They havent said they are treating it as one. They havent said anything on the matter yet. The only info we have so far is that everyone who is participating in afk farming in a certain area are slowly getting issues suspensions from the game.
The first Dev post in the top link says that they’re not treating it “as an exploit as such.”
So don’t use the food, it’s not like 10xp per mob kill is going to affect the outcome of your leveling being drawn out unnecessarily.
People need to stop using that word, “viable.”
Maybe it was a bug? idk, watch some tv and chill out.
as far as I recall it was only working on; Butter/Iron Ore/Soft Wood Logs/Green Wood Logs & Dowels/Hard Wood Logs
as it indicates in the picture on that same news posting.
I’m sorry, maybe I missed it, but aside from the second thread the OP linked having the word “Exploit” in it where does the Dev state that it’s being treated as one? Sounds more like they’re just placating the person who started that thread and that they’re looking into ways on how to limit it’s benefits, just like the first Dev said.
Not that I’ll be upset if a wave of people get banned for it, since I’m a firm believer in the idea that if I have to ask someone else “is this ok to be doing?” It’s safe to say it’s probably not.
ArenaNet might shoot themselves in the foot. A lot of new people don’t even know you can level in another zone. I have shown at least 3 people how to do this.
I can picture new players strolling into Kessex Hills at level 13 dying a lot and getting discouraged, and uninstall the game….
Nomatter what the opinions are in this thread my response is the one that matters most. The bottom line. Customers.
Like who though? If they’re a completely new player to the genre I could sort of see that being the case, but anyone with even a small amount of experience with other MMO’s should know that there’s alternatives to your own starting zone and you need only travel to another to fill in the gaps.
At least I would hope so. But truly if they’ve played mmo’s before and don’t know that there’s more than one place to face level appropriate content then there is a much bigger problem at play…and it’s not with the game.

I’m curious what the expectation is of players these days when stepping into a brand new MMO such as GW2. What their prior experience is with other new MMO’s and the learning curve and complexity of the boss encounters in those games were when they too were first released.
Honestly guys after reading the dev post “end game re imagined” they don’t sound like they have any intention of changing there model for game content.if that is true, than I’m concerned that they’re not interested with the communities opinion unless it bites there wallet.
Why should they? Also what do you mean by the “community” are people who enjoy the current model not part of that community? Does this “community” only comprise of the people who bought the game knowing what it had to offer up front and are now trying to tell them that they need to completely alter their game?
If you’re involved from the beginning of the DE you’ll get Gold. Even if your only contribution is spamming your #1 ability for the entirety of the fight. Go ahead, try it. People getting Silver or less are likely dead for the duration or come into it half way through.
Capping DE’s to certain numbers is completely contrary to the whole idea of them to begin with. Massive dynamically scaling encounters with no ceiling to the number of people who can be involved.
mob/boss drops and chests as far as I am aware. Even a moderate amount should provide a good result.
I’m 16 and still in Queensdale on my alt, I filled in with about 4 of the first quests in Plains of Ashford to fill a gap from 13 to 14, since I was higher than beetletun/monastery stuff but still a bit too low for godslost swamp, but that’s it.
I think people falling behind are just missing something, whether it’s skipping or having poor contribution in DE’s or bypassing mobs, idk.
I guess maybe we just don’t understand what the resistance to actually leveling is…?
I’ll be honest I didn’t read much beyond the first posts. So if this is a repeat, oh well.
OP you obviously expected a GW1 with updated graphics. GW2 never promised to be that.
Pretty sure that’s the end of that.
Yeah at 50% chance for it to destroy the item there’s no way in hell anyone is going to “upgrade” their legendary.
You’d be surprised! Wealthy players or those who enjoy the high risk, high reward would take advantage of such a feature. Imagine getting lucky and fully upgrading a legendary weapon. It really would be legendary, then.
After what has been 1 week into the dozens of weeks of making my Legendary I’d rather sit on a lemon reamer than risk losing it
Don’t forget poor ol’ Symbian either!
Where all the single lettuce at?
What happens in veges stays in veges.
Android app would hit a much wider market.
Why does it have to be either or? Making apps for Android is somewhat more difficult than for iOS. Just based on the variety of hardware available for one.
Then of course while Android may be relatively dominant in the smartphone world as far as OS’s go, iOS is absolutely crushing everything in the tablet market.

Nope, fun is over. It has been killed.
Henge, just for the sake of answering :P
Night could be ALOT more dangerous.
Cuz more Creepers spawn at night!
Make mail restricted until level 10, or perhaps the end of your first personal story arc.
I like you. Which is odd, because I usually don’t like salad.
Well they will now that you brought attention to the derail!
Because “Cannibal Women In The Avocado Jungle Of Death” made no sense, and World Of Warcraft was already taken.
I’d play the kitten out of that game.
Cannibal Women, not World of Warcraft that is.
When multiple others interpret your posts the same way, it may be time to refine your communication skills, instead of trying to refine everyone else’s interpretation skills.
Your writing posture does not translate into socially decent communication, no matter how many times you say we are interpreting it improperly.
It’s a series of humorous, yet cynical, anecdotes. As someone else said already, “lighten up.”
Wow Tradewind reading your posts, you sound like a real downer. Go outside and have some fun, life is a wonderful thing.
This is what I mean by “doesn’t translate.”
No it does translate. I have seen people like you so I understand but I don’t think your helping yourself at all. It’s you that doesn’t understand other people. If people can all chat with each other and have a good time and you’re the only one who thinks they’re “unwashed masses”, then clearly they’re not the problem.
Obviously you didn’t read it all that well because that’s not at all what was said.
But carry on, I’m actually not being crass or anything but clearly you’ve interpreted it differently.

I’ve been guilty of this during my whole time leveling. Most of my interactions with other players was mowing down mobs together.
But then I met her, as we each plunged a greatsword into opposite sides of the centaur our eyes met amidst the blood spray. Hypnotized by the sight of each other we slowly drove our blades deeper into the beast until we met face to face and met with a passionate kiss. It was love at first kill with the centaurs death rattle serenading our union.
Yeah see, no.
My Mesmer is admittedly a human female, why? Because I feel that all the human males walk like they have scoliosis. I had some charr comment after we killed a skill point challenge that I was “sexy” and referred to me as “baby.” I replied with “I have a kitten” and walked away. Interaction is not wanted.
I guess there’s also the unique perspective for me, I used to run a rather large LAN party in North America and after a decade of interacting with the unwashed masses of “typical gamer land,” I just really don’t want to talk to them anymore. I much prefer to be left alone, I’ll help you on Veterans and Champions and appreciate the same but I really don’t care that you like stuff.
I know that maybe sounds mean….but it’s more ambivalence than malice.
How do you know we’re unwashed? Some of us do bathe
Because even by the end of day 1 out of 3, I wanted to cut my nose off. It’s everything horrible and as the coordinator of the event I had to deal with probably all of them at least once. I’d go outside for a smoke and come back in and it was like being hit in the face by a pillowcase full of salty wet underwear.
No, I like my Haka. None of this weird pony riding kitten dance.

Yeah, ANet I love you and I love this game, but that was a big steamy one.
Just checking in after the weekend to see if you’ve all sprouted some new chutes or if it’s time to get the fertilizer out.
I’ll be honest, I’m a bit of an introvert, I play games with friends and have done so with the same people for the last 13 years. If I actually wanted to talk to you, you’re likely in my guild already. I’ve also found that my opinions and “sense of humour” doesn’t always translate well and often gets me in trouble :P
Coconut Bars are the way to go anyway.

No I get what you’re proposing, I still don’t like that you get to cherry pick something off the cart of goodies just for completing it the one time. Or for completing the Explorable paths once. There needs to be some preservation of the body of work needed to look awesome, since that is what we’re talking about in the end. I would however support a weekly or a daily idea that completion of explorable modes perhaps rewarded a few extra emblems. But not a free item, not ever.
+1
Henge need a permanent home to be better than everyone else!
Why though?

Maybe I’m a masochist but I don’t like the idea of getting a participation award just for doing arbitrary content. If we’re going by comparison to WoW I personally feel the whole inclusion of cheap dungeon gear/badge rewards etc. as cheapening the entire process. I personally like working for something and getting the reward at the end of the process.
You’re downscaled anyway to the appropriate level for the area….
Have you tried auto attack with ability #1? Ctrl+Mouse 2 to toggle it. You still need to initiate combat by either targeting the mob and pressing 1 or right clicking, but it’d solve your whole problem with strafing and hitting it.
kitten Google is hard.
Why not? Is being level 80 something special and needs to be preserved?
Option A.) Buy Gems from Anet directly and convert to Gold for a relatively fair price with no consequences.
Option B.) Buy Gold from online marketplaces illegally, likely get a better return per dollar. Likely get yourkitten banned permanently as the only means to get the money to you is via mail. Leaving a nice paper trail.
kitten me in the face if this gets introduced. Holy kitten.
Because if you’re looking to play Elementalist properly, at least in it’s current state, you should be cycling your attunements regularly. Far more “stance dancey” than just a weapon swap.
I would say it’s the nature of the game, you’re given an easy weapon swap for a reason. From the start you’re not meant to be sitting there with only one weapon combo the entire tire.
One point on Legendaries, what makes you think they won’t be “rare?” considering the time and material commitments making them somewhat prohibitive for a lot of “casual” players?
Also , when did “endgame” become synonymous with instanced raid crawls?
The rest just strikes me as “wait and see”, the game hasn’t even been out for a month yet and a few of those items (housing etc.) have already been touched on.
If this is how you feel, all I can say is don’t ever play Elementalist.
