TorsoReaper — it would be argued, I think, that any third-party program or system that expedites an in-game process might be seen as giving a player an advantage over another. If two players are farming, and one is going through the process as intended, and taking XX amount of time, while the second is using a bot or macro that free them up to resume farming, isn’t there an inherant “advantage” in that time-saving system?

I don’t use an auto-clicker. I clicked 10,000 times 2 in Guild Wars (the original) to gain two titles. I did that because while using an auto-clicker would have cut the time I spent by a huge amount, I figured spending the time was part of earning the title.

Just my two cents.

I always read that post as “don’t use macros to cast spells and slaughter people in PVP or auto farm instances” rather than simple QOL improvements to keep my carpal tunnel from flaring up. If you think I should stop, I will stop. You have access to better information than I do.

So I have a custom spreadsheet I made that pulls in what you would probably get from salvaging and what they could be sold for on the TP:

Gross
Salvage Offer 5.57
Salvage Bid 5.07
Hide Price Offer 5.59
Hide Price Bid 5.09

Net of TP
Salvage Offer 4.74
Salvage Bid 4.31
Hide Price Offer 5.59
Hide Price Bid 5.09

Ironically the hides are trading exactly at their no-arbitrage price if you don’t account for trade post taxes. Obviously the idea here would be that if you salvage the mats you keep them and don’t pay the TP tax because since they are both the same price, -15% on both is the same number.

TLDR: salvage

Long story: hoard them because leather prices will continue to go up net of the ascended changes and arbitrage might change.

Give us an “open all” option. That’s all I ask for.
Opening bags day after day is tiresome.

I made a macro on my mouse that I bound to a button I don’t use. All it does is press left mouse click 10x with a 10ms delay. Life saver.

Please how do I do this?
And is it considered bannable?

We can’t tell you how to do that, because discussing things that are against the ToS on the forums is not allowed.

It’s violating the “one hardware action, one in-game action” rule in the ToS, so yes, it’s bannable. Will you be banned for it? …we can’t say for sure, but it seems unlikely, given the relative significance of this.

I’ve been using it since they introduced luck without introducing a “consume all” option. They finally introduce “consume all” to luck but not to all the other crap we need to left click on like idiots.

From Anet’s own post on macros:

" Our general policy is that anything that gives advantage is forbidden; anything that imbalances the game in favor of one player over another is strictly disallowed. With that said, we are aware that some utilities help players without impacting others, that is, they do not give anyone an advantage over someone else. "

Unfortunately, the only gem related API we get is gem to gold and vice versa. If Anet would add gem store items to the API then I could make a website that would give alerts but more likely than not, one of the established websites would beat me to it (which is fine).

I just want a way to make sure I don’t miss any good sales this month but sometimes I am very busy with work (I work 70+ hours a week sometimes) and if I can’t login every day to play, I’d still be willing to login for 2 min just to buy something and log back out. Gem Store Suggestion - Organize my bank

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TorsoReaper.8530

I’d be happy with just a drop-down to select what kind of items you want in each bank slot and an option to compact to them, but not as a gem store item. If they start microtransacting the game to death we’ll end up buying waypoints for $1.00 and the game will be over.

Whether this is a popular opinion or not, I do think they should microtransaction the heck out of this game (not waypoints =P) from the standpoint that they should offer lots more items at much lower price points. The reason things like League of Legends and Candy Crush are so popular is that the price they charge people for items is below the impulse purchase price limit for probably 80% of their customer base.

For example, in the case of Candy Crush, they only charge 99 cents for many items. Most people think “oh it’s only 99 cents, i’ll just buy one” yet end up buying “just one” every single day. This leads to $365/yr of revenue. Conversely Guild Wars 2 might charge $10 for a skin but 80% of the player base says “that’s too expensive, I can’t afford $10 for a skin” even though they might buy five $3 skins. This makes no actual economic sense but from a psychological standpoint it makes perfect sense.

why the hell would you pay for something to organize your bank when you could do it yourself? i mean there is nothing stopping you from doing it by yourself what a waste of money..

A “waste of money” is relative, I am an older player and my time is more valuable to me than $5 to $7 (which is what i think this item is worth). If it saves me 10-20 minutes once a week or once a month, I’d do it all day. It might even save me money because instead of just buying another bank tab, I would more easily be able to see what i can sell, salvage, or transfer to my mule character.

It’s an interesting idea. I wonder if it would be one of those things where one person would want things organized a certain way, where someone else would prefer a different sorting. I know how much I appreciate the “compact” option, so sorting is an intriguing idea.

IMO it doesn’t matter how it sorts because I would get used to the sort order once I do it a few times. But right now I have ascended rings next to food, keys next to materials, etc… Sometimes I spend like 20 minutes organizing my bank when I would rather have run a fractal.

I will say that pretty please, if this ever gets developed, do not make it like 1000 gems lol.

Positives:
LWS3 maps are great
Fractals are much improved (you do little pieces of fractals instead of 3 in a row)

Negatives:
HOT is still HOT. If you hated it before you’ll still hate it.
Leather prices are a mess so hopefully you don’t need medium armor
Player base is down by about 25% since HOT release based on inventory scraping by gw2efficiency or based on revenues to NCSoft

Gliding

Bouncing mushroom
Nuhoch Wallows
Exalted Markings

Those will let you go basically everywhere. If you want to go EVERYWHERE you’ll need poison lore, max gliding, etc…

Just as quality of life you’ll want Advanced Gliding in general and if you play anything regarding Living World S3 you’ll want Ancient Magics Counter Magic.

The problem with cycling gem store items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TorsoReaper.8530

TorsoReaper.8530

If we look at the more successful F2P models (ie: league of legends), Anet gem store needs a full revamp.

1) Gem store should be the best looking UI in the whole game and faster and easier to use than anything else.
2) Gem store items should be relatively cheap so that people make lots of impulse purchases.
3) Allow people to buy gems in smaller denominations than $10
4) Because of #2, gold to gem conversion should be nerfed to encourage people to buy gems and gem to gold should be buffed to encourage people to buy gems.
5) Should be a full time staff that just makes skins for everything and very very few items should be seasonal or limited time. The vast majority should be in the gem store at all times so that people will impulse buy things constantly.
6) Get rid of stupid crap like getting black lion tickets from the chest and make the chest worth buying. If i want a skin, let me give you my money. I want to give you my money, take my money. Sell me the skin I want, not a chance to get the skin I want.

Thats because most of the people in forum are crybabies that cant see that, even if arenanet gave a deserved Nerf (maybe in the wrong way but still deserved) to make Ele DPS in line with other classes, it still has the top DPS in the game.
And good thing that this damage come from and actually hard rotation, so it will be Pretty safe from eventual future Nerf.

You should start reading the actual numbers now that DPS meters are legalized. In a vacuum do Ele’s do the most paper damage? Sure. In reality? Most ele’s weren’t even hitting the max numbers because either they weren’t good enough to pull off the rotation or their team isn’t good enough to support them to pull off the rotation because they kept having to swap to other attunements.

The problem is Anet just goes by the paper numbers or whatever they see happening from top 1% raid teams and applies that to the entire player base which isn’t even where they will derive their revenue. GW2 sales numbers have been crap ever since HOT drove away 25% of the player base and this kind of crap might be fine for the 1% raid teams but the other 99% of the player base that actually needs to buy gems because they aren’t sitting on thousands of gold is going to get kittened off and leave. From a game design decision it was a bad idea. From a business perspective it was a bad idea.

And RTL? LOL. I will be shocked if D/D makes a comeback as meta. Believe me, when i played in the early days, I loved D/D. Nobody wants it to be viable more than me but come on man. Let’s be honest, that ship has sailed.

You don’t play ele do you? The things they buffed were things nobody used and the buffs weren’t strong enough to make anyone want to use them.

You don’t think about what you post before you post it do you?

Ele is over 3/4s of my play time over the last four years.

So RTL is unused huh? Strange how it hasn’t left the top three hot topics on the ele forums ever since the last patch where it was changed. Not to mention armor of earth and mistform, which were basically half of the defense of the original arcane/water bunker build.

We got 25-33% uptime buffs on nearly a dozen different abilities, but no, you’re right, that’s totally outweighed by a 7% dps nerf to one ability.

Get over yourself.

EDIT: Pardon me, there are actually some as low as a 15% buff, how horrible, that totally changes my mind. I’m being facetious, it does not, and you’re all being ridiculous

The point of nerfing air overload was “ele does too much dps”. Someone running a bunker build wasn’t doing “too much dps” in the first place. That’s the point. I’m glad you’re happy with the changes but from the reception of the forums, you’re in a minority. Get over yourself.

I’m still worried about the impact that the release of Leg Armor will have on MC. I can see it temporarily increasing the price of MC, but I don’t have faith in the price to come back down naturally

Yup. Thankfully anet are still watching this, and will react if the market does break because of a change in demand (eg: armor).

Don’t expect a day one reaction, of course, since just like the lillies being in high demand triggered by the current story, if it settles out people can either “pay high, get content early” or “pay low, but get content later”.

LOL, yea they will react to it just like how they “fixed” the leather pricing with the centaur farm. If Legendary Armor got released and MC pricing goes to 4G each, Anet would definitely do absolutely nothing.

Wait, what do we need hardened leather for again? Hardened leather is only a small part of crafting ascended armor and most leather that is needed to make the square has been getting cheaper over time.

Exotics? There’s named armor, including the one that really matters— berserker— and also karma armor. The HoT stats have always been expensive to craft; the cost has just been moved elsewhere. You get 2g a day from just doing dailies. If you can’t muster up the 100-150g, then you probably don’t need HoT exotics to begin with. Exotic Weapons + Rare Armor + Rare trinkets—-> Convert to ascended trinkets with laurels or map currency. I doubt you’ll notice the difference and save up tons of gold so you can make ascended weapons.

You need all kinds of leather for elonian squares but because of the new changes if you want to get pvp or fractal ascended gear you’ll now need about 4,000 thick leather sections which is basically 67 gold

I think now that Anet is finally admitting they won’t be the next ESL League of Legends type game, they are going for “Raids are the most important thing in the world, cater to the 0.00001% pro raid gamers” crowd. Which is obviously what they should do considering those guys have more gold stashed away than Smaug and probably never buy gems with real money. Why would they want to cater to the 85% of the player base that plays a few hours a day and buys gems regularly? That’s crazy talk!

Ele has sustain if they trait for it which means they lose dps and also means they are swapping to earth and water which means more lost dps vs a warrior that doesn’t have to do anything other than use normal skills. At this point, being an ele is like being a korean star craft player on the keyboard while other classes can do 1/4 the work for the same output.

I feel like Anet doesn’t know what to do with thief, the change endurance feels unjustified, nerfing our mobility and survival.

While pretty much all other classes got buffed on pvp.

I feel like the change to channeled vigor as unnecessary on pvp, thief was weak on season 5 and now it’s even weaker, we can’t 1v1 any class properly, our only role is to decap and +1 fights, if we throw ourselves at mid it’s just a AoE spam show where we are melted, thief life is hard against blocks, invunerability, bunkers, I urge anet to look on thief statistics like http://imgur.com/A3xhLFx for exemple and reconsider the thief balance changes, we’re the WORST 1v1 class, we’re the WEAKEST class, we cant take damage.

Only good players has change at winning on pvp, a normal thief will just drag teams down. Please, look at the statistics and reconsider some good changes on thief.

The one thing I would say, and this is coming from someone who has both a thief and an ele, is I would rather thief pvp than ele. Even according to the chart, the 1v1 win rate is basically the same. Except thief has mobility to cap points and it has stealth. If you walk right into a 1v1, you will probably lose. The chart is right. Thief should stealth, backstab, burst, and if the target isn’t dead or near death, run away and try again. You’ll never out sustain 1v1 but at least thief has some upsides. Ele is in such a crap spot in pvp it’s ridiculous.

Small off-topic suggestion: I think Anet should join random LFG raids with DPS meters on to see the real damage of the average population on certain professions to address better the way the meta uses them. And then manage to create a perfect balance where choosing one profession or another is actually relevant to the group and not everyone would go for the “best” one.

Unfortunately this would require them to play the game outside of their internal testing bubble

As a tempest im thourghly disapointed but ill try to refrain from complaining about that as its probobly all been said allready
but that aside my thoughts on this patch and many like it is it that it is just one big waste of time and assets. today we saw the tempest recive nerfs and buffs and when i look at it i cant help but think they are just fixing alot of the dmg thet done in the last round of nerffs by the blanket nerff to all CD’s
im sure many of you have seen this in these balance patches time and time again where Anet nerff something one month only to later down the line swing back to the idea of buffing it a little all this effort and they still havent got it right thats why i see balance patches as a large waste of resource for the most part
the problem i think realy stems from the fact that gw2 is not the type of game you gain lvls and new skills like other mmos witch i see as a big chance for other games to reabalance classes and bring new stuff to the table. HOT was the best thing to happen to this game to give us all new skills and change things up and move on from old builds/playstyles we each found our roles in raids and along come these balance patches to throw everything up in the air
im not saying we dont need balance patches now and again but Anet need to think more about progression in the game moveing on to new content/skills instead of dweling on old ones
imagine if they had not botherd with this balance patch and put that resource in to the head of the snake chapter mebey we would not have seen so many reused assets

Agree 100% with everything you said. If they are going to spend time doing something, just make every balance patch a buff to under-used weapons/skills/traits until all classes have several fun and viable builds. They only need to bring them up to the power level of that class’s best meta. If we think some classes just don’t have enough love, which all know what classes those are, we can continue to buff those classes’ meta build as well. This way over the long run, we have several fun builds.

Most of the people complaining haven’t even tried the changes yet, the patch has only been out for a couple of hours, it’s like the day job of some of these people is to sit and wait for a patch to be released and immediately post, some of these people have posted within minutes of the patch… how do you know how it plays within a couple of minutes, honestly? I can’t even change my build to where I want in a couple of minutes.

This is like saying “We have removed half the aces and all 10’s and queens from the deck” and saying “don’t jump to conclusions, you should play the game before deciding if there will be less black jacks happening”.

Seriously, not everyone is going to like these changes. Everyone has their own opinions, but you guys need to just chill out over the smallest things that get you worked up.

I think what is funny is Anet taking the long way to get to a mediocre outcome rather than the short way to get to a good outcome. What I mean is they could have left everything the same and looked at the underused weapons/traits/skills and buffed those to the level of the current meta builds. Instead they seem to randomly nerf and buff things without rhyme or reason.

Also, the fact that they said devs would be on to answer questions yet no devs are on, kind of speaks volumes about their ability to defend the changes in this patch, don’t you think?

TLDR: Anet doesn’t want our money

Sure they do. What they didn’t want is to set the rewards for that LS3 episode at a point where you, personally, feel it to be worth the money (or time, since gold => gems) to purchase it.

Which is reasonable: not everyone values those things the same way, so any point they pick is going to be below what some people would pay for the rewards, right on for others, and far too expensive for the last.

Personally, I’d buy it for the story, but obviously that’s even further from what you think is the value of the episode, so … that’s entirely legit. You can feel that way perfectly reasonably.

I buy my gems with money so not really a gold issue. I just don’t want to give money to something I don’t support which is RNG and an anti-player mentality. It might sound crazy but give me 1 node = 1 resource and just make the vendor charge more. At least in BF i know exactly what I’m getting when i go to farm a winter berry and i know exactly how many more I need to farm to get what i want. In general, people like that sense of progression. I am pretty sure this is why they created craftable legendaries. People want a sure sign of progression no matter how long the road.

Where did i even say im such an expert ? I merely meant that ive Seen insane builds in wvw, either supportwise or themselves being unkillable healingbots or ele’s that made my power warr completely useless.Ive had a guy that stood still and ate all my bursts on full zerk gs/axe ,he pm’d after it if i got bored yet.I know they cant do much dmg in the meanwhile either since theyre on earth/water alot but if these guys dont feel like dying, they won’t.

So translation: You got pwned by a good ele because you’ve never played ele in your life and now they need a nerf. Sounds like an L2P issue to me.

Where are the devs?

I want the devs to give hard math as to where the 7% air overload nerf came from. If they can show me ACTUAL MATH and not that they just rolled a 10 sided die and then kittened us in the kitten , I will be open to the change.

There are some insanely op ele builds around, you probably aren’t good enough to have them figured out yet i reckon.

I have been playing ele since day 1 and i promise you. The only “OP” build was against large hitboxes with meteor and then against small hitboxes with overload air. Both got nerfed. If you’re such an ele expert, show us all this magical ele build that does insane damage and doesn’t rely on overload air or meteor. We’re all waiting.

So, either the farm was meant to be pointless from the beginning, or it is a design failure. There’s simply no other option here.

I don’t know how many times we can say this and have people continue to not understand basic economics.

Your opinion about today´s update

The crazy part about the whole thing is everyone would have been happy with a balance patch that buffed the underloved traits, weapons, and skills. The #1 complaint is not enough build variety but instead of fixing that they just put on the blindfold and swing the nerf bat and then give token buffs that don’t compensate for anything. It’s like the people doing the balancing don’t even play the game.
