My 40th level ranger has a Reef Drake.

I’ve helped a 7th level Ranger get a shark.

Those feel pretty rare to me .

Rare because nobody uses them. Reef Drake was released, broken and just a re-skin of another pet already there, LAZY!!, so for shame on the developers. I will admit the shark is pretty cool buuuut I find the jellyfish has better abilities, that is just me now, and normally I just take my amphibious bears with me for tanking.

Need more pets in general, ones that are not re-skins, I don’t want to see this huge build up to “A GREAT NEW PET FOR RANGERS” only to find it is a green jellyfish….. Sea-turtle would be nice, the model is there, just needs skills and implementation. Pets are useful but lacking overall, they are just not exciting :/ I was excited to see the BW Spider making a reappearance at first only to find out it has the worst stats out of all the other pets in the game :/ Did not even match the stats of the Jungle Spider which has the exact same skills.

I got 300k piled up just waiting for an item worth spending on, I wouldnt mind but i got 7 other chars who I am working on so the karma on that character would be FAR higher if I just played him. Make it 3 million seriously!!

I would not say make it able to be bought with gold, the market already has them on sale, karma is a great idea since karma is useless and precursors are rarer than a public apology from a government. Also, 2 handers costing more than 1-handers, I get it but it shouldn’t be the case since you might only use 1 dagger/pistol and then can afford 2 for the price of 1 (greatsword for example) and keep one and just sell the other so that way you have all the cash you need to buy the mats for the rest of the gifts.

Well, this would be a dream come true Anet, a VIABLE use of karma and a clear view of when to get a precursor. The game is a farm-fest, cleverly hidden but it’s there, may as well make the precursor inclusive to it instead of the random forge which “nobody” likes.

Just add the GW1 thingy, where you could kill all mobs in an area and gain some completion if you succeeded. This could be like the FotM daily chest, only giving extra dungeon tokens and maybe even a chance of dropping a precursor or something along those lines.

Take note Mr.Hrouda for I will reveal the future for GW2; a simple progress bar like we have with hearts and other events. Obviously scale it to the dungeon and do not make it have to be a 100% clear. Let’s say AC has 5 bosses and 100 trash in a path, the counter needs 3 bosses and 70 trash killed in order to reward with a chest containing extra silver/tokens and perhaps lodestones based on the dungeon. Just make sure the counter still runs after path completion just in case we don’t finish it before the final boss + tokens.

This rules out speed clears for the most part as they need to kill for that extra bit of loot, hopefully this loot is worthwhile doing all the extra work. It keeps players fighting that much longer in dungeons and skipping less.

Also you would want to make sure that each dungeons counter is tailored to it’s size, as I mentioned AC above, here is a quick idea of Arah; let’s say it has 15 bosses and 500 foes, for our chest it needs 8-10 bosses and 300 foes. Again for Arah and the length of time accounted for the loot should be worth it; hell, let’s say a random chance of a precursor (would still take up to 3-4 hours perhaps so no farming per se)

As for the OP, there is some sound advice here; join a specific guild, search for non-skip players to form a constant dungeon team, take charge of PUGs from the beginning of the run and do not be afraid to kick them for not listening.

My general rule of thumb is if a player has entered the dungeon before the rest of the team is even in the map it is safe to kick them as they will screw your run, the exception to this is a player who offers before hand to open the explorable mode if nobody has it or if it is a dungeon that is soon to be locked or is unlocked on their server but not yours.

Also those players that say “GO? Go… go!” are also that type of player that will run ahead and get you all killed. You can’t blame the rest of the team for following when someone runs ahead, some just want to watch peoples backs. If you see players that wait at the dungeon entrance, or just inside it, for all players to load before rushing off then these are the ones you want to play with. Chances are they either know the dungeon and/or smart enough to wait for everyone and follow orders if need be.

Coddler’s Cove in Timberline Falls, I recall that was reported on the forums about a week or 2 ago.

It has been a constant occurrence since implementation, the January fractal fix which is happening within the next week or two promises to present a possible fix to players so they can reconnect when you crash. As of right now, if you are kicked out of fractals, the team is a 4-man team and you cannot re-enter.

Try 100g worth of L80 exotic longbows, I got 2 named bows back from all that, the rest came back as the same item I was putting in. I highly doubt that exotics give a better chance than rares no matter what anyone says, forge really just screws players beyond belief

I had made a basic one a while back and deleted soon after completion, long since deleted I am afraid. Most pets excel in certain areas more than others so I will mention a few of my faves if it helps; Polar Bear and Arctodus as tanks due to having highest stats combined over all the other pets, Devourer and Jungle Spider for range and poison, Jellyfish very good skills for underwater combat, avoid Black Widow Spider no matter how pretty it looks, it has the same skills as the Jungle Spider but has lower stats, actually has the lowest combined stats of any of the other pets in the game.

Well let’s try not to get into stats but yeah if you want specific stats then yes you will need to farm the dungeon that has what you want. Assuming the stats needed come from Arah well then buying them off the TP is a far better option than both crafting and dungeoning unless of course you wanted the looks but that is a different kettle of fish.

If you just mean any exotics then yeah AC set will most likely do you and chances are that is where you would be farming your gold anyway.

Xenophobia no, over-sensitivity, hell yes. I would not say ignorance, more along the lines of “not having knowledge in RMT nor proxies” which is the reason for my question, because I did not know.

But then who is buying armor at that price? Time over money is always an issue, are you a player who farms and makes cash easily or do you play casually and let the mats come to you through exploration? By the time spent in an AC cash run you would prolly have 1-4g from the 3 runs taking a little over an hour, perhaps more if you are lucky. I make my point towards the thread title, it is far easier to just make the cash elsewhere and buy it if you are just looking for the armor fast rather than crafting it, and you could always save a little cash by buying the materials on TP and crafting it but it will still depend on how the market is when you buy the mats.

I made all my own armor and jewelery for my main, every piece, and I can tell you it was not worth it, ended up costing a pretty penny regardless. I much prefer to make my money from Orr or in dungeons, buy the armor I want on my alts and then I can just bring them anywhere I want instead of having to mess around with materials and the TP which saves me time which makes me more money as that time is used elsewhere. Time over money, which is more important?

Based on the prices of all the mats for both crafting of the inscription needed and the other pieces you would be spending far more than simply buying them. Unless of course you want to take the time to go out of your way and farm all the mats you need, in which case it will be free

Can’t you not just stop selling the game in certain areas, for instance most players believe the botters come from (some country) so why not block people from buying over there? The game is not available in all countries so why not cut off one more.

Honestly if your guild is large and active enough that you need to have private discussions like this they your guild needs to invest in a Teamspeak, Ventrilo or Mumble server and pronto. No real need to go through the hassle of designing some awkward system like this, IMO.

NO, just no. It is not anyone elses business what guilds people are in. If you don’t trust your members, get rid of them. This will only add more drama to certain guilds. “Oh you are helping [XxX], you can’t be in our guild if you are with them” etc. Not a chance this would be received well by players.

Let’s face the Personal Story is pure horse manure and after forcing your way through it all they give you a single rare item? They should be exotic, GW1 end-game items were always max stat and it should follow through. I cannot imagine anybody wanting to try and farm them if they were exotics, who in their right mind could stomach doing the PS more than twice anyway? Even if someone did decide to make character after character to farm an exotic pact weapon, they would be losing out on tons of gold over the course of levelling and doing the story just to get each pact token.

If it is per account and not character based then yeah this would work, after a month as mentioned above the 1st-timers would be running out and more people will have experience. I dunno about triple tokens for “every” path now as that would really have everyone in Arah gear fast and although EliteZ does not offer another suggestion I can understand the frustration if I was to spend 2 months of farming Arah and wasting hours upon hours with terrible PuGs only to see a newbie get their full set in a week, I can understand that.

Perhaps the solution is in the reward, maybe not tokens but a 2nd end chest which contains extra loot or unique untradeable skins which show you are a friendly player; Guardian Pauldrons with a love heart on them anyone?

If you think it is bad now, wait until Orr, now that place needs to fix their timer. If you kill something there it will respawn before you have even had a full out of combat regen, crazy.

Well as you know the 7 day extension was for players messing around in WvW and botters using it to farm ori on all servers so they made people wait 7 days instead, sorted both problems. I fully agree with a queue, I left my server to help someone out and after the 7 days, it was still another 3-4 days before a spot opened up on my server again, that was checking every few hours also, a queue would really help.

It you do dungeons with your friends you do not have to be on the same server you know, just be in the same party; you cannot WvW or do general PvE with them though I am afraid but at least you can dungeon together while waiting. This can be helpful for when you all want to do CoF and it is locked on their server because it might be open on your server and you can start the dungeon for all

I feel your pain, I have killed the 3 vets inside and have been waiting 4 hours in SoD and still nothing, I went off and did temple of balth, mapped the area and still nothing!!

Next time just use a waypoint, if you could recreate the bug, get a screenshot and then send it off to support in game or post it here it would be more helpful, who knows how many traps are in that area.

I brought this up on the forums months ago and never got an answer, I presume it is just there for decoration, to show that pirates like to hide booty. Pretty silly, they may as well make it a real chest.

Hey folks, I can’t seem to find the thread, but there was one that asked about necro reanimator trait, and lupicus using his grub skill on them. This behavior effected Necro minions, Mesmer clones, Ranger pets, and even the follower NPC.
I’ve now modified the skill so that it will only target players from now on as a priority before looking at minions/pets/turrets/NPCs.

I’d like to ask that if anyone finds a monster/boss whose mechanics unfairly target pets and minions, to please post about it here in this thread, and I will try to look into them to see what can be done.

I have to say Rob that you are the single most useful dev poster on these forums, every time you post it is with great news or if not, we can feel like you are really doing your best to fix things. Rarely have I seen one of the copy-paste responses from you if at all. You really do go above and beyond for players such as bringing up a thread like this so THANK YOU from everyone, oh and that little edit is so useful that it stops another 6 pages of the same question or whinging that it is not working so kudos for the foresight.

Myself, and I am sure many other players, are begging and crying out for bug fixes to happen. There is far too many reported that have still gone unfixed for months. Please kick your bug fixing department in the kitten and get them to sort themselves out, roll more bug fixes before you guys add new content. There is plenty in the game to keep people busy, there is not however a perfect world just yet.

I agree with your point Michael, I just find it absurd that they are so strict about it. I have never heard of a game with so many banned players over something so trivial. Yes bad language is bad language but there needs to be a little bit of common sense about it too, sometimes people lose their cool, sometimes they are goaded into it, other times they are not directing at anyone but get reported anyway. I find it silly that even mentioning a bad word is a 72 hour ban, it is far, far, far too long of a ban for language, especially considering what some people are sensitive to and others are not.

I recently started to play LoL again and was pleased at how much there is in that game, for instance there is at least 10 different items to report a player for and yet GW2 still only has basic reports like scamming, spamming, etc. There is no report option for players that troll, that includes goading other players into arguments, nor is there an option for reporting players for leaving parties to wreck dungeon runs. Trolling should come with a 72 hour ban, not bad language. I would find that many players would be glad if it was reduced to a simple 2 hour ban, that will teach them to cool off and they would be nicer in the future. I am sure Anet is taking info on the repeat offenders anyway so why not just reduce it for the sake of keeping a solid player base; I don’t curse often and especially not at players and I do use my ignore option, but I can still feel the sting of a 72 our ban for all those other players out there.

Do you not think, even a little, that players could learn their lesson from a shorter punishment?

I have started an email thread on this issue. We had a similar situation of “sound harassment” in Guild Wars, and if this proves to be an issue, the devs will want to know about it. So thanks for the reports and we’re sorry about any issue you experienced with players who are not showing the proper “spirit of the season!”

Thank you for the response Gaile, I am a little surprised that this has not been brought to the devs attention already. To be honest if I do end up with a suspension for wrongful reporting by these players I probably won’t submit a ticket, 72 hours and I doubt the ticket will have been seen, chances are it would be faster to just wait it out. If logs are checked correctly then I won’t be suspended so I have nothing to really worry about.

Nope, the chainsaw is loud, it should have been fixes if I remember. I don’t report people because they have a bell, if they are sitting there, playing badly, but playing more than one note then they are just playing with it. If someone runs by you with a chainsaw and you hear the noise then neither of those examples is harassment. If the choir bell is rung constantly or the chainsaw is mowed over and over while following players around to annoy them, then yes they are abusing the item to troll players. Not a double standard, you just need to know the difference between what is accepted and what is not.

@Michael – Hopefully they change their policy because it is far from perfect Michael and it is wrong in many aspects. It is far too harsh on new players or first time offenders, why should they get 72 hour bans when they really don’t know any better. Warning should be issued, not insta-bans. I have not ever been banned from a game in all my years of playing and I don’t intend to be, I follow rules and don’t step out of line. That is to say I have not lost my temper sometimes or perhaps I done something wrong considered by the game but something I had not known due to being a newbie at the time. I have also dealt with several of these rules before, basic rules like don’t be a jerk but never before have I seen a game so strict and it certainly does not need to be. Also, yes it is a game, we all have lives, agree with you there lol.

@Morian – I was saying the reason Gaile mentioned, whether it was her or the reason from Anet does not matter, you have taken out of context again. If I hear cinema or restaurant point again I think I will scream… There is rules yes, a normal member of society of knows how to follow rules that have a purpose or rules that are understandable for having them. “Don’t dance on an escalator” hmmm, I can see why, that makes sense. “Don’t wave your arms while talking to staff” does not make sense and people will do this because they don’t understand the consequence. A normal kind of rule followed by an insane rule.

Shoes in a restaurant… yes, you know better because that is how you were raised. Talking loudly in a restaurant, sometimes a lot of people break this rule, not on purpose but yet they will get a “warning” from the staff that they are disturbing the other people. Dancing on the tables, yes get them out straight away as everyone knows you don’t do that. Talking too loudly or crass is a part of adult life, sometimes you deal with it but you start with “Excuse me, would you mind keeping it down?” a warning will tell you if it is a mistake or are they trolling per se and tell you to bugger off. I am sure you would never go to the same establishment again if they kicked you out mid-meal because you laughed too hard and someone complained. It is far more sensible and respectful to ask someone to keep it down than to kick them out. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, a mistake until proven as troll.

Well let us put it this way; In work you are given a contract that says you get more work hours and more money, chances are you jump at that but you read the contract and find out hidden in there is a clause where they may fire you any day they want and you were about to sign it. Chances are you won’t. If you have read the ToC/CoC of every game you have played well then you would be a liar, nobody reads more than one of them, if even that.
To add their warning inside an item nobody reads, and they know this, is just slimy. I would expect it from lawyers and bosses but not from a game. They can’t justify it by saying, “well you signed it” it is very slimy indeed.

Hopefully they have discovered that if players don’t see the griefers getting rightfully punished, along with letting certain parts of the game go unfinished or unfixed as months of unanswered threads pile up they will learn that a little time wasted on warning players is far more efficient than letting their fan base slip away. A warning is good enough to remind certain players that there is rules and to help with first offences. That is just my opinion.

More than 5 minutes later and this player, “I Nuka Cola I”, is still bashing the high octaves, from the looks of it he was following the Charr in the picture, Groknar, all over the TP and LA and spamming it on this player. You can see in the chat log that several other players are asking this person to stop, this should be what gets somebody a 72 hour ban, not a poor name choice IMO. This is one of the players from my OP also.

Oh yes I don’t actually believe I will get banned for whispering a player to “Knock it off!” but I don’t want to go through the whole support ticket effort because they didn’t look at the report correctly. This thread is more about asking the devs what their plan is to combat these annoying people that have nothing better to do than ruin the game for others.

@Loli – the point here is that players should not have to turn their sound down because it is not a game sound that is bugging out or just really bad music, it is players abusing an in game item to annoy players. I like the music of GW, why would I want to turn it down when Anet should be doing something about these players.

Any kind of a response from a dev on what will be done about these players in the future would be appreciated.

So here I am sitting in LA sorting out my bank and a player takes out one of those choir bells and starts mashing the highest sounding note possible over and over again, without stopping. After several minutes, I whisper this player to stop but I get no response, a few moments later, another one of these players shows up and starts mashing his bell. There is now 2 obnoxious players creating this ear-piercing sounds. I also whisper the second players to stop, they continue so I report both for “Spamming” and turn my speakers down (which I should not have to do). Another player asks them publicly to top ringing the bells at which point they start trolling the player, I say to the player to just report them for spamming and turn his sound down so these 2 bell ringers then mention they have reported us for abuse and make all kinds of unfunny remarks to banning, germans and reporting players., telling us to go find a different bank to use. Completely out of line, so I then report them for “Verbal Abuse” also as they were insulting both myself another player.

So, my question; Will the chat log be looked at correctly or will I be looking forward to a ban when I log back in? (no need to answer the second part)

When will something be done about bell spammers, a mute option perhaps?

a.) Why they don’t give warnings
b.) Why the profanity filter is not an excuse to use foul and inappropriate language (and not all abuse involve cursing/swearing, so it won’t necessarily be caught by the profanity filter)

Also, taking apart several posts and replying to each piece just takes things out of context and you didn’t actually offer any sort of discussion, as far as I can make out all you are really saying is stfu to players with an opinion. If they want to complain, let them, if they want to raise a question, let them, if they want to QQ then let them, but don’t come here telling people how wrong they are just because they don’t have 110% trust in Anet any more because I certainly don’t blame them.

I used it in Fotm 1-3 when I was just farming for a vial, and every time I’d say,
“So um, I’m framing for a vial, so don’t mind me if I pull too much aggro and get downed”
Which never happened to me. And the other members (ragtag team from LA) wouldn’t mind. I once even told one group that I was making pizza and I was gonna be afk for the second level. They still didn’t care.
I fell off the map two times with the hammer, and they still didn’t care, albeit, they didn’t let me carry the hammer anymore :c

It really just depends on your group. I find that if you start talking to your party first, they’ll open up and chit chat back and won’t really care for 1 or 2 slip ups.

This is the correct way to play the game if you do tend to not play like elitist scum

Total unfair dick move on your part mate, MF rare does not make someone a bad player. Could he play? Was he surviving? Contributing to the group? This game is not gear based no matter how technical you may get about it; if you can play then you can play and it does not matter what you wear.

Very rarely do I see a kick unless for dc or prolonged afk. This game is much better than wow for not having pointless kicks imo. Only one gw2 kick stands out where half way thru the dungeon the party creator decided he wanted a guardian and some poor player gets randomly kicked as a result. But he was the one who created the party so its his show imo. Just saying imo its not a huge problem.

If a party leader decides half way for NO reason that he wants a guardian and kicks a player then he is a kitten and if the party is not working with it’s current set up then it is the leaders fault for not planning better for the dungeon he was setting up. I have run dungeons with 3 necros, a ranger, a warrior and mopped the dungeon easily. If players can play then it does not matter what profession they are and if I was to kick one of the necros half way through because I wanted a guardian then I would be a dick too.

Yes; Zhai-two-two-two-tan was abysmal, a severe disappointment compared to PS of level 1-30, 30-50 aint bad the first time you do it, after that its all the same.

Several other threads about this already, chest has anti-botter protection on it which is causing it to give out loot sporadically; some players don’t get loot, others get warped to LA, some get their loot. They are still looking at it.

I think the general consensus for players Gaile, or whichever mod may be viewing this currently;

1. not every player knows your CoC back to front as you do.
2. people make mistakes when the first create accounts such as creating incorrect names – perhaps a word filter at character select would help them so they don’t have to spend 72 hours banned after their first hour of gameplay.
3. what is rude in one country is not rude in others (how can we know this) i.e. fanny is an american term for your gluticus maximus but over here in ireland it means a womans genitalia.
4. why is there no warnings? why jump straight to bans? surely you can follow how many infractions an account has, why is there not some lee-way here for first time offenders or wrongly reported people.
5. which brings me to the point of – it feels as if bans/chat logs are not looked over correctly, from reading above and in other threads it looks like they are just skimmed over or automated so a program picks up a curse word in your database and finds the user who typed and just auto bans them. where is the human touch gone?
6. it really does seem as if mods are trigger happy when it comes to game/forum moderations.
7. is the game turning into a point where no player wants to disagree with a player in map chat in case they get reported by someone either having a bad day or just too click happy and end up with a 72 hour ban for getting misconstrued?

You may have not bought the recipe from the master jeweller (double check all recipes) or perhaps you have not discovered it yet? If it is available on another character then this is the most likely reason.

Yup, you can easily switch back to your old profession and all recipes discovered will be there, you can jut have 2 active at a time.

Your items have to be in your inventory, you will just need to unequip it first, then transmute it and equip the new one. Also, basic only works on items of level 1-79, you will need fine transmutation stones for items that are 80, even if one of them are.

Why not practice with some basic stones on loot? There is no shortage of basic stones lol.

I don’t see it as a bug, it makes sense that if your pet is dead or not, if it gets killed while trying to res you then it is logical that it would stop ressing you. If the pet was invincible during this time the skill would be considered OP, as the poster above said underwater he took on 3 while downed so imagine if that pet was invincible too?

As I said earlier, the pet is half way across the battlefield, good chance he will die on his way over so calling your pet back or waiting till he dies makes no difference. Also LW resses your pet if he is dead so it makes no difference whether or not you have called him back so long as he is alive while ressing you.

As far as I can see, this skill is not bugged and players are just not focusing on when their pet dies.
