If Melandru has built Tyria, can he control leylines and all its power? What’s the connection between the land and the magic that lies within? Are they somewhat intertwined?
Hi, I’m an Elementalist and I like your idea.
They also seem perfect to have Control-based skills (like all hammer skills).
For example: Staves are mainly supprtive, Scepters do single target dmg so this would fit perfect with Control-based skills that light armor professions lack (when comparing to hammer).Things that came to my mind:
For Necro: Summon chains of ice that pulls your target and chill them.
Ele Air: Throws your target and other enemies arround your target to the air
Ele Earth: Sumons a rock hand from the ground that imobilizes your target, activate again to slam the target and knock down all enemies in a line
Mesmer: Switch places with your target confusing himThis also seems awsome weapon for thievs IF wont float in the air. Following the Control-Based skills
I like the mesmer idea, WS got a swap skill like that and it’s really fun. For eles, there are so many ideas and I think that air suits the best for magical discs.
When you talked about thief I remember Xena: The Warrior Princess for some reason. lol
You think Anet forgot?
That’s 100% impossible, they never overlook promises.
I look at MMO’s — heck, video games in general — from a stimulus/response point of view. On a macro level, the stimulus is what the game provides one to do, and the response is enjoyment (whether we think of that as overcoming challenge, getting rewards, doing things with friends, etc.). The problem is that humans become jaded. Once the stimulus has been experienced enough times, the enjoyment falls below a “Boredom Threshold.” This point is going to be different for different people. Once it has been reached, though, the demand for new stimulus starts. Demand for new can in fact start in short order after the last new stimulus was made available.
As GW2 consumers, we’ve been conditioned to expect “something new every two weeks.” That was where this thread started. Since, the, “LS is not good” and the, “Need Expansion” posts started showing up. Ultimately, though, much of the dissatisfaction boils down to personal thresholds for boredom being exceeded or the new stimulus not being enjoyed. Every bit of new content, no matter what it is, hits obsolescence sooner or later.
The LS approach was designed to address this problem. One issue with it was that too many posters did not enjoy it. This may have been because they wanted something different, because their schedules didn’t allow them to experience it, etc. Another is that now that we have been conditioned, a break in the schedule prompts upset.
So, what’s the point? I find that taking this perspective allows me to step outside of what I want, to the point that I stop caring so much. Or, maybe it’s because, for me, analyzing GW2 issues is a stimulus that provokes an enjoyment response.
I totally agree with this post. It’s not really enjoyment, it’s about stimulus.
You can always go to EotM, main purpose is for testing stuff so it might be used aswell as a place to learn how to command.
Now I have never played TERA or any other game with discs, but it seems like a good idea and we could use more weapons. I do like to point out that gaurdians also use spellcaster weapons like staves, but you did not add them to your list of professions that should get this new weapon. Is there a reason for this?
It seems to me that discs are not suited for guardians line of magic, i.e. it doesn’t seem to fit them, but we could work out that in some way if there’s a reasonable explanation lore-wise.

We’ve seen this before, yep TERA (and a few more MMORPGs). Just face it: they’re awesome, magical discs that flows magic and deal serious injury to the enemy in a variety of debuffs while also acting as a bard weapon empowering allies.
I want mesmers, necromancers and mainly elementalists opinions, what do you think about adding this new weapon class to the game? For some time the game seemed so much focused on cannons and artillery, we could use more magic here and there.
Originally, I thought about these weapons as dual wield (looks much better).
PS.: I ask for respectful debate, if you dislike OR like it simply voice your opinion in a constructive way, let’s keep the discussion healthy.

I’m going to give you spoilers now. Deal with it: Dragon Bash starts → some evil plot takes place during the festival → some people are harmed → some mysterious mentor is discovered in the festival.
Please, be more original this time, let things happen from outside, in somewhere else since we got huge unused maps.
I still don’t understand why the suggestions forum has been taken down, people got a hell lot of miscellaneous suggestions that don’t fit anywhere else… so probably the devs are going to see a lot of those suggestions in general discussion.
I’d rather have a material grinding rather than gold grinding, even if you could sell matts for gold it would still be better.
Seriously guys, GuildWars2 is a masterpiece in the making, and close to being finished.
You just admitted that we’ve just been playing a beta for two years.
So he saw what he did there, eh?
There should be a delay, I lose Vapor Form in the worst times.
They need to design new gold sinks, the whole economy should **NOT*** be only about precursors. Legendaries shouldn’t be sellable in the first place.
Maturing weapons man, they can tie this to time-gated stuff so it does take legitimate time to craft… if they come up with scavenger hunt, they must do it carefully otherwise there’ll be an overflow of legendaries (but actually, there already is).
Actually I agree with him, if you simply compare GW2 to other MMOs nowadays, it’s unbeatable in its core design apart from a few flaws (either being huge or minor). The foundation is too much solid for it to fall apart in a near future, I only expect the best, I just hope they speed up things a bit.
Jesus Christ, Chris already posted in another* thread just a few hours ago….

Unless Anet does an overhaul on the way we obtain pre-cursors then the prices will to skyrocket out of control and within a few months, dusk will be 4000g.
I seriously hope it never gets as close as that.
Let’s just accept that ANet doesn’t know how to design proper challenges, only pew-pew content. No such a thing as risk vs. reward, only insane grinding vs. reward.
“Asking people to “save up 1000G” is insane.”
The price is only 1000 gold because some people will pay 1000 gold. You are not competing against the trading post to buy any item. You are competing against what other players will pay. One implication is that any casual player who wants to buy an item after a moderate time is probably competing against many hardcore players who want to buy the item after investing an awful lot of time. Is it insane to spend a lot of time farming virtual coin for virtual rewards? Ask yourself that before you spend your time doing it.
Two words: Market Manipulation and post-launch precursor-related bugs. (oops! more than two words, I apologize)
Human warrior with twilight.
But let’s not forget how lame character creator is in gw2…
OMG This! So much mainstream. :P
I’d like to remember people that ArenaNet has always considered experimenting, so nothing is simply discarded regardless of whether it’s good or not, it’s not like “throwing money out the window”… It’s actually pretty impressive how bold they are to try new things and polish to a state it becomes desired by the players, the problem is that innovating and trying new things may take time, and it’s not a good idea to keep players waiting on your experimentations.

“Dated engine”? I almost spit my coffee now, there will always be constraints when engineering an engine, and market is among those.
Why is it always fishing?
Why not add knitting, or rock collecting, or calligraphy, or bobsledding, or taxidermy, or…
wait. Bobsledding would be awesome!
You sir, are a genius.
Our Mist Form also increases movement speed by 66%, heck yeah! LOL
Your reasoning makes no sense. Everything is unified now, yet you find that harder to manage than having different amounts of gold spread out across different characters?
You didn’t understand, I meant it’s spread out in a sense that every character shares the wallet and therefore keeps changing the amount, I’d like to have some place apart do keep my gold. But whatever, someone suggested a nice way to get the old behavior back, it’s fine now.
If it’s a matter of budgeting and limiting spending for each individual character, surely a spreadsheet would help you there, right?
No, just a place to put the gold separated, but it’s fine, I’ll use TP.
If you don’t want to make a personal guild just to store gold, you can alway put your gold in the trading post. Put in an order for dusk at 300gold won’t get you the precursor at all, and there is no fee for putting in an order. Also, you can pick it up anytime, that’s how i store my gold.
Yeah but if I’m correct you must cancel it because orders expire after some time, right? Anyways, an awesome suggestion, thank you!
Geez, I’m not demanding anything, I just prefer having an extra option to store my gold in bank, that’s all…
If GW3 is to be released, it won’t be better than GW2, rather have a different focus… they have an awesome engine already, throwing it out to use Unreal… meh.
At least give the option to store in bank…
There is.
Make a personal guild and use that bank.
Well, if that’s all there is to it I’ll make a guild, but honestly having the old way to store in bank is much simpler.
I know everything has become account-wide, but the gold… it’s hard to manage because it’s everything so spread out, I used to save different amounts of gold among my characters and I was fine with that, now it’s all stacked in your inventory.
Just… please, consider undoing this change for gold, keep everything else but the gold…
No whining please… you should understand their position, it’s an important step for them, just hold on while they launch the game there.
While I understand the “important step” that is china release for then, its totally unfari forget all the rest of community. Veterans players that are here supporting the game since first BWE.
If Gemstore itens, and china release is more important than sustain the game, then the developers are going to the same sort of way that ESO devs, where the most important part is the insta profit, from sell things.
You must agree, that feature patch was ,for a large part of community, a big nothing, and then keep the game without content for 3 months (After a promise of bi-week content) without even post a state of game, is really awful.
It’s not that simple, and it’s not like they aren’t reading the forums (although it seems so), but when they launched in US/EU they were only focused on that, now they have the already released regions plus China to carry on. I mean, just chill out… we won’t die, it’s a game, go enjoy some other stuff meanwhile, I’m sure they’re building something really worth it behind the scenes.
No whining please… you should understand their position, it’s an important step for them, just hold on while they launch the game there.
I… have no idea if this is a serious request or not. :|
This. Please, stop.
Yo, I bought a tag to mislead people to fall off edges in EotM. Don’t judge me!
I’m thinking Majory’s sister will be part of the new hero line up.
Then she’ll die because we haven’t had a heroic death lately.
Don’t. Ever. Say. That. RIP Tybalt Leftpaw.
