WHY DO DEVS….. think balancing a game = making classes worse (which makes game worse) ….. RATHER THAN….. make other classes strong with more skills or etc and making the game more fun and interesting. seems pretty simple to me.
This nerf set is actually the last of everything. backstab will come in feb and then thief will get removed in may ….im guessing. what ajoke. thief has no place in game anymore. without the init gain d/p is dead/ s/d is hurt alot and so is s/p and d/d.
I would like to say goodbye and address a few things to help you comprehend why!
I wont rant or rave about your horrible decisions. I dont want to be the most OP class or the BEST at anything. I played Thief bc it was different and unique. I have paid to play, I made Quip Dreamer and Incinerator, i have almost all my account points. So why am i quitting after being one of the more elite players in pve and pvp? Here are a few things i will say:
1)You took a fun class who was slightly OP coming out of the gates and balanced him by mid January 2013.
2) Post January 2013 we saw ever increasing buffs with other classes and twice the nerfs with thieves due to the fact other players are bad and cant help themselves if they were given god mode. I understand you need to make other players happy. but instead of JUST giving them better/stronger skills you did that PLUS destroy theif. the only real buffs you gave thief was LS and steal CD reduction. neat but not great.
3) You have made it apparent there is not future for thief lovers in this game. stealth has been fine for a long time and you need to make a casual game or one for good players. its hard to do both. Your hardcore talented players are leaving as im sure youve noticed. the casual ones obv are the whiners and dont spend much money. whatever.
4) So many bad decisions have also made me lose faith in ANET. I dont see myself buying any of your future games as i would hate to have a class i fall in love with and have it destroyed bc of bad players. and i mean bad players. bc even nubs get better.
best of luck anet. i hope you wake up to the wicked ways of your decisions. i doubt ill be checking out any of your future releases. the path of gw2 is dissapointing at best. no new classes. no character development. no new skills. cant think living world is going to keep you afloat. the foundation of any game is classes , storyline and skills/graphics. get back to the basics and make your game fun. good bye.

i bought somewhere in the neightborhood of 80-85 of these. i had 285 when i started. i had no idea this happened. i decided to forge all my cores into lodes bc i thought the prices were going to tank on the day where everyone opened their boxes from saving them on event farming. i had no notice of the change in your live video or the updated page …. can we plz get a refund or something? i mean 40-42 g isnt exactly chump change :P

I probably need to get better at watching my HP, but auto-attack is never what brings me out of it. It’s always me trying to dagger 5 at the same time it procs. That .5 sec delay is deadly. XD

what am i missing? s/d takes so much collateral/AOE dmg thakittens hard to play well…even with the evades that are usually less than 40% of the total activation/skill time. s/d is ….fun. but FAR from op. the dmg is medium. defense medium. no invis low condi removal low spike dmg and high mobility with no stun removal or blinds. pffft. they are nutz
dreamer is my FIRST…….legendary…i never equip it unless im at a boss where i need range….even then usually p/p is better. so i chose a legendary that i used all the time in wvw to not using it at all

3. Free and Easy Kills by The Perfect Killing Machine Class; Thief.

The Reason I also believe why Guild Wars 2 World is quickly becoming Avoidable of Players.. (see New thread) – ‘Guild Quit due to lack of wvw contents’ is because of Arena.Net playing Favoritism.
I Hope Many of You Know what that is and the reason i say that is because after knowing the obvious reasons, you will see the After-Effect of it.. The Consequence.

Every single time I play a condition spec class I LITERALLY help the other team by letting people convert them into buffs, or to be used against me. The average length of conditions on someone with a brain ~3 seconds.
Conditions are garbage in PvP and PvE
u are right. to a point. and that points is (2 skills usually) bc after i make tyou waste those 2 skills on dropping conditions then the real condis come out to play.
p/d is only a troll build if u suck
if ur good its VERY deadly. and does the same dmg to all classes regardless of defense.
A pistol on the offhand is superior to a dagger in every way possible. If you need to AoE just use a Shortbow.

i like this for unload and HS …especially more so in PVE….. the only really useful one is the stun and the stealth….but even so …only the stun reall stacks up with stregthn of other classes F mechanics
i feel d/p is best for this. safer…faster….no downtime as usual….

As far as I know, the type of skill chosen for this trait is random. I’m also almost 100% certain that improvisation can choose a skill type that you don’t currently have equipped.
If you take Signet of Malice / any Trick / any Trap / any Deception / Basilisk Venom, you can guarantee one of those skills will be refreshed. Otherwise, there’s a chance that none of your skills will be refreshed.

Ok so after some testing I can confirm that this is how it works. I put signet of malice, a signet, trap, deception, and venom in my utilities and used steal while my skills were on cooldown 5 times. 4 times out of 5 it recharged at least one skill. But on the last try it didn’t recharge any because I didn’t have a trick. So overall you’re kinda’ gambling the recharges with this trait. They should make it so it recharges a skill of a certain type that’s within your utility bar.
i agree but you should have atleast 2 types equipped for it to be valid. or max imize it to 2 total skills. so if u have 4 signets it would only recharge 2

I’ve been using d/p set up with 4 gambits, and I’ve found it to be more reliable than s/p pistol whip spam.
Kill time is usually 35 seconds, traits are 25/30/0/0/15, taking mug, dagger training, furious retal, critical haste, executioner and thrill of the crime. Using assassins signet, infiltrators signet and signet of agility but agility can be swapped out for smokescreen if you’re having trouble keeping black powder on him. Signet of malice for heal, basi venom for elite. Candied dragon roll is good for extra life steal food, or otherwise any damage boosting food.
Keep in mind that his kill shot will not be absorbed by smokescreen, he has to be blinded.
Rotation is activate basi venom as you’re going in, Shadow shot, steal for buffs, one auto attack rotation, black powder, two auto attack rotations, black powder, usually at this point he teleports (if not just drop another black powder and auto attack), infiltrators signet and black powder, 2-3 heartseekers.
You will still get hit by about half the shots of his volley as the black powder doesn’t pulse fast enough to continually blind his shots, but if youre getting too low health, consider taking smokescreen as this will absorb the volley shots.
umm 35 secs is kinda long…should be around 20 secs per kill. maybe this will help::

Tips:
1) I like to run 25 stacks of bloodlust as it makes each run about 15 secs instead.
2) can use improvisation if you like to use haste to make it around 12 secs
3) BPS …use it about .5 secs AFTER the last one ended….it will keep up
PS: dont wrry about what other people say. BPS keeps up fine….. ill make a video if you need to prove it. but just trust

There will always be a “sweet spot” that people will find in events such as this.
It takes a ridiculously short amount of time to buy your way to a legendary, it’s called a Credit Card. Until that’s changed there’s no reason to complain about people making gold fast to buy/make them with.
What you are asking is for the game to be nerfed to the point that people only make as much money as you think they should, which is not how things work. People who play the game for gold and shinies are going to find the fastest method to do so, and if you change the game to prevent it they will simply quit, which is bad for the game overall.

25 champs in 8 mins…… if they can do better thats fine. but tell them that. im getting about 140 chests per hour.
The difference is that event chains can’t be chained together. It happens, you wait 2, 3, 4 hours for it to happen again.
With champs there is no down time.

ummm? seriously? :P few notes upon watching this:
1) there is no 1 v 5 ….some 1 v 2s and Kinda arguably 1 v 3 (most running some upscales)
2)This is tier 1. most of them dont roam…most meaning 99.9% and most are HORRIBLE 1 v 1 players. this i know … im t2 and have yet to lose a 1 v 1 or 1v 2 to a tier one player. they are horrendous at small skirmishes and duels. as a matter of fact they arent even aloud to do them…..ive watched 80 -100 man zergs pass me by within 900 range and im just standing there…not EVEN one attacked me. several times this has happened.
3) Entertaining enough video….and i RARELY if ever say this but that quality of opponent was horrendous. No defense guardians? thief that doesnt try backstab once? ele that doesnt RTL or use CCs? warrior who stands there with his back to opponent?
this is again not picking on the thief player in the vid…its just a bad example to show that the thief class is good OR bad. unless you are saying even an average player can pick off nubs in wvw then i would agree with that.
Let’s stop kidding ourselves. Thieves have a very high surviability and high damage build where as it’s not hard to play right if you know what you’re doing. Most classes it’s one or the other.
lol yeah right. you mean they have high sruvivability and dmg IF and only if its the RIGHT situation. and lets not say escaping a 100 man zerg coming after you at a distance is survivability bc anyone can use a WP before they engage….same thign as popping blind powder or Shadow refuge. 1 v 1 yes they have good survivability. 5v5 and higher? nope :P so you should put asterisks (*) next to some kind of statement as such :P. this is hence why thieves are always using trick shot on the outskirts of battles or dodge rolling away bc they cant take dmg. their only survivability is to avoid battle.
i can aslo see assassins signet working well …but only to finish the last 25% hp with hearseeker ….i wouldnt use it early ever…..and in that case its then waiting 30 seconds for it to recharge for next fight which puts you in same boat…but again its not neccessary for haste…. see with my build u can get like 12 secs of haste …SIGIL…..TRAIT…..UTILITY

@Darksidhe could be a test. but at the same time…in the interview the short dude said that it was a “bragging right” or way to show how good you are at the game by having beaten liadri and showing off her mini. i however 100% DISAGREE!
why? well lets see…liadri isnt strong…shes actually one of the weakest if not def the weakest of all the bosses. the environment 1 hit KO hurts yes but liadri has no skill.
The ONLY thing beating liadri proves is that you can time your rolls and use the camera angles well!
Anets intentions were in the right place with liadri but to be honest they came up way short. beating the champions at the balloon towers 1 v 1 posed more of a challenge. those guys were quicker….smarter….reacted better. used combos. the gauntlet was just not what they said it was :/
also the ONLY thing they really need to nerf a lil is black powder shot. thats the only thing that is really abusive. now they dont have to tear the whole skill apart. the duration has to stay for defensive reasons. its the ability to stack the invis thats abused. all anet has to do is make it so we cant gain init while invis over and over. it should perhaps only add 2 init if you go invis while you are NOT already invis.
but i would still like to know why the devs and/or anet is targeting thieves like this. not trying to start a conspiracy but there is def more than meets the eye
p/d is the way to go in my opinion. getting within melee range is a risky idea! the shadows seem to be so close to liadri that you dont have much time to burst her. also weakness and cripple is on you alot bc of her. seems like armor and weakness ignoring dmg is best. there are more than 1 way to do it. i just had an easy time with this. other fights i had to use s/p for the acvhiements.
Did the “kill no other oozes”-achievement for Subject 7 on my thief. P/D condi build, dropped Caltrops at the beginning, used poison + torment venom and moved along the wall, CnD’ing on oozes that spawned behind me.
thats what i did too. also used scorp wire to get him away from his mini army

5% dmg on dual skills
10% chance to gain rage on crit
20% dmg under 50% hp

ok i think you guys are MISSING THE POINT> i did it. i have liadri doll i have all the achievement minus the 8 crystals on liadri. its not about be able to finish it. its why is thief the only class targeted and the only class having its core mechanic taken away. not to mention heals condi removal defense and offensive capabilities. there is a timer so you can\t hide and heal. why cant we use backstab or sneak attack etc. why not blind etc.
So the pirates are blind proof and several fights in the gauntlet also cause revealed the entire match. I am not here to yell and pound my chest…however…. i AM here to ask why out of pure curiosity. Dont get me wrong i have ALL the matches done and only missed the 8 crystal achievement so its not like im whining. but im curious if this is a BUG or a direct NERF towards the thief class.

I have personally seen dozens of non-thief classes fall from the floor dropping out due to the expiration of the time limit (shows you thakittens a pretty short timer).

I was able to beat them on the 2nd try when I switch to a condition d/d bleeder build. wasn’t that bad imo.
They did explain that you would have an easier time if you change or adapt your build for each fight.
fact is …..ther is no skill or warning there is this about to happen …and no logical reasoning as to why they would add it. go nerf clones in these fights…. or go nerf blocks or go nerf pets. why stealth? why no explanation. this is JUST like when they nerfed withdraw(which was in the notes) and then did roll for initiative too! both underwater distance nerfs but only ONE was supposed to be nerfed. so many people dont notice all the small nerfs they do that they dont mention. i for 1 would atleast like to know why. im a gamer that has given them money and would like to know their reasoning …objective and future goal/plans …. perhaps i would not like to participate. perhaps i may agree with their reasoning.

i ran an invis build. i really dont like s/d or s/p for anything other than spvp. just kinda stupid that there is a TIMER (made so you cant hide or take ur sweet kitten time) AND a 60 sec reveal buff. i mean really thats just rediculous. its saying you cant play thief unless ur not going to use stealth. that means no init gain no condi removal no blinds no regen no init regen no backstab no sneak attack no tactical strike etc etc. seems like alot to take away. imagine if they did that to another class. ouch.
Don’t run an invis build for him. It costs 3.5s to respec.
You probably don’t even need to respec. Just put a pistol in your offhand and spam blinding powder and autoattack him.
Stealth is a CORE MECHANIC of the thief class. Removing it is a slap in the face to everyone who rolled a thief.
EDIT: also, every fight that I’ve had that has the permanent revealed debuff is also immune to blind. It’s a double slap in the face.
cant tell if this is a bug or not. its def biased…no reason for this as there is no skill in game that can do this. so its either a bug or more proof anet hates thieves! yeah no other classes were nerfed like this so i wonder the idea behind it. i dont like being PUSHED into played sword pistol or sword dagger. bs.

I don’t see why this is challenging at all. Just kite, keep shooting the owner, and infiltrator to the meat when he throws it.
i guess u got lucky. it dont matter if u infil arrow. if he throws it ON TOP OF CHOMPER….he eats it in 1 second. IA is like 1.25 seconds to cast and another 1.25 seconds to pick up meat. u have to be literally on the same area at the same time or have no chance.
im thinking d/p build for power and just BPS the area….

SR + shadow rejuvenation is like a 12k heal or 14k . its 18k to 20k if u have regen on stealth….i think the first 2 are find then condi removal.
