The gold-gem ratio comes from supply and demand, as long as more people are willing to buy gems with gold than sell gems for gold, it’ll keep rising. On an economic view, a brilliant way of removing excess gold from the system.
On a sense this equals to WS payment model: if you have time, farm gold, otherwise pay. The key is that gem shop holds unnecessary stuff, while in WS it means access to the game, but since the game is focused on skins and most of decent ones are acquired through gemstore (namely weapons and about 8 sets of full armor), it’s kind of the same.
Dredge. Because boon stacking + blind immunity + constant dazzes + knockdowns + rampage of projectiles are awesome.
Lol they need to make money to get the servers up and running, guys. Not all that awkward. What IS terrible is gold→gem conversion. >.>
So we got mainly the Feature Pack in 2014, we’re approaching month #6 and it seems the game state has stopped. If you see what’s behind the feature pack it’s not all those full-featured stuff, but polish instead aside from wardrobe and a few other things.
Feature-wise the game lacks a lot, and we can’t walk too far from the core proposal so every feature we think about has to be tailored to skins and things of the like. I’d like to see:
- Housing
- New legendaries
- A full underwater map (don’t judge me, I love the largos!)
- New weapon choices or new skills or reviewing a lot of useless skills
- Defining once and for all a solid, consistent and concise framework to build personal stories and the living world on top of it while avoiding letting newcomers lost in a sea of unexplained lore (The Great Library idea? a LS book like PS?)
- Building more interesting side-stories in the lore in which characters don’t have to be in the “heroes of the season” group (I’m looking at Braham, Rox and the others)
- Revisiting the game’s combat core and evaluating what counters it better in order to properly avoid “stacking” and “skipping” behavior, while providing a challenging PvE system (c’mon devs, you built the combat, you should know how to make us sweat at dungeons)
And etcetera. But since none of this is coming this early, I’d like to know from you fellow gamers, what do you think it’s in store for us this year? I mostly believe revamping UIs and some maps, new LS, and maybe some new project towards legendaries/guild content.
There’s an empty space between dungeon and world events, that needs to be filled up.. Guilds with great numbers of ppl can’t play all togeter, needs always to split for making some activities all togeter
Guild Missions?
BWAHAHAHAHAH nice one.
He said there’s no content for guilds with a large number of people. Stating that guilds can’t play together since they always need to split up. However, guild missions allow everyone in the guild to work together without splitting. They aren’t super difficult, but they still require far more coordination than the majority of dynamic events/world events and even some dungeons (and the OP never said they needed to be extremely difficult).
His, and I assume your suggestion, would still split large guilds up.
I find GMs too much “meh”, ArenaNet only knows how to create “epic” things visual-wise (see dragons, champions, huge thingies all over). But the epicness should be about the lore, the one challenge that makes you scream after finishing, even Tequatl didn’t stand up to the hype and it’s been beaten to death.
See, I’m not saying the art is poor or we should not value the looks of the game, but that SHOULDN’T be all there is to make stuff epic… and I believe that deep inside you agree.

That screenshot reminds be how beautiful Guild Wars 2 is… oh the landscapes.
Ah, about the fog, yes. Reduce it a little please.
Oh, you mean like raid? Sounds fun.
It truly does sound fun. Like when UW/FoW or SF opened in gw 1, or Urgoz/Deep was introduced in Factions. I’ll go ahead and say DoA also (I was pretty against the shadow form meta after a few months though). GW2 really needs an elite pve area that guilds/larger groups of friends can tackle, or “raid”. The early days of SF release when we had a blast going at it for hours at a time, some of my fondest memories.
I’m not building fond memories here except from the release, where is ANet leading their game… :/
I got mine from the MF, I was a little lucky though…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsOmoTdLNJU
You’re hated by a stranger now!!! -_-
I believe it’s a technical limitation with armor and hair clipping.
You mean investing more time? But then we got a deadlock because not everyone can spare more time, I bet many people complaining about this system can’t play that much, EVEN if someone who plays just a little has dropped a precursor, we talk average not isolated cases.
I think that in general, time invested isn’t the problem, it is the fact that you don’t feel as though your time invested is actually doing anything until it suddenly pays off.
Using a method in which you slowly accumulate your Precursor lets you visually see your progress as it happens.
It really isn’t any different from the current method of obtaining gold to buy a Precursor in terms of time (well, maybe less time depending on the rate of inflation), but it actually gives you feedback letting you know that you are progressing which makes the time investment seem less daunting.
I agree with you, maybe that’s the purpose of those journal links. I’m sure someone in ANet didn’t overlook how terrible the current system is, and is trying their best to come up with something real for us.
I must be lucky. Got a dusk from karka event while back.
And dawn and dusk from mystic forge after non stop 1800 lvl 80 rare gsKarka event gave you a nice boost in Magic Find (like 200%, I think?), so yeah, you were “lucky”
The “best” way to get a Precursor is to maximize your chances. This means either dumping items in the Mystic Forge or maximizing your kills per hour while running high Magic Find.
Doing normal gameplay will give you very few rolls for a precursor, which is why many people are able to play the game since launch and never see one. Essentially, if you want to increase your odds of winning the lottery, you have to buy more tickets. Only problem is that buying more tickets involved really boring gameplay.
You mean investing more time? But then we got a deadlock because not everyone can spare more time, I bet many people complaining about this system can’t play that much, EVEN if someone who plays just a little has dropped a precursor, we talk average not isolated cases.
So yeah, making a legendary contingent on a single very rare drop is a terrible system. On the other hand chances are good that you will do more than the amount expected to get a precursor and still not get it without the RNG being broken.
On the flip side, making Precursors more available would increase the number of people working on a Legendary which will increase demand for the parts. If we increase the demand of already rare parts (the t6 fine materials), the price will rise.
Basically, right now it costs a lot of gold to complete step 1 (“get a precursor”). If we make step 1 cheaper, then you’ll have a lot of people who have completed step 1 and now need to complete step 2 (“get T6 fine materials”). All we’ve done is shifted the cost to step 2, so you’re really no closer to your goal at all, you just feel a bit better about your progress because you were able to check off a cheap step 1.
I’d rather start from ZERO today but having a reasonable way of obtaining the precursor than amassing a pile of gold for that single item. The progression feels way smoother, and I got a lot of people agreeing with me (including guildies).
How do I “casual?” Let’s see, first I put on my WW1 era pilot goggles, grab a bottle of rum, log in, select my warrior, and run dungeons and fractals half drunk while screaming into teamspeak. Somehow my guild doesn’t hate me yet.
One does not simply hate drunk guildies!! I’d like to be invited to hear you freaking out in TS hahah
Experiences are just experiences, it only proves what we already know – RNG is RNG –, we’re mostly arguing how that’s a broken mechanics for a single item that may represent 50% of the legendary and the nonstop rising prices.
(edited by Valento.9852)
I don’t think grinding 500-800 gold was intentional by design.
You’re joking? The prices are at the very least 800g, The Legend has skyrocket to about 1400g as of lately.
Oh yeah, and scarlet skins it looks like too. All very glowy.
You haven’t seen my 100% white sylvari with Celestial Flamekissed Armor and Wind Catcher backpiece.
Either way, they have to greatly increase the drop rate, it’s the only way to reduce the prices. I don’t see them increasing the drop rate, so we’re all pretty much screwed. 1400g for The Legend as I write this. It’s just obscene!!!
If the price keeps rising I will never be able to buy it… I’m saving but I don’t have enough time, I play roughly 4h a day WHEN I can. I honestly think the way to obtain precursors at this moment is completely broken, no matter how hard the profit-hard gamers try to impose how awesome it is, the truth is that it’s not.
Twilight transmuted onto AC Greatsword for bugged strong particle effects + zodiac armor. :P
Oh, and Moot too?
I wish there was Power/Healing Power/Vitality set.
Yep, that’s what I want too. But it would probably be a broken stat for pvp/wvw
But elementalists NEED it… why ANet? :’(
The asura. All the asuras killed every single horse to stablish asura gates everywhere so they could profit.
If they add new legendaries I seriously hope they don’t add a crapton of particle effects, as it’s already too much. I personally seek Bifrost and I don’t find it overloading with effects, it’s cleanly rainbows and even the footsteps are simple rainbows, the pistol on the other hand has too many different effect patterns sparkling out from the weapon.
Tequatl seems to drop stuff more often than Wurms in a general sense from my experience running it every day, and there are the unique skins to it. Maybe Wurms is just a test, because it doesn’t seem like a champion of any dragon (maybe, just maybe, Mordremoth), yet Tequatl IS a champion of Zaithan empowered by some unknown forces, if they are to match lore with rewards then maybe that’s the way it goes.
I doubt they’ll touch Fractals in a while now, they have to strengthen the game core ASAP as their playerbase loses hope and new MMO promises grow silently.
The “epic questline” should be unlocked when someone reaches 15k-20k AP. It could have RNG, but not as heavy as the one we currently have, we could spice it up with the “maturing weapon” idea someone gave in another thread.
There can be ways to turn legendaries into something they’re meant to be – legendary!
I want to disable legendaries. Oh, and tags, lots of them commander tags on the map.
this guy stole all the luck from other people’s accounts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UyZ1I2xesU&feature=youtu.becheck out his other videos too – he gets GS precursors every 300g spent
The most recent comment on that video is word for word how I feel about this game’s ridiculously bugged RNG. I feel that no matter how many forges I do, I will never get anything while the forge is working just fine for others.
That’s the nature of randomness.
PS.: I do hate RNG precursors, but that’s just how it goes. Hopefully they’ll implement scavenger hunt soon.
Don’t be sad dude, give me your gold and I’ll make good use of it!
Seriously though, don’t make Bifrost for necros… it’s just silly.
This is getting out of hand, I’m seeing doritos EVERYWHERE when running world bosses. Was there a sale recently that I’m unaware of? LOL
I got 3 ascended armor boxes last week, I have no clue what’s going on (always been unlucky with drops).
Stop counting tuesdays and go read a book.
…
Kidding! But seriously, it does give the impression they’re not caring about their playerbase with all this silence, no official announcement…
ow btw…about throwing in rares/exotics…
Could it be true that throwing in “named” exotics raises the odds for getting a precursor ?
I noticed that when I throw in “normal” ones, I get mostly normals in return..but when I use named ones, I get back more named ones
Anyone else noticed this?I did got twilight pre-cursos throwing 4 yellows: 2 were daggers, 1 medium helmet and heavy boots.
RNG is RNG
Wait, wait, wait… you got it by mixing armor and weapons?
Lol the game is nearly 2 years old and people think it’s going to die. lol
I don’t get OP. It’s all about rotation, you will never simply have strong heals, you build up a strong heal by popping small regens and proc’s here and there whenever it fits the situation.
As an elementalist, I find healing a very cool experience and I can provide awesome support for the party with a bard-ish style gameplay (6/0/0/4/4, might/fury stacking with heal and cond. removal with S/D), or full Staff healer (0/2/0/6/6, Aquatic Belevolence is OP).
Oh my what’s going on in this thread? *grabs rule*
You two, now!
Hi, I’m an Elementalist and I like your idea.
They also seem perfect to have Control-based skills (like all hammer skills).
For example: Staves are mainly supprtive, Scepters do single target dmg so this would fit perfect with Control-based skills that light armor professions lack (when comparing to hammer).Things that came to my mind:
For Necro: Summon chains of ice that pulls your target and chill them.
Ele Air: Throws your target and other enemies arround your target to the air
Ele Earth: Sumons a rock hand from the ground that imobilizes your target, activate again to slam the target and knock down all enemies in a line
Mesmer: Switch places with your target confusing himThis also seems awsome weapon for thievs IF wont float in the air. Following the Control-Based skills
Mesmer:
Step1: Switch with target on enemy/veteran inside Keep or Garrison
Step 2: Portal
Step 3: Claim structure
Step 4: Next Keep/Garrison
That’s why there’s LoS algorithm, and a few others that prevent going where one’s not supposed to, more respect to their programmers please.
