After thinking about it a bit more Debs I’m not entirely sure that’ll apply. It might since the systems work basically the same way, but I’m leaning towards that being specifically geared towards the Dungeon caps. As opposed to DE’s.

Tradewind.6913

No, you made an assumption that I’m only playing the game for 30 minutes at a time and have no goals like legendaries based on misinterpreting my comment on how the diminishing returns have not affected me yet.

seems either you didn’t want to or couldn’t see the “maybe” and the several scenarios I provided.

either way, going around “y u mad?” just because it doesn’t affect you YET is quite shortsighted. you might have found alternatives that are entertaining for you, for others these alternatives aren’t. so the question how this game is supposed to be played if the message is “either play as you’re supposed to or suffer the consequences” is still valid, especially given the fact that arena wants people to play (and in effect buy their gems/expansions).

Naw, if I was going the route of “y u mad?!” you have permission to shoot me. Just adding an opinion and alternative viewpoints. At this juncture it’s just agree to disagree and it sucks that you guys feel that way and I can’t help. /shrug

That’s a lot of generalizations on things that you can’t possibly know.

now, it’s actually quite easy to figure out when you claim you haven’t encountered the DR system yet.

I said it hasn’t affected me, that’s not the same as I have not encountered it. The difference is that I just don’t care all that much. I make my gold by other means and fill my time with activities that don’t involve farming for inordinate amounts of time. Leveling alts, hopping between dragon spawns, playing the trading post etc.

hu? isn’t that what I said? you might not be affected by it now, but even you will feel the repercussions later if they stick to it. like doing that dragon spawn if only 3 people bother to show up because the rest has DR on drops and karma.

No, you made an assumption that I’m only playing the game for 30 minutes at a time and have no goals like legendaries based on misinterpreting my comment on how the diminishing returns have not affected me yet. If you were perhaps referring to the royal “you” and not me specifically you might want to have clarified that, since you were quoting me directly in your response.

No one can deny that it hasn’t been down a great deal. To the point of making things down right annoying if not miserable for those interested in trading.

It’s wrong to discount the entire game as being “broken” though. Compared to most other releases the launch of GW2 has been mostly without any extended downtime. Sure there are bugs, but you can still play the game. I’ve yet to find a time where I can’t even login to go kill stuff.

Tradewind, In 3 months, you will be wondering where everyone to PvP against and PvE with has gone. I know you want to be the chivalrous defender of Anet, but they don’t need you defending them. They need to understand the constructive criticisms that the community is trying to deliver.

Stop acting like a fanboi troll, and go play the game that you love soooo much. While the rest of us who would normally be playing the game we loved try to explain why we will be playing less and less.

Another person who thinks they make up some vast majority of players. All I said was to post it in the other thread. But I can see from your response, your overactive narcissism wouldn’t allow your opinion to be anywhere else but post #1.

Why are you trolling the forums instead of playing the game? You obviously are refreshing very fast to quote a deleted thread that was up for 5 seconds. Get a life dude.

I’m at work? If I could play it at work I likely would. How unfortunate for you that my dismal life, in your eyes, allows me to read forums all day and still get paid for doing it.

YouTube videos are flagged automatically, it’s not as if someone at ArenaNet is scouring the internet for videos. When you try to monetize a video, it’s reviewed, if it’s in violation of fair use it gets terminated. Not hard.

What would be the alternative though? Everyone wants their cake and to eat it too here. Without really considering the alternative. Had they done nothing about the exploitation of resources in this game. I’m of a mind that this is a temporary thing anyway. Until a more elegant solution can be derived. But I can’t say it’s ever really impacted me any. I guess we play this game very differently. Which is why I get upset when people start using words like “everyone,” not you specifically. But really, in this case ANet couldn’t win, but at least this solution has less long term issues, if it does prove to be temporary as I believe it to be.

The anti-farming code does get frustrating when you are trying to gather materials to level up your crafting skills. I’m just making level 80 rare armor and having a difficult time gathering stuff. I am somewhat dreading what I’ll have to do to get exotics.

The anti farming code is very basic, all you need to do is move to another area after some time. It’s meant to trap simple bots literally running in a circle farming materials. Just don’t linger.

ANet wants you to go to all the different zones and play with all of the content, not just run the same areas over and over. That’s why the downlevel system is in place, and that’s why repeated farming is penalised.

If A-Net truely wants us to go all over the map they should lower the waypoint costs. We are getting mixed messages. Hey don’t waypoint all over the place because it will cost you more than you can handle. But don’t stay in the same place either…

Waypoints are an optional luxury. They said to explore the world, not “hop around small areas with a mouse click.” I still find it unfathomable that people can’t keep up with their waypoint costs naturally by just playing the game.

If you’re moving around as much as you say you are you shouldn’t be affected by the imposed limitations to begin with, exception is maybe the DE cap. But how much karma do you really need to accumulate in a day to make yourself happy?

I personally need over 550,000karma just for the obsidian shards I need for just one aspect of the legendary I am working towards. At roughly 379karma per DE….. thats 1452 DEs needed. Now throw in the diminishing returns, remind me again why I am getting diminishing returns when I need such an obscene number of events just for ONE ingame goal? Even if I managed to do 100 DEs a day, it will still take me 14.52 days just to accomplish that one goal, to make one item, which is only one step of many to complete a legendary.

Its asinine, period, the end, there is no argument for it, no amount of fanboying can defend the decision to limit game play.

See why’d you have to go and ruin a perfectly reasonable post with “fanboying.” That being said, completing a legendary isn’t meant to be a matter of a few weeks. It’s meant to be completed over months. If gating players via Karma accomplishes that, does that not preserve the “sanctity” of owning a legendary in the long run?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation

A. Double-click a transmute stone. There are at least two levels of transmute stones so make sure you have one big enough to handle your gear level. The stone’s level limits are listed on the stones.

B. Drag the two matching slot and weight gear choices into the left and right slots (two light boots for example).

C. Click the left or right stat window. The stats will move to the center.

D. Click the left or right augment window. The augment moves to the center.

E. Click the gear picture of choice. It moves to the center.

F. At this point, if all is good, the “Item Transmutation” button will highlight. Click that button to complete or the X button at the top to cancel.

G. Once something moves to the middle, the discarded set disappears. Click the center selected piece to bring up both choices again.

Well, considering it is estimated that you would need somewhere between 1-2 million karma for the gear, and the items sold by the Balthazar vendor for the legendaries, and only getting ~350 per event without deminishing returns….a whole lot more than we are allowed to get.

So this is a matter of long term goals versus “I want everything now!!” Got it.

Talk about intentionally limiting yourself for no reason. If your world consists of only Cursed Shore I feel bad for you because there is so much more to do.

This is one example. The same can be said for anywhere I go, IE Frostgorge Sound, WvW, and dungeons.

Way to limit your understanding.

Go see other races? Maps? Events? I have completed the explorer achiev. I wvw. I help friends. I play the mystic forge slot machine. I play the TP game. I do jumping challenges.

The point is that in a game LARGELY BASED ON KILLING MONSTERS FOR “STUFF,” wth am I being punished for …….killing monsters.

EFFORT should equal REWARD

NOT more EFFORT equals LESS REWARD

If you’re moving around as much as you say you are you shouldn’t be affected by the imposed limitations to begin with, exception is maybe the DE cap. But how much karma do you really need to accumulate in a day to make yourself happy?

You lost me at the “mostly commonly shared by the community,” like you have some sort of survey of the entire game. Stop acting like you people speak for the rest of us. Especially when your opinions mostly comprise of uneducated bull kitten to begin with.

The only uneducated thing I’m seeing here Tradewind is someone who can only criticize others by insults. Come back when you actually have a well placed opinion.

Why so we can have some sort of circular argument on why you’re right and I’m wrong and vice versa? This thread has already consumed 2 minutes of my time, to skim through and write these short responses, which is more than it deserved to begin with. Especially since you seem to fall into the category of people who wanted GW2 to just be GW1 with better graphics.

What’s your point exactly? That the game, which released just over 3 weeks ago, hasn’t unlimited content? That you don’t have to spend most of your free time grinding dungeons to get gear that doesn’t (why exactly is g-imp censored? This is ridiculous.) you? How about you log out and come back a few days or weeks later? This is the beauty of a subscription-less model.

I don’t understand how people are not grasping the problem or the ramifications that the anti farm script and diminished returns on DEs bring about.

Let me spell it out in the most basic of the english language…..

I play a thief atm as my main.

I often play in the Cursed Shore Orr map.

It a one of only 2 (?) lvl 80 maps.

There are not many DEs to do there.

As a thief, if I personally as an individual participate in any of the DEs in the Cursed Shore, it only takes 2 DEs to get slapped with the anti farm script in regards to loot.

If I decide to kill monsters outside of the DEs to gain loot for crafting or to make money so that I can buy crafting supplies, I am only able to “grind” for approx 30mins before the anti farm script kicks in, and I get no more loot.

The anti farm script and diminishing returns prohibit productive game play on many levels……keep in mind that guild wars 2 is largely based on the premise of “killing monsters,” “taking their stuff,” “using said stuff to make new stuff.”

Talk about intentionally limiting yourself for no reason. If your world consists of only Cursed Shore I feel bad for you because there is so much more to do.
