Sabetha wasn’t that scary imho. She was in it just for profit. People would do ANYTHING to make money so nothing surprised me there.
What scared me the most during my time in GW2 is Bria for sure.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bria
and the other three groups have just been studying it and its properties rather than tampering with the ley lines’ overflowing magic.
I’m surprised that the Inquest haven’t tampered with it yet.
And why exactly aren’t they joining the fight? If the whole known world is in danger? Was there any reason other than “We are not under attack in Dominion of Winds so we are cool with Elder Dragons.”
Is it known if Mordremoths influenced reached the Dominion of Winds or are ley lines going haywire there as well?
It’s entirely possible Forsaken Thicket lore will seep into LS3 too, considering the hints in Wing 3.
I could be wrong here, someone correct me if I am. From what I heard (was it from WP?) they said that Raid lore will not seep into LS3. Nothing even remotely will be mentioned about White Mantle outside of the raids. The whole story is now on pause cause the first raid is finished and it won’t continue until they decide to pick it up again.
It could be helpful to stop posting here if you need more kills for LI and start raiding a bit more.
But what if I cleared all wings on Monday and now I have 6 days to post here?
Well one thing I don’t know is why we are even fighting the ley line anomalies?
Mystic Coins
I’m more interested in the plant back item that the Anomaly has. It’s related to nature obviously. But to what kind of nature? Mordremoth? Or just default nature.
I’d actually be happier if they updated the Hall of Monuments ‘vendor’ with some new items.
How many elder dragons need to die before the Tengu stop afking in Dominion of Winds?
The only thing that can motivate/force them to join the fight is if something terrible happens to their sanctuary. Maybe the Deep Sea dragon will cause trouble for them? I still remember that giant Hydra wallpaper we had before HoT was released. Could be an attack on them?
I remember seeing some Tengu in Auric Basin near Tarir. Something about a vault, but I can’t recall if it ever had a meaning later.
Maybe the Tengu have a solution to the current Anomaly problem we are facing right now and they become important in LS3…
None of these have an answer yet, I know. I just want to see what people thing of Tengu right now.

No. The Mystic Forge is useful in WvW for crafting superior siege.
Remove bank, mystic forge, vendors and pretty much everything that has a permanent/endless item. You wan’t to Mystic Forge in WvWvW? Buy a Mystic Forge conduit, simple as that.
/sarcasmoff
The Shatterer is just a title. Not a name for a dragon. So yes, there can be multiple Shatterers.
Well, by lore only one Shatterer is present at any given time, hence “multiple Shatterers” isn’t a thing.
One could argue that the dragons we see in Blazeridge are just “Shatterer-sized” yet only one of them actually carries the title.
You are correct actually. Only one Shatterer at any given time. When he dies the title moves on to the next one. Who or how I’m not sure was ever explained?
Does the title itself give them some kind of power up or change physically? Or do they all look the same. I remember those dragons from the end of the personal story. So many dragons that look like Tequatl.
There are two things I hate about this fractal.
1. The shields don’t respawn
2. Platforms being transparent makes me blind every time I do the Anomaly. That lightning thingy under the boss is too bright and makes it hard to see anything.
Seems a bit odd to me as well. No idea why they’d do something like this. Dulfy to the rescue as usual though.
The Shatterer is just a title. Not a name for a dragon. So yes, there can be multiple Shatterers.
I also vote for the vendor to be back for a limited time. Now everyone is aware of the change. They will use it well.
I don’t really care that this changed. But I am angry that I wasn’t aware of their ‘warning’.
Now I have a few thousand Badges of Honor that I was keeping for Gifts of Battle that I can no longer buy.
I can’t even describe how dumb this is. The same thing happened back in the day with the Karma consumable change and how the boosters and other items affected it. They reverted their change for a few days so that people can use their Karma before the change goes permanent.
I honestly hope they bring back the vendor for a day or a few and let people who weren’t aware of this to use their Badges of Honor.
If not well… no more legendary weapons for me since I hate the WvWvW. The only reason why I have so many badges is thanks to those WvWvW seasons that happend a while back.
Maybe because some people used it a lot to spam the map, they were so large that when you started to ping rapidly other people could no longer see the map.
If I remember correctly some people used this somehow to confuse players in PvP. A few times I came into a match where I could no longer see my map at all from the infinite spam of those red pings.
I wish they gave us a way to change the keybind for that option though. I don’t want it to be shift.
You are missing the point here. Thief damage is high, that is correct. But he offers nothing for the rest of the group. Thief is a selfish class as it stands now.
And Vale Guardian is doable with exotic gear, so any class may be accepted here. I’d like to see how you do as a thief on Gorseval. With all your single target damage skills.
Don’t get offended (cause many do), but organize your own group, do it your self.
Exactly this. I am in a casual guild that invites ANYONE. I tried a few raids with the people there and figured that it won’t really happen. Not everyone can raid. That’s a fact.
So I started with LFG, most of the people I found on LFG were terrible, but you find one or two players here and there that are actually good. So I made a new guild only for raiders. Invited all the people I found reliable and useful to the guild. In a week the guild reached a decent amount of people. Last weekened I grouped 9 people from the guild, we wen’t Vale Guardian and downed him after a few tries.
So yeah, instead of complaining, start doing something on your own. Dedicate yourself to the raids if you want them done, don’t be a leech.
I also never understood the part where vendor items that require some other currency rather than gold, also require gold. That part is just beyond me, but oh well, if it wasn’t changed for any other vendor in the game that has this it won’t change in the raid either.
And that is a problem because…?
Because it nullifies the challenge of the encounter and forces it to be balanced around maximum defense, which does nothing but force everyone to use defensive gear and slow down the fights considerably.
So what if it forces people to use defensive builds? People who like to tank and spank should be able to do it, hardcore people who like to be full glass cannon and do it as fast as possible should be able to do it without the timer on it as well.
You say that it would force people to use the defensive gear and slow down the fights, this way you force people to use the most offensive gear and make the fights super quick.
Nullifies the challenge? You mean the fake difficulty introduced with the timer? I guess our points of view for the word challenge have different meaning.
Selling a dungeon or a raid is not bannable, why would it be? What is your reason to ban someone like that?
Considering the OP just posted this to whine, probably wanted some more cheese with the whine he is having, and never came back. I’ll just say that this sounds like a learn to play issue.
The waiting is always there. Even when I play with my 9 friends you still have to wait a lot, take breaks very often. Cause out of 10 people someone will always have to go do something at some time. And this will always be an issue, unless you find 9 people to raid with you who have no life and only play the game without any interruptions.
As a person who killed the Vale Guardian (cause I do have friends who play DPS builds primarily) I also agree that the timer is just a bit silly.
The timer is not an issue if you have 8/9 skilled DPS players at all, but it still kills the point of fighting the mechanics, it’s just a simple race around the timer type of a thing.
Update to the blind thing that I asked. Blind definitely affects the breakbar.
Tested last night when I killed it using the strategy of ‘leaving the breakbar’. Necro accidentally used a dark field and everyone blasted into it adding a lot of blind to the boss which resulted in breakbar dying way too fast.
I haven’t even noticed any of these. Will have to pay close attention to it the next time I do it.
This is a great guide, I love it!
Will help people still struggling with the boss for sure.
I have two questions though. Are you sure the boss goes for armor and not toughess?
Since I’m a chrono tank, and the boss always follows me, and I’m sure I have less armor then a guardian or a herald who is present in the group.
Also does blind work on breakbars?
And one more thing, there is a mechanic to keep the boss in the breakbar mode in the middle and just rotate around him in melee range and dps him. I know you covered that a bit in the guide but only as a precaution if the danger zone catches up to you.
There are some people who are aiming for this to make it easier. The leave him on purpose in the breakbar state and just go around him and burn him down. Saves a lot of time.
I also think this should be a thing. But as an option. Players who are not interested can mute a commander or simply disable the whole thing.
Apparently you can tank Vale Guardian with a chronomancer
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3tfnsz/hex_friends_vale_guardian_kill_626min/
Gotta try this one. Good team comp though as well.
Most of my characters have 60 slots
20 slot bag + 4×10 slot bags (basic, trash, crafting, invisible)
my ‘Main’ has max slotsIf I want to play for more than an hour in the new maps I feel like I have to be on my main.
There are too many “key” type items you need to have.
- Silverwaste shovels, Bandit Keys, Greater Nightmare, Essence of Nightmare, Zerpherite lockpick, Bandit Skeleton Key (Silverwastes / Drytop)
- Pact Crowbar, Auric Key, Vial of Chak Acid, Machetes, Rata Novus Writ (HoT Maps)
- Mawdrey II, Herta, Princess (Ascended eaters)
- Food/Tuning Crystals
- Copper/Silver salvage (or plenty of basic kits)
- Unlimited gathering tools (or extra stacks of non-unlimited)
Now add to that all the variety of non-stacking container types which drop on new maps… and I just feel bogged down without really investing in bags for EVERY character to be playable. And even if I do now I’m constantly dragging things from one to another so they aren’t each carting around partial stacks.
tl;dr … we need a keyring. If it’s something which is used/gathered to open a chest, it should be stowed/account bound like dungeon tokens.
We’ll probably have to wait till the next expansion for SOME of those to go into the account wallet or something. Not all though, would be too good to be true.
Healing prism and signet part of illusionary inspiration have CDs, thus no distortion spam through phantasm casts and no heal spam through shatters probably.
Illusions line with with lesser shatters CDs mb better for distortions wells spam.
I figured they had some internal cooldown, was too good to be true. What is the cooldown though? Is it so long that it makes this whole thing completely useless?
Time Warp is still the best elite utility to take for raids. Especially with rage timers, you’re going to need maximum DPS for now.
I am well aware of that. But usually in pug groups there are always at least two mesmers, I figured one using Time Warp with Continuum Split was enough.
Endless tonics need a deposit slot of some sorts :P That would help me A LOT xD
Greetings fellow mesmers, I was playing around with the builder and made something that I am interested in trying for raids (at least Vale Guardian) when I get back home tonight.
I see there are a lot of condie mesmer builds poping up here and there so I wanted to try something a bit different. Not really sure if it’s viable or even useful in raids so I’d like your feedback.
Last night I played a bit with something similar and it worked rather fine.
So any feedback if you tried this, thoughts on what you think is not needed or needs to change and such is more than welcome.
This is the build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAR8ensIC1fi9pB+fCMrhlUj6cIaiqjcAKhAoeZr2rF-TBCBABVq+zZKBxS5HAHEg80NQxFAwp9HC4JAQIAzLAA-e
So let me explain what was the plan behind some of these things (some might require confirmation if something I thought can even happen and such). The idea of this build is to soak up as much damage as possible (for everyone), some self sustain abilities while still doing a lot of raw damage and still taking down those breakbars very easy.
I’ll start with traits.
Domination – Imagined Burden
Decided to go with this instead of Mental Anguish since I’m using a greatsword at Vale Guardian pretty much the whole time. One of the reasons is cause I’m in the group that goes inside the green circles. Might is always welcome, Cripple on the boss is somewhat helpful I believe and overall less cooldowns on the greatsword is awesome. Also the synergy with Illusionary Inspiration is rather nice to share that might a bit (and all other boons) with your allies, but we’ll get to that later.
Inspiration – Medic’s Feedback
From what I’ve noticed reflection is not really useful at all at Vale Guardian, but a quicker revive of a downed ally can be a game changer, especially in green circles.
Restorative Illusions, Healing Prism and Illusionary Inspiration
These three together work very nicely. When you shatter you get healed up, your allies also get healed up, summoning phatasms also gives your allies regeneration and casts a Signet of Inspiration (plus distortion). Also when you shatter you get Alacrity, and phatasms are also resummoned (Chronophantasma) which is all sorts of goodness all over the place.
Now for the main thing, all of those distortions.
Let’s start with Blurred Inscriptions, gain distortion on signet use and 20% cooldowns on all signets, pretty standard.
Now combine that with Inspiring Distortion and Illusionary Inspiration and each time you use the Signet of the Ether (also heals allies cause of the Healing Prism), F4, Signet of Humility or even summon a phatasm (casts another Signet cause of Illusionary Inspiration) everyone around you evades all attacks. Which is good not only for the green circle stacking but in so many other scenarios during this raid boss fight.
Also add to this whole combo the Well of Precognition with Mimic and Continuum Split.
Granted you are not an Alacrity bot with constant uptime of it but you still have a good amount of it so you can do this whole thing almost all the time.
When it comes to weapons I decided to take the shield as an offhand. Nothing really special about that choice though. The block is nice in times of need. Good to clear some of those annoying whisps that fly around, also summons a phantasm. Tides of Time is also a good against breakbars.
So, why Signet of Humility when you can use Time Warp or even Well of Gravity(which are all awesome skills)?
Well simply because of the whole signet thing. It’s one more signet that gives aoe evasion to your allies. The cooldown on it is reduced. And from what I’ve gathered it breaks the breakbar instantly.
The issue that I’ve found when Vale Guardian goes into his third phase where you have to move from pizza slice to pizza slice while he goes into his AoE spam state is that I always find myself in a green circle far away from him when he starts to AoE spam. Illusionary Wave and Tides of Time simply don’t have the needed rage for me to help with the breakbar when he starts doing that. The Signet of Humility has a huge range, also gives evasion to everyone near me when he starts to spam his AoE and apparently breaks the bar fully.
Is that a good reason to equip it over Time Warp? I’ll let you guys decide.
I need to check if distortion spam from me and Well of Precognition help with the blue circles that he uses that teleport you away. I normally use those on allies that are with me in the green circle if we are surrounded by the red orbs but once I used it at the boss and people who where melee didn’t get ported away when they were standing in the Well of Precognition, but not sure if it was from that. Need to check.
Weapons, Armors and Accessories are full berzerker obviously cause I go for the raw dps role in raids. I haven’t found it that hard to stay alive at this boss, since I have a decent amount of self sustain from all the heals, regens and evasions. With 1 proper dedicated healer/supporter in the party it gets a lot easier.
Sigils and Runes are just a placeholder at the moment. At first I thought that Daze duration from the runes means that the daze you inflict lowers the breakbar more, but apparently that’s not the case.
Sigil of Blood and Omnomberry Ghost help with self healing very nicely, but with a druid in a squad they are not needed at all I believe. Use the food and the sigil of your choice. Maybe another sigil of accuracy and +100 power and +70 ferocity food?
Inspiration – Mental Defense was also in play for a bit, shield block and all these evades will summon that defended very often but I don’t think he is that useful. Compared to things that Illusionary Inspiration offers at least.
So yeah… that’s pretty much it. What are your thoughts? This is my first build post (also not tested yet cause I’m not home sadly) so please offer any feedback that you can. What runes do you use, what sigils, are there better trait synergies than these, are some useless in the raid and stuff like that.
Like with many MF options I’d change the order of putiing them in, 1st do the upgrade thing, then the ring then the other stuff. or do ’m second and third…
I had the same problem as well when I wanted to upgrade my sinister rings and I gotit done without a problem, make sure you buy some extractors first (1 per ring so you can remove the AR thingy) else they are gone! also remember if you wan to upgrade your ring’s agony you have full opportunity to do so, of to change infusions from char to char…
You don’t understand the issue here. AFAIK Sinister was added after Fractured (I may be wrong).
ALL rings before Fractured patch worked differently, and those ones can’t be Mystic Forged.
Even if you remove the infusions from them they will still be there when you link the ring in chat. That’s how old rings worked. The Forge probably reads them as well as rings that have an infusion inside and doesn’t want to accept them.
Congrats. Will have to get in contact with those mesmers to ask them for their build and such. Especially that DPS one. I see a lot of condie mesmer threads appear in the mesmer forum section.
I’ll only go condie if a DPS mesmer is only a burden at some point.
They should add a raid finger like in WoW.
As far as i remember, they said NO to a Raid Finder and YES to a LFG Category for Raids
You are correct. There will be no Raid Finder. They don’t want the majority of players (casual players) to be all over raids, cause it’s simply not meant for them.
Apparently only those who are interested in raids will find a raid related guild or something.
But I do agree, the LFG tool is horrid as it is now and needs a revamp.
Never heard of a theif.
So, you only have one character maxed out to 80? One ‘Theif’?
And you don’t feel like leveling something else and gearing it up?
Well that’s your core problem I’d say. ANet did state that they don’t want casuals to complete raids, like, ever.
And considering you only play your main and nothing else…
Not a fan of enrage timers myself either, it does introduce the fake difficulty but oh well. In time people will find the best comps to do raids/individual encounters and I think the timers won’t even be an issue then.
Tier 1 for Kraitkin almost costs you more than the precursor itself from the TP.
But oh well.
Yeah… I won’t be deleting my rings until I get a comfirmation that someone actually did get a WORKING replacement.
But yeah.. that is very laughable and sad at the same time, Guenselmann.
Like it was said before, pre-fractured rings won’t work. Cause even if you do remove the influsions, link the ring in some chat, guild or say, and put your cursor on it. You will see that the ring you linked HAS a +5 agony resistance infusion. That’s how rings worked pre-fractured.
You are kidding right? The plasma weapons are super ugly. Incineratr is actually good looking.
This issue is known already. It’s because those rings are from pre-fractured patch. I also have two of pre-fractured patch rings that now I can’t attune.
I thought I’d wait for the raid patch, maybe they’ll fix it then.
But if the solution is to delete them and get a replacement I’ll have to file a ticket too then.
The achievement is only rewarded if you kill those 3 champions of Mordremoth in the last phase of Dragons Stand event.
I got the other 2 but never Diarmid. I also killed her at the start of her lane when the whole meta starts and still no achievement.
Not a very interesting topic but I have to share.
You know how when your net crashes your skills don’t work, people run into walls etc etc?
Well I was standing on the spinning Helix in Dragon’s Stand and my net farted, and before I got kicked out of the client I noticed that the rotating helix I was standing on completely stopped. Went all “Out of order” on me
Peculiar that it requires internet connection to spin
It finally spawned. After 5 days of almost constant waiting, just chilling in the area while talking to guildies or stuff.
- Bit into herb and rip it out with your teeth.
Turns to a bartender
I’ll have what he’s having
For Untethered, I did exactly that because the Dulfy guide said the same thing. Walked up one side, killed all the mobs and walls without getting hit by either vines or mobs. Glided down, repeated for the other side, still no luck. I don’t know if it erroneously counts pets as getting hit?
I still haven’t tried this but I’m screwed if it does count pets since I’m a mesmer. Oh well. I’ll just ask a friend to clear it for me and then I’ll walk up.
