Burning seems a bit strong. All other conditions are kitten and need boost.

Conditions are more than fine where they are at. If ANet were to make them stronger, then they would need to give more classes access to resistance and/or bring in more stats required to make conditions effective. It’s completely ludicrous to ask that power builds use gear with power, percision, and ferocity for max dmg potential while condition only really needs condition dmg in gear.

As a new player this is disappointing.

The point of it all was that you and many more are crying out that they did an illegal action. Now if you all are so confident that it is illegal then stop crying about it and sue them. I asked you to show me where they lie and use false advertisment and what some of you “showed” me was from the FAQ and I do not agree with you there so I am confident that you will loose that trial if you sue Anet.

I don’t have to be a lawyer to see that it was not an illegal act from Anet. I think that some people are just trying to find more arguments to justify their unhappiness with the price and/or the call that they give a free Original Copy for new players but nothing for existing players.

I beleave that they would have earned more money if they continued to sell the Original Copy of GW2 and the expansion seperatly. But i think that in their mind they was trying to be kind to future players and give them a free copy of the original copy of GW2. So assume they did this to milk some extra $ from the orginal game before they announced the pre-order infromation is just stupid in my opinion.

I have no reason to sue and didn’t even insinuate I was going to — I wasn’t one of the people they screwed over by telling them, since the announcment of HoT, they need to buy core game and then flip to say “f*** you, thanks for you $$$” LO L-- . You’re just complaining because you asked for someone to prove you wrong and we did. That being said, if someone that’s in that situation, like the OP, and wanted to take it to trial, then they’d probably be on good grounds to. As for if the payoff is worth going through a sizable trial against corporate lawyers, that’s another matter.

I would like to see where they lied and false advertised… Don’t bring up the FAQ since it is not an advertisement. Also it is still not a lie in the FAQ, as you need to have base GW2 to be able to play the expansion.

It all depends on if the official website could be considered as a form of advertisement. If it is, then it’s reasonable to believe the FAQ page is part of the advertisement. Also, false advertising doesn’t have to be an outright lie. In particular, misleading statements that omit key details the consumer should know, fall under the category of “Failure to Disclose” type of false advertising.

#1: Not really since it seems like wasted resources. If anything, I would rather see that effort on like exclusive skins or finishers that you can achieve in WvW. At least then you’d be able to show them off more, especially given that your hammer tends to clip into walls and siege sites you work on.

#2: Badges and maybe karma. There needs to be more options to use them on and WvW needs more rewards to strive for, besides titles that would take longer than some people’s lifespan.

I think it can be agreed that in general, tournaments are a sham — competition-wise. Winners are predetermined (unless you have a super short tournament like the last one where there was a first place and then pretty much everyone else tied for second).

But it seems people like the rewards and a change from the usual monotonous WvW. So why not just do a few “event” weeks where you can get some new achievements that lead you to those coveted tickets? You bring people into WvW and it’s not a sham competition.

Not to mention, event weeks could be a good way of testing ideas and changes people have proposed, much like no white swords and points per kill during the “sneak attack” event.

Allow custom head-pieces with outfits?

I feel like they’ll eventually do this actually. I mean, there’s already the option to hide your outfit’s head piece, so it doesn’t seem like a huge inconvenience to design it so it displays your armor piece instead. Also, GW1 had a system similar to this where your outfit was composed of a head slot (for just the head piece) and a body slot (for all the other parts). With this, you were able to display one or both slots, while displaying your normal armor skin(s) for whichever slot you chose to hide.

In any case, I would actually get the Crystal Nomad outfit and Arcane outfit if I could use the head without the body.

There is. For every object an AoE passes through, its power decreases. Take for example a rain of arrows. Sacrifice a few to create a shield, saving the many.

Basically it further unbalance the WvW experience.

Supply is critical, Yaks are not. Upgrade speed boost doesn’t mean anything when you know that as long as you bunkers a structure it doesn’t matter if Yaks get in or not, you’ll still get those upgrades in to repair everything eventually.

Yaks will speed up the upgrades. What this means is you need to ACTIVELY defend and patrol. No more just going out an zerging for the sake of it.

Also, people keep forgetting we will get the NEW WvW maps with this change, we won’t have the old maps.

Yes, the Yaks speed up the upgrade and that’s exactly why they aren’t critical. You do NOT need Yaks to finish upgrades. There is no reason to go out and recap Yaks while your structure is being attacked, when you can just sit in there and keep delaying the enemy until things get reset with the next upgrade.

Also, I don’t think people are forgetting there will be the new WvW map, it’s just that it doesn’t matter. These changes limit and remove strategies in WvW by default and that’s not going to change regardless of what map it’s in.

No.. We need good changes. Changes like these don’t add or alter, they mostly remove. The WP changes mean less movement to actually get fights that are outside the range of ungodly amounts of siege, the auto upgrades mean people can bunker and hold structures more easily without having to worry about dolys making it, and the auto upgrade changes remove potential tactics people could use with sniping dolys to help stop upgrades and ordering upgrades to drain camps to impede enemy zergs.

Then during the no-white-swords debacle, it was said that new features would be tested in WvW for short amounts of time. The result: no-white-swords ended up being the one and only such test.

Maybe it is because so many people complained about the TEST event even before it happened. Some players even said they were quitting because of this test event. I’m starting to see why anet doesn’t post much in this section. No matter what they try to do people will not be happy.

Oh look.. People were not happy with the test event and you are not happy because we don’t have any other test events..

That’s a complete joke. "No matter what they try to do people will not be happy. ", this goes for EVERY single area of the game. People were mad when they introduced Aetherpath and took out forward up, people were mad when introduced matchmaking, people are mad now with the LA changes. There will always be at least some people mad about changes in an MMO.

Besides that though, people were actually more happy about ANet testing stuff than they have been. Sure there was pessimistic views (like if if this theme of testing would merely be something ANet once then never does again and if this was actual testing or just making people comfortable with something that is going to happen regardless), but people DID, and still do, like ANet showing attention to WvWers. If you don’t believe me then look at the response to Stephen Clarke-Willson when he spent weeks there working actively with WvWers on the forums to fix lag issues.

It is morally fine, too. I have pity (actually not, it was their choice to waste so many hours on it) for the people who take pride in getting the achievement the long and tedious way.

The only waste I see is with your method. The Ultimate Dominator title is a very meager amount of AP and the title itself isn’t all that spectacular. The true reward of it is in growing as a WvWer and your experiences along the way. If you’re simply kill sharing for the ap then you’re being very inefficient and if you’re doing it for the epen then that just ends up making you look really petty.

Because those 1-2ppl are being efficient. Yaks can get in from more than one side depending on where they’re going and the rate of their travel can be quick depending on the camp’s location. So, why should a server that doesn’t have enough mind to send 1-2ppl to deal with the 1-2Yak snipers get to keep their upgrades rolling despite their sloppy gameplay.

If any thing after the update it may be harder to upgrade objectives in an active map. No more rushing WP or walls with added workers.

I feel that for the servers with dead timezones, they are going to be stuck in a position where they can’t do anything against enemies holding onto their garrisons and will just have to watch as it auto-upgrades. Then it’s a matter of waiting until “active” times and trying to recap a garrison that’s fully upgraded and sieged.

They are doing too much work though to stop a yak is a LOT easier then to def one. Every one can see a yak on the map its one of the most counter effect in the game but its a HARD counter when it should just be a soft counter. Killing yaks after the update will only work out to be a soft counter adding more time to the upgrade.

If its dead then its dead it would not changes any thing yak still get in and timers will still go off. Kind of a pointless argument to be made. I am talking about map that have ppl attking objectives and holding them. If you are under attk its only a matter of time befor the attker gets in at best your just holding the objective for ppt only. By adding a timer you put more presser on the attkers to get the objective. So no more 2hr long trebathones to get it and the def do not have to sit inside all day just to hold something.

On the contrary, you’re going to have to spend longer in a keep to keep opening walls and gates cause of upgrades and defenders will be staying inside longer because they have no pressure to leave and recap the camp. The only real reason for leaving now would be to either go get supply (which you can simply port before the timer resets and then port back in if it’s a wp keep) or to pressure the enemies in some way.

Remember that now you have an event that blasts a cannon and can destroy all enemy gates if they are not repaired.
So if you wake up to a fully dominated T3 map, get the event and go get all the map back.

Only certain gates will be able to be fully destroyed. Other gates will simply take significant damage which will be able to be easily repaired since supply won’t matter for upgrading.

Also, don’t forget that this isn’t like a Siegerazer event. It’s only active after every so many hours. So, an enemy server can easily just use the supply they’ve been stockpiling through the dead timezone to spike repair and not have to worry about another laser blast, or enemy servers can beat you in the event and use it against you.

This actually happened for a brief period of time a few years back in either t1 or t2. I was on SoR and after an impromptu mass kick from WvW everyone tried to rejoin and this happened. The people with names that say “Unknown” are from the other servers.

But yak-less upgrades are a real problem, I do not like at all that it’s possible under these changes to fully upgrade a keep without a single yak getting to it.

That’s the problem I have with this as well. A server that is being efficient with killing supply lines shouldn’t be penalized by allowing the enemies to continued upgrading.

Also, what’s going to happen for the servers that have bad coverage times? Are enemy servers just going to be able to keep a blob posted in an enemy garrison while the weaker coverage server is unable to even prevent it from upgrading because of this “auto-upgrade”?

This feels like it’s going to be a train wreck.

I have to admit… that is kind of sad. This is the official guild Wars 2 Forums, not reddit. This question was asked here over 2 hours ago. Yet the first place the Devs find out there was even a question is on another site… LOL

Probably because it is far easier to answer a reddit question on a phone or tablet while doing other work thing instead of constantly checking your PC in sub-forums on the GW2 website.

There is no need to “constantly” check through all the forums, because it’s not “sub forums”. It is one singular sub forum that people are going to respond to. And you know why, because it’s a major “WvW topic” that was just unveiled. This isn’t about “Living World”, this isn’t about “PvP”, this isn’t about “Lore”. It is about “WvW” and therefore it’s going to be talked about in the one and only “WvW” sub-forum.

I would love to see LA at least start to see repairs, but I’m not too confident that’s what’s going to be happening soon. If you look at the video around the 5s mark, you can still see the wooden path that cuts through the fallen pillar. It seems odd that even though all that debris was removed, the detour path would stay there with no variation. Beyond that, there’s a Vista that’s supposed to be there and I don’t see it anywhere in the video.

pretty sure ANET have noted the drop off due to players becoming bored .. hence the Portal grind for BETA access. It’s a pretty good way of keeping players logged in the wee bit longer and also provides a decent way of trying to ensure beta access is taken up by active players not names on a list that may not of played for months/years.

As for your notion that it lacks grind in GW2.. we must be playing different versions but I too enjoy the Living Story idea (moreso season 2 to be fair)

And they’ll probably notice more as people burn out trying for the “chance” at a portal. Better way would be to have that the drop any where in game, that way people could play what they want progress in what ever they wanted to do, over just doing the same map/events for the new week hoping they will be lucky enough, I have a feeling there will be a lot of kittened off people in a few days who wish they had spent the week doing something they wanted to do, I wonder how many players will burn out this week. I know I’m done with it. Id rather spend my time in game doing something I’ll enjoy than SW or DT. Not a fan of those maps at all.

Yeah, I would have at least liked to have seen ANet include an option in PvP and WvW for them.

So instead of players taking an active role to get a closed beta key, it is better for them to RNG emails from a list of potentially dead accounts? Access that could have gone to active players instead?

So instead of players from each of the 3 core game modes having potential access to the beta keys, it is better to omit PvPers and WvWers by having a steep RNG factor in only two PvE maps?

It’s beta may be PvE only, so that seems fitting. There was a full 24 hours of stronghold recently for everyone. There may be a WvW coming up as well.

It may be in a PvE map, but that doesn’t make it PvE only. There’s also —most likely--testing of the Revenant, UI, and potential changes to other classes.

Also, as you pointed out, everyone had access to the Stronghold. Even the first closed beta gave equal opportunity to unlock that privlage, without asking people to leave their core game mode. This Beta makes you solely grindPvE to potentially test it.

[Idea] RNG Outfits

Being a supporter of Anet’s Outfit skins and RNG system, I had the craziest idea for new content. What if Anet introduced some outfits that a chance to drop exclusively from PvE chests? We already have this by way of unique skins, such as Tequatl weapons, Wurm armor, and the retired Jetpack skin. The next step to this could be adding full outfits instead of just armor pieces.

I love outfits, because they’re not limited by armor weight class. My female charr Ranger is able to wear a super sexy light armor inspired Exemplar outfit. My human female Warrior can wear epic medium armor inspired Shadow Assassin outfit. Anet should consider bringing out more Outfits, such as a cheerleader type or Japanese school seifuku type, because variety is king.

On an economic note, such drops shouldn’t be lock by Account Bound limits. Allow them to be sold on the TP, so those who don’t like RNG can have the guaranteed* chance to get them buy purchasing from other players (*should they have the Gold available). Doing this gives the item value, thus making them more attractive to own or trade.

Sounds interesting but I have a concern with the “exclusively from PvE chests”. PvP and WvW should have access to it too.

I agree with a fair bit of what you had to say. One thing I would like to see in terms of reworks, is the the Adept line in Honor. Mace is good but specific while the other two don’t feel usefull. So it ends up feels like you’re picking the best out of a bad hand, rather than good compelling choices.

Badge of honor idea

I’m not too interested in server transfer rewards as much since I think I would rather see reworks to the transfer system itself, but some things I would like to see for Badges are;

  • Exotic Gear that can be salvaged – so WvWers can actually buy the gear and not worry about not being able to remove our runes and sigils.
  • Limited Time WvW Only Commander Tag – to give players that don’t have a tag something they can use to test if they like commanding before they commit to the 300g purchase
  • Box of WvW Supplies - cause it has some nice items you can get from it while still having rng so people aren’t just buying WvW xp flat out.
  • WvW XP% Booster/Buff – to give something to help people pursing certain abilities.
  • Various Bags of Crafting Mats – to help people trying to work towards making certain recipes and things.
  • Dungeon Rewards – since WvW is the only game mode that can’t get them through our game mode and to help people have better access to dungeon runes for their builds.
  • Temporary Holiday/Special Event Items – just so WvWers can have potential access to the limited stuff too when it’s out.
  • New Unique Skins – just to give some incentive to go into WvW and give some stuff to show off while not making the mistforge skins less special.
  • Guild Influence Consumables – to help smaller guilds in maintaining their guild buffs for WvW.
  • Something Like Metabolic and Utility Primer (but maybe not as long) – to help maintaining expensive food longer so commanders don’t need to drop it as much.
  • Ascalon Tonic (or something similar) – to help commanders since the prices have been going up on it.

Why does anyone even care?

Was anyone actually expecting a Forum Specialist to result in any actual changes?

To be honest, nobody is better than somebody, it saves us all from more of the “definitely something we’re looking at, can’t say more” nonsense.

Because this is the build up time towards expansion and ANet has more resources they can potentially use.

For a while now, we’ve mostly had this split team of people where some were working on updates and the others were working on background projects (ie. Heart of Thrones core stuff). Now that HoT’s out in the open and there is no real Living Story stuff going on, they’re together again.

It’s an opportune time to potentially see some of the things we’ve been striving to see worked on by the combined teams and actually make it to launch… if they are actually hearing from WvWers. And even if ANet doesn’t listen to the Forum Specialists, I still have more faith that at least some of the general ideas and opinions of WvWers will reach them from the people that ANet themselves chose to compile and consolidate it for them, than them going out of their way to scan the forums.

[stOP] were in there as well on account of the immense size and ppt focus JQ has that time of day. When you have 400 ppt with 2 or 3 map blobs already in WvW there isn’t a whole lot else you can do.

It happens all the time. If people just want to learn new characters, train the guild, practice movements and work on synergy. Sometimes people just want a break from WvW maps too.

Like Aquabat said OP. Some servers, or simply days of the week, are just dead and there’s not many options. Given the choice between a raid ktraining a dead timezone or fighting zergs that are mostly uplvls, then personally I would rather go for the fights.

Why don’t you guys post about your WvW achievement woes in the WvW section where it belongs. I don’t think Josh even has anything to do with the WvW achievements, I even know you guys already have a thread in that section so use it.

Because it’s like pulling teeth to get ANet to say anything in the WvW section. Even the WvW forum specialist hasn’t posted anything since Febuary.

-1 00 000x use a turret
-Kill 3 000 000 Great Jungle Wurm eggs before larvae hatch.
-Place 5 00 000 powder kegs at the base of the cobalt great jungle wurm
- Even kill achivs have 10 000 000 kills cap, not more…

That sounds more doable to me than some of the WvW achievements

Hopefully ANet might actually start looking at the achievements again since Josh Davis is making replies to some people talking about it in this thread. Unsurprisingly not in the WvW section of the forums…

Trying to achieve the Lavish Llama at the current rate would be, as someone aptly noted, madness! The good news is, next week will bring some concrete details on how you can start earning them at a much more rapid pace through participating in select tournaments.

Maybe Josh can take a look at the wvw achievements and fix those too…

you can blame Josh for a LOT of things, but don’t blame him for WvW or the rewards.

With that said, Weeks of busting your butts for rewards you can easily get by spending 5mins in Silverwaste.

On a serious note, can we actually have some feedback on the WvW achievements/reward system potentially being changed? It was brought up by a dev a long time back but hasn’t been heard about since. Plus, the WvW achievements issues have kind of been brought back to discussion with the Obsidian Sanctum Ultimate Dominator farming drama.

I don’t usually speak my mind on the internet for multiple reasons but I feel very strongly about this and haven’t found a similar thread on the forum so here it goes.

What is up with guilds in WvW maps tagging up and then pm’ing me it’s a closed raid?
Is this normal now? I experienced this twice in the last week after returning from a short break.

I’ve had multiple discussions with people on this subject where they defend these guilds because they play their own way and I should respect that but surely at the end of the day:

- It’s an world event map, not a guild event map. You might want to run it as such but it’s not designed to be.
- Your commander tag effects the entire map, not just your guild. Tag down if you want to play with a select group.
- Why? The closed raid groups I encountered were playing like any other zerg, who cares if people trying to enjoy the game and want to contribute to their server join in?

It felt really demotivating playing WvW after a zerg told me to get lost, and now it happened again. WvW has been re-branded to roaming 90% of the time now?

How do you guys on the forum feel about this?

Generally guilds run guild only raids with a tag up because it makes it easier to see the driver, allows pick groups to use their targeting to better coordinate with their party, and to help show other commanders on the map where they’re at.

As for why, it’s a matter of trying to improve a guild’s skill level. Like most areas of GW2, difficulty and coordination detract as your numbers go up. You’ve got more people to add in random damage, and aoe cap means they soak up more of that damage. Then you get things like random people dying and rally enemies because they aren’t calling that they’re low/down, people throwing down the wrong fields when restacking for might or heals, people blowing cover on an attempted sneak hit, people scaring off fights cause they’re commander snipping in fights that don’t call it, and so on.

Ultimately though, try not to let it get to you. Guilds generally start doing Guild only raids as it gets closer to reset, and the week’s match gets decided. Also, try checking your server’s voice coms. Some guilds will do tagless and guild runs but don’t mind if people join, as long as they’re in coms.

Immobilize in itself I feel is fine, especially since they’re going to be bringing in the resistance boon, but the bugs with it need to be fixed. Like mid air immob that doesn’t let you use any skills, outside of like shouts, is really broken. Also the more skill specific immob problems with entangling roots, where range attacks have difficulties in hitting the roots, could use some tweaking too.

Changes to Walls — I agree that siege shouldn’t be able to be placed on really insane spots like hanging off the corners of walls where the only thing that hit them are Staff 5 on Ele fire attunement or AC’s, but I think this is a double edge sword. Some spots for counter siege, especially around hills, can be in really sketchy places so that it might be difficult to de-siege really bunkered up places.

Changes to doors/gates — Not really sure what you meant here.

Changes to landscape — I agree with this. Mendon is kind of like how QL used to be in terms of how much access enemies have to aoeing siege from the outside, so it could probably use a little tweeking to put it in line with the other towers.

Changes to siege — I don’t like the sound of this. Messing with LoS seems like it could hurt small man more than the larger groups. I think an alternative would maybe be finding a way to factor in the verticle plane into the distance so if you’re firing over gates and walls then maybe it cuts down your total range.

Changes to policy — I think most everyone would like to see this but it’s not really a matter of policy. It’s more a matter of just active monitoring and following through with punishments. They could do with better in game reporting and maybe a little wider range of options to report for.

It’s a title.

X amount of kills grants the title.

People want this title so they found an easy way to get it. This easy way, from my point of view, is legit.

At the end of the day it’s just a title and what seems like a very minute amount of APs for such an immense amount of kills which can be hastened by participating in this ‘easier’ method of obtaining kills.

By that logic then there should be a valid option to farm Dragon rank in PvP without worrying about people fighting back, not have to do all dungeon instances for Dungeon Master, or make a way to get the Been There Done That without doing world completion. What it rewards you with physically makes no difference whatsoever when the fact is Ultimate Dominator is a matter of prestige. Because of the EotM 24/7 ktrain, virtually most all prestigious aspects of WvW have been watered down to the point that badges and WvW ranks don’t matter. The only forms of prestige people really seem to have any more are either recognition on a server(s) and the hard to reach titles, like Ultimate Dominator.

Because it’s lame. It’s against the spirit of the achievement, sadly people just see pixels and numbers and get lost in a game. It devalues actual players’ time and effort they spent getting the title. Literally no point to do it unless you’re that desperate for another title or a miniscule amount of irrelevant achievement points.

People could just wait until your next post whining about how an item or something else you own is devalued again and then spam this thread link for the irony. I think you cried about the monkey king tonic or mini.

This so much. It’s one of the very few rewards in WvW and it’s being trivialized into another farm for acheivments.

Bug exploits are bug exploits. It’s a reportable offense IMO. As Miku, said he’s taking advantage of something that shouldn’t be there.

I honestly can’t see any form of action being taken on this. If ANet wasn’t going to take action on mass amounts of people farming WvWers’ Ultimate Dominator in OS, I don’t think they’ll go through all the work to stop a minute amount of people that have and are wearing this.

After playing around with the dalies for a while now the ones I’d like to see changed are event completer and WvW veteran slayer. Event completer just makes it so it’s much more stressful doing events in specific maps since it usually devolves into annoying Zerg tag spams and events bugging because of the mad amount of people spamming. WvW Veteran Slayer serves no benefit for the server and can actually be detrimental when randoms start spamming the wurm when you’re trying to attack Bay quietly. A suggestion would be to change Event Completer to be over the whole section of the world it corresponds to like it used to be and change veteran slayer to a specific defense location like tower, keep, or camp.

I honestly don’t want to see this game on other platforms simply because of the console specific issues. This game as a PC only game already sees a significant amount of problems that, in some cases, take a long time to fix. If we were to bring in PS4 and XBOne into the mix then there is just going to be more issues to go through. Also, this isn’t even factoring things like the legal paperwork side of thing for releases on consoles and that ANet would probably have to work in events to catch console players up like what was done with China release.
