Archage has bad combat mechanics,etc. You cant compare AA to GW2.

Not at all. The combat might not be as streamlined as GW2’s but it’s combo system and wide variety to build customization are absolutely wonderful. In AA you have to actually pay attention and plan your attacks, where as in GW2 you have a LOT more room for error and can mitigated most all damage just by dodging.

Ignoring the overarching issues, like how this is going to be a tournament where there have been no changes to improve the long list of problems to WvW, is it really in the best interest to start a Tournament 3 days after the new content comes out? This leaves virtually no room for error. So if any of the new additions happen to cause issues, like how arrow cart mastery was at the start, how can we be sure they can be taken care of before we’re stuck with them for the duration of the tournament?

Because Season 2 was a major success.

You’re dang freaking right it was. I was able to play WvW as usual and earn two dang ascended earrings from that crap. Plus our server didn’t have to face the same opponents over and over and over again.

Free loot plus a change of pace in gameplay? Bring that crap back!

No it wasn’t. It might have been good for you and your server but for everyone else we were either paired up against the same servers we’ve always been fighting or servers that had considerably less coverage than us. To make matters worse, the servers we fought now had more incentive to do the ppt game. So, it was boring matches of playing against more ac’s and more chasing running zergs that refuse to fight.

This should be badges, or at least make it so that unlocking additional colors are for badges.

And to most of the above, the OP was trying to make the point that the feature should have allowed multiple colors from the start. The point of the tag was to allow people to organize, not act as who has the most coin.

If they wanted a money sink then they could have just offered additional optional colors or shapes ;rainbow colored tag, patchwork colored tag, crossbone shaped tag, etc; but instead they did this…

And we should be thanking them? Lets look at what they’ve given us so far.

1) Golem Mastery : More encouragement for blobbing keeps.

2) Siege Disabler Trick: Realistically, it’s going to be used most efficiently by the larger offensive force to disable interior counter siege while keeping aoe suppression on walls to protect their ranged siege; catapults and omegas. Not to mention this will severely hurt havoc groups since they wont have the supply to build multiple pieces of siege to handle theirs being disabled.

3) Commander Tag Changes: Commanders in WvW typically dont have a lot of gold to throw around after their done buying siege or the mats to upgrade siege. So when you up the price for a tag to 300g and add in the fact that you have to pay 300g for each tag — just to have a feature to make multi commander coordination more effective — you are just needlessly hampering potential new commanders or the ones without massive blob followers.

Here is a serious question. What will be the general feelings from players towards the guilds that have sent in footage?

I am on the side of those who want to send in videos of glitches, incorrect tooltips we count on, cheats, missing items and wrongful WvW associations.

Perhaps someone from the community should compile another WvW promo video, including the jewels that have been removed from this thread along with other little incidents that happen on a daily basis. Release it at the same time Anet release theirs and see how much they differ.

Yeah, it can be a compilation of people fly hacking, people under the map using omegas to break open gates gates, thieves stealthing off walls, people draining structures of supply to build troll siege, people siege capping an area/map with said troll siege, people being rezed through gates, people in EotM telling WvWers to go back to WvW if they want to fight, and end it with the ANet Dev that trolled the GvG.

This, so much. The reason devs don’t respond is because of all the red tape. There is the nondisclosure agreement and devs have to have their posts approved. It’s a no win situation at this point. The only hope is that upper management loosen their grip and let the devs communicate with us.

I wouldn’t worry too much. With all of the flak they’ve been getting over lack of communication, something is going to break. Whether that be the silence or the remaining WvW playerbase’s interest in the game.

Since it’s very unlikely anyone from anet will answer this question, here’s my completely 100% certified unfounded speculation:

1) PAX Prime starts in Seattle, WA on August 29, 2014; a stone’s throw from Anet’s offices in Bellevue, WA.

2) The 2 year anniversary of the launch of GW2 is August 28th, 2014; coinciding nicely with the start of PAX.

They likely want some videos to showcase the various game modes of GW2 in a positive light to drum up sales. The fact they asked the WvW community to help them in this endeavor demonstrates the depth of the disconnect between the company and the community. The shear audacity to come to us asking for help after two years of neglect means either:

A) Our concerns are not being escalated up the corporate hierarchy by those charged with that responsibility. Which means higher-ups truly have no clue how bad it really is down here in the trenches.

or

B) Upper management is very aware of the community’s mood, but just doesn’t give a kitten.

or

C) They give a kitten from the rank-and-file devs up to middle management, but the execs could care less because the metrics they rely on to tell them where the game is making money paint WvW as an underperformer from a profit standpoint (flawed metrics, by the way, as has been described in detail in other posts which have most likely been deleted by now). Thus there is no budget nor full-time staff dedicated to WvW; so they need our help in making it look like Everything Is Awesome!

Could also have something to do with the Trial Account data-mined stuff too.

@ balance and splitting skills: Splitting the entire game into 2 (or 3, if you want to be technical: PvE, WvW, PvP) sets of #‘s creates a LOT of overhead in maintaining 3 sets of numbers. As most skills are fine across game types, it’s more efficient to split off problem skills and leave the majority of skills consistent across game types. It also means that people have a general sense of relative balance across all game types, and don’t have 2-3 sets of numbers to learn.

You’re only splitting the game into PvE and PvP considering you haven’t actually communicated with the WvW community in the forums for months and haven’t added content to WvW in slightly over 6 months now.

I’d much rather see a video created by Arenanet that showcases all the upcoming awesome updates to WvW that makes us all say ‘Kitten Yeah!’, just like the original preview video I saw prior to launch that ultimately convinced me, a previously pure PvE player, to pre-order GW2. But I guess that ain’t gonna happen, huh?

It probably has something to do with the data-mined trial accounts . They need to find some way of replenishing the WvW pop since they’re loosing so many players.

Some Upgrade Ideas:

1) Road Block – Creates barricades around the sentry point that causes the Dolyaks, and possibly enemy players, to receive a slowed debuff while traveling through the Sentry area. Once the barricades are destroyed, the debuff ends until the barricades respawn.

2) Checkpoint – Gives the sentry guard, or possibly the sentry point itself, an aura that gives some swiftness to ally players and NPCs nearby.

3) Hire Additional Guards – As the name implies, gives 2 additional guards for a sentry point.

4) Deploy Scout – Places a respawning sentry turret, like the ones in EotM, at the sentry point.

i am trying to find what are doing these aetherblade pirates in the middle of the eotm ,except stacking me 10 bleeding from the spikes when i am passing their area….

is there any event on them to trigger any boss or they are the usual trash mobs in the middle of the map ?

No event or anything. They are there for the simple purpose of being a bridge in the storyline between WvW and the Living Story. In other words, they are like the Skritt or Centaur you would find in the Borderland map.

Let me start with this quote:

1. What is currently being worked on for WvW?

Do you think if you communicated better you’d avoid some of the huge negativity and toxicity on the WvW forums? Any plans to do something besides hiring more mods and creating additional CoC rules?

I am going to jump in here answer these as honestly as I am able.

  1. We can’t talk about that right now. Once the in-development features reach a state where we, as a company, are comfortable talking about them, we will.
  2. Some player requests are under development. What those are and when they will be completed, I can’t say at this time for reasons mentioned above.
  3. Devon is very busy with his job duties and only has limited time to devote to reading the forums. If he spent the time demanded of him responding to threads on the forums, his work would suffer. My job duties have me reading and reporting on the forums regularly to ensure that Devon and the rest of the team are aware of active concerns within the WvW community. I do this for other parts of the forum as well. As has been mentioned a multitude of times previously, our developers read the forums as much as they are able, but time prevents them from responding to everything they read.

And I’ll be honest too, your teams communication with the WvW community on these forums is absolutely horrendous compared to the other parts of the game. The only times that we ever see devs anymore is when it’s them coming in to defend actions they’ve done. It’s so bad that not even your PR team can even give a heads up when you delay/decide to not to do a WvW CDI that was supposed to come out a week after the end of WvW season 2.

1) WvW xp boosters – There needs to be an incentive for them. The ranks and abilities are nice but after you get so far there is nothing left to spend them on. To remedy this, and make those kinds of boosters more appealing, there needs a new WvW trait lines that don’t end but get progressively more expensive with rank points.. Things like a Gold Find %, MF %, etc. Also, it would help if there was a way to showcase your WvW rank to add more appeal.

2) Unique Commander Tags – By this I dont mean simply different colors, different color tags need to be in the game by default. Having different kinds of purchasable icons though, could be appealing. Ones like a dagger icon, Charr face icon, Quaggan face icon, guild emblem icon, basic symbols, cross bones, and so on.

3) Infinite Use Siege Reskin Potion – Simply different endless potions that give you a special buff for a few mins, that any siege site you throw down has a unique look to it corresponding to the potion. This doesn’t change the stats of the siege and it would still say if it’s reg or superior, it just looks different and might fire a different looking projectiles. The looks of the siege last until it despawns or is destroyed.

Something like this in terms of different looks.

Rally mechanic

They’d probably get rid of the stomps for points mechanic if they did this, which makes me think they’ll never take away down state in WvW. That said, I do feel like down state hurts the game in small scale stuff.

Maybe not the downed state but removing the ability to rally off deaths in WvW. Or alternatively, make it so there is a cap to the person who puts the most damage into an opponent can rally.

Ley Line Connection With Southsun?

Not sure if this idea has been brought up but might as well post it. When I was roaming around Southsun today I noticed the outside of the Karka Hive kind of reminded me of the Ley Line Hub from Dry Top. Granted, the Karka Hive has the weblike structures and doesn’t have as many small round depressions like the Ley Line Hub, but what if the Hive is a defunct Ley Line Hub or maybe pieces taken from one. The webs are obviously from the Karka while the depressions might have been lost through erosion from the sea.

My guess is it’ll be another feature pack.

When they were promoting the last one they said there was a problem with the way they did updates in Season 1 in that most people would fixate on one specific part of the update, which was almost always part of the Living Story, and practically ignore everything else. Which lead to complaints that they never added new features or fixed the ones they did have.

So they split it up. We had a feature pack with a lot of changes and new features but no new content, then Living Story updates with new content but no new/changed features. (And bug fixes in both.)

It would make sense for them to do another feature pack soon and it would give the Living Story team more time to work on the next round of releases.

Hopefully this isn’t the case. If they intend to group up new content for WvW and PvP and chuck it out every 6 or more months, then there is going to be a lot more issues than anything from their season 1 releases.

i just don’t see how adding a new wvw map, fixes the problems in wvw, I mean sure it gets you excited to see an update for the game mode, but then your back to same old drama. I was excited when eotm came out, tried it and instantly thought this is not game mode to enjoy even for casuals.

Honestly I think if they simply worked on some reskins of the bls and eb, rather than completely new maps, it could accomplish the near same result while still giving them room to work on the inner-working problems and adding more to the gameplay.

The solution is simple OP. Get everyone’s WvW guilds together and WIPE THE KARMA TRAINS!

That’s actually a great solution.
You can counter the entire worthless uplevels zerg with around 10 dedicated wvw people. Even condition spec works greatly in EOTM!

Also, it takes one well placed AC to drive back an entire EOTM zerg from the keep

Wiping uplevels is boring. You don’t even get much loot because they die so fast that you can barely tag them. The loot you do get is light and small loot bags a lot of the time. And if you wipe their zerg a few times, they just leave to find a better overflow or go pve.

If we were in it for the loot, we’d go to touch ourselves in dRy ToP or join a skip tazza SE p1 box farm party.

We’d do it to try and get Anet’s attention and to fight against the karma train mentality of the game.

Not everyone that goes there to fight/defend is there for a message to ANet though. For some it’s because of dead timezones or simply a change in scenery from the regular WvW maps.

At this rate...a big let down.

For me GW1 was a terrible game, and i would have never touched GW2 at all if it would have been just another GW1 with better graphics. And i now a lot people that also wouldn’t haved touched it and i have to convinced them telling them : no .. its NOT like GW1 .. its a real MMO.

Honestly T2 would be the best thing right now for TC. A lot of us have said such. Anyone not saying such is only kidding themselves at the current time.

T2 might be good for people going for map completion but not for the WvWers of TC. The whole point of being in T1 is that there are sizable fights most hours of the day, where as if you go to T2 there are more holes in coverage that will amount for boring PvD for those timezones.

OP, do you know how much warning we had for Fractals before they were introduced? None. Not a word. they came out of nowhere. No one expected them. No one thought they were coming. We were blown away.

Many of the updates in the game had no fanfare at all, and even the living story now gets a brief trailer 1 week before it comes out.

I hardly think that you not being told anything is indicative of no one working on anything.

Anet isn’t going to tell you or promise you anything, because they try things that might not work. And some people will tell you some of the stuff they try doesn’t work for them.

So before they announce anything, they work on stuff. Silently. In the background.

You won’t know it’s coming until it’s almost out. Which doesn’t mean it’s not being worked on.

We had warning of fractals, like 2 weeks before Colin said in a livestream they were adding a new zone and dungeon. People were blown away because they also dropped the ascended bomb…many people quit and they tarnished their public image. That was also only a few months after release so no doubt the warning time on content would be lower. Most of the time we have 1-2 weeks notice on major things, which is frankly poor communication. A lot of bad things they’ve implemented could have been stopped, changed, or put on hold had they given us the information long in advance. Although on the other hand when they do give us the info in advance(see the class balance preview) they still ignore 99.9% of logical criticisms.

Now keeping story content under wraps is one thing, but WvW is another. We knew about EotM long before it was officially released, it had to be beta-tested by selected guilds. WvW stuff needs tested thoroughly, us not knowing now means nothing is on the way for at least 3 months. The sad fact is ArenaNet has focused purely on LS and left WvW, SPvP, and dungeons to languish in stagnation.

Doesn’t change anything about what I said. The OP is suggesting none of this stuff is being worked on. If it was coming in 2 weeks, it would have been worked on for months. We simply wouldn’t hear about it.

That’s my point.

Actually no, this is not PvE content, this is pure competitive gameplay. In the past, ANet has generally been very apt about vague comments but at least nods that it’s being worked on like they have with Bloodlust, working on a solution to deal with people going into wvw to do finish achievements at the expense of the server, and so on.

But it goes beyond simply not giving the public some insight into the direction they’re going with their content. They are doing so without really looking into what the public likes or wants. Just take a look at the past four months in the wvw section. It’s been very bare on discussion with ANet’s PR personal, let alone the Devs.

The thing is though, condition based builds’ only drawback is that it can be cleansed or have it’s duration reduced. Condi doesn’t need power, precision, or ferocity and can instead go defensive with sets like carrion or dire that allow them to be strong tanks while being able to do massive damage through condition spam. And while I agree that classes like warrior shouldn’t be able to shed conditions the way it does, considering it’s movement capabilities and damage output, nerfing the minus duration % alone would only serve to buff condition based builds more.

It has come to the point that as WvW has not received real updates since launch that we ourselves would not mind doing the testing.

I can appreciate that many people don’t like EotM, but don’t conflate a lack of updates that you personally like with a lack of updates. WvW has added a great deal of content and rewards over just the last calendar year.

Hopefully you will find more you like in future updates and we’ll continue to add to the game.

Was pretty much the most recent thing ANet has had to say on EotM.

Honestly one of the simplest things ANet could do is show the slightest little inclination that they care about WvW and it’s community in the forums. For months now there has been virtually no contact between them and us on here beyond the copy past, “Please note that we do not allow Match-up threads on the Guild Wars 2 forum.” and it’s left a significant amount of the player-base without hope. But, with better communication with the players comes more ideas for enjoyable content to keep people playing and attract new players.

So posting posts that are critical of the complete lack of communication, development or any feedback on wvw won’t get us anywhere, which is why so few people bother to post anymore.

I dont think it’s that people have stopped reading as much as people have stopped replying. After almost 2 years worth of either being ignored or just getting copy paste responses back, a large portion of the player-base dont feel there is any use in taking about ways to improve the game when it will ultimately yield nothing.

My trap and trick ideas would be:

Remote Detonation Traps: The same traps that we currently have but with remote a remote detonation function. This would allow scouts to more efficiently hit their desired targets while lacking the luxury of auto-cast if they’re not paying attention.

Electro Magnetic Pulse(EMP) Trap: It’s been mentioned on a lot of forums and I think it could be good. Basically, it’s a trap that would only proc and work on golems and would basically stun a golem for a few seconds, 3-5sec imo and doesn’t stack with multiple trap procs. With this I think could be a good way to counter mass golem rushes so the defending side could have a little more time to respond.

Supply Pack Trick: Whenever you spend supply for this trick you get a pack that allows you to carry 50 additional supply. This pack functions like golems and costumes in that you have your own skillset while in them and can take them in water without it being dropped like if you were carrying siege. If you need to use your regular skills you can drop your pack with the skill that lets you drop it, but it becomes vulnerable to attack and has a despawn timer of 10mins while on the ground. The skills while carrying the pack would be stuff that is clunky and more short ranged focused fire so that the pack is encouraged for ninja like play, instead of a complete zerg carrying them.

Trapsweeper Trick: All traps that are within 1200 range when this is used are safely destroyed. With this, my idea is of a counter to the remote detonation and emp traps, so people have to play somewhat smart with their trap placement with certain groups. Also, this trick shows when it has destroyed traps but doesn’t let you see traps themselves.

Your question is a little vague tbh. Do you mean in terms of size of the zerg, consistency of a ktrain each day per week, or like what servers holds the highest regards to ktrains in terms of treating it as a special event?

Thats always been the problem with most people. My comment was directed at the first replying post and it was said in jest. The point of it is simply people would say can’t do it… people troll… done… move along… nothing to see here. My comment was simply to say, “well, intead of actually having a discussion, you are right ANET should do nothing which is was they are doing anyways.” Hope that helps :-)

As to the siege decay problem: any superior siege should have no limit, except rams. That is a great idea that i have seen posted. As to that, yes there will be trolls just like there will be bad pvpers in wvw. Can’t do anything about that, it will happen, but you can’t just not do anything because a few people are trying to ruin it.

That doesn’t solve the problem though. Trolls will merely upgrade or buy superior siege to troll with, superior ballistas being only about 13s on the tp right now. Until there is an efficient way to handle troll siege besides hopping the enemy servers happen to take it down when they’re attacking, a plan like this will be more detrimental than beneficial.

The problem isn’t whether they will do it or not, its whether this will be an actual fix for everyone or if people are going to be left out again like with season one.

This applies to the entire game actually. The rate of content, feature and bug fix releases is rather slow. But don’t mind me and continue believing WvW is “neglected” above all others.

You have to take things for what they are, not for what you wish they were. Fortunately there are no monthly fees and no gear treadmill either. Nothing prevents you from playing more than one game. Content will come when content comes.

At least anet is listening. Right? Right?

The rate at which new PvE content came out for season 1 was about every two weeks, the rate at which new WvW content came out was roughly about every month. In terms of what was added, PvE generally saw new/redesigned locations with new types of activities or events. WvW generally just got a new ability line.

So I guess the red posts specifically saying they are working on the issue isn’t enough for you? Faith is related to belief. I’m not a believer. I’m actually quite cynical as a person. But I’m also very patient.

They say they are working on it, why would they lie? They can just ignore this thread like countless others. No, they’re working on it and the fix will be deployed in a patch. Eventually.

Its funny how people go wild and “lose all hope” over a little bug. Its not like they disabled all of WvW for a few weeks.

Honestly, in my opinion, the only thing that really matters is the traits. While armor, weapons, trinkets and skills are very nice to include, the biggest headache is going through the traits.

With the stat pieces, build confusion generally isn’t too much of an issue if you have an efficient layout of your bags so that you can click through your desired combo. And with skills, they feel more situation based and being that there is only 5 slots to select for it’s not too much of a chore to just manually select them. Traits, on the other hand, are more tedious because you have to reapply the correct amount in each row and go through each roman numeral ability making sure you select the right one.

By focusing on just traits I think it would be a simpler and faster system to release while giving you a solid core to build off of and more time to devise a way to add your other suggestions later.

Imo they made a good call.
I know there’s a lot of PvE’rs kittening over this and since a lot of them were just in it for AP and skins, I couldn’t care less. You only had to farm EotM to get 10/10 meta and then you could just stroll back to PvE-land, so Imo you barely deserve a reward from a WvW tournament.

Anyways, it seems the most fair solution at this moment. Everybody gets access to “new content” at the same time, makes sense if you ask me. If you’re kitten, you’re a selfish, impatient kitten.

Elitist? No.
It’s just reality. I do not blame EVERY PvEr, some show decent interest, but I think we can say that a huge amount of PvErs are just in it for AP and the rewards. This doesn’t always have a positive effect since a lot of them are just rallybots and WvW “virgins” , though I admit there are those who really DO contribute. Untill the meta is over.

Also on reset day there were huge queues (on my server) just so numbskulled PvErs could get in the map and ask “Where’s the vendor pls?” and to find out that there wasn’t one yet. This way REAL WvWers couldn’t get in…

Call me an elitist all you want but it’s not as if PvErs care about how they affect WvW…

Yeah, you are being very elitist and frankly ignorant.

The vast majority of PvErs dont go into WvW thinking about only themselves, but instead go in there thinking about how they can do the things they need to do while still being helpful for their server. It’s only when people get spiteful or when not a single person decides to take take a second to just explain some things to them that they do things counterproductive.

Honestly I’ve seen a more toxic environment in EotM than the regular servers, though that might be server specific. Comments like “This commander is kittening trash”, “If you want to defend then you can go back to the borderlands”, or as a person posted a few hours ago in map chat “no our commander has torets or some kitten. He keeps pulling off and defending stuff”.
