up
(or centaur bowman drawing the bow makes a noise that will alert you to dodge)
Gathering = lots of wood and ore about, get some tools and start cracking
Rezes = NPC’s near and around Nebu Terrace die on a regular basis
Crafting = refine 10 of what you gathered in L.A.
The longest part is waiting on DE’s to fire, some players will alert you to when they are up though

Easy as pie even for a someone working a full time job (like me)!

Your welcome

Quick over here————It’s that thread again!

Well strictly from a lore point of view it shouldn’t happen as we are all suppose to be fighting the menace that are the elder dragons. Now if you guys want to beat each other to pulp, I’m all for a PvP server or arenas in each city as a “training area”, so long as I don’t have to see all the races pretending that for some reason it is now all out civil war after the storyline I’m fine with it.

February monthly

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

I seriously don’t get the drama about this month’s monthly, unlike the previous ones it actually focuses on pve stuff, and is something anyone can complete..

Honestly if you can’t bother to invest 2 hours into dungeon in a span of 4 weeks, then news flash you do not deserve the monthly, ITS TWO HOURS.

WvW on the other hand does not belong on monthly, it is something that is unreasonable to expect people to do:

1: because there are already pvp monthlies.
2: because WvW will absolutely murder the average computer.

WvW is not PvP, these are two completely separate aspects of the game.

It is hysterical that people complain about 50 WvW kills which you can get in 15 minutes from EBG. You then turn around to others and say if you don’t spend hours running a dungeon you don’t deserve the rewards. lolz, just lolz.

Where does it say anywhere that the Monthly is a PvE daily? Put back the WvW in my opinion. If you are going to force dedicated WvW players to run dungeons then you should force the PvE dedicated people to have to take SM castle or something equally as annoying

Soon (end of month I hope) we will choose what ones we wish to do thus making this a non issue.

Give the AI mobs in PvE some AI. If the mobs were to dodge once in a while (or even kite) it wouldn’t bother me in the least as a condi/vamp necro, but it will sure take the fun out of using 100b in a hurry. If we as players can dodge 2 times even as a lowby 2nd level why can’t most (any) mobs?

If you want to know why GS warriors are generally not used in PvP it is due to the fact that your opponent there has a brain and can and will get out of your way when he/she sees 100b coming.

Edit: my prediction though is c.. no change coming

Player homes not worth development effort

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tommyknocker.6089

This may seem like a stretch, but I personally would like to see housing handled like in Wizard 101. The houses you could get were bought, though in this game having one set aside in your home instance would suffice. Pets could be set to free roam, the items you bought or made were free place-able, unlike LotRO where you had hooks and limited space. You could plant a garden, that produces “cards” but here we could have them produce something else and give players a reason to visit their “home”.

On a seperate request though, I would love the ability to fish from within my home instance once fishing is implemented. There is nothing more relaxing that fishing from within my own front room through the media of an online MMO.]

edit: IMO the dev time is well worth the investment IF done right, IF NOT then it is indeed a waste. They just need to find what works and what doesn’t for the players.

I can understand the novelty of having the monsters you kill carrying their valuables in a chest that drops when they are killed. However, I would much rather just have a small icon flash similar (perhaps smaller) to the chest that you receive with your daily. This would remedy the having to look around for fear of missing a really good item, with the benefit of knowing your not leaving the area without well earned loot.

On topic, I received a rare once and a white once from the only chests I had received.

Is that even happening? Last official word I saw (red post from about two weeks ago) is that they’ve only considered the idea of a scavenger hunt, but no actual work has begun on such a thing.

Did they say something more recent, and something more concrete? Did they give any sort of timeline as to when we can expect it?

More recent no; even though I did check. However, I would gladly wait a year to save and buy it off the TP before gambling away that much coin. But thankfully some are willing to give their money away. Any good game needs money sinks and a voluntary one doesn’t hurt the general (wiser) population.

I think the siphons are best used as a part of your strategy and not your main device. This is the way I use them anyway. They wont do sufficient healing to enable you to sustain a dps class, but they will add a few extra 1000hp to your total if you play smart.

^ this. I only pull out my siphon if I’m in a long fight and I need those few precious seconds till my dodge/heal/DS/plague are off cool down. Other than that the heal is little more than a way to stay neutral in a fight; healing for as much as your getting hit for.

I stand corrected, and although it doesn’t actually apply a burning aura (dumb IMO) it does the job of damaging more than one. I do have a different dagger with Sup run of earth I use when I have to pick off single targets I carry. My power isn’t to bad @ (80) 1810 attack @ 2791 (full knights) so it does seem to get their attention.

On a side note I used to use pizzas, but I found that using mixed berry pies (omni are far too expensive) the heal on crit synchronizes nicely with my precision and makes me much more tanky.

Where's the love?

Tommyknocker.6089

I mean, condition damage love,

How about our 5% toughness converted in condition damage as the mesmers?

How about our 50% bleeding duration like the warriors?

Where’s our LIMITED access to burning or confusion (yep i said limited access, otherwise could be a little op),

Can you imagine people saying “my god there’s a necro get the hell out, kitten man… those necro are so op”?,

I’d say the first one could replace the jagged horror, (taking in consideration the tree itself give us toughness), and hemophilia could be improved a 20% – 30% percent,

As for limited access to burning or confusion, i mean, really limited like a 25% on crits with a 30 sec cooldown, (this would need to be a trait, otherwise won’t work with sigil of earth),

Although it would be quite nice to see these added as profession related “fixes” I try to do what I can to work around these problems as follows:

1) [partial workaround] I know it isn’t included as a trait, but if you use crystals as your buff food (lack of a better term) then you can get toughness and Vitality to boost your condi damage and crystals are easy to make and/or cheap to buy.

edit: also the Superior rune of the Undead (6) 5% of your toughness becomes condi damage

2) [no solution] in a perfect world we would have a nice boost to our duration(s), but it’s not as if we’re masters of the dead or anything.. we really should have a master trait that boosts all bleeding/poison durration by 50%. Better yet add a new condition called disease that is Necro only!

3) [workaround kinda] I use superior sigils of fire on my main hand weapon (dagger) as this allows for a chance at an AOE (meant as cleave effect) that we don’t have with any of our weapons. I know the standard is earth, but even with it’s 60% chance it is only stacks a condition we already should have on the critter. The fire one only has a 30% chance of firing but it is an AOE and I find when using CURSES (25) Target the weak I get a 2% boost for having the extra condi on it. It may not be the way many would go, but for me it works.

Just some brain droppings of mine.. i too think as necros we deserve to standout in a crowd.

Tommyknocker.6089

My redesign would be:

Dagger (1) I would add a slight poison effect to Necrotic bite even if I had to reduce the Life force regen to +3 instead of +4

Dagger (2) actually with all the traits it isn’t to bad, but I would increase the siphon to 250 per pulse and reduce the damage to 600 per pulse as a compromise

Dagger (3) give us the pull from the old risen in Orr, I personally only use this for when things are running away and this would be sweet justice for all the times i got pulled in Orr … heh

Offhand:

Dagger (4) Keep it as is but for the love of all that is unholy speed it up

Dagger (5) I’m not a big fan of targeted skills so I never use this, Hoverer I love using the DS ability (Weakening Shroud) that self targets this on activate.

Right now it is not much of a problem. Just use Cavalier’s (pwr, tough, critdmg%) items. It comboes very nicely with knight’s gear and fury and has some of the best critdmg% for stat tradeoff rates in the game.

The hell it is a problem all right. I do not have fury on any regular basis and the less I crit the less buffs I give out to allies. I don`t give a …. about the damage I do, because couple of might stacks on 4 people is more damage per second bonus than I can achieve by some measely critdamage %.

Thank you, I was about to post the same thing actually. If I wanted something other than Knight’s I would be using something other than Knight’s. Power/crit % damage is worthless to my build; well maybe not worthless but it sure doesn’t help as much as a guaranteed crit chance (with fury) along with the ability to soak some damage.

I would suggest instead of duration make it either 10% or 15% stronger bleeds to make it actually worth taking over weakening shroud at adept (even though it is currently bugged). YMMV but for my build (DS heavy) it isn’t worth the slot.

Epidemic is already been nerfed to the ground with it’s 5 target limit so let’s hope they leave it out of the conversation. At very least they should make life siphon scale better with our compassion as it sits not it more of a “life trickle”.

Only for a necromancer “Transfers” means “copy”, (plage signet)

Every time I test it, plague signet transfers conditions on both the active and the passive, curing the ally (passive) or the caster (active).

Only a necromancer cuts themselves to hurt their opponents. (Dark Pact, Blood is Power.)

I’d gladly take half damage from a condition for the full area epidemic (i.e. > 5 targets) back.

So therefore…. Only a necromancer will cut themselves to hurt only a few (or one) of their opponents.
