Loot “may” have been disabled due to botters exploiting the JP chest but fingers crossed for an official response.
A little bit of research will show that the events cannot start while the risen champion is alive. Check the wiki for all the info you need, kill the boss and the event begins shortly after wards, roughly 5-20 mins.
I suppose it comes down to what you think looks best but racial abilities should play a small part in your choice, a sylvari binding roots can turn a battle. Check out the wiki for racial traits, check out http://www.gw2armor.com/ to have a look at races/armor choices and try out each race for an hour before deciding on your choice. The beauty of this game is that no race is better than any other, it’s all down to your own personal choice.
I have never had a problem with using LW, I have however used the skill only to have whatever downed me to down my pet again which stops my pet healing my obviously This might be the case for some of you, it takes time for the pet to cross the battlefield back to you and if it dies along the way you just have to wait on the recharge.
The compensation was for players that opened Black Lion chests and received 2 items instead of the usual 3 recently.
Since this is answered, a mod should probably close it.
If you were still in game you could turn the option in the chat box to show loot drops and take a screenshot, it will show where the loot dropped, from what enemy and your fractal level would be visible in the corner. Try to recreate this effect and follow my advice
First to enter and start a dungeon makes you the “Leader” per se, your character will the be the one in any cutscenes that may play. It is ok to leave a dungeon after getting your chest, that is fine for all dungeons but if a leader leaves the party, he disbands the group and it closes the dungeon for all.
I swear the first time the group ran Tixx that day we nearly failed it. We were so <refer to Sera.6539 picture above> that the 1 player who was guarding the lone ventari toy screamed HELP ME! into party chat was the only way way we snapped out of it. Honestly 4 players distracted instantly due to their “Bishie-ness”
All I can say is WELL DONE ANET!! and whoever designed that toy DESERVES a bonus. I even overheard a guildie say “Nothing else matters in this game now that I have this griffon”
Edit: To add a +1 to creation of a RL plushie. As long as it is actual size as it is to our characters, I would pay at least 50 bucks, any smaller then I suppose 30 but the bigger the better. I would love a GW plushie because that charr one currently is fugly!

I think a timer would be perfect, a guild group ran a dungeon earlier with a pug and the moment the pug looted the first chest he left the party and the guildies were left sitting outside the dungeon without a chest and their time wasted.
Maybe an infraction system for leavers, i.e. Dishonor points in GW1.
AC, CoF, Arah – the weapons from these dungeons you get from the vendors in LA all come with MAJOR runes instead of Superiors
Sigils.
Just making that clear so they don’t go check the runes instead (which come on the armour, not weapons).
Yes thank you
I’ll investigate into this. I didn’t build those myself so I can’t say for certain.
Edit: investigating inconsistencies between all dungeon reward armor/weapons
Thanks for a snappy response Robert
I wonder just how many angry players it takes for them to realise that this was a completely rubbish fix, one that was NOT needed and NOT wanted. This is not about players complaining that they want more loot, this does not have certain players have an affect over players; this affects every player individually. Time wasted just to look at armors, players now have to check the wiki and other websites to view armor. I won’t waste my time switching between chars or logging from a dungeon or stopping my crafting just to go preview an armor that was linked in chat.
It has been said enough times; with so many MAJOR bugs in several other areas…. “this” is what you “fix”? Do employees need to reach a bug fix quota or something? Fixing things that are not broken just to show they are doing work?
This game is not just for you anymore, you can’t make a change and just decide that “they will have to like it” now you have to think before you act, “Will this improve the game? Will this make players happy?” At the end of the day, if you push away your player base with nonsensical, meaningless bug fixes while ignoring actual bug issues you won’t have a player base to cater to. I doubt anyone will quit over this but this was a bad choice and should be reverted.
I understand not being able to preview cultural armor, completely understandable considering dimensions, etc. but there was no “good reason” to make this change, not at all.
/signed to return armor preview
Never have I heard a player complain about being able to preview armor, it is a total step backwards. They really need to start beta testing future updates on actual players if they want to get real feedback, that could help them from getting so many kitteny posts on the forums. Totally disagree with this hidden update.
Yeah….. I opened a fair few chests also, I didn’t really think nothing of it at the time, it was quite late when I was opening them, I don’t have screenshots or even remember what I got from these chests and certainly would not be able to remember all of them. Hopefully Anet has some internal way of tracking what players received… Eek
Semantics my friend, just semantics.
Is it just me that has noticed this? Has this issue been brought up before? Are the devs aware of it?
AC, CoF, Arah – the weapons from these dungeons you get from the vendors in LA all come with MAJOR runes instead of Superiors, the other 5 dungeons all come with the Sup. runes so why not these?
As it is, achievements do nothing so why in melandru’s name would you want them removed? They affect other players gameplay in no way whatsoever except to keep individuals happy, goal-driven or just with something to do.
I am not 100% in support of a leaderboard but I would love to see more achievements added. It is nice to go do a jumping puzzle or level out crafting just to see those large orange bars go up, sometimes I might log on and see nothing but LA spamming Frac452356 LFG and I really don’t want to waste time on that, I might not have the time for that but at least the achievements give me a little nudge of something to get up and do something. Then while I am out there I get distracted by events, etc.
Get a level 80 alt with ori picks, leave him there to farm it once a day, is that an exploit then? I don’t think it matters that it is level 2 people farming it, the fact it is stationary means it is easy to get to regardless of bosses in the way. You are welcome to do a full ori run every day and add this to your run. If players want to recreate characters over and over to farm a single ori node then let them. Not exactly game breaking, just a node so easy that everyone can farm it.
If it was built for the 14th, why was it released yesterday?
I will answer by quoting myself since you did not read my post before responding to it..
It is not rocket science to deduce that the page is built for the 14th so they don’t have to waste time on updating when they need to be focusing on the actual game on the 14th.
As much as I appreciate you actively working on things, why apologize to the very few that don’t get the obvious in a typo?
The big banner at the top of the page reads:
Wintersday
The Wondrous Workshop of Toymaker Tixx
December 14 – January 3To not understand that all the content there contained within the details is meant for the 14th and no sooner is to mean that they have some educational flaws. It makes this thread a waste of space on these forum, a waste of your time to come in here and answer it (A.Net guy), and just an all around sense that the community is that dense to not understand things.
On a personal note, thank your for taking a shot at my, and the rest of the communities education.
Actually Siphaed is very correct, the fact that a large portion of the player base cannot put 2 and 2 together is the reason for this waste of time over a simple misreading of a webpage. Also, have you ever tried to read map chat in LA? Definitely wasted college degrees there.
For once I just wish I could see a Dev respond viciously, “Of course we mean the 14th you bloody morons!” You see, these kind of threads are the reason this game should not have been made into a PG rating to cater for children, amongst many other things within the game. It is not rocket science to deduce that the page is built for the 14th so they don’t have to waste time on updating when they need to be focusing on the actual game on the 14th…. SIIIIGH!
If they plan on having the hat on sale in the gemstore I could understand but to make it exclusive and not have another way of obtaining the item is unfair. I bought the CE from the first moment I could, now if they started selling the Rytlock statue on it’s own and at a lower price I would be very pissed off too. Just because it is not a physical item does not make it any less of a snub to the players who bought the DD from the start.
Perhaps the right way to offer incentives to new players is to offer store items for free, not make them exclusive, who could argue with that? The items are there to buy for current players and it is not an item of monetary value that makes current players left out.
Another bad business decision on the part of Anet, I fear how populated this game will be in a years time.
Viewed as bad terrain, ouch, no wonder it was difficult to pinpoint. Well done though, I just hope you don’t have to bug every employee to start fixing other broken things
Let me just say a LARGE thank you to Anet, they really came through for the player base with the reward, I was really worried how they were going to handle this but the came through for us so THANK YOU!!
I just hope more players are courteous enough to show their appreciation too.
I was on the verge of turning my back on you guys after it all, I even stopped playing for a few days after the crash. After hugely supporting since GW1 original launch it would have been a shame to say goodbye to the thousands of hours I had spent on both games over the past 7-8 years. I am very glad you listened to players and did your best, I could only imagine that you could have lost a huge portion of your player base and that could have been the end of the game.
You saved a lot of players and not because of what you gave out but because you did reward them and did not leave them on the short end of the stick. Again, not the size of the reward that mattered, just that you cared enough to take care of your players and end a lot of frustration. In the future please remember to correctly plan out events and hopefully we will never see this happen again
Pat yourselves on the back, you did good.
I noticed the item you are talking about in the TP, the problem is that while you may not be able to buy the item, whether it has been removed or is an account bound item you can still put up a to-buy price for an item if you have the cash and find it in the TP. Problem is they shouldn’t show as they cannot be bought, you have saw the Lemon for 100g right? Unfortunately there is better stuff to working on right now than filtering the trading post, sure it is a little bit of a pain but at least the TP is working. I think we have the lesser of two evils here
You know the number of times I’ve been left with no reward from a dungeon glitch is so high, I think it’s really unfair to reimburse people for this event when others of us should have many hundreds more dungeon tokens and chest rewards that we’ve lost out on due to ArenaNet bugs.
Not addressing dungeon rewards bugs but bugs in general grind my gear, not the bugs sorry, the lack of fixes for the bugs 3 months after launch. I have to ask WHY they insist on adding new content when their original is still bugged in many places from events to item icons, personal story to difficulty, etc.
Wintersday can go to hell as far as I am concerned, I would rather they fix the current content before attempting to add more content, feels like they just want to please the players who play the game 24/7 and are whining because they have nothing left to do.
The “Karka Crash” should have been priority and it is now 3 weeks later and more players are just turning their backs on this game every time they fob us off with another “working on it” excuse.
This has not been forgotten. The solution is coming down the pipeline and should be live this week.
Thanks for being patient.
Thank for the quick response, “this” is where you can hold on to players; not by promising things but by giving us an answer and not leaving topics unanswered for weeks and/or just locking them instead of answering. Simple things like this or ‘This has been answered already at {http/gw2/topic284753456}’
This lets players know you are hearing them, that is really what we want most. An answer, good or bad, just as long as we know you are listening.
It sounds crazy but I love being a stationary ranger; who expects that. I like to call my build “Poison Ivy” because if you don’t keep clear then expect to get hurt. If you see someone sitting there you think easy kill, when someone runs at me without thinking, it will be me thinking easy kill If you can play your build, you can play your build.
In WvW I took on 2 thief’s with my ranger and destroyed them, I was shocked. In PvP, a single thief ran at me and destroyed me in seconds. I would say it is down to the players, not the class. As they say, it aint the size of the boat, it’s how you sail it.
And I want a Porsche!! Look mate, just because you demand it does not mean you will get it. How about you provide a fitting argument as to why it should be included in the game, how it would improve the game and other possible future uses it would have which would set it aside from other games.
Plenty of game out there have fishing already; Runescape, Animal Crossing, try those out first.
Why? What would this accomplish? It is far better to make a small monetary payment and change for as often as you like to spend gems. This sounds like something you should have brought up during GW1 not days after the packs were finally implemented.
Bumping this thread, Crystal Desert server, no sign of behemoth or event chain ever moving in weeks upon weeks. Could we get someone working on current bugged content before releasing new bugged content.
Bumping this thread, can we please get an official response from Anet? A simple “We are still working on it” would suffice. There are hundreds of well-deserving players left empty handed after that dull event; we understand you had the weekend for Thanksgiving and I do hope you all enjoyed it, players are still left wondering though.
“When did you start playing less?”
As soon as the Lost Shores event ended. I have taken a week away from the game.
“Why / What caused the decline in time spent?”
The large crash which prevent thousands of players from not receiving their chest after a 3 hour long event. I was extremely disappointed about how rushed the whole event was and then this large lag people had to endure to finally get booted out of the game moments before they get their well deserved chest. That infuriated me so much that I decided to not play for a week, that way when I returned I would be more relaxed and would have cooled down and hopefully missed the game a little. I am checking the forums daily to see how they will handle the “Karka Crash” as I do not want to be left out on being compensated because I missed an opportunity by not logging on here as I don’t use twitter.
Other reasons that make me play less, every time they go back on their word about something such fractals (which I actually love) making players turn away players. Once you hit a specific level to play any of the other dungeons you were fine and it worked as levels did not matter in the end but with fractals only certain people can join together. You cannot come with us until you are level 28F, too bad. Players end up spending too much searching for groups now than being in them. While this kind of thing does get on my nerves a little, it annoys me more because we were promised it would not be one of those games. As for gear progression, personally I don’t mind the ascended stuff as it is not much different in stats and the main reason people are getting it is for the agony resistance. As long as no other gear progression is implemented I will be happy.
Personal story and voice actor capabilities, why was this not done better? You had the money, the people and all the capabilities. My hope for the future that this is looked on as a disgrace and a something you learn from. I won’t go into detail again on this subject, it has been worn out, I think if the next content with voice acting ends up as drab and pathetic as the current one I don’t actually know if I will be willing to sit through it. This also goes against the promise of an epic story, please hire better writers or a voice director that does his job and not let this travesty occur again. (If you like amazing story-telling that will make you laugh and keep you hooked I suggest playing ‘The Bard’s Tale’ as that was fantastic)
The main thing that will drive me away from the game for good is watching Anet ignore players, pumping out content patch after content patch but never looking at the current game, never perfecting it; and it needs to be perfected. Tweaks need to be done, bug fixes, etc. The Anet for GW1 was quality first and then money, I would love that team back. Please fix what you have before pumping out another shoddy piece for us to leave to the side and just scowl at it every time we get home from work and manage to make eye contact with it.
This pretty much sums up my complaints about the voice acting in the game.
THIS has made my day
In relation to the thread; the VA in the personal story actually hurts to listen to sometimes. I am the type of player who plays those long Japanese RPGs like the FF franchise so I tend to lick up all that extended story and deep voice acting. Did I mention the replay value on those and I don’t mean the gameplay, I mean I could sit through the 150 hours of dialogue or whatever it might be again and again and again because it is good! It sounds great, it is done well, it is believable.
While the background conversations are done better, not by far nor by marginally but yes better, they are in the background, I hear them only so often and players tend to miss an incredible amount of this. Maybe the lack of the pause between each line helps here or maybe the voice actors were not bored reading the lines of the background stuff, I don’t know. What I do know is that the personal story is skipped every time round, it actually makes me sad to play the game when I know I have to do the personal story. I would be much happier if they either re-did the whole thing or removed the content of it because it is really “that” bad.
This game has some of the best voice acting one can hope for, in a game with such a massive amount of it. It’s seriously amazing, compared to most games out there.
It’s not perfect, sure, but it’s still astoundingly good compared to many other games. I feel lucky.
Equally the dialogue itself is written better than most games. Again, it’s not perfect, but there’s tons and tons of it, and most of it is far more interesting than the swill you’ll see in other games.
This thread is for discussing Guild Wars 2 and the voice acting in it.
Just to give a tip to everyone aiming for this achievement; it will take 500k xp in one area which is the equivalent of 2 levels roughly, stock up on materials by the boat load and just craft to your hearts content in one sitting. The discoveries alone should net you this achievement easy as pie.
Legendary items are not supposed to be easy. They’re legendary.
Tell that to the players who buddied for the weekend to kill karka and asked their friend what is a dawn?
Internal testing failed exceedingly well. Yes I like to be excited about new content but I also like to be excited about working content.
They are trying something never been done before with huge world events, great, I look forward to and support them on this but they need to test this on a large scale from now on, it failed horribly. I am sure the event would have been more fun if players could see what was going on but an instanced version would be going against what they are trying to achieve so it is up to them to start testing content “Correctly” before releasing it.
People are complaining about the fact they never even got to loot the chest, some didn’t even get to see the event. That is where the complaints are coming from. Paying customers are not asking for a free precursor, they are just asking for a chance at a working event in their timezone and a chance to open the chest, that is completely and utterly fair. Why should they not get the same chance?
Personally speaking I wouldn’t not care if I got a chest full of blues but after funding the game several ways, clearing my schedule for the event and sitting through a 3 hour lag-fest, I, among many more deserve to see that chest and have the same chance as the rest of the player base.
As for “go back to wow” I can safely assume that you got your precursor and do not care about the rest of the player base, that you play wow and have your L90 shaman running about on your crocodile mount, and you are not the type of person to read before commenting or posting threads. A lot of players have not played WoW and perhaps 1% are complaining for the reason you state.
This made me laugh, just the way the picture is done in paint, like a child with a crayon, hahaha. Kudos my friend.
Add one more player to your list of unsatisfied customers.
3 hours at the event and bring the ancient karka down to his grave, 30-60 seconds away from death and the chest that makes it all ok…. boom! Mass server D/C
Listening to my guildies on Teamspeak as they pull precursors out of the chest and I can only stare at my blank screen was devastating. I Have only been able to successfully log in to the servers now, 1 hour later.
After supporting GW1 and Anet for almost 8 years I am extremely wary of how this will turn out, depending on the response I may just hang up my support for you guys. There will be no more blind faith from this day. You need to show your customers that you care about them.
Not a new pet, just re-skinned drake. Disappointing.
American made game, American voice acting. This was mentioned before, that is the way it is pronounced and they won’t be changing it. At least that was the gist I got from reading the other topic on this point.
If we could choose which ones to show individually this problem would vanish.
You can, the bottom left corner has an icon in the world map, click it and turn off everything else.
Why was the original post deleted? Could it not be moved to “Help” section instead?
But moderators should have names, so that if there have been five reports on the same moderator, there should be an investigation into what that moderator has done. there has to be a way of reporting moderators who took it too far without the potential of abuse, or reducing that potential to a minimum.
Personally I don’t think we even need a name so long as we can actually respond or file a complaint. I sent off a mail detailing why I was upset with the deleted post, not to appeal it per se, but with how they handled it. There was a reply button on the moderators forum mail but when I hit reply I got a not functioning message, I mentioned that in the email also.
Not to go off topic but there has been religions that have went with this sort of behaviour; See it, delete it, pretend it was never there. This is only damaging for Anet, it is also a kick in the teethto the player base.
I said before I expect this topic to get closed, and it won’t be for anyone going off on a tangent or from someone blatantly being offensive but because this is a topic that they don’t want players discussing topics like this. We need a voice and it is getting quashed by these click-happy moderators.
Random skill taken to fuse when your elite;
1. it takes your healing skill when you don’t need to heal and then when you do need it it is on a 200 second cooldown.
2. same as above really but with any skill, they all end up on a 200 second cooldown when you need them.
Player selected fusion;
1. exploits
2. cooldown time when you need skills
Elites are not supposed to be the “1-hit wonders” they are good enough when used correctly.
Now I would like to just respond with the word “Indeed” as that would sum up how I feel on the matter to but due to how they deal with posts I would get infracted for it which is ridiculous, just because I did not drive the conversation forward with a reply. Personally I would rather a reply that is short, it doesn’t have to drive it forward but it would be nice to see replies as opposed to getting lost in the amount of other threads out there.
A change of character select screen might be what you you are searching for, personally I am not mad on the current one either but they will change it in time, they did it several times for GW1, I have provided an image of something that might be up your alley.
Well the hat you could get for sitting in a town and doing a few emotes, the hat is also cosmetic and offers no bonuses. The 2 memoires on the other hand take a little bit of effort and time, you have to go places, fight creatures and use a device to find the pages. I did it on seven characters to have seven memoires so that each of them had extra stats and didn’t have to shell out 5g for a backpack.
There is no reason to make it account bound. You had more than enough time to get it on other characters (not counting if you were affected by the hurricane of course) and even if you missed it you can buy the backpacks with better stats and just transmute the item to bring the skin over.
