Somethings I’ve noticed that might go better with a few tweaks.

- Improve golem strength against enemies on foot, one golem should easily be able to take out three enemies in a three vs one, I tried it….. You know they stand around 15 to 18ft tall that should count for something, plus they look like their made of metal not tissue.

- Less waypointing here, there, here it breaks from imersion is annoying.

- Make rams reusable if the enemy leaves rams at the gate, well using what is left there only stands to make more sense then destroying two just to build two more. If you can construction why can’t you deconstruct something?

- Better purchasable item with badges of honor, for the players who have thousands.

— Golems really shouldn’t have increased strength against players, they’re already really powerful. I’ve seen blobs completely wipe in hills to about 5 spinning golems.

— Less Waypointing sounds good, not because of immersion but because it could help with small man taking stuff and help force fights by making a zerg chose to either go through or around to get in.

— I don’t think rams should be reusable since there is not really a difficulty in getting them up and because you can’t really get rid of your own rams. So basically you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage with no real way of remedying that unless the enemies destroy them without paying attention.

— YES! Badges of honor should have reason to use them and purely them. The fact that WvWers have to sink so much gold into upgrading structures and the only really decent option for badges seems to be the exotic 80 gear — which also costs gold and can’t be salvaged or mystic forged — really is quite sad.

Second, GvG means Guild versus Guild. The extra kind of fluff stuff you’re trying to tack on doesn’t have a thing to do with it. As for it’s competitive nature and rward, it’s in becoming more coordinated with your guild/groups to overcome another coordinated guild/groups with the same numbers.

The “fluff stuff” he’s talking about is exactly the stuff that was part of GvG in the original Guild Wars, and part of what made GvG exciting, fun, and competitive. Clearly, you never played that format, or never played the original Guild Wars at all.

20 people on each side slamming into each other for 30 seconds of fighting is an abomination to the term “Guild vs Guild”. Good matches in GW1 would exceed 20 minutes of highly-coordinated spikes, maneuvers and defenses before one side won. Bad matches could still take up to 10 to win.

If you think this current, makeshift format is actually competitive and interesting, you’d crap yourself if you ever watched a real GvG, even one as bad as Bloodspike vs IWAY.

20 HoM points and almost 200 hours put into GW1. I’ve seen GvGs in the original Guild Wars and even though they’re interesting, this is not GW1. The mechanics of GW2 — like rallying, dodge rolls, verticality, and so on — make it so it’s difficult to recapture that same style.

Also, if you think that there is no competition in GvG’s then you’ve probably not seen ones by guilds that actually GvG seriously — which would make sense since most GvGs tend to be in the 15v15 range instead of 20s --. With serious GvG guilds there’s a lot of play and counter play, including “highly-coordinated spikes, maneuvers and defenses”. Groups need to watch positioning for bombs or ganking, build comps need to be balanced to work off each other, group’s need to be properly partied to ensure the most efficient boon/cleanse spread, people need to verbal to communicate cd’s on important skills or if they’re receiving focus fire and might need to be rezed/bannered, groups like pick need to be use to their group’s habit’s and skill rotations to effectively combo or support them, etc.

What happent to the old trusted windmale?
When os is full with gvg’s or trolls we always go to the windmale.
I still dont understand why there is no guild wars in guild wars.
If some guild want a gvg. They must waypoint first to a jumping puzzle….
in that jumping puzzle there is a tiny hall… if you walk true it, then suddenly there is big arena? And this arena is the place were guilds fight eachother…… ehmm yea
Not to mention that everyone can troll the gvg’s, wich happens allot.
Everyone is screaming nerf os! nerf the jp! What about giving us a legit gvg arena.
Maybe in the new expension?

The Windmill is still used sometimes but not as much because of the borderlands Bloodlust buff — making it a little more difficult to balance GvGs — and for common courtesy to keep que space reserved more for people actually trying to put up resistance.

FIRST of kittenING ALL, Obsidian Sanctum IS NOT an arena for "GvG"s. Obsidian Sanctum is a jumping puzzle where you can kill other players. End of. If you want to liken it to a PvP game mode it is more similar to Slayer or King of the Hill than anything else. You "GvG"ers are delusional and you disgust me. There is no such thing as GvG in this game and what you are doing is NOT GvG. There are no keeps or bases, no flag stand and no competitive plays. You stack buffs on a zerg (albeit ineffectively considering AoE in this game maxes at 5 targets) and then have at in on a completely flat surface. It is pointless, it is rewardless, and it is plain silly. The only reason ArenaNet ever added that warrantless “arena” was to stop whining from both sides- the WvWers complaining about the "GvG"ers out on the open map and the "GvG"ers for existing. Obsidian Sanctum was once lively and used properly and it is an absolute tragedy the state that it is in now- a large part of which was caused by the “GvG” community and the overall WvW community’s constant kittening.

First, you’re contradicting yourself. By saying, "The only reason ArenaNet ever added that warrantless “arena” was to stop whining from both sides-" you are acknowledging the fact that one of OS’s purposes is as an arena.

If it wasn’t for the GvGers then there wouldn’t be anyone in there consistently besides the random trolls that camp certain spots and people that haven’t done it before.

As a former frequent commander from SoR, no one has really gotten the answer right from the way I saw it. It wasn’t ZDS, it wasn’t because of some disagreement about throwing the match, and it wasn’t about season 1. Although the first season was the final straw, the problem happened long before it. It’s the game.

SoR was a server that clawed and fought its way up to 1st. There were guilds on there that were there since the start of the game and there were few WvW guilds that left SoR before it fell apart. We all put so much effort into making the server connected and the best that when we got there there wasn’t much left.

For quite a while there we maintained 1st by a sizable margin. In fact, I remember a week where we had BG garrison fully upgraded and held for most of the week. But because of this, it gets boring. So for a lot of commanders GW2 as a whole became less and less appealing without something to work towards. Without that sense of reoccurring competition and because guilds were fairly close with one another, commanders, including myself, started drifting away from the game.

By the time Season 1 started rolling around the people that came back to the game were faced with a tournament that just exacerbated the issues with WvW. After Season 1 was over the people that were extremely dissatisfied with GW2 went away/took a break again and the ones that were in timezones that were uneventful, decided to go to other servers where there was more competition for their guilds.

What is the current cap for wvw queue?

I think it should be around 85 since the cap was lowered by 15% and before it seemed to hold around 100 people of a single server.

It is a shame he is often being rewarded with negatively aggressive comments from the occasional poster. And folks wonder why they would want to avoid posting in this subforum.

That’s vastly incorrect. There has been more support and encouragement for this Dev than I’ve ever seen on the WvW forums. The posts that I see that are overly negative have been met with swift defense from other WvWers.

That being said, I want to say thank you to Stephen. The amount of solid communication you’ve shown in just these past few days has been what I’ve been yearning to see on the WvW section for quite literally years. ^u^

i wanna no from the DEV team how the system works
i stile dont get it this week am FR and again OG take over almost every part of the map

so far i read our commander OG had adleast so 100 players on the map -.-
vs our 30 players and BL had also so 30 players

but its always the same problem
when we see the OG zerg army then we better run but mostly we all die

It’s not really an exploit. There’s many, many places on the BLs, EB and EotM (but who cares about EotM) where seige can be placed in “locked zones”. All you have to do is stand outside the zone, where seige can be placed, and throw the seige back into the locked zone. There’s only a few places where this is actually useful because the range of seige throwing is only 1200, and this place in Citadel being one of them.

The seige itself is not invulnerable, and this treb can be cleared in a number of ways, some with counter seige (balli, counter treb, etc) and some with large aoe skills (meteor shower, necro ds4, etc). I’m not going to tell you how because if you can’t figure it out you deserve to be hit by it.

I don’t see it as an exploit because Anet could have simply just not allowed seige sites in these areas, like they do in some places where there is no LoS. If you go to the edge of the map and try to throw an AC up the cliff, it won’t let you, citing LoS even though it is in sight. They could have done that in Cit, but didn’t.

It’s a clever treb, placed in a clever position, but it has counters and can be taken out pretty easily. If it’s an exploit than things like ramming watergate on green EB keep, pocket cata on jerris or veloka, cliff cata on SW garri, etc are too.

But personally I see those things, as well as this, as clever use of game mechanics. I’ll ask Proheals what he thinks next time I see him online.

How is this not an exploit? The no siege zone was intentionally expanded to stop siege from being placed there and the only way to place it is to go to certain spots and chuck it in. As for counters, there aren’t really that many. The siege there can be placed into areas that anything besides ele meteor storm won’t hit and people up there will be able to pew pew you to their hearts content because of invuln.

Sorry for the late reply but thanks for the replies from both sides. I just wanted to clarify that I had no idea what the other commander colors were supposed to represent as when I played there only seemed to be blue (Or that was the only one that people used?) and the general idea was follow the group around. I checked the four WvW maps and they were the only one with a commander icon and they were linking waypoints in map chat so I jumped on that. I also did not know what Edge of the Mists was as this didn’t exist when I played either and I figured it was a form of structured pvp before today so I didn’t try going into it.

Anyways, I do still have an old level 80 Necromancer however it didn’t really feel like I was surviving more or doing any more damage than my engineer was. That characters in full exotics with full power / vitality / condition gear with 4/6/4/0/0 traits based around staff / scepter (I don’t know if this is the thing or not still (I’m assuming not)). I did try roaming a bit looking for small fights but anytime I ran into a ranger for example I generally got instantly dropped in 2-3 seconds before I had a chance to do much.

Condi dmg won’t work in zerging because they get cleared too fast and the reduction is reduced to nothing, take zerker/knights gear and use wells for damage. Don’t stay with the melee train you need to strafe out the outsides of the fight and keep out of the damage while bombing, positioning will determine whether you survive or not. Condi is strong on necro for roaming though.

Condi Necro actually does work in zerging, especially now with the stabo changes, but you have to be smart about it. A condi WvW Necro needs as much variance in condis as possible to help keep them all from being clensed. Namely you want to get a Sigil of Torment, blind well with the chilling darkness trait for the chill, and/or essentially anything else that applies aoe condis that you have less consistent access to.

This has been going on since release and no easy fix to many of these problems as “Play your way” Stopping spying? good luck with that.

Siege trolls report them as bots so a GM can come and look at the situation.

simply requiring a 30 refresh on claiming would solve 90% of the issues… can’t be that difficult to code in, and it is a lot worse now since $10 accounts…

I see some problems with a refresh timer though. One, is who’s going to have more time to camp that lord when the timer goes down? Commanders and scouts in that map that are going to be preoccupied with fights and running around and maintaining a structure, or the troll that is not taking WvW in that bl seriously and just there to mess with a server. Also, some fights go for well over 30mins with the lord not in a reasonable place to rez and reclaim. What happens there?

For the claiming, I think a better solution would be either allowing multiple guild to claim a structure or let a guild that has more/longer buffs active override a guild’s claim.

It’s because of the rally mechanic that have never been improved. Pre-80 are basically rally bots for all the kills an organized group will fight, and it often makes the difference between losing or winning a battle.

Rally mechanics have actually degraded since the leveling rewards/unlocks update made it so you don’t unlock downed state until level 5.

They need to update the Alpine map and give us 3 different borderland maps: EOTM, Alpine and Desert.

Then they can remove EOTM from the overflow karma train and repopulate the servers below tier 1 and 2.

That wouldnt be balanced imo. The reason is because its very easy take an hold an entire alpine map and forsake the other two alpine borders numbers wise. In lower tiers unlike higher tiers (if you guys still do this) each server holds their entire home border while higher tiers especially on reset hold their corner of each alpine map. The new desert border clearly makes it easy to defend your corner of the map with the topography, I think if they introduce all 3 the server who has alpine as their home border will have a huge advantage because the server with desert as their home will find it very difficult to take and hold the entire border.

That’s why they also need to change the scoring system… I think they should merge all servers into 3 alliances and have “overflows” of the 4 maps as campaigns you can guest on. The amount of campaigns would change every week according to the population during the previous week. If you guest to another campaign than your main campaign you contribute to their score but do not get WxP.

This is what ESO does and it works from a population perspective.

It may work for ESO but I only see this causing more harm than good for GW2. By merging the servers into the three colors and putting everyone in overflows you lose the sense of WvW comradery , create a make a messy situation when trying to coordinate with the different overflows and voice coms, and the sense of importance in taking and defending is diluted with the volume of copy&paste maps.

-Taking a sentry should cut supply-delivery. It does in EB, it should on the borders as well. That is one of the day 1 bugs in WvW or really counter-intuitive map-design that will hopefully not return for the new maps.

Sentries in eb don’t stop supply deliveries by themselves. The thing that stops them is the types of mobs that spawn , the mercenary units around, and the sentry’s proximity to towers.

The EB mobs are far superior to those in the bl — with things like harpies that spawn on Golanta to Aldons side have range and cripple meaning they can have further agro range and can pummel on a dolyak for longer, or ones like the krait between Danelon and QL that do mass conditions and cc --.

For the mercenary units, they can easily go in there and mob a doly down when they’re going into raiding a camp and, in the case of the dredge, provide a stationary stun turret that will pew the dolyak and allow for the random mobs to finish it off.

Lastly, the map itself has dolyaks staying in combat more in eb than the regular bls because of how close sentries are to towers and mob spawns, and keeping their health from resetting.

It was in one of the interviews or the POI/ready up videos that is on twitch. Basically they said that the desert map is replacing alpine and that the Alpine map might, and I stress might, return in the form of a special tournament or something like that, which I interpret as essentially never….

- Pseudo released open beta, to check stability, gain feedback from the whole community and actively improve / rework stuff in the first couple of months.
- Because the Alpine Borderland currently is a buggy mess, and would let a-net look bad to new customers.

Kinda confused about that one. During the time i’ve played the game (which is mostly WvW) i’ve never been stuck inside something once (except from Mesmer-Teleports, which did not have anything to do with the map itself), and i’ve never seen anyone use exploits within the EU Matchups i participated in – although i never tried finding any, so i guess there could be glitches into Towers/Keeps. What bugs are you referring to?

- Inner garry watergate does not scale with upgrades.
- the pathing of projectiles is broken for inner watergate as well, making you shoot the ground instead of hitting it.
- hills lord can bug out and prevent you from claiming the keep permanently.
- dollies will randomly refuse to walk to their designation and just camp in the camp.
- dolly-guards kill sentries.
- dollies without guards just walk trough sentries alive.
- siege can be placed in the siege-locked (and invulnerable) areas at spawn using certain camera-angles.
- the upgrade que in the event display can easily bug out, showing false info on ongoing (or finished) upgrades.
- there are still ways to break out of the map and attack players from below without using any 3rd party software.
- there are still ways to skip the walls of certain keeps/towers without using any 3rd party software.

Not all of these are bugs. Garrison WG is the same on each bl, Dolyaks stay in camps when you don’t own the structure they’re supposed to go to, sentries are bound to die to Dolyak guards since it’s 2v1 plus the sentry is bound to target the doly first since it’s usually ahead of the guards, and sentries aren’t really set up to kill dolys solo.

Where is your evidence that they do not transmit player feedback to the Arena Net Forum Communication Team?

I never once say that they don’t transmit player feedback. I merely find it concerning that I haven’t seen him active in the forums for a while now. Right now we’re in this build-up period to expansion and ANet is actually being more forward with their work into WvW. I just want to make sure that the players are being heard while there is still time to give ideas and feedback and potentially see some of them make it to release.

Because that would be horrible. OS Jo is supposed to be a JP that incorporates PvP as one of it’s obstacles. Beyond that , the whole reason the arena area was added to OS was to help appease GvGers and Duelers by giving them a place where they can do that outside of WVW maps and PvP.

Not trying to start a complain thread over the forum specialist stuff, but I was wondering what happened with our WvW forum specialist? Checking through the others it seems like they’ve all chimed in recently — Rising Dusk.2408 (Dungeons and Fractals): “about 6 hours ago”, Riku.4821 (PvE): “March 25th, 00:12”, The Gates Assassin.9827 (PvP): “March 26th, 04:10”, and Wolfey.3407 (PvP): “March 27th, 17:26” — but Marmatt.8590 hasn’t posted anything since the 26th of last month. Any new WvW reports or anything?

A little clarity:

Players that did this will not be actioned, as this farm was an unintended (but inevitable) side effect of the Obsidian Sanctum map. This “farming” was not an exploit, or against our Rules of Conduct. Our rules of conduct very specifically define what would be considered a violation:

“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”

Since Obsidian Sanctum does not impact the WvW results, “kill trading” is not against the rules for this map or mode, and thus this rule is not applicable. However, macroing/botting this would be (I’m watching you!).

This situation is very similar to a situation found in PvE where players continually fail an event to farm monsters. While not in the best interest of community and gameplay, the game itself lends itself to interpretation of what is allowed because of how event chains are setup.

Obviously when you put 3 server spawn points so close to each other, things are going to happen.

For now, until we fix OS…

I’m fine with this as long as whatever changes are implemented don’t mess with GvGs. Also, while you’re looking into potential changes to OS please look into making it an overflow only map like EotM. It would certainly help ramp up competition and give GvGers some love by allowing us to get more GvGs!

We’ve recently noted an increasing level of abuse of Obsidian Sanctum. To curtail undeserved rewards, the developers have temporarily disabled the looting of rewards from this area while they work on a more permanent fix.

Is there going to be PvE mobs that are capable of rallying enemies in this map?

Is there going to be any new reward activities in this map to make WvW actually profitable, especially for scouts and commanders?

Are the ruins and Bloodlust in this new map?

Will Badges of Honor actually have viable uses in the new map, like scouts and commanders using them to upgrade structures instead of having to spend the little gold they might end up making in WvW?

Is there anything new that’s going to be done in preparation of potential WvW lag issues caused by all the new graphical effects in the map?

Will the new map actually reward for map completion to replace the rewards you took away when you removed it from world completion?

Does the map have access to significant open field areas?

Are there any new upgrades to structures and camps?

Since keep lords have new abilities, do guards?

Can guards run some siege like they do in EotM?

Will the crafting stations be removed from the citadels in the new map?

Will the new map have event areas that don’t really contribute to WvW, like the centaur and skritt?

Are there any changes in the map on how guilds claim structures, how many can claim, or if guild claim is removed when a guild with more buffs claims it?

Incomplete meta, what kind of nonsense is that?

There is a complete meta it simply changed or better yet, it’s in the process of changing . After two years it’s no longer melee blob, haleluja we’re actually seeing something else for a change.

These hostile responses surprise me very little. Most players were Guardian and Warrior because they were the meta in the melee blob AKA hammer train. Of course they are none to pleased they have to change up their playstyle.

Can’t mix up a meta without kittening off the people who are on top of it.

Yes it is a incomplete meta since we’re having to wait for the Resistance buff to attempt to upset the difference with having non-sustainable melee. And of course we don’t have a melee blob anymore, it’s a Range Blob now!

So it’s your opinion against other people’s opinion then?

Because zerg tactics have never really been the apex of ingenuity. The GWEN meta was just press Stability, Press W in the direction of enemy blob, press 1 a lot.
And before that we had the whole stand densely packed on one spot, and press 1 a lot.

At least, after two years of the same meta, we’re seeing something change. And “quagmire’s” of defense sounds better than what meleetrain turned WvW into. A fight that doesn’t get decided within 20seconds might sound inconceivable to some.

So switching to a meta where people aren’t punished for dumping all their cc, rather than actually paying attention to a enemy’s boons and tactically using cc, is better? And you’d rather have this meta where melee is almost completely invalidated and groups spend the fight mostly playing pew-pew-pew, as opposed to one where both melee and range have warrant and fights were engaging and direct?

Queues speak for themselves. The ones waiting could easily be fighting in a lower tier.

“More action more of the time” as in being able to get on at a random hour and not having to worry about “oh it’s oc and the other servers have none, so let me rub my face against a door until my work scheduled gets back into playing na times where I can actually get fights”.

Dead timezones are not fun.

Question for hedix.1986: Is this Stability change in any way making it impossible for you to continue raiding in WvW, like you say that you enjoy, although with a slightly different approach to your engagements? E.g., you can spread out more, flank your enemies, use positional tactics such as higher ground and line of sight, focus your kills, clear your enemies Boons and use your crowd control on them after you bait out their Stun Breaks and defensive skills such as dodges—because you know, if you are spread out, their blob can only hit a small part of you, and that small part will likely fall, but meanwhile the rest of you get free pokes at them. And if you focus those pokes, you can bet they will see players fall, and fast. If you want no-thought PvP, why not just go to EotM? That’s practically a PvE map anyways.

I used to like WvW a whole lot. Then it turned into blob city. I fail to see what is fun with that way of playing, when you hardly feel like you contribute to anything but exploiting the AoE cap and helping to avoid damage by taking advantage of that flaw.

That is exactly what I don’t get about your whole argument.

This, all of it was in WvW before. This stabo change has not brought this. In fact, what this has done has caused this to happen less. Melee can not sustain. All they are there for now is purely to soak up damage and chuck out buffs/cleanses for range. The pre stability nerf combat was fast paced and more changing, while this is usually just pew pew range battles that favor the side with the more cc.

The only skilled play in WvW (as I see it), comes from roamers (that does it solo or at most as a group of five), and/or the harass/focus squads in the clashes who tactically select individual targets to take out, as they are seen as a threat, and who plays together as a team to accomplish this goal. The otherwise large majority of WvW players are rather terrible at PvP, and gets destroyed as soon as they are without their huge blob fortress of bodies. A roamer knows that, as do anyone from sPvP. You should rather ask yourself this; Why are you having issues with your Stability being stripped so quickly? Has it occured to you, that you may be doing something wrong?

That’s a fairly one-sided view you have. Roamers are generally prepared for being solo, or in small groups, while the “terrible WvW players” you’re refering to are usually speced for large groups. The fact that you kill people with your build that is going to be speced for more focus fire when compared to a person who will have their build tailored to be more group efficient means absolutely nothing on their skill level. Beyond that, generally the people that get in a situation where they are separated from their blob is because they died and are running back — indicating that individual might not be that good at the game or have a bad connection — or because they aren’t paying attention — indicating they may be preoccupied with something irl — .

To be honest, legendary already has a WvW part (badges) and a lot of WvWers themselves were complaining about PVEers doing map completion, because they would be taking up space on the map and not exactly contributing, making the side with more PVEers have a disadvantage.

The badges part is absolutely nothing. All you have to do for that is EotM and you can get the badges you need vastly faster than standard WvW. As for the complaints about PvEers, WvWers generally complain about the “taking up space on the map and not exactly contributing,” part. By that I mean that they’re in WvW spamming mapchat with demands of “take ____ I need the vista” and showing no consideration for what’s going on in the map or even willing to be in voice coms to work with the server. Not because they are trying for map completion, but just that those particular kinds of map completers aren’t seeking to contribute or look at things reasonably.

I don’t understand why anyone could be upset with this. Oh no! Now everyone has to do the same amount of work as …everyone! Just like before the patch.

The only thing that’s happening here is that ANET made it easier to get map completion. I play the game equal parts PvE, PvP, and WvW. No one is forcing you to play pure WvW or pure PvE or pure PvP, and if you do – that’s your problem. Stop whining and crying, nobody has more of an advantage than anyone else.

Except that you like all the content, where we find it repetitive, boring, and predictable. While WvW certainly can be any of those things it also has the potential to change and be interesting.

Now we have to spend the entire time working on map completion outside of what we find “fun”…

To add to that, the removal of the WvW map completion was at a cost for WvWers. Map completion was a pretty big thing that pulled people into trying out standard — non-EotM — WvW. And to make matters worse, it removed WvWers access to the map completion rewards to make the least rewarding of the three game modes even less rewarding.

If WvW map completion is no longer a requirement for a character to achieve World Completion, how about removing the four Sanctum jumping puzzles from the jumping puzzle achievement? I assume that the World Completion change was made because some players are not into WvW, and completing those maps can be very difficult at times doing it solo. The same is true though for the Sanctum jumping puzzles within WvW. So how about some consistency here?

Consistency here would be ANet removing pve map completion for WvWers or at least giving WvWers access to dungeon rewards in our game mode since they’re already available in PvE via dungeons and PvP via reward tracks.

Fix AC's or remove loot from Siege kills

As much as I despise the incessant use of siege for everything I really don’t want to see WvW have less rewards. It’s already the least rewarding of the three game modes and for the past year it’s been getting worse with the introduction of the death cooldown timer for rewards and the removal of the Map Completion rewards.

As for the update itself, it’s not just the camera that was poorly thought out. The whole entire patch was. For WvW, ever thing in the patch that effected it did so negatively. The stabo changes have killed the concept of melee and turned fights into pew pew wars and the removal of WvW Map Completion also removed the rewards for the sake of sating non-WvWers.

Beyond that, this update was filled with an insane amount of bugs and exploits that ranged from player characters saying stuff other player characters to people getting exclusive HoM rewards despite not having even played GW1. I mean, if this is the kind of update that is released after a week delay to fix it then i can only imagine the horrendous train wreck it was then.

Camera changes only put ppl on part with ppl who have more then one monitor. You could see far better if you have things set up such now any player can see nearly as well as the ppl who have this type of set up.

I don’t understand how having more than one monitor ever gave an advantage. I still see the game on the same single screen that I always have….

Something to do with window mode you could changes the “fov” so where you where super zoomed out. What ppl would call zoom hacking (all though it was not a hack and ppl as far as i know did not get banned over it).

Just because something is new doesn’t mean its good for wvw. Your response is basically a cop out. I mean if now everyone were to drink poisen instead of water your just saying hey its new lets see if the human body can adjust to that lol. I don’t think so.

Well ya that how humans kind of advices what seems like poison when you see other die such as mold on bread can become something that much better in the long run as ppl refined it. Its day one with crazy lag we seen some ranges only meta in that type of environment. That not saying much for time or environment to changes how ppl play.

A day is plenty of time to review this form of change. It’s not like this is patch is adding in new potential tactics or strategies, if anything it’s getting rid of them. It’s a flat out nerf to sustainability and the ability to push, turning melee into nothing more than a meat shield. There is no refining that when there is nothing new to work with. It’s just pew pew and hop to god you have more people and cc than the enemies.

Could anet please play WvW? Blobbing sucks.

So glad you’re enjoying it!

If someone is having difficulty downloading, consider completely closing the GW2 window and logging back in. If you have part of the download you will not start over, but merely pick up where you left off. I find this is helpful, at times, in getting a download to complete on what is (as I’m sure you can imagine) a very busy day for the servers.

I just want to make sure you and the development team know this, not everyone shares the OP’s sentiments about the update. I for one feel that you have done nothing in this patch but harm WvW. The unbalanced stabo changes have made fights nothing more than a complete joke where it’s significantly more difficult for a smaller organized force to actually zerg bust a unorganized pug zerg, you’ve needlessly taken the rewards from WvW map completion purely to sate non-WvWers, and you’ve basically given everyone access to eyefinity level field of view on AC’s compounding the siege wars issues.

Not happy with this patch, not one bit.

Wasent much but 1 transmute stone and some seige but still was something.

Yeah, can definitely confirm this since WvW now gets no reward whatsoever from WvW map completion, instead of them mearly removing it from world map completion. And so WvW’s bad reward structure gets even worse.

I have a hard time trusting some random post on reddit. If they do this, I think that when they add new legendaries, that some should be locked out unless they complete the WvW map.

I think its wrong to remove it in wvw for pve’ers who don’t like wvw, yet not remove from pve for wvw’ers who hate pve.

Beyond that, it’s taking a major form of incentive away from getting non-regular people into standard WvW and removing a way to get potential rewards from WvW. Granted they can be time consuming to get, but they’re still okay rewards nonetheless.

So according to the Chinese patch notes that were linked on Reddit, WvW was supposed to be taken from Map Completion requirements along with the rewards for WvW map completion.

Translation from Google:

“Wvw: World War Battle of the completion of the map of the world is no longer included in the overall degree of completion of the world, the world of the war no longer have a map complete map rewarded?.”

Say for instance, Garrison is being hit hard. You can port grab supply and port back when it becomes uncontested to repair/build siege… and there is nothing that the opposition can do to stop it.

They could kill you… that’s what my server does in this exact situation on a regular basis. Especially if you do something as ridiculous as “porting in” to a Garrison full of enemies; this leaves your entire force standing on a single spot, and depending on load-in times, you may be already dead before you even know what’s happening!

Yeah, if we’re talking about a lag situation where the timer isn’t functioning correctly and they’re already through inner. If they’re not then there is nothing stopping it. It’s not like a camp where the defenders would have to port a lot sooner to cover the time between the wp to the camp or that the attackers could send a person/havoc to flip and drain said camps.

I mean, unless you’ve got large ques on multiple maps, which is extremely rare, you can always just hop into EotM to grab the free supply there anyway, if your group is really getting “supply starved”. Having it at the Citadel with no chance to upgrade isn’t a really big advantage, since it doesn’t help with upgrades, and it requires you to always port back to spawn (far away from enemy keeps and towers) to get it, and it’s only available on one map. It’ really not some sort of game-changing mechanic.

On the contrary, the amount it gives along with the fact that it is right next to the wp means that it can be easily used for spike repairs or quick attacks.

Say for instance, Garrison is being hit hard. You can port grab supply and port back when it becomes uncontested to repair/build siege, or send a raiding party to supply up and try and recap some of the points they are using to attack from, and there is nothing that the opposition can do to stop it.

if PvE players can get the best gear without setting foot in WvW, then of course WvW players should be able to get the best gear without ever leaving WvW.

They still have to unlock the dungeon tracks by doing storymode which many just hate doing

Regardless though, it’s still giving a form of unlimited access after you do what’s required to unlock said track. You can then play PvP purely and not have to leave your preferred game mode if all you want is dungeon rewards or gear that’s from new living story content. For WvW it does not have this option. It’s either go to the other two game modes or deal with it.

Something else that ppl seem to be leaving out is that caster stab getting hit too things like armor of earth are long lasting stabs but very long cd so if you see mages and ranges get a boon from the stab changes as in being able to stop melee in there tracks then classes like thf and mez become very important and maybe more able to kill eles and necros and ranger. Maybe this is what the meta needs and we can get past this 4 classes over and over in a tarn.
I am thinking intrusion mez or power lock mez back line harassment is about to be a very good class build.

There’s a lot wrong with your assessment though. Eles aren’t hard to kill merely because of their stabo, it’s because they have a lot that allows them to get away. Cleanses, mistform, strong cc, and projectile reflection. Same can be said with Ranger. 1500 range that can arch to be longer, binding roots, reveal to mess up stealthies, charge with gs 3, blocks with gs 4, 6s immunity to direct damage with signet of stone, and a 3s stealth with only a 12s cooldown. As for Necros, they don’t really need to be “more able to kill”. Necros are generally the easiest targets to take down. They generally have very few stabos, few stun breaks, no/limited access to swiftness, and their deathshroud.

Here’s a screenshot I took this afternoon while playing in EOTM…
We were trying to defend our keep (blue) and we had the “pleasure” to see the green zerg use a zoom unlocker…
They built ACs outside the keep, and shoot inside. On the screen you can see the entire AC target circle is inside the walls.
They used these ACs to clean every defense weapon, targeting precisely even those one couldn’t see from outside. And no, they didn’t just shoot where you can see by looking above the door.

I thought we were rid of these kinds of cheats… I’ve been away for a few months, and while anticipating the next WvW season, I see big servers use these cheap tricks…
Why do we still have to deal with cheaters like this?

Zoom hacks were never stopped, just some particular programs were affected for a short while. In fact, I remember on my server enemies started using them again the night/morning after they “cracked down” on them.

I think my biggest concern with this is going to be commander sniping. It’s already becoming more and more common, but when you get the Rangers that were once pew pewing you using #4 and the Necros that were corrupting using deathshroud #3, the sniping seems like it could be even more deadlier.

I really hope so – getting quite bored.

I don’t think a March 3rd date is going to happen. For one, it’s only like 2 weeks off. And two, Spring Tournament last year started March 28th. If they do start another Tournament then I feel like they’ll probably try and at least give a month setup time before it starts so they can use it for advertising and they would probably try to keep a consistent time-frame to go with the “Spring”/“Fall” style they had last year.

Then again, considering the past tournaments have had significant issues and that expansion hype and maintenance is going on, they could just decide to change the tournaments into something else or change the date.
