Mine usually downloads new content anywhere from 2MB/s to 3MB/s which is on the high end of what my ISP provides me, so I’m not thinking it’s the launcher actually throttling anything.

This is PAX2011 footage of the hud working on 3 screens, Chat box and everything else in the right place, so what went wrong??… Interesting if I may say so :P Do we have any feedback from NCSoft or Arena net at all regarding this? From what I understand this appears to be lack of programming skills or people taking short cuts to make these things happen when clearly they were working in a earlier build, when Surround gaming has been around for 3 years now and Nvidia are plastering GW2 on their site promoting this, yet lack of support seems like poor form to be honest, don’t get me wrong I love the game, but these software companies need to realise that surround gaming is the future and is growing at a rapid rate, and lack of support just means less customers in the future..

Yeah it was the tech demo videos of triple display setups for gw2 that prompted me to go the route I did with a new GTX 690 and 3 new BenQ XL2420T monitors. Granted the game still looks great, just these little details, it’s like finding sand in your scallops!

If your video card is factory overclocked (especially if it’s a 5xx series, my old 570 would just die at random until I did it…total waste of money) use something like eVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner to downclock it to the speeds of a standard model. Just go to newegg or w/e to get the correct clockspeeds for a non overclocked card.

People need to start their own threads rather than tagging on with a “I have this same problem!” Because you do not have this same problem at all.

Going back to the original poster, a BSOD will show in the event log, very very very rarely will it not. You are also prompted with a recovery notification when the OS starts up again. The complete absence of one is what still leads me to believe the computer is shutting itself off/rebooting itself as those will not show in the event log aside from event 41.

Sorry, I had it confused with this (which may be worth trying for some 32bit users too) http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/11377-Force-Windows-32-bit-Support-More-Than-3-2-GB-RAM-Include-Windows-7-Vista-2003-XP

PAE will not change the virtual memory allocation though so you will still have out of memory issues. You could combine /PAE with /3GB if you wanted to. But I don’t recommend it as the 3GB switch puts a clamp on your kernel’s available virtual memory and could lead to instability.

Truly the best option is to upgrade to a 64bit OS. As I mentioned in another thread, Windows 7 32-bit users can upgrade freely to Windows 7 64-bit without needing to purchase a new copy. The CD-Key/License is fully transferable between versions, legally and at no cost. You need only obtain a copy of the install media, however you feel comfortable doing so (torrent etc.) and enter your 32-bit cd-key when prompted during a fresh installation.

The /3GB doesn’t allow more than 3GB usage, it allows Windows to address up to 3GB of virtual memory to an application and the remaining 1GB to the kernel. As opposed to the typical split of 2GB/2GB. Has nothing to do with RAM.

Hey guys – I’m not entirely sure why connecting directly to the modem has resolved the issue for some players, but if you’re still getting the black screen issue I am curious if anyone could test this so I can see how many other players are able to resolve this issue in this fashion.

There’s 2 people now who’ve done it and fixed their issue lol. What is this?!

As I suggested in the other thread shinoba made regarding the router thing. Perhaps there’s something in GW2 that is streaming data to the client or a sync that occurs before or during a scene being rendered, that if it is interrupted the scene fails and the game crashes?

About the only thing I can think of is that the game is waiting for some data to sync or if information is being streamed to the client prior to rendering the scene and the router is stopping that from happening.

But I literally just pulled that possible explanation out of my butt, it’s just as likely to be leprechauns or solar flares.

As I said, I am dubious lol.

SLI Low GPU Usage

Tradewind.6913

It’s called occlusion culling. Objects deemed to be non-visible/blocked by an object are not rendered, in a city objects are frequently in your field of view and objects behind are either not rendered or rendered at a low resolution. In an open field your view distance is much higher increasing the number of renderable assets and depending on your LOD Distance setting far away objects will be rendered at a higher resolution as they are not obscured by anything.

The FPS Drop would just be coincidental as in a city you’re relying more on cpu/memory performance than GPU as you are in a populated area, even more so in overflow.

I do understand that. What I mean is, for instance when playing the secret world I could run it windowed at 1920×1080 leaving this side monitors open. Wondering if its possible to set the window size in GW2 basically.

Use Windowed mode and just resize the frame like a normal window by dragging the corners.

For surround you need a 4th Accessory display for your non-gaming related stuff. When surround is enabled, literally the 3 surround displays act as one very large display. Or run the game in Windowed mode as opposed to Windowed Fullscreen but you’ll have the window frame around the edges.

I haven’t had any screen darkening issues like above on nvsurround.

I had all the other issues though.

Also a gameplay bug with camera.

In nvsurround camera movement is severely limited compared to a normal screen resolution.

You will notice this when you go close up to walls and on jumping puzzles that you cannot move the camera properly while in nvsurround and switching to a windowed mode you will get the full rotation possible.

As everytime I do a jumping puzzle I have to flip to windowed mode to do it due to this.

I had that problem earlier, but I updated to the 306 drivers and that seemed to fix it for me. Though I also did a fresh installation of GW2 at roughly the same time so that may have done it too.

Yea I have a rosewill aluminum laptop cooler. Not sure if you seen the model of laptop is asus G73s. I wasnt sure if you have heard any problems with them overheating.

After looking quickly there’s a few threads about overheating problems with the G37S and driver issues if you’re using them straight from AMD as opposed to the ones supplied on the ASUS website. I would start there. Also it wouldn’t hurt to try and dust out the fans with some compressed air, as some people are indicating that 140F/60C+ for the video card is a bit too high for that particular model.

Still trying to figure out why I havent had this problem with any other mmo. I mean star wars online I was on probably 9 hrs straight with no problems. Its kinda strange.

Some games have different requirements and put more or less strain on some components or demand different support from product drivers.

If it’s a laptop that complicates things. It’s even more likely to be a heat related issue and the laptop is literally cutting power to save itself. As opposed to being underpowered or strained power supply, since I generally accept the idea that most laptop manufacturers aren’t that silly. Unlike desktop computers where people can upgrade things freely and run into PSU issues.

The heat may be generated in the other components within the laptop not just the gpu or cpu. Have you tried getting a laptop cooler?

Something like this?

Also make sure it’s not sitting flat on a surface, elevate the rear of it to allow airflow under the chassis as well.

event id 6 is a BIOS firmware issue, that options that control your cpu are incompatible with the OS. Can try updating your BIOS from the manufacturer’s website. It “shouldn’t” be causing this problem though.

Look under Windows Logs > System and look for a big red X with the word Critical next to it around the time it shut down. If it’s not there, then likely there was no BSOD so it’s still overheating or power.

You need only obtain a copy of the 64bit OS from whatever source you feel is appropriate and perform a clean installation.
