Please, remove the combo killer, that stuff is just…. it does not even make sense. Why would you put something like this as a daily requirement? Its annoying, time wasting blob of utter and complete nonsense.
To give people cause to play together? Seems fair if you want the daily in an MMO for crying out loud.
Created 10 copper ingots, done.
Now we just have to figure out the combo. Me and my friend are throwing down fields and shooting through it without getting any credit towards it at all.
I believe you need to use a move marked combo finisher, plus the field, and probably use the finisher to get the kill.
Got the daily already, quite easy with a random group where we were just doing an event, not even coordinating. Coordinating you can probably do it very very fast.
LOVE the new variety. It really reinvigorates things.
I’m super happy they fixed that! It was never a very funny bug to me, especially playing with headphones and the effect constantly going.
Here here! They truly go beyond what I had ever expected of a game company. Makes it a pleasure to keep playing this game.
This is unbelievable. I don’t understand how these things happen.
Then you don’t understand the internet? Speeds will clear up in a bit but traffic jams on a big patch are a GIVEN.
So is my mind lost or has players in this game gone crazy, not saying the game is perfect but give Anet and Play NC a break. They do happen to be operating on PST (even though play NC is based in TX). So guys the world does not revolve around your time zone if it did we would all be on time for work and all other matters in real life.
Online communities treat devs the way Eric Cartman treats his mother. I guess it’s just a maturity thing that is weirdly low among gamers… although games do aim for a low bar of addictive loot systems and violence so I guess they reap what they sow in a way.
Does anybody know exactly what time on the 28th the patch will be implemented?
I doubt Anet even knows that. Big patches can take a lot of last minute testing and work, so basically the release is “some time on the 28th in PST zone”
Um they had 3 major monthly updates in a row before this.
You mean maybe they took the same holiday the whole world took after that, and there isn’t a huge update for January? Oh the humanity. Geez Louise have a heart.
And I’m not out of content whatsoever. I have just one level 80, and I like to WvW and do dungeons so I’m pretty pumped at just how well this game is going.
Yep it’s a bit of a disaster. I understand what happened (ANet thinks being nicer is always better and so gave everyone a friendly warning about when free transfers will end) but unfortunately sometimes you HAVE to be mean.
Just giving people like 1-2 day’s notice would have been harsh but balanced against weeks of transfer-a-thon (think run at the bank) going on… I think mean was the realistic way to go here. Now we have to see if people can stomach picking up the pieces or if this is actually a big blow to WvW.
They should not have been so specific. Now you have servers being stacked like crazy, and if you have natural loyalty to someplace… well fat lot of good it will do you to be outnumbered.
It’s frustrating since it’s basically busting many structures that are part of the point of WvW, building a community and such. I’m sure it will settle out over MONTHS but it’s a shame it was handled in such a fashion as to encourage desertion.
They’re adding stuff to spread population to old areas, but for the most part people are in fractals/dungeons/wvw… and occasionally working on an alt. If you can’t find a party for dungeon use the gw2lfg dungeon finder website… I don’t know if we can link it here but it’s well known and very useful.
And finally is it dead? Um… no. I play every day with the most active guild and friendliest wvw pop yet. Not to mention the game is updated all the time.
That said I will say… was it better to roll your first character at launch? You better believe it because people are on their 80s now an don’t have to level anything else to play with you if they don’t feel like it. But as I said they’re actively looking to add new systems to fill out old content. Read the blog.
There are no plans currently. However, this is something that is not off the table for the future and is often day dreamed about. I’m sure everyone would love to see a large size event start and destroy something. as long as they didn’t own it.
The question we ask when building content is “can this be fun for all three teams involved?” This question is a large part of the design process, and often leads to changes or cancellation of content.
Very interesting. Well my thoughts on having something weird in WvW like a dragon are of course it would need to not really ruin the game but just give people a change of pace.
Sort of like how the Karka event worked when you go to the shores… something could “invade” WvW, points could be shut off, and all teams would really be focusing on finishing the event.
I guess it might be technically too hard but it seems odd to not go there ever. One thing I think WvW lacks is cool stories. It’s a bit binary even just in gameplay. That yak is always on the same route, that Y tower is always the one to get after tower X, even knowing exactly where to place trebs. So yeah I’m in favor of something that jostles things more whether that’s an event or gameplay or what have you. Don’t get me wrong I think WvW good but just too predictable.
I think the cap helps balance the game. In GW1 people would find ways to exploit the power of stacking one kind of damage and then only group with the same class to do speed runs and so forth. It messes up the openness of LFG in other words. As it is in GW2 people seem to take diverse groups without a problem so the cap seems to work.
Maybe a dev could answer this… I always wondered if there are plans for WvW ever getting some big events like in PVE. Dragon-sized stuff like one taking over Stonemist… could that ever happen?
Really would LOVE a fix for this. I’m playing ele now, and well that’s one of my main attunements. But the stuck on glitch is very irritating to deal with.
Constructive criticism is good. Acting like a spoiled person who’s overturning the dinner table because you didn’t get french fries tonight is sadly what a lot of people are like online. And you don’t have to be. ANet is KNOWN for listening so you’re actually being heard but while awkwardly filling your request with a hate speech all the time.
Oh well. Maybe someday we can have universal maturity in the world but probably not.
I agree with the OP. ANet is even more on the ball, faster, and definitely more equipped to handle their challenges than they were with GW1. It’s wild. They’re awesome at their jobs is all I can say.
Eventually we’ll get an expansion, but right now making the game even better is a really good goal, and we’ll benefit.
Congrats. I’ve been a gamer for ~25 years and GW2 is imo the model for state of the art online game. It’s a good time to game and ANet deserves credit.
Just want to say thanks to Anet for being incomparable at what they’re doing right now. Great updates, great communication, and best of all… great game! So thanks!
I got into heavily the last 2-3 weeks. It’s pretty fun but I have no idea how different it is server to server. My server has been kicking butt other than one encounter with a night cap server (that does suck I’ll admit) and everyone is fairly friendly and willing to help out.
I’m not crazy about this event.
On the high note is the art direction, and adding a music game (even if I have no intention at competing at a music game.) The jumping puzzle also finally strikes the right balance.
On the low note is Tixx gameplay recycled a bunch of times with the same grindy content. I would have rather have had a story and epic phases to it.
Also I’m used to GW1 wintersday, which had real finales, unlike this.
It’s cute but all of Tixx just feels like something went way wrong with event planning. This is grindish stuff that has lost the epic storyline like Mad King had.
It’s a cute mini game but in no way feels like a finale. But I guess they decided to kill the idea of finales because of all the people that complained about timing. This is what you get though… no huge event finale = rather simplistic content instead.
Just giving my feedback here. Tixx content quickly felt like the most grindish thing I’ve played in GW2.
Combat I’d rate maybe a 1/10. There was nothing to it but lots of it. That’s never really the best approach. I was annoyed to play this everyday just to get my reward. First time that’s happened in GW2.
Storytelling was surprisingly weak. GW2 usually has dynamic events with a story where the characters talk and move it along. This time none of the dialogue feels connected. None of the characters are doing anything. And you fight Toxx practically every day? You also repeat the same tasks on several days. You’re just quite obviously there to grind it out.
I’m surprised that’s what they came up with. To top it off the endless tonic RNG can eat your mats and stuff and you get nothing. That’s what happened to me after the first toy and I wasted a few gold.
I guess it’s hard to top the Mad King in awesome, or the rewards from Karka. It was certainly a unique idea and free content and I’m glad for both of those things. My main feedback is just: Tixx was too much of a grind and didn’t capture all the GW2 qualities I usually love.
11 tries and no endless tonic. Wasted a few gold at this point. Tempted to call it done with. These are cute items but nothing to break the bank for. You won’t even want to use next year because the seasonal feeling will be out of date.
6 tries. No endless. Disappointing.
It just took me about 2 minutes to get into LA. My system is decent for modern gaming and this problem is since the Wintersday updates. Any ideas to fix it? It’s rather annoying.
I bought one. Got a ticket to claim any wintersday skin I wanted and some junk. Still got a 500 gem value for 100 gems so it worked for me.
But you should know they’re a lotto when you use this. Don’t buy a lot with real money. It’s NOT really going to do any better then just getting one or two.
Took my team like 10 minutes after the mission. GS warrior is good for this.
I’ll be honest. I like GW1’s wintersday snowball PVP about 100x more.
There’s just a clumsy playstyle to this version that I’m not crazy about.
-Why having a starting point where you have to fall down? Lag often makes you take a faceplant animation (even if you didn’t fall that far on your computer) and be behind, which you have no control over.
-Why aren’t speed buffs abundant? It’s reallly slow and clunky to get around the map. That makes a ton of people likely to go scout and messes with team balance.
-Why is that downed skill with the ice patch immediately available? It’s super exploitable to cause a bunch of KDs… there should be a little bit of a a wind-up timer on it. I get that it could be funny… but it’s just too chaotic for people trying to play well IMO.
All in all, it’s a cool addition but sometimes painfully random results for people who want to play seriously.
I love the new stuff. If they just remade old stuff it would be incredibly dull for us GW1 players who would have no surprises about it. Despite what anyone says about “remake it with better graphics” that method of game development is always a flop. Cheers to ANet for originality!
It’s a good idea. I’d buy that.
Every giant gift I’ve opened gives me 1 piece of the junk. But it’s a lotto I guess, and you can save them anyway for the skins. edit: also you seem to be able to get them everywhere, as a mob drop for example, so calling it “giant” is kind of a weird choice

I beat it already. Never got even 2/3 of clock tower. The secret to jumple puzzles to me (the ones I can do anyway) is good steering into your camera control more than jumping. Lose camera control and you’re definitely in trouble. And for jumping you just have to be sure to have your thumb very firmly in the center of the spacebar.
Yeah I get the error. No big deal. Happens to Team Fortress 2 every update.
Man it’s like some people don’t realize that real life has delays. Ever get stuck in traffic for an hour? Just chill and be happy that life is so cool that we even have a game like this.
Elites are terrible but I think the trouble is they can’t be made powerful without being exploited.
For example if you made norn shapeshift forms do huge damage then people would want groups running with that to speed kill dungeon bosses.
So the real trouble with “elites” is as a concept it just doesn’t work. There’s nothing that can really be done to fix it. They just have to remain in kind of a false position of importance, to some degree or they’d mess up the game balance to kingdom come.
Us players will experience a increase in player activity and will solve the problem with low-mid level zones being empty.
Nah, they’ve always been empty. It’s just a gigantic game world. But the content is 95% soloable anyway.
Boy it makes them nervous when they see how well GW2 is doing
I doubt WoW is worried about GW2 Most of the people I came here with are already back and playing and enjoying. But besides that wow is guaranteed a 15 month subscription fee a month regardless of anything they can kinda count on that a GW2 kinda depends on some one buying gems regardless of the numbers playing if no one buys their gems they are losing money every second they stay on line
Don’t think you understand the economics. Guild Wars 1 ran for years before even having any micro-t store. You can stay afloat solely off box copies… micro-t is just a nice money maker for ANet to really kick things up.
WoW’s $15 a month is completely bogus by the way and barely used towards players whatsoever. That’s just how the fake MMO charges racket had run though, and fortunately a few rare companies believe in honest charges not “monthly just because”
You can get 100% exploration, make a legendary, get a dungeon armor set, play PVP, farm, play the market, or my favorite right now do Fractals.
Or… just start a new character with a whole new choice of story, race, and profession.
Gosh so few options… if you’re ignoring all the amazing content that’s there I guess.
It is well done. I LOVE the fact that FotM isn’t cut and dry and predictable at every step. I failed a run on lvl 11 yesterday which actually makes me happy. If you never had to think and just want to mindless grind, you can always go find something to farm. This is about playing, which is pretty cool.
The asura Santa Claus is a great twist. Looks like another stellar event coming, which makes for a very impressive 3 month streak.
The game is so much fun.
The update was just the shot in the arm it needed to make PVE fun for high levels. To be honest I didn’t really find myself drawn to the old dungeons.
But getting more bag space and new type of dungeon has given my level 80 character a new life.
ANet is one of the best devs on the planet… unfortunately transplanting some other MMO communities has added a lot of people here with no experience with them. I’m disappointed in those that are so excitable and constantly freaking out, but I guess they’ll have to take their time to realize that ANet is a different kind of company. They are listening and you don’t have to be all melodramatic every day.
Yes. It would just make sense.
Work around that helps some of the time… just repeat the last difficulty you did if that’s available. If it’s a fast group they’ll keep going.
Now, this has no indication of difficulty, but both swamp and aquatic are easy as heck, and the fastest fractals. Whenever I see them Im more than happy.
Eesh, I built both of those… guess I need to toughen them up a bit…
Well do make the jellyfish fight more interesting. Nothing really going on there but spamming the thing for 5 mins…
edit: to be more constructive the best boss fights involve a lot of serious need for positioning. dodging, and teamwork in my opinion anyway.
but I do like the design of your areas. Quite cool, and swamp being the random ARGH factor for some people is nice. Not all the fractals should play the same and it’s great that they don’t.

Some people that were lucky enough to have nothing to do last weekend and open a chest got 1-3 precusors worth 200-300 gold plus all kinds of loot.
Hahaha. Think about what you’re saying. If it were at all true those weapons would have crashed in price to like 10 gold within a few hours. Most people got exotics, but that doesn’t mean precursor.
I was happy the whole weekend (and before the patch came out.) Nothing changed. Tons of amazing new free content. This game rules. I don’t know what else people want sometimes that’s actually possible. This is pretty much the max possible in MMO entertainment in this day and age.
Hahahaha… good?
No. Play Fractals of the Mist. There are several good fights in it.
People just like this event because of the massive loot at the end but actually doing it was utterly tedious and non-strategic.
