F2 skill for shield

in Warrior

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

As said by the comments above and something I’ve said before, to make Warriors more interesting and up the skill cap for them, I think adding another F2 that corresponds to the off-hand or any 2hander will be the best move.

Adrenaline has such potential, but since Warriors only have 1 ability (2 if you count swapping) their ability to choose is limited and that limitation means less skill progression Given that this extra F2 shares cooldown with F1 and has its own functionality that makes it situational rather than competing about damage, it could easily be balanced by implementing the right sort of F2’s.

With an F1 and F2, with weapon swap, that gives warriors 4x Adrenaline attacks, which I feel is more balanced to most classes that uses the whole F1, 2, 3 and 4 system like Elementalist, Engineer and Mesmer.

So the idea to a F2 ability is great, this idea with shield is lacking. Instead there should be something else.

Found Heirlooms/Belongings Vendor

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

So after cashing it all in on my main character, I noticed I had plenty of Belongings left on an alt. I went to one of the refugee camps and noticed both of these exclusive vendors has all been removed.

I bet there’s been threads about this already, but since I took a short break and came back without noticing any on the front page, I thought I’d bump this concern.

To me removing any of these vendors this early makes no sense. Why the rush? Lion’s Arch hasn’t been fixed already and the refugee camps still exist, I see no reason to remove the vendors especially if people have forgotten they had these tokens on any character and wanted to cash them in for some items.

Anyway, I’d be very happy to hear if there’s been any information whether they’ll put these vendors out there again or if I’ve missed something and they’ve just been moved.

Lol, while I love the idea of a Norn being built like a freaking tank, we both know that isn’t realistic. Bones and flesh of Norn guardian versus Human Necromancer are essentially equal (especially considering that necromancers have super high health pool and guardians super low) in terms of the game mechanics, I really don’t think it makes as much sense as you’re implying.

It’s a fantasy world afterall, and norn are pretty much described as Hercules in flesh, able to lift things way beyond their weight and battle foes way out of their size difference. They can take and handle a lot more than any other race, including charr. They’ve been described to kill a whole charr warband all alone.

True, but the Krytan Government only allowed Lions Arch to remain independent so that it could act as a defense against Orr. With that threat gone the Krytan Governments reasons for allowing it to remain independent are gone.

Other than Lion’s Arch has grown into a very very trade influenced city, that’s become rich enough to put expenses on portal to every city, which furthered their own trade. And the fact that Lion’s Arch had become a quite powerful independent small nation.

Now with it all in rubble, it would be a great time for the Queen to make it part of Kryta, though it would bring salt on already deep wounds and I can’t see the Queen being that greedy. The Ministry though seems likely to wanna get their hands on Lion’s Arch, as its trade would make them bath in riches.

I think you forget that it’s the Captain’s Council that’s to be blamed both times and last time at Claw Island, it was also the charr officer in command of defending Claw Island who underestimated the attack.

So if anyone, it’s some of the people at the Captain’s Council that voted “no” to preparing Lion’s Arch for the attack that should go down. I doubt Magnus was part of the ones voting no, since he’s like a father to Ellen and would trust her.

It’s not as much the Lionguard’s fault as some of the Council members. Without their support, the Lionguard can’t do anything drastic about it.

I’d love this, and I do hope they come with new bodytypes later, scarred would be something I’d like to see to be new, seeing as norn has revealing armor, this would be awesome to show.

Another thing concerning bodystyles; I play a female norn and what’s bothered me is that the most bulkiest bodytype (which isn’t fat, just bulky) don’t have a texture for muscles like the other bodytypes too.

With that said, they should add a chubby version for female. Cause as I said, the option you have now isn’t fat or chubby, it’s bulky. Whereas males and most other races has a bulky and then a chubby one.

Remove Loot!

Tyragon.2496

Loot is fine. You’ll earn MORE loot from doing the event properly. Let those that don’t understand have their couple bits of blues/greens. I’d rather win the event for better rewards.

Problem is, those mindless people running in zergs to get loot, STILL get the meta event reward, that you worked hard for by saving civilians.

It’s all backwards, those people who are most selfish, running in zergs just to tag mobs and champions, and the guys speedrunning for the heirlooms found in the rubble, gets the most rewards. Not the guys sticking out to save civilians and increase the meta reward.

Tyragon.2496

Zerging is still the best way to win if winning means getting the most loot. As an example, some people have mentioned that you get 100 of the bags for reaching 1000 saved. Meanwhile the farmers were getting over 200 already.

Ofcourse, which is the problem. The most loot should be by getting the most civilians to safety, not by tagging mobs, we already have enough content with that.

The problem I mentioned is that you can run in a zerg, get those 200 bags, and STILL get that extra 100 bags from not even helping a single civilian, whilst the guys who did this, got the same reward, minus the 200 other bags.

It’s all wrong. There should be this reward everyone gets, but getting no personal reward at all for saving civilians and escorting them is bonkers. By adding rewards to civilians it gives atleast something for going out there.

In concern to tagging civilians, personally I think they should’ve packed the civilians together. You “collect” or “gather” the civilians by clicking them as part of an event, they rally at a spot and when enough are there, you escort them. No HUGE waves of tough mobs needs to be required. Staying in that circle with the civilians for X amount of time until the very end should earn yourself the reward.

I made a topic just like this, without noticing this one: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/escape/Suggestion-Civilians-Individual-Rewards/first#post3671001

I wholly agree with this. As I said in my topic, you are really undermined as someone saving civilians, everyone gets the same reward for reaching that civilian cap, even if you zerg around doing nothing but wait for events.

As I mentioned in mine, let civilians drop Found Heirlooms and Found Belongings as a token of gratitude. This fits so well with it and one of them as you can buy stuff with it from the vendors, though I’d advice to decrease the silver required for them to make it an actual reward. Then add achievements, cause it makes more sense to be rewarded with achievement points for something as selfless as rescuing civilians rather than go poke around rubble for Found Heirlooms that only rewards you.

I also think that as much as I love the direction Anet is taking this game, with the more recent anti-zerg events, it’s not that informative. People are still in the old mindset that zerg = best way to win. There needs to be way more information in-game and tools that can show everyone that zerging is in the past.

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Tyragon.2496

I just gotta start I love this event and this whole idea, it’s amazing, but it has its flaws.

First off, the event clearly tries to promote saving civilians, and even if you can get that counter up by completing events, the best way is to go out and save civilians yourself to increase the number.

The problem is, that for anyone just going around saving civilians, you miss out on a lot of loot opportunities, even if you kill the normal mobs on the way. You will get less loot than someone going in a zerg, and someone in a zerg still gets the same civilian reward as you do. Couple that with the fact that the events are quite anti-zerg, meaning you lose the events easier with the more people you have, which means people in zergs contributes even less but still rewarded.

Then you have the heirlooms dropped from the rubble. I love this idea, but it’s a very selfish goal, which is really ironic with the “Selfless Potion”. Don’t get me wrong, you can save civilians and do events on the way, but you can just skip them all and go straight for the rubble and still be rewarded.

What needs to be done? Add individual rewards to saving a civilian. Civilians should be the ones that gives you the most of the refugee heirlooms and belongings, cause they are the refugees. See it as a token from them showing the gratitude you saved them.

I think this would balance the loot vs gameplay style during the event, split up zergs so more events completes and increase the civilian saved during these events. More people would be inclined to go out and save civilians, as they’d get rewards, rewards which you can use at the vendor after to get something quite as equal to just killing mobs and doing events. To make saving civilians even more encouraged, you can add achievements to it, just like locating the rubble.

In the end, the idea here is to add individual rewards for saving the civilians, cause why save civilians when you can get loot from zergs AND get the event civilian reward as a bonus?

Do post your opinions and suggestions to help with this idea.

On the way, we could find out more about the Consortium and what their agenda is. Ofcourse, I don’t feel we need to make the Consortium the bad guys, they always were the more grey area factions you both wanna help at some points, and other times stop them.

Why are Scarlet's allies still following her

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

Pretty simple, Scarlet was able to convince them and by showing again and again how she’s the only one able to match the other superior races/factions alongside the heroes of Tyria, they have no choice but to follow her if they wish to gain anything.

She may not have won any battles, but with all her advancement in technology and what she’s able to provide for these races, it looks like Scarlet is leaning towards winning the war, which means a lot more than any battle.

I bet this last attack on Lion’s Arch will prove if Scarlet is still capable of leading them and if they still wanna follow her. I think it’s clear that the ones in the alliances wants one thing in common: to become more powerful and bash the living hell out of the races/factions and heroes that have done it to them.

Sweet payback.

Ever thought how each of these races/factions have been bullied by us, the heroes, and our races/factions that are clearly superior? It’s clear that what these alliances wants, which is to pummel us to the ground and show who are the superiors now.

Flame Legion always wanted to crush the other legions, dredge have always been bullied and been a minority, krait just hates every other race but can probably put it aside for their own gain, Nightmare Court sees the other sylvari as naive and wants everyone to see their way is right, Inquest has always wanted their way through, seeing the council at Rata Sum as naive and weak with their rules and it’s likely whatever Scarlet is doing with the leylines has them interested and the pirates.. well… they are being threatened by Scarlet to either follow her or die.

As you see, everyone has a reason and it’s mostly to show everyone else that is on our side that they are nolonger the superiors over them. There’s also reasons why they work with Scarlet which we got to know, like dredge already trusting Inquest due to their cooperation before.

People also forget Evon Gnashblade is Ash, and someone from Ash Legion can be just as cunning with retrieving information and stealth as someone from Order of Whispers. It makes sense for him to have a large network of information gatherers working under him, especially as it would aid him in the Black Lion Company.

As mentioned, I doubt Evon would go out and get all info by himself. He most likely makes deals and hires people to gather the information, and since he runs the most successful business, he has all the money he needs to make it possible.

[Merged][PvP][Warrior] Healing Signet is Too Powerful

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

The Healing Signet is mostly about not being nuked down, able to kite your enemy and that your environment offers ways to be line out of sight for ranged.

Once two people start focusing a Healing Signet warrior that isn’t kiting, he’s screwed. Healing Signet is a 1v1 beast, which I think is fair for warriors to be good at. But as soon as you go above it, 1v2 with equally skilled players, a warrior has no chance unless you’re playing on maps like Skyhammer cause it’s great for kiting once low on HP.

What Healing Signet SHOULD NOT get is a flat nerf, it’ll break warriors into uselessness. What it needs is a overhaul and a gimmick. As I mentioned earlier, Healing Signet could be remade into “Brawler Signet” where the closer you are to an enemy, the more it heals. This means that kited warriors and warriors fleeing, gets healed less from the passive.

Along that, the active needs to be buffed, either more healing, giving a boon/boons or something gimmicky.

PvE Zerkers.

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

I think bosses should be harder.
Or to be accurate- smarter like real pvp player scenarios.

1) mobs should MOVE. faster and all the time. This would require an immobilze coordination for 100cheezslices.

2) constant melee dmg and interrupts. U know. Like any real pvp scenario

I think we need to get rid of melee zerkers, and try to reach a mix of zerker ranged/ melee more tanky / cc support

I’ve entertained the idea of AI that behaved more like players. Right now mobs are simply far too predictable to require any sort of genuine skill to defeat, and making them more mobile, quick, and sporadic would do wonders to promote more active play in PvE.

Just as I mentioned in my post above. This, all this. Mobs needs AI overhaul or atleast some improvement. I don’t know how much work it requires and how it’s right now, but this would fix a lot of zergs.

The combat system is only fully realized in PvP, and since we lack holy trinity, you need more advanced mobs so that anything but damage becomes crucial.

So far we’ve seen more diversity in mobs, and I hope it improves with the LS. Mobs need utility that is anti-zerg and especially anti-stacking. Mobs in dungeons SHOULD TRY to finish off a downed player, which would require knockbacks and stuns.

Later on, they should add movement on mobs. Not the “chase and attack” tactic, but actually spreading out when they are clustered, ranged kiting the players and weaker mobs trying to flank the player group and get up behind.

good ideas here. One option to make support more important (not viable though ^^) would be to town down #6 heal-spells of all classes and increase (scaling of) AoE-Heals on weapons/utilities.

I agree with this guy. The problem is that heals are already powerful enough that they don’t require extra healing power. If they nerfed every healing in the game, even the self heal, it would suddenly make things a lot harder without a support and those spells would become significantly better if the scaling was increased.

Having atleast 1 or 2 sort of condition removals is viable in PvP, given how it’s a big part of it. If you don’t have it, then all you can do is try kite your enemy until it wears off or run off, not much you can do.

Confusion is laughable with condition removal, as that supposedly big stack turns into nothing and the enemies confidence just dwindled.

Other than that though, I completely agree with the op’s post.

You should try Smite. Action based MOBA, reminds me of GW2’s combat just more action, which makes use of taunt on a hero. The players autoattack that hero for up to about 2½ seconds and mindlessly runs into it. Imo, that isn’t impossible for GW2 to have.

I don’t mean a taunt much like in WoW where once you taunt, you increase your aggro, no, that’s not my idea. This other taunt can even be used on players as a CC, much like reversed Fear.

Explicit Warrior Balance Suggestions

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

I would say that the “slowing warriors down” or “remove movement skills” from the class is a complete no no. It may not make sense for a heavy guy to run fast, but in the gaming world warriors have always been these guys who are masters at closing the gap between them and their enemy. They are the masters of close combat, and if they can’t reach close combat, than why sport melee weapons at all. If anything, if they lacked it, warrior would need a buff not only in armor, but in damage.

I do agree though that greatsword is getting tiresome. The greatsword legendaries means nothing in my eyes, cause everyone and their dog has either Sunrise or Twilight. The problem with Hundred Blades isn’t the damage, but in PvE, it’s because all mobs are dumb enough to just stand in it. What we need is mobs that moves away when they take too much damage unless immobilized, just like players.

{Non PvE}All "movement" weapon skills

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

In my opinion, I think they should give a quite balanced variety of movement skills for each class that could make use of it once they start adding the other weapons to class and new skills.

Ofcourse, some classes just will have more of them. Warrior has always been a crazy guy running after you in heavy armor and still able to catch up, cause a warrior is as specialized in close combat as you can get, they NEED to have ways to get up in your face.

Still, I agree that some classes lacks movement skills, if that’s just for roaming.

I liked the idea I once read that the closer you are to an enemy, the more it heals you. Say like at X radius (considered close combat) it heals for the current amount. Then once you reach X radius (a bit further than close combat) the passive healing is reduced.

And so it continues to reduce so that a warrior that is kiting someone with longbow or far away from his target heals for about 50% less on his passive, than a warrior in the thick of the battle.

I think this is a lot better than just flatout nerfing it. I also want them to change the active so it does something else/more than just flatout healing yourself, it’s way too dull and useless.

Improving Healing Power & Support Play

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

I think we need more skills and weapon skills that are quite OP in support, but hard to land instead of pressing a button and poof, you got boons, or just targetting an area.

I don’t have any ideas myself that I can throw out, but seeing as support isn’t truly required in dungeons, it needs unique stuff to it. With the boons and combos we have now, we might need a few more to really make support a whole category for itself, maybe even adding some new mechanic as well.

Either way, support needs more love, not just with healing. Even if GW2 is not supposed to have tanks, what I want is a “taunt” ability that forces the mob to chase and attack you for X seconds and then goes back to doing what it did. This ability could save allies and even be quite fun in sPvP as a sort of supportive control role.

PvE Zerkers.

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Tyragon.2496

Tyragon.2496

The problem isn’t as much as the classes, stats and anything with the players. The problem is that the PvE mobs lacks the AI complexity to make use of support and control roles, and it’s mostly due to the lack of holy trinity, cause with it you can dumb down your PvE encounters.

The PvE mobs are way too clumsy and stupid compared to how fluent and fast-paced GW2’s combat is without the holy trinity. Most of the mobs and bosses have way too few abilities to counter the players and also fall for the “stacking” tactic.

What we need is mobs with more abilities that can combo eachother, more bosses like the Molten Facility where two bosses complement eachother or environments that complement the boss and we need mobs updated with a anti-stack tactic.

I’d love to see mobs that avoid standing on eachother or players, and when too clustered, runs away or moves to the side, and can even flank the players if they stand still. What more, we could need more mobs that dodge and perhaps even try to finish off a player when downed, which would promote stuns. If the mobs did this, we’d also see conditions such as weakness, immobilize and cripple be used.

I am not proposing all mobs to be updated, but future hardcore dungeons, dungeon revamps and higher fractal level. If the PvE NPCs started to counter the players and use tactics themselves to break down groups with full DPS, then we could see more groups that would utilize a mix of control, support and DPS I believe.

This would require a more complex AI for the PvE mobs, and I think this is worth investing into. As I said earlier, GW2’s combat is way too action based for stale “chase and attack” mobs to work and even prove a challenge.

Defense Warriors in explorable dungeons?

Tyragon.2496

I say, play the way you feel the safest. Going full zerker requires experience and certain skills, not everyone gets it and you certainly wont get it without having run the dungeons several times.

A group will be more happy that you have moderate defense for survival instead of going down constantly and being forced to be ressed or end up dying. Both of those outcomes means less DPS anyway, cause you nor anyone healing you ain’t doing any DPS at that moment.

I’ve found that with high defense, you -can- tank, and by doing that, you can help your team have 100% focus on DPSing. It’s not recommended as warrior, personally better as guardian, but it’s not impossible and some friends like my semi-tanking characters for the relief of a more relaxing run.

To whoever said there aren’t any Roman Empire themes in game, I’d point at charr. They are quite Roman, mixed with Mongolians and a bit of another civilization, but still very Roman. I love them for it.

Anyway to norn, I would point towards stuff like Varangian Guards, who were pretty much the elite army in Byzantine Army. I believe only vikings were taken into this unit and that’s what made them elite.

My history teacher told a story about Varangian guards and how they held Constantinople in a more accurate 300 story than the Spartans, and fought more ferociously and killed more enemies than the Spartans when they held the passage. I can’t remember which war led to an attack that jeopardized Constantinople, all I remember my teacher and I talking about Spartans versus vikings, and that whilst he finds the Spartan and greek history intriguing, it’s far more legend than what the vikings and Varangians were.

So all in all, Germanic people and vikings were real kittenes and tough warriors. Able to tackle most foes that were more advanced than them both military and equipment.

Also, the vikings were true explorers, journeying all over Europe and beyond, into the east before any other civilization did and even found America long before it was claimed and colonized.

Female Voice

I love the female norn voice, Claudia Christian is perfect.

The problem I have which I believe some do too is that compared to the other voice actors for races, she does sound bored at points, like she doesn’t have the enthusiasm or motivation.

A great example is the Warrior Shout abilities. All other races adds that exclamation mark when they say “Shake it off!” “On my mark!” whilst female norn feels more like she says it rather than shouting it.

I play a Guardian though and with those Shouts she actually do shout, but there’s some speeches where more enthusiasm in the Claudia’s voice could’ve been needed but it fell off short.

Wow, an Emergency Patch

EVERY MMO and game ends up releasing a hotfix patch after a big release. It’s inevitable, no matter how many tests, you can’t predict the outcomes when it’s live.

The patch file was around 60MB, I checked, took about 15 seconds to download. It most likely took longer for you because so many others were downloading it at the same time, your internet is slow or there’s some firewall problem you have.

It was also changed on Charr to show horns and ears. Will that be reverted?

EDIT: The Gas Mask has also undergone this change.

I got a feeling horns showing on the hood for charr was meant to be changed and might stay. Dunno why the ears would pop out, but I always found headgear to look ridiculous when suddenly charr can remove their horns as they wish when putting one on, even if it clips.

The Gas Mask always had horns and ears show, if you meant that.

it is because for whatever reason, these jumping puzzles use the pvp code for creating the instances.
on the pvp roadmap is letting you bring in your pve cloths into pvp so it will get fixed by then at least.

They have a pretty good reason. sPvP makes makes you unable to use any sort of bundles which can be used for exploit, it also makes it easier to keep the map open with a timer and I also believe that having sPvP maps up is easier than having Overflows, seeing as the JP only has a few people and an Overflow is meant to house about a hundred or more.

It all comes down to technical reasons, instead of having to create a new type of server map that isn’t sPvP or PvE. That might come down the line, but it’s not a priority given how time consuming and probably requires additional resources.

If I remember right, Halloween this year released the holiday themed townclothes later down the line, it’s very likely Wintersday is the same that after 1-2 weeks from release, they are up.

I assure you they will appear, it wouldn’t make any sense if they didn’t.
