If you don’t want people farming in this game please nerf them all the farming spots and not just everything but CoF.
Honestly, you nerf and destroy every other farming spot and leave this in the game. What are the professions that are not Warrior and Mesmer supposed to do for money? You nerf the farming spots all of us have access to, and leave this in the game. I literally have access to no ways to really make money, yet my friend who just happened to pick a mesmer just now found about speed runs and proceeds to rub in my face the gold he makes a day.
All I ask is that if you nerf farming spots you nerf them all, and this would mean reworking all dungeons (most). So they can’t be farmed like CoF was. Put some mechanics in dungeons that favor tanky characters and not just zerkers dodging everything. Aetherblade Retreat was a great start.
If ANet will ever nerf CoF path 1, the tears of zerkies will flood all Tyria…
Actually, could be a best living story so far…
For the price of Tier 3 cultural armor, you would think that you would get an exotic set. For the same price, you would be able to outfit your character completely in a set of exotic armor and trinkets from the trading post, and with the amount of time it takes to make enough money for the full cultural set you could easily get an exotic dungeon set (or multiple, in some cases). So why is it that T3 armours are only of rare quality?
Because you have to buy Trasmutation Crystals.
WoW became what it is only because of lucky circumstances. I guarantee that if it had another few MMO’s to compete with for playerbase it would never reach such success.
So did GW2… A WoW lite, for free, when the only other competition was The Secret World (a MMO when you have to actually use your brain in order do get the quest done? NEVER! Let’s go spam autoattack on a dragon… inb4 “go play it, then”, i’m doing it already.)
That’s for me (again, inb4 Vayne speaking for the whole community), why GW2 was release prematurely, when i should’ve need at least 5 or 6 months of REAL closed beta.
Nothing… This game have so much to be fixed (and nothing is being done because of those crappy RNG monthly fest), i wouldn’t see an expansion before at least another year.
Based on responses I’m not sure some of you read my post past the first paragraph….I’m agreeing with you, thus the:
“The one thing that’s really missing is the rewards to help make playing in these locations more even exciting and rewarding than they are now.”
And no, we’re not putting in a new currency, we have plenty of those
I’d like to know what you mean with “rewards”… Because unless you guys makes them drop T6 mats or lodestone or a decent amount of money more often… Green and blue crap is everything but “reward”…
1 hour fighting risens in Orr or karka in Southsun, should be more rewarding than doing 10 CoF path 1 runs, right?
I think the Engineer is a beast with a rifle…particularly if well spec’d out with “firearms” traits. My engineer with rifle IMHO has one of the best ranged attacks in the game.
But if you don’t like the look of the “Predator”…I can see the OP’s point.
It’s not about liking the Predator’s look or not… But it’s a freakin’ SNIPER RIFLE! Engies shot from hip… Can you think anything more stupid than shooting with a precision rifle like it’s a kitten shotgun?
Me, can’t log in for the same error
This raises a philosopical question. If Dulfy does that fractal and kills herself, is it suicide?
It’s like dividing by zero.
Every time Dulfy kills Dulfy, a piece of Tyria breaks… Now you know how bugs like the salvage one some weeks ago, happens.
I totally agree with Vayne… Never tought i’d seen that day, lol.
Actually this is completely wrong. Let’s say a minority of complainers have a minority that react. Some people who watch stuff will STILL see the results on the market.
Let’s not forget, I also said the price went up because of the fact that everyone is in Southsun, on top of the nerfs. It all feeds the same hole. It’s how runs happen on the stock market too.
So, Anet nerfs some runs, Southsun starts, this post appears, people read the post and talk about it to guildies, someone looks, they see the price go up, they panic and buy before the price goes up more, other people see the situation and start stockpiling.
It’s not one thing, it’s a bunch of things. But this type of post doesn’t help. In fact, it contributes to whatever is going on. It’s not just people who read the forums, but people who talk to their guilds about what they read on the forums.
It’s how rumors start too.
Or, people is starting to get really kitten ed to see a broken economy (inb4 John Smith is economy god if he say it’s all ok, it’s must be that way), and that the already huge amount of farm in order to obtain ANYTHING (of course except if your idea of endgame in GW2 is going full hippye and running to the fields enjoying the world and loving ANet for every single critter), is getting more and more huge by the day…
I farmed there for like a half hour (i get bored real quick) almost every day since Southsun crappy-not-so-living-story started, and got always from 5 to 11 T6 armored scales, running only the 200% MF bonus, except tonight that i was with omnomberry bars.
It’s all about RNG, but still, when there’s such a massive amount of mobs, chances to get better loots increases.
It’s the use of words like crisis. The moment that word appeared in a thread and a few people started buying up crystalline dust, that was the moment the problem became compounded, if there was a problem there in the first place. Pointing it out is simple logic.
Nope its a conspiracy theory and like I said you lambast others for similar theories about anet.
Umm, actually it’s not a conspiracy theory and you need to learn to read more carefully.
I didn’t say the OP did this thing….I said I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. A completely different statement than saying the OP did this intentionally.
More importantly, using a sensationalist headline, whether intentionally or not WILL affect prices on the TP. How could it not?
It only takes a relatively small amount of people acting on a sensationalist headline to affect prices and start a stampeded…intentional or not.
Now one may wonder… Why when there’s somebody complain about anything, it’s a minimal part of the community, when the vast majority either is out there playing and not reading forums, or just thankful for every single rabbit or snow owl present in world and pray ANet for making such a flawless and perfect game, but suddenly they are all reading the forum and the sensationalistic post, reacting by conseguence and making the price skyrocket?
Surely that minority of complainer you always talk about wouldn’t be able to achieve such a thing, right?
Event will end, not be nerfed, lol.
Anyway, as far as i’m concerned, that 200% MF buff is just another prove of how useless is that stat, i get the same amount of rare drops in Orr as i do in Karkaland, and i almost always run without MF food o gear.
inb4 sharks spot get nerfed…
Now, this COULD be an abberation because I don’t do it that often, but for my money, I’ve personally made more money farming the armored scales.
Some people say they can make 9g/h with skelk on another post.
I didn’t know you can make that much on armor scales. So how many scale you get an hour? like 30?
I don’t know. I got 10 in about 15 minutes…but it might just be an aberration.
Actually, this time Vayne is almost right.
I just got out from the shark spot near Crab Toss island with 5 armored scales in 15-20 minutes…
So he probably overexagerate to prove his point, but i can confirm that’s one got spot for farm.
Wich now will be nerfed to death because ANet want us all autoattacking dragons and behemoth in their “revolutionary” Dinamic Events…
I’m sure when TESO’s release date will be announced, T6 mats will start dropping like candies.
And “magically” the precursor’s scavenger hunt will appear…
can you elaborate? Do you want a guaranteed yellow item for each drop? What is the alternative? RNG is practically standard in mmos, the problem imho is the low chance to get something interesting.
I think he was talking about RNG from the gem store boxes. Really if you are willing to pay real money for an in-game item, you should have a 100% chance to get the item instead of paying money and playing the lottery.
^ This.
Did you like the Single Player Canach fight?
No. They sold is as a new dungeon… It comes out as a room with one fight that takes 3 minutes straight.
Did you like the Explorable NULL fight?
Same here, but like EVERY single “more difficult” content is just the same stuff with more HP.
Do you think you were rewarded correctly for the events of this Chapter
Even more than correctly, 1 gold for Canach? I’m sure ANet will make us pay for this lol.
Do you like the new items that were added in drops at Southsun?
No. I mean, a half naked miniguy and a half naked minigirl? Sclerite Weapons are the worst thing ever seen, and the accessory are just useless for my characters, but i guess some class could find them usefull… Maybe.
Do you think that this chapter was presented to you correctly?
No. I still don’t understand what the heck is this Canach dude doing there and how is involved in all of this.
Do you like the way the achievements are setup with the living story
Adding so many achievement for events not already in game is just stupid, and people is stupidest, the prove comes from all the “where’s karka queen?” in map chat since day one of the living story.
Do you like the new gem store items added in this patch?
I don’t like RNG crap. Period.
Do you like the Consortium Gem Shop Chest?
See up there.
‘Course, after they nerfed the drop rate of ectos from rares, that’s quickly going to become ridiculous to do as well.
^ This.
Inb4 “nobody nerfed anything, take off that tinfoil hat”
Actually I don’t farm because it scrambles my brain. I can’t do it for any longer than it takes to master the build (10 seconds) It’s boring, not fun and silly. That’s not why I play games. I’d rather do engaging content, which, by definition, farming is not.
Now, while i agree with you about farming (i don’t do it almost at all), though i completely understand and support people who ask for a chance to farm in a profitable way… Just out of curiosity i must ask you:
What kind of “engaging content” are you talking about? Autoattacking a dragon/behemoth/fire ele/golem/insert world event of your choice while standing in a corner?
If you haven’t found any engaging content in this game, why do you play it?
There are many dynamic event chains that I really like. Not surprising out of 1500 of them. They’re not all, or even mostly meta events. I love the event chain that runs through Straits of Devastation for example. I love some of the little, funny quests. I find some jumping puzzles engaging. I’ve found some (but not that many) personal story instances engaging. I’ve also found zone exploration with my map markers turned off engaging. There are some mini-dungeons I’ve found engaging. Forsaken Halls was a lot of fun.
I don’t find meta events that everyone does engaging, because too many people are doing them, but there’s plenty of other stuff in the game I quite like.
I was asking Marnick, but still, i think by reading the forum everyone already knows that you love everything about the game, anyway, the reason why i’m still playing is because i’ve friends in game and i like to spend time with them, and after a day at work, it’s ok to just turn the brain off and do something while talking with them.
Now, what i don’t get is, why you find doing jumping puzzles, events and such, fun, and it’s ok and everyone must accept that and agreed, and if somebody like to spend one hour killing skelks for mats, is not ok?
I think if ANet sould ever take out the events or JPs you like, you’d be upset, right? (c’mon, you can admit it, even a tiny little bit upset is acceptable), so why they can’t complain when the things they like to do is taken off or made less enjoiable?

The No subscription fee is the biggest selling point of GW2 and the main reason of it’s success so far.
If there was a subscription fee, i don’t think the game would’ve been through the first 3 months (with launch problems and the whole Lost Shores + Ascendant crap fiasco) so easily.
Never mind the massive irony is that piling on toughness in dungeons is likely to make you the mob magnet, negating any survivability said toughness is supposed to provide.
As i sit here reading i start to wonder if why the mobs are such damage sponges are because ANet knows that zerker is that massive but can’t find a way to tone it down.
I wanted to quote these two lines right here, because they go together so well.
Tell me, if a group of people was beating on you, and you had to decide who to take down first, who would you go for? The guy that’s doing the least damage, but will be the hardest to take out of the fight? No, you’d go for the guy kicking your face in, and sporting a glass jaw.
Mobs should target high power first, not high toughness. No, this doesn’t fix much of anything in a group where everyone’s full ‘zerker, but it’s how I’d think things should work in general. Right?
That’s why people is still asking for a return of the holy trinity… Because ANet yelled all over the world about “we took trinity off the game”… But they replaced it with a broken and stupid mechanic.
8 months is not new. Period.
I can’t think of a single MMO that was particularly good at 8 months.
RIFT was perfect since day one.
Does that include the MAJOR security breach launch week that saw THOUSANDS of accounts hacked in very short order?
Does that include the first major world event Rift did for which they had to apologize?
Here’s a better question… do you remember when Rift launched and every second or third day they’d completely change the skills in skill trees? It was ridiculous.
If it was perfect, they probably wouldn’t have had to do that.
Do you remember when everyone wakittenting the planarite cap and there was nothing to spend planarite on, so no one was doing zone wide events?
Do you remember before the dungeon finder was launched, how many people were complaining that there was no group finder.
Do you remember how many people complained about getting knocked off their mounts, and being slowed when trying to run places, until Trion fixed it.
You must have a short memory.
A) Being slowed while knocked off by mount is called WORKING AS INTENDED.
B) We are still waiting a Dungeon Finder here… At least Trion listened to the players.
C) Do you remember the first, and second major event in Guild Wars 2… At least Trion apologised for something not gone well.
Basically, RIFT at day 1 was over 9000 times more polished than GW2 after nine months.
8 months is not new. Period.
I can’t think of a single MMO that was particularly good at 8 months.
RIFT was perfect since day one.
ARENA NET ANSWER US ALREADY ! TAKE CARE OF YOUR COMMUNITY!
I’m sure they are preparing a very long and explanative post to answer you about this really serious issue…
Precursors are a myth!
I tought the same, but then Zommoros proved me wrong :O
I agree, I think I’m in the minority in that I enjoy this game just for what it is. I’m not saying I’m better than players who don’t, I guess everyone has a different view.
I thought this game was going to please a far larger percentage of MMO players but I can see I was wrong now. I happy to be in the slice that does love it, let the good time roll
I’m not sure why you think you’re in the minority. You may well, however, be in the minority of people who post on forums. In game might show a different story. Someone who logs in to relax or play the game solo, or just doesn’t spend as much time is far less likely to post on a forum than people who min/max. I mean it’s not like you have to ask about what’s the best build, or what class performs the best, because you play what you like.
In fact, I’m actually convinced there are far more people who play solo or just immerse themselves in the world than anyone suspects. I can’t prove it but it sure seems like there’s a bunch of us out there.
The fact that YOU are actually convinced about something, or YOU do something in a way rather than another, doesn’t mean that it must be the right way.
There’s people who enjoy reward and gratification by playing the game, and GW2 is far from rewarding, because 99% of the things you loot is useless and hold little to no value.
That comes from someone who actually like to lose herself around, chatting with guildies, doing world events and some wvw from time to time… And absolutely can’t stand more than one CoF run every 4 or 5 days.
I kinda agreed with Vol, tough Mirta has a strong poin too.
Anyway, GW2 is the most unrewarding mmo ever, to the point that 99% of the loots are just little more than junk.
Just got Spark by throwing 4 random rares from events in the Mystic Toilets, i wans going for any in particular, just saving money and gambling from time to time with events rewards… And well, seems that i kicked RNG in the nuts.
An established MMO is going to have some advantage over a new one after the shine wears off. And if you think that other MMOs will launch with a less “greedy” cash shop, well…off you go then. Will you have the grace to return if you’re wrong?
Defiance.
Skins and veicles on the cash shop with the same stats of the ones you can get in game.
RNG boxes with a chance to get the rarest weapons in game, and you can buy them via real money and in game currencies.
RIFT will be totally free to play in less than 2 weeks, Trion already stated that everything will be obtainable in game, and cash shop will only have mounts and cosmetic items.
There are already “less greedy” cash shop games out there…
And a new MMO can become “esablished” in a few months, the same has been for GW2.
If I were Anet i’d be mad careful about posting anything.
They are the same people who posted about “an expansion worth of content”…
Would you buy the next expansion? Why or why not.
No way.
Why should a buy more gambling, more RNG, more autoattack-semi afk “world events”, more facerollable contents and more vertical progression?
And by the time ANet will throw out an expansion, Elder Scrolls Online and Wildstar well be already released and at least for me, GW2 will be long forgotten…
do you want ascended armor?
No.
I want more and better armor skins, that i can obtain witout grinding like a bot or hoping to be one of those account with RNG in favor.
Because, you know, i’ve been told that this game was all about cosmetic progression…
It’s amazing to see how many people NOW, all of a sudden discover to have EVER hated trinity…
Anyway, i’d like to see, maybe not a classici trinity style, but good game mechanics that are not focused on only dps or autoattack a giant useless mob…
Oh, and the chance to actually EARN shiny skins and stuff…
Engineer, cause i’m masochistic
Probably yes, but don’t worry, drop rates will remains always ridiculously low, no matter what.
which would require you to be skilled, a good player
I’m sorry my friend, but this game is not designed for such things as skills.
lol because i wanted to hear about the real scavenger hunt. badly.
Don’t hold your breath.
LF Cleric? Yeah… the joy of Trinity.
Please explain to me the difference between this and LF zerker warrior, or “you a ranger? -> kicked”…
Do you want to know the difference?
Five rangers can run a dungeon.
I guess you pug. Your loss, as far as I’m concerned.
I joined a guild that doesn’t play to get the most efficient fastest run. We run dungeons all the time. A necro in our guild has the dungeon master title. We take rangers with us all the time. The last time I beat Arah, path 1, I had two rangers in the party.
In other games, you really DO need a monk. So don’t compare the two games.
Those who play for efficiency alone a percentage of players…but they don’t represent the entire player base and I’m not even sure they represent the majority.
I do pug, and i play an engineer, and luckily i’ve never been kicked, but i’ve seen rangers being kicked.
And i suspect you never played The Secret World, or you should know that you don’t neek a “monk”, when you can switch between the 3 roles.
And those people may not be the vast majority, but they are a enough to makes LFG and map chat annoying pretty often.
Pretty appealing. I prefer cosmetic upgrades to stat upgrades. I’ve made my peace with ascended gear, only because I feel there was a tier of gear missing between exotic and legendary.
But really I’d like to see the game max out on stats and not have another stat increase again, at least until an paid expansion.
I agree with you on the preference on cosmetic over stats… But still i don’t get how did you feel that there was a tier missing?
I mean, Legendary has the same stats of Exotic, so there was NO tier from them…
And i still fail to understand why i can’t craft or acquire ascendent gear via karma or other ways, but only by doing what ANet wants us to do (fractals and bounty bugged stuff)… So much for “play the way you want”
If I never saw the holy trinity again, it would be too soon. In fact, if no game ever from now till the end of eterniity included it, I couldn’t be happier. I will NEVER play another trinity game, ever.
Problem is, ANet wanted to get rid of the old tank-healer-dps, but they made it worse, cause now is dps-dps-dps mindless facerolling stuff.
I’m not actually sure it is a step forward…
LF Cleric? Yeah… the joy of Trinity.
Please explain to me the difference between this and LF zerker warrior, or “you a ranger? → kicked”…
How do you 100% Diessa Plateau. With the catapult event bugged the entire time I’m wondering how any 100% this area.
Lolwut… It’s still bugged after like almost 9 months?
buy to play, not free to play
True, but ANet keep pushing people to the cash store like any other F2P around…
They’re probably too busy designing new greatsword skins.
Aas a matter of fact, they are.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6j9c6NRkWESo you think artists that design swords are the same guys as programmers that fix bugs. I see. Interesting. /rolls eyes
You know, there’s no need to wear the white armor with ANet logo every time someone makes a joke…
Except you can’t always tell when some people are joking.
Well you got a point, english is not my native language, so i may sound more rude than i actually want to be
They’re probably too busy designing new greatsword skins.

Well, let’s hope ANet will do to us something similar at what they did to rangers…
Nerf after nerf after nerf, but they got Reef Drake pet!
And now quiver and bow skins!
Anet said in an early interview (before launch) that dual professions would never happen in GW2 because it was a nightmare to balance in GW1.
Considering how well they’re balancing professions now, the next ANet game will have 1 class only…
Considering how awful every other MMO balance their classes, I think ArenaNet is doing a hell good job.
Lemme guess… You play a warrior, don’t you?
Wrong, I let you guess one more time.
Hint: A Warrior with magical protection powers.
Oh well, a Guardian, that explain everything…
Try to roll an Engineer or a Ranger, than come back and we may talk about class balancing.
