You lost me at the “mostly commonly shared by the community,” like you have some sort of survey of the entire game. Stop acting like you people speak for the rest of us. Especially when your opinions mostly comprise of uneducated bull kitten to begin with.

Worst use of the word “viable” ever. Do people even know what it means?
Also if you’re still running a Dual Core processor you’re going to be at least a generation behind now. Soon to be 2.
I STILL don’t get this. The cost is like what, 3s on average? Are you guys just TPing everywhere to see whats going on or something?
If you TP somewhere, kill a few enemies, boom, ou made your 3s back.
But these are the people who get different loot from everybody else, they’re the ones whose inventories were constantly mired with butter and chocolate bars that they couldn’t sell. Show some compassion!

Æstrid Ingegärd. An actual viking name.
Except Ingegärd is usually a given name :P
You have a easy version already, it’s called Story Mode and you’re able to do it as often as you like.
This, seriously. Was my first thought when I saw the title of this thread. If your PUG can’t finish an explorable, it had no business being in it to begin with.
Waypoints are an optional convenience. The sooner people realize that the better. Also it’s not that hard to make money in this game.
most if not all one shot abilities are telegraphed ahead of time, either through animation or big nasty red circles…otherwise it’s from biting off more than you can chew. Being downed for the most part is user error. REviving isn’t a bad thing, you get achievements for X number of revives plus XP. Your other Cons as I suggested, wholly intentional as far as I’m concerned.
I suck at making names, I’ve been using this one as mine for like 8 years. I don’t have much imagination…
Male Charr Ele – Korr Baneflare…Korr because it sounded Charr’ish, it really has no meaning beyond that. Friends decided on the Bane warband because we had all just watched Batman so it seemed obvious…flare because it’s an elementalist.
Female Human Mesmer – Porcia Orestes, random name + A Perfect Circle song, or part of greek mythology, whatever you prefer. Works for me.
Why? I enjoy logging in to see the gigantic stupid paper bag hat my Elementalist is wearing.
Where does it say the zone is supposed to get you to 17? It’s a 1-15 zone. At 14 you’re capable of leveling in the 15-25 zone. Move on.
Perhaps he’s referring to the map overlay which says it’s appropriate for levels 1-17?
I play males, why would I play a female?
Look at pixelated booty?
I have a nice set of booty to look at in real life. I don’t need anymore stimulus. But hey thats cool for you if you wanna play a girl like shes your virtual barbie doll, just remember, when you call someone gay… you’re presenting yourself a girl :S
What can I do to become more alpha like you?
Going to other low level zones for the other races is a good plan, that or crafting will net you some decent XP but can be expensive if you do not have the materials already. Finding more dynamic events around Queensdale and so on.
male Charr, female human. REally only went with the female human because human males seem to have scoliosis by the way they walk and fight.
Yeah, the Legendary weapons are there as a way for people to consume large amounts of wealth/time for bragging rights.
Its basically there for the guys who absolutely must have the best available at any cost and have the lifelessness to do it.
Yeah any and all investment of time is equal to having no life. Good work.
Reading comprehension FTW ladies and gents!
Never said that people won’t get there eventually given enough time. Anyone can get there given enough time. This mechanic was put in the game so that people who care so much about grinding gear that they spend TONS of time on the game getting it have something a little more difficult to go after. Those people, yes, usually have no life outside of the game.
No, talking to your “friends” on Ventrilo doesn’t count as socializing (not you personally Tradewind…just in case you misread that one).
What’s missing? You outright said that legendaries only exist for people who need to have the best and have the “lifelessness” to achieve it. If you had intended something else perhaps you should have worded it better?
Had you said the people who already have it completed are no lifers, you might be on to something there, but that wouldn’t really apply to the person who spends the next 6 months crafting it at their leisure. Just something to consider.
despite the boiling passive aggressive nature of this thread I actually agree with pretty much everything in the OP’s list as it stands today.

You started out strong then you went all Junior Law School on it and lost all momentum. Keep “grinding” away, nobody cares you don’t have a full set of exotics 3 weeks after launch.
You’d think, after “chewing through” all of those formerly monthly subscription based MMOs, (I assume you played them then, as Aion and SWTOR have only recently gone free to play) you’d realize that NO game can meet the expectations that you have. You suggest “all it would take…” when those other games couldn’t meet those demands, either. What makes you think this or any game could keep up?
Don’t you think it’s unfair to foist your unreasonable expectations on a game that, from the beginning, said it was going to have no subscriptions and was going to be nontraditional in terms of endgame?
I only mentioned the games that failed, not the ones that succeeded. The same players who quit all those games played DAoC for many years. The reason is because of the endgame RvR progression. It took years to get the highest realm rank in DAoC. Not to mention that the RvR was insanely fun, but without the realm ranks, wouldn’t have been so addictive.
Players continue to play WoW (or did for many years) because of the endgame progression.
I’ve yet to see an MMO succeed long-term that did not offer continual progression. If you know of one, go ahead and share it.
It might be a stretch on the definition of “continual progression” but I’d say EVE is up there on that list. The progression curve in that game will make your head spin if you find GW2 to be flat. But that game has been around and profitable for 9.5 years.
The less than stellar pro-reviews have really targeted endgame being an issue

Lol this is as bad as going to Rotten Tomatoes to decide what movie you should watch this weekend.
Yeah, I thought Gigli was fantastic, definitely Oscar worthy material!
I agree, but your teammates need to recognize that your clones have different colored names…

People actually read and rely on review sites still?
3 weeks since release and there are still bugged skill points in Orr. Yeah sounds like we owe them an apology for having criticism.
Stop the presses, gw2 is the first mmo to have bugs!
Elementalist with weapon swaping…I would be a happy, happy man.
Why would you wanna weapon swap from two daggers to two more daggers? :p
Bioware ignored player feedback
Bingo. What you’re reading on this forum is player feedback. Defenders of that other game posted the same kind of defenses you are posting here. I know because I was one of them. Diehard fan. Its stupid. I’m not making that mistake again.
What’s going to ruffle the feathers of Arenanet is a slowdown in their microtransaction activity. And don’t think it won’t happen. Who do you think spends the most cash on gems? Powergamers.
Bioware/EA killed swtor before it was even launched. Had nothing to do with ignoring post-launch feedback from the unwashed masses.
You need to leverage your tradeskills. I made 20g in a couple nights doing nothing but sitting in town; buying low, selling high, crafting armor or runes or mystic forging cheap materials into better ones. Just for fun I mystic forge cheap rare dyes, it gets expensive but if you luck out and find yourself an Abyss Dye or any of the other valuable ones you can make as much as 10x your investment back just like that.
As for the scaling rewards I was referring to dungeons yes, not outside. Though they do drop low level crafting materials which sell for quite a bit.
You make far too many assumptions and gross hyperbole to really be taken seriously at this point. Case in point I am a “raider” and have been since 2004 in that “other mmo” and I disagree with your viewpoint entirely.
Waypoints are an optional expense, I agree that if they are your primary mode of transit in gw2 you will find yourself very poor quickly. That being said gold is not hard to come by and even downscaled mobs have a chance to drop level appropriate gear worth more. Waypoints are also free in dungeons so I’m not entirely sure what you’re meaning on the dungeon waypoints thing.
I’m not attacking, just discussing. It should also be clear at 80 that gold is one of the limitations in this game, but it’s also not hard to make gold if you put the time into it.
unfortunate random sigil lol, can salvage it for the materials and a chance to remove the sigil but it’s not overly valuable either. Just overwrite it with your own.
Its you people that say “its fine, let them leave in droves” that are going to long term harm this game.
You know what would be even worse for it? If ArenaNet did a complete 180 on everything they’ve been saying for the past three years just to cater to a no-lifer minority that still thinks MMO = gear treadmills.
Everything on this game is a treadmill. like any other mmos, all they did was make the leveling process abit more fun (which it was).
So why can’t they have an end-game with the same philosphy? why would making a fun end-game be against this philosophy?
BEcause casuals like yourself would complain you couldn’t get epic gear because you don’t like raiding?
Well why doenst “if you dont like it dont do it” apply to people like you then? hypocritical waste of time.
Insulting people and calling them “casuals” doesn’t boost your viewpoint any. Especially given there is no frame of reference for what you deem to be a “casual” and how you’re above them for whatever reason. Just makes you look like a pedantic child.
What does the forum post count matter? the problem exists and is being talked about, that alone is where the slippery slope starts unless the developers act in accordance.
Except that group is trying to make broad stroke changes for the other 97% of people who may otherwise be absolutely content or gasp enjoy the game as it stands.
So no, you don’t speak for the rest of us and it’s incredibly egotistical to assume your opinions are more valuable than the rest of us.
Its an unfortunate occurrence in all forums in all games where the naysayers dominate the conversation, while those people that like the game rarely post or even bother with forums.
Which gives the illusion that “everyone” is horribly dissatisfied with the game. When its really a pretty small percentile.
It’s definitely the outspoken minority vs the silent majority, which makes sense. People are going to be less inclined to voice opinions if they’re positive as opposed to soap-boxing inane issues.
This “Vocal Minority” ends up being the majority like most failed MMOs, this is the same defence rubbish you get it every one of these forums.
Reality here is this game is missing a gigantic element of what makes an MMO so good in the more popular ways of the genre.
The reality is also that there is no reason for it really not to exist in this game either.
So we are fighting for it.
Its you people that say “its fine, let them leave in droves” that are going to long term harm this game.
No the reality is that it is a miniscule minority of people. Right now on this forum there is 35 pages at 29 threads per page. Average of about 23 replies per thread. So 23345 posts on this forum alone, lets say it’s 24000. Suggestions is higher ofc, 63 pages but the average seems to be lower, about 17 per thread average, so about 31059, lets call it 32000. So about 56000 between these two forums where there’s likely a higher concentration of complaints and naysayers. How many copies did GW2 sell? 2 Million+?
So even then these two forums, assuming every post is unique (which they aren’t, not even close) could only possibly account for 2.8% of the game’s current players. How many of that 56000 do you imagine are people who are displeased with the game? Half? I’d wager it to be a lot less than half. Probably closer to 1/3 of that and I truly believe that to be a generous estimate. Even more so when you consider these aren’t all people who are dissatisfied enough to be quitting, but maybe just want to see some changes but are otherwise happy and keep playing.
So for that “vocal minority” to become any sort of majority is a long way off…
What costs? There are costs? Unless you’re being chain downed in a dungeon the costs are far outweighed by the loot you received along the way. If you are however then the problem may not be with the game itself?
You’re still trying to justify having everything now versus having it a month or so down the road. Maybe you’re playing on your own? I don’t know, but between myself and friends we all have different goals for dungeons and spread the joy around accordingly. Not just hammering away at one place because I want my shinies now.
Its an unfortunate occurrence in all forums in all games where the naysayers dominate the conversation, while those people that like the game rarely post or even bother with forums.

Pretty certain interrupts work regardless if the CC/Stun/Daze had any effect on them or not. I could be wrong and it was just coincidence but that has been my observation.
I’ve mostly done them on my elementalist and I’m stupid about it half the time, so I die more often than anyone else, which is still maybe 1 or 2 a run. But whatever.
wtb colorblind mode.
I have no real issues except with #1, you could idk…ask them?
I would say bots are a low priority? Or perhaps you’re not actually providing much for them to go on, or maybe they’re not bots?
Frostgorge will be a bit more XP, as it’s a “conventional” zone with heart quests and DE’s. Orr is mostly just DE’s.
I would say that your group had unrealistic expectations.
Gear increases while leveling does not equal a power grind. You’re just scaling to match the content, if anything it’s a gold sink.
At 80 there are no difference between items within the same tier. All rares have the same damage, all exotics have the same damage, the only thing that changes between them is a distribution of their stats.
That, does not equal a power grind. To add +whatever power upgrades to weapons completely defeats the purpose of the items being equal to begin with. You just end up replacing the whole thing with some uncontrollable RNG kitten fest. Where Person A may outdo Person B not by skill but purely by luck.
What part of GW2 not being a power grind do you not yet understand?
No, the combat is designed around weapon swapping, or in the case of elementalists attunement swapping. Sticking to just one weapon for anything other than just blasting low level stuff while farming, is actually damaging your output.
You’re clamoring for new content 2 weeks after release. There’s no time table that says you must have X gear by Y date. I think that’s what people are missing. The point isn’t to forsake your family, work and friends to grind out gear, but to do it gradually.
Personally I think “that other MMO” has spoiled a lot of people in terms of shattering the whole concept of long term goals.
I want there to be a reason I’m doing it so in that sense I agree that rewards kinda suck, but you’re not really there to win rares and other stuff, you’re there for emblems.
The emblems is another problem for me, I personally don’t like that they make that each dungeon gives an unique type of token for an unique weapons/armors set (which on differ with others on the looks). It’s kind of forced players to do one dungeon over again and again.
They can make it only one kind of token for all the set, so, for example, I can enjoy doing all the dungeons while still gettin’ the set I want.
How is that going to stop people from running one dungeon? Instead of running the one they need, they’ll just run the one that’s easiest and fastest to accumulate as many tokens as they possibly can. You’re replacing one “grind” with another, just cleverly disguised, but at the same time you cheapen the process all together.
Dungeons are meant to be a challenge. Or at least they should be. The idea of being able to slam through a dungeon in 30 minutes, collect your loot and move on is about as exciting as anal polyps. I, personally, like the challenge. I want there to be a reason I’m doing it so in that sense I agree that rewards kinda suck, but you’re not really there to win rares and other stuff, you’re there for emblems.
Your downscaling problems just strike me as a personal problem tbh…a disconnect between expectations and results.
Someone plays on Jade Quarry!
Not sure I like mixing even more PvE with PvP.
I’ve had little issue making gold for what I need thus far. You need to actually work at it though. Most recently was Mystic Forge Conduits, made a small fortune on those just hanging on to them for a while until the price quadrupled. Pirate runes were also a good golden goose for a while, not so much now as demand has stifled while doubloons remain high. Right now it’s Ectos, get yourself a mystic salvage kit, run some events, salvage the rares.
There is money to be made if you actually go out and do it.
What event was it and what level are you currently?
Read my next post. I couldnt edit the post before, so i made a second one. It needs to be punished as it makes a mockery of the entire economy and their plans for it.
Ok, sure. However you said that the Dev’s haven’t said what they’re treating it as, when in fact they have. So I’m not sure how your “feelings” on the matter are relevant, other than you have feelings.
