Timer is fine proven to be enough…[snip]
I think 2mins is still too much, it should be 1 min during the event. I you are not doing anything for 1 min you get booted.
Even 1 minute is too long for afk on turrets, 20-30 seconds should be enough for an auto-kick, nobody using a turret should be not using a skill on turrets for longer than 10 seconds, I think that is the longest skill recharge and even then there is other skills to use and a turret user should always be firing, no exception.
Ever tried Tequatl for 8 hours straight only to feel like a worthless piece of dung afterwards? Well I don’t think I want to play a game that can get my spirits that low.
I certainly have done it for 8 hours straight myself and have watched him leave with only 4% hp and 1% hp, it lowers your spirit very much BUT the content is doable and it takes coordination, the problem is that we cannot control people who afk or people who refuse to waypoint upon death or people who just play badly and don’t help. After those 8 hours I went to bed, woke up and heard they beat him while I slept, that is just as bad.
3. Absolutely not, the stacks are perfectly reasonable providing you have coordinated people on turrets, I have yet to let a bone wall happen with our group.
max stacks removable in 10 seconds – 6, but Tequatl gains 8 every 10 seconds. I don’t think you can avoid a bone wall.[/quote]
You can definitely avoid a bone wall, I have seen fights where the bone wall never happens, it is tough but if people on their turrets have shore defense working correctly and they know what they are doing on turrets then it will be fine.
If you are frequently tired enough that you fell asleep at the keyboard or went afk and fell asleep in a different room then you should have logged out yourself since you would know it would happen.
I personally hate the afk timer in the game, especially when I tab out to read the wiki or something. If I need to go make dinner or something then I like to sit in LA and read the map or guild chat when I get back but I always get booted after 10-15 minutes, whatever the timer is but it is a pain.
I would like to see an option where you could set an afk timer, that would be perfect for people who are susceptible to falling asleep at their keyboards. I would definitely turn it off or extend it to 1-2 hours so I could come back when ready. What is the point of warping somewhere safe or to LA when I get kicked in a few minutes of not moving. I will log out if I am not going to be playing for over an hour.
I find your lack of UI and backpiece hiding disturbing.
UI is cluttered for screenshots, there is a hide option and dammit, ill use it as for the back piece, the launch pad hides it.
1. I do and I don’t agree with this; while I would like perhaps 5 minutes added to his timer, even that would trivialize the fight. That is enough time for whole unorganised servers to kill him. The challenge is not in the time limit, it is in the organising of people.
2. That poison is a pain in the kitten , it is manageable though. I find the problem is that there is a shine/glow on the water under Teq and it is incredibly difficult to see it when you are looking around at everything else. That and if you get hit by the waves or feared you can be kitten sure you will go flying right into 3-4 connected poisons and will have no control or be knocked down for so incredibly long that you are dead before you can even attempt to use your stun breakers.
3. Absolutely not, the stacks are perfectly reasonable providing you have coordinated people on turrets, I have yet to let a bone wall happen with our group.
4. The health also is fine, if you can organise the people to get as far as the laser then his defense goes down so much that you can almost bring him into his next phase purely from that laser stun. Again, the problem you are finding is organising a group to get that far.
2. Personally that would be annoying if you have dedicated people on turrets and RL comes up behind them, if they look away for 10 secs they lose the turret, some random hops on it and that could be the difference between success and defeat.
I would love to see a use for Commanders other than I have 100g to buy a dorito, that means everyone has to listen to me. It would be nice to see if the tag did something worthwhile such as gaining priority on turrets in game. Will help when people go afk or are just terrible and people can coordinate better from that hopefully.
If your character does the /no emote when trying to interact it means that you already have interacted with that tooth/scale/shard previously.
Move on to a new one and it should be OK.
This is indeed correct. I found that if your character is saying no then you have already received credit for that one. The reason people are getting confused is that the length of the emote for collecting the items is a 1/3 of the speed it takes a character to say no and if you interact too quickly it skips the interaction altogether but you will get credit for it.
My advice is for anyone doing the achievements to just track them in your panel and watch as it updates so you know you received credit.
Not a bug I don’t think, whenever I go to interact with these items for the achievement my character uses the /no emote and refuses to interact with it, what’s up with that?
Bump in the night.
Been having something similar, I am repping my guild as usual but people are asking me if I want to join a guild since I am guildless o_O I look at guild tab and I am repping my guild, I rep another fine but cannot go back to repping my other guild.
This used to happen a lot back in the first 3-4 months, I mean a lot lot so I wouldn’t worry too much, it should fix itself in a few days, that’s usually what would happen anyway.
Bumping this so it doesn’t get lost.
Bumping this so it doesn’t get lost.

Is this exotic shortbow supposed to be both SoU ‘and’ account bound? I got it as a drop and this seems quite odd.
Well hopefully a mod will move it rather than be lazy and just close it.
The bar is not working at all, it isn’t even searching to come up with 0 results.
I tried searching on the home page of the forums and inside 1 or 2 other forums, the search bar does not do anything. I enter my text and press enter, nothing happens.
I sent off a bug report straight away in game as I was hoping to avoid the forums, basically I was playing, completed the daily, the chest appeared on screen for all of a second before I could click it and I didn’t get any of my rewards.
The event occurred on the 8th and I hope you can help. What other details are needed and I will provide.
Having alts is the huge disadvantage, you have to gear up every one you intend to play, when it comes to dungeon armor you have to grind the dungeon for your tokens on more than a single character, you have to do the story dungeons multiple times to unlock the exp mode, the SAB is not account dependant which means each character needs to unlock the items and levels, personal story, map completion, etc.
All of these things you will need to do multiple times if you intend to play more than 1 character and you are penalised for doing by making you repeat the same content over and over no matter what things you do. 40s, don’t make me laugh, you pay that on waypoints in a day and it is fairly easy to just make an alt for crafting and never use them.
I do sometimes feel like GW2 was made for the developers enjoyment, and we, the customers are just along for the ride to supply them with enough money to keep their own enjoyment going, not to provide a enjoyable product for us rather than themselves.
I get this, this is what it feels like 90% of the time and it makes me not want to play anymore, beta bugs are still prevelant too, it is ridiculous.
To the OP, I would imagine because there is achievements linked to the armor vendors they do not want you to buy one set, get achievements, resell, buy next set, etc. but that is only a guess. They would prefer you grind for weeks to afford the next set and then the next set and then…. you see where I am going with this.
You should get what you can now because they have stated the same skins may not be available when SAB is released again. There is always time to get more baubles.
[snip] the idea to make achievements in certain games grant you an overall rewarding bonus, then why not have something similar in an mmo?
Because most MMOs, GW2 is included in that, are all about gear treadmills whether they want to be or not. This game is plagued by elitists in several places and players are already turned away from CoF if you are not in full zerk gear or you must be fractal 30+ to join fractal teams. If you put in a way to buff your stats permanently then that will be the new demand. it does not matter if it is an achievement or optional, it is in the game which means elitists will require it for all future runs. Your idea is a gear treadmill, that is why people are against it.
I’ll take 2 guildies then and they can take a single temp henchman each, zero idiots. It’s a win-win.
I was just reading the henchmen suggestion thread, and thought we could merge the ideas.
How about using skill points to purchase a temporary henchmen?
Because I will hire 4 henchmen and never party with the idiots in the community ever again…. ever.
- Why should a guild get benefits from the achievements of their individual players? That just promotes guilds into grinding achievements.
What is wrong with that? It makes your guild work together to help it’s members and as long as it gives a benefit that does not give it an advantage there should be no problem with it.
You know they will release more guild icons as a gem pack :P
A player can still be at the keyboard running macros. When a bot account is suspended they would of course say they were falsely accused, I have not seen any threads in there stating “I am a bot and you caught me, well done”. Players do not get banned after a single report, they get banned for several reasons with one of them being they were reported by several players. Your suggestion would lead to “he reported me so I’ll report him” and it would just waste even more time. All reports are looked at including chat logs before and after so they can see who is abusing the feature (at least that is what we are told).
I’ll now respond to you misleading thread title with this answer; LOOT!
50 sounds reasonable for a specialist dungeon when you remember a bloodstone shard is 200 and 50 is not hard to get, you just continue to level up. I would make the unlock account bound though rather than character specific. As I said skill points come in fast and even if you did craft all of the weapons in the forge you still have tons left over, especially by the time you farmed all the other mats needed. Both skill points and karma need to have more uses in this game.
Skill point means that you have the SKILL to play the game and it also means that only skilled players dare to obtain exclusive looks through mystic forge.
Giving it another use like dungeon ticket would be stupid because to ones that have done world completion would be harder to get in maybe after first 2 tries like me, I have done world completion and dont have enough SP to get in that sort of dungeon. It would be problematic.
Just to add, SKILL points are used to gain skills initially…. it has nothing to do with your elitism so hush. Skill points are not hard to get, you just have to put in time to your characters, I have no idea why you think world completion affects you levelling for a skill point. If you want to farm them again fast well then yes you will need to do map completion on another character. Stop being so lazy…. and also, there is no “skill” in communing -____-
It would be problematic…. for you…. stop being lazy and play.

I REALLY don’t understand why alllll the new games have achievements and think gamers give a kitten. Build an interesting world for us to explore and tough things to kill. The conquering and looting is achievement enough. I don’t need your hollow points to validate my gaming.
Well then you don’t have to play games to aim for the achievements. The fact is ach. are in games for several reasons, it is a good way to track progress, find what you are missing, some are humourous and for the most part, for a lot of current gamers it is a way of keeping them interested in playing a game even after a new shiny comes out for them. Achievements do not hurt you, why would you bother complaining about something that is pretty much optional, you can avoid most of them and they don’t take anything from your gaming experience but they do add to others.
I would also like to remark on the amazing work you guys keep pulling off [snip] as well as the customer support/awareness you guys provide.
I have to ask, is this troll thread?

. . . and we got derailed talking about Robin Hood, Die Hard, and many other terrible terrible movies.
You think Die Hard is a terrible movie? GET OUT!!!!
I dropped a number, I meant the first sequel. Die Hard 2 was practically just “Die Hard 1, now in an airport”. The third movie was much improved, but I blame that on the villain actually being fun.
This is why you spellcheck, you could hurt a lot of people.
. . . and we got derailed talking about Robin Hood, Die Hard, and many other terrible terrible movies.
You think Die Hard is a terrible movie? GET OUT!!!!
I think there is something we can do to solve the problem here without discouraging people from playing together, but we haven’t figured it out just yet.
How about offering larger WXP based on server position. Let’s say this week Darkhaven is beating Maguuma by X score and Kaineng is trailing at the back by a pretty low score….. by the 4th day there is a good chance that will be how the week ends for that match. My suggestion is to offer a base WXP x1 score for server #1 and server #2 receives WXP x1.5/2 and the trailing server receives WXP x2/2.5 so even if you server is trailing badly you have a VERY good reason to keep fighting. Losing does not have to mean trailing behind anymore. It might not solve the problem of 5 people taking a keep over zerg numbers but hopefully it will provide a bigger presence in WvW overall.
For the most part it is widely accepted in a JP, you do not attack the other player until they attack you, using emotes like wave or sit to let them know you are not there to fight. Usually for EB though I would not bother entering unless your server owns the puzzle. They have upped badge drops finally so there are other ways to get your badges if that is what you are after. Having the puzzles turned into peace zones is actually a popular opinion but the elitist group makes a fair point that it is a warzone and neutral zones should not exist and based on the silence of the devs it has been accepted this won’t be changing any time soon if at all. There is invisibility fountains in EB but you need to be good at the puzzle too.
I highly doubt precursors prices dropping unless they either give the mystic toilet a better drop rate or provide better loot for the casual player. I have given in after 1500 hours and hundreds of rares/exotics in the forge; I finally gave in and began to farm CoF. It is far too hard to make good gold in this game, remove CoF, orr mat farming and the new daily chests then you tell me what is there left to farm in the game? How would you make gold? Merching blues/greens months on end?
What I mean is that it gives the illusion of making you rich. Yeah, 300 gold could get you pretty much any precursor some months ago. Now you’re looking at about twice that amount. Because everyone and their grandma thinks they can get rich by making fast money in CoF, which all it does is pump more money into the game. More money in the game = Wealthier player base = Higher precursor prices.
Not just that, but you basically support the current system as it is. If people would just stop running the treadmill of endless grind, maybe ArenaNet would get the hint that their current system is absolute garbage.
But since everyone’s jumping on the “zOMG must farm moneys 10h a day speedrunning CoF to buy meh legendaries lolz” bandwagon, ArenaNet will see no need to change anything and will happily introduce more insane grinds to the game to accommodate to the zombified player-base.
You misunderstand me, I don’t want to “jump on the bandwagon” but I am left with no option as my interest wanes in grind wars more and more. I don’t want to support this system and in other games I never do but there is not much else in the game for me to do. Why should I farm blues/greens to not support while everyone else makes 20 times what I make in a fraction of the time? Why bother? They won’t nerf it till everyone in the player base is farming it. CoF is not the endless grind that needs to be nerfed, the mystic toilet/precursor challenge is. I don’t want to do it but I want my precursor too and I won’t wait much longer :/
EDIT: Forgot to add that it is not just CoF; once or IF it ever is nerfed then the “efficient” gamers will find a new route to easy gold, and once that is nerfed they look again, and again, etc. You could nerf CoF but what needs to be nerfed is what we need all the gold for. Making a single precursor drop per account would destroy most of this overpricing on precursors and if they force it to be account bound on acquire then that will stop people from making money off it. Should have been done in the first place.
To make my idea a bit more coherent, I’ll break it down;
1. leave the mystic forge way of gaining precursor as it is, (this provides a way for multiple precursors)
2. add a precursor claim ticket which gives you a choice of your precursor,
3. this precursor must be account bound or if soulbound then ticket must be account bound,
4. claim ticket is gained from personal story completion (PS is trash and useless waste of time),
5. move the pact weapons availability to when fort trinity opens for that player (rare weapons for PS is a stupid reward),
6. every other grind for the legendary left as it is also (all within a players grasp and mostly unaffected by TP flipping).

I feel this is kind of like the famous Spongebob question.
“How do SB and Patrick breathe while underwater?”
“It is a cartoon about a sponge in a pineapple and a starfish in pants and you want to argue the realism of them breathing underwater?”
What did it look like? A bit like Manhattan except cleaner.
You should turn on the numbers. No confusion then.
Just realised I have had the numbers turned on since day 1 XD but I also agree with the OP on fixing the image icon, it is a legitimate oversight.
Necros get to syphon health with their downed 1 skill. I guess this is intentional.
Wouldn’t it be nice if a dev could bother to give us that explanation rather than us playing for months with uneven classes and guessing that ourselves. Honestly none of the classes are on equal footing when it comes to downed skills.
Necro – life siphon
guardian – group aoe knockback
ranger – single target stun
engi – single target interrupt which pulls foe closer
(edited by Turial.1293)
It is probably the COF1 farmers who drive the price of legendaries so high, out of the price range of players who don’t farm COF1 with speed runs.
That’s right.
People complain about precursors being too expensive, but then they proceed making the situation only worse by pumping huge amounts of money into the game by speedclearing the same dungeon over again.
Well, as soon as ArenaNet nerfs this amount of income, you’ll see the prices of precursors dropping. Assuming speedrunners don’t find the next thing that makes as much as CoF did.
False. Try playing an Engineer and using that website, you’ll wait for hours to get a group.
This doesn’t compute.
Doesn’t it?
I spent 40 minutes today trying to find a group for my Engineer, then I had to switch to another, more “wanted” class.
Trust me it is not just engis, I have spent that length of time with my zerk warrior trying to get groups before but that is due to people never taking down their lfg posts, which bugs the hell out of me. If you are advertising that you are an engi then I would assume nobody would ever add you to their group. No offense of course, i like engis but I am in the minority
Where’s the -1 button?
+1
Although my +1 to your -1 would imply a zero sum, when in fact the intention of my +1 is to support your -1 leaving a -2.
If I recall from school a positive/positive ( + / + ) equals to a positive and a negative/positive (-/+) results in an overall negative.
+1
Tower Clock and SAB are epic. And I think they are epic because you don’t expect a big reward from them, unlike in other zones (*cough*ascendeditems*cough*). You simply play them because they are fun.
Because of expecting these things I purchased GW2, thanks.
cough-super adventure skin-cough
We play them because they are fun and not required to grind for months to get the items.
While removing SW from rotation can we also remove temple, khylo and the rest since they are wayyyyyyyy outdated by this time. SW is by far the best map in spvp and there are more ways to win than just focusing on the orb, personally never bother with the orb myself and tend to do well on that map even with hotjoins but it will be balanced soon apparently. I would do things to get new maps…. serious things.
No point punishing anyone in such a small pool of players.
so you find it acceptable if 1,2,3,4? players of your team decide to quit in a tourney or just decide not to play and afk…. that is fair to you? they should not be punished? why? because of the lack of players? there is several reasons why there is a lack players, one of them being that any kitten will enter a tournie and not show up and another reason being this happens for 2+ hours some days.
1-up
because
lets face it, the game has gotten horribly boring in certain ways and various aspects for a multitude of players, the minigames are almost non-existent too. we have a couple of good ones at halloween and wintersday for a few days a year and then other that we have keg brawl and…. um… we have… yeahhhhhhhh
the game NEEDS this permanent if they want to keep players playing as it is a good way to kill some time and escape some of the drudgery of grinding orr/cof :/ it is fun and enjoyable while still being hard too, to remove it would be another bad move on their part. if need be, they could just move the box to somewhere less awkward than bang in the middle of rata sum but not just remove it.
Game over
Most people who dislike this kiddy mini game, aren’t going to be reading this forum and the biased poll. I haven’t even played this game since I last tried that stupid game. Its enough that it makes me want to quit for good.
Every holiday event anymore is a joke. Always requiring grouping, and always some stupid puzzle with toys as rewards. Next update will be a fantasy coloring book for all of you to enjoy… you know, for “Nostalgia’s” sake. Just because something is from the past doesn’t make it good or right.
most players? got some evidence of that? just because more people have an opposite opinion to you does not mean it is biased eye-roll sounds to me like you just didnt enjoy it nor put any time into it. you must hate the holiday events since it takes your farming buddies away from you…. SAB does NOT require grouping which brings me back to you did not play it enough. if you dont like it, there is no need to play for the stupid skins… hence why i dont do CM. fantasy colouring book? ok, that was funny :P
(edited by Turial.1293)
Fact is when I end up in a 3v5 or 4v5 match I just sit there at spawn, because 97% of the time you will get face-rolled by the full team of 5. I find the faster the match ends, the faster I can queue up for a full team, thankfully I have not had as many 3-4 teams since the update but it still does happen. I would not mind taking a point drop if it meant I could get a full team faster.
I would actually LOVE the system from LoL to be used here, it might increase the reports on players and the already prevalent childish behaviour will increase but at least players will feel they are making a difference when reporting rage quitters, afk’ers and downright unpleasant people to play with, that sense of control is important.
Maybe I am weird but the colour of the professions in the PvP tab annoy me. They are very similar looking colours and they dont respond to the colours of the professions skills if you get what I mean. Any thoughts about adjusting these colours?
I have provided an image to better explain and yes I know my paint skills are uber-pro, I guess I was just born with the skill
For regular sPvP I think there is no problem with coming and going, that is how the format runs but for tPvP yes it gets frustrating when you enter a tournie and get a team of 3v5 and a glory penalty is a great idea, in fact I have been saying it myself for months. I once spent over 2 hours doing tournies before i got a full 5-man team and that is ridiculous. As “daydream” says above, which was gonna be my response also to “mbh”, if you dont want to play then don’t queue up. There also needs to be a way to officially leave a tournie match, I would rather take 1-200 points loss than sit in a doomed match for 15 minutes.
“You can’t spell Ranger without ANGER!!”
Lol but seriously, I am a ranger at heart and I can honestly say they can hold up by themselves a lot, they can carry teams in dungeons (I know because I have done it myself), they condition, spike and combo field as well as other classes and while they may not have constant buffs like the guardian or dps like an ele they do bring a lot to the table when used effectively. Sadly there are a lot of bad rangers… no wait, players, out there. You see them with their berserk warriors in CoF wiping constantly on the slave driver, you see them on their guardians in AC getting constantly downed by spike traps or flame jets. It is not the class, it is the player. Some players are better with certain classes, their just seems to be a lack of interest in learning how to play a ranger correctly. Guardians, any monkey can run these but it takes skill to use them correctly – Mesmer, one of the most popular but I suck tremendously with mine and that does not mean the class is bugged/broken.
“Are Rangers the most useless?” Nope, not by a longbow… eh longshot.
They are however unpopular, like the AV kids in your high school, they have their uses but nobody wants to socialize with them.
