Add Mystic Coins as rewards. Each tier (bronze/silver/gold) = 1 Mystic Coin, and cap each reward once per account a day. You’d see a LOT of people playing them to death.

I’ve been thinking about this and couldn’t settle on an idea yet, so here goes a strawpoll!
It’s always wonderful to see the community view about the future! Don’t forget to leave comment to support your vote, add possible missing features, and expand on your vision!
There’s a wiki if you’re not into raiding, and they document even the objects’ dialogs. Cinematics are always shown on YouTube aswell. I think the teams made the correct choice with the current framework.
I know you devs are investigating, but I’d like to add that this seems to occur mostly when you dodge after finishing a channeled skill (or maybe just finishing casting duration?). For instance, this happens quite a lot if I don’t wait like half a second with my tempest after overloading an attunement.
If I immediately dodge after finishing an overload I’ll probably get stuck (happens quite often b/c got to have reflexes at times).
Hey Josh, while you’re here please: have a way to check portal distance. Usually you get a red line below the skill slot if you’re too far from target, make it so that the distance difference calculated takes into account the player and portal entre. It should be easy to add…
@Zedek, I enjoy it aswell and won’t be turning this option on. Hopefully everyone is happy now.
This thread is ridiculous. Someone is clueless about what RPGs are about.
Raids are an expac content and they can do whatever they want with it, nerf it to hell or put high pre-requisites… whatever they kittening want.
@Healix, very interesting point of view. I actually never thought about that, or how some overflows can fail because of lack of visual information about the actual map population and ongoing events. I wonder what would be the best way to convey such info?
Suggestion in a nutshell: condense the weapon into a single skill, inheriting the best effects from the skillbar replacement while also keeping a relevant cooldown.
Conjure Flame Axe
Recharge: 30s; Casting: ½s
Description: Conjures a flaming axe from the skies that explodes upon landing on target area, burning enemies and creating a ring of fire.
Conjure Ice Bow
Recharge: 50s; Casting: ½s
Description: Conjures an ice bow that launches a frozen arrow at your foe freezing them, then unleashes chilling winds around the target.
Conjure Lightning Hammer
Recharge: 40s; Casting: 1s
Description: Conjures a lightning hammer that electrifies nearby allies granting them Precise Strikes, then follows the caster while shooting lightning bolts.
- Precise Strikes: Your next two attacks will deal critical damage.
Conjure Earth Shield
Recharge: 30s; Casting: 1s
Description: Conjures an earth shield enveloping the player in a magnetically-infused shield that applies protection on the first few hits taken. After absorbing every hit the shield will break and spread protection around.
Conjure Fiery Greatsword
Recharge: 90s; Casting: 1½s
Description: Conjures a fiery greatsword that swirls around the caster, pulsing burning, and granting fury to the nearby allies every few seconds. Explodes before disappearing, dealing damage to the nearby foes.
Cough cough once could argue the new Fiery Greatsword is a shameless attempt at giving a condi-oriented elite skill to the ele… and they would be right.
Thoughts?

See, you got this system that locks a number of players per map overflow. This is done because if there are too many people the map stability (FPS, bandwidth, etc) may be compromised and even lead to client/server freakouts. One just can’t expect to have a lot of players in a single map and expect it to behave smoothly (welcome to the world of Technical Limits).
Having that said, why is it so bad that people rely on taxing to join a meta map? I’ve been thinking about it and just couldn’t find a better way to fix this issue, specially when talking about raising the player limit per overflow.
Small idea:
- Overflow Type Choice: Have an option under your “Y” menu that offers a choice for the type of overflow you’d like to play. These would be:
- Meta map: Your overflow preference will match those attempting at beating dangerous enemies in the next map you join.
- Chill-out map: Your overflow preference will match those which are adventuring in the world of Tyria at their own pace.
- Additional mechanics: When a meta map is 10min. away from starting a meta, a pop-up will show up for everyone currently in the map. If they respond “Yes” their map preference will switch to “Chill-out map” and will be redirected to the appropriate overflow. The question would be along these lines: This map instance will face a great challenge ahead. Do you prefer a more relaxed environment?
- Clicking “Yes” would place a 20min. boost to MF/map reward bonus. One could say this would be abused, but think about it: will you wait for a map to reach pre-event just to get a 20min. boost?
It has passed almost three years and there are long-standing bugged events throughout our beloved Tyria. I can’t help but think you just don’t love the game core anymore… don’t you devs remember how you raised the events flag as THE game-selling feature? Events should be at the very least fixed. I was planning to create a topic to suggest expanding them, improving the current system and adding more to it, but how can that be possible if the base event chains are simply bugged?
Actually it’s worse than just being bugged, players have to pray to RNGsus that NPC’s don’t bug out and stop progress. Players do sometimes fear they’ll lose all their progress, be it instance events (dungeons anyone?) or open world events. It’s about time you fix your… events. We have to be extra cautious to get around them or we’ll be stuck and will have to redo from the start, or just give up on a chain event.
I see some GW1 bugs are now immortalized as development for that game has been halted so you could focus on GW2, but I didn’t want that development posture to revive here. You don’t just forget about an old event because you’re too focused on the next xpac, many players bought the core game and fell in love because of central Tyria no matter how hard you try to push new layouts. And that’s ok to be honest, just remember there are altoholics here that play the game multiple times and enjoy every time they play through a zone… only to find the same bugged events all over again.
This is frustrating, ArenaNet, I tell you. This is frustrating.
Sir McGough, where are the short stories? Bring them back. T_T
It seems that, while you’re trying to channel the rift and the converted ally dies before it’s finished (for conditions for example) it won’t purify them and the boss will get stuck.
Jesus Christ, acquiring masteries have been become so stupidly easy…
I love this new framework for decision-making. I wish PvE worked like this…
“it’s best to be careful while AFKing”
There’s no need to be careful. The criteria between game mechanics and automation are very clear and we can easily tell the difference.
Ouch! Turn down for what?
Bumping because this would be AWESOME! Praise them chatlog API.
No to what?
This -20% shout duration would make builds beside regen bunker more possible. I even doupt it would be picked with the -20% over regen for bunker or stab for fresh air eles …
No to directly nerfing base WtPA cd.
I laugh at people who thinks that “getting better” means one-shotting mobs, rather than used a streamlined gear/skill setup to overcome their challenges. L2P
Yes ist realy time now. Add -20% to tempestious aria.
Bunker ele can´t get regen on aura and the cooldown.
If the concern ist pain away then 30 sec base cast time can be done.
Don´t know it this would kill the helbot ele. Guess not.
Just no.
I try to stay away from these arguments, but as cynical as it sounds, it does seem ANet wants to lose players, and money. It’s way past the time you split the two game modes and let them live independently.
MF daily gives just one Mystic Coin… it changes nothing by the looks on the prices.
I’m glad OP changed his mind. Sometimes people only need advice, instead of “lulz dis so obvious, L2P noob” statements. Altruism is lacking nowadays…
Hmmm… Idea. What if, once players have maxed their Mastery bar and can’t obtain any more, every time they gain a “level”, they instead receive 1 Mystic Coin? If there are fears about this possibly generating too much supply, ANet could cap it at, say, 5 extra Coins a day. (Exact amount open to tweaking.)
That’s a nice idea, since we would be levelling a mastery this would lead people to do different stuff for EXP. They could spend some time in open world doing events, or doing fractals. It would be a decentralized incentive to play the game; they only got to tweak amount of XP do level, and amount of earned Mystic Coins (agree on 5).
We should be able to refine t5 mats and gold ore into mystic coins.
Mmmm
Please, no. Don’t give them these kinds of idea, or the liquid price will go even higher.
My suggestion is to add a repeatable mastery that you level and earn like 2-3 Mystic Coins in the end. 3,5kk experience should do it.
Meh… not comparable to the Chak Egg as far as aura goes… maybe the trail?
Welp, the thing that made this chest worth was Reclaimed Metal Plates, but this took so long that I decided to buy the missing 9.
I re-read the OP, and omg you guys are hilarious!
One question: do you have any weekend raiding groups? how many cores do you have by now?
As per image, it’s a programming error it seems. xD
It reads:
InstanceCreate failed. Error=1036; Product=9; Module=18; Line=624
@Edit
Happened when trying to enter the instance with my sylvari, while being in a party.
Would it sound harsh if one were to ask to try out the guild? glowy eyes
It’s just a source of magic, you channel with your other hands or call upon the sky.
Can’t lie to you, I trust ArenaNet writers. Sometimes the focus go amiss, but they have such potential for side stories, it just feels like they have yet to unlock all their creativity, and I personally found them to be pretty good at smaller stories/tales. It’s also a way for them to sharpen their story-telling.
I’m honestly not sure if you’re joking or not. In case you’re not: it would destroy a major WvW class. If you want something more fair then suggest changes to the WvW system, not a working class skills.
Giving more points for taking upgraded objectives is a really neat idea. The overall flow of scoring seems to give more exciting fights. The Last Stand could be a major disappointment depending on how it’s implemented, but I see how thrilling that would be and how it would increase the value of last time fights!
Hope to see these changes soon, they look yummy.
GMTA. I suggested something similar on reddit about a month ago, as a way of explaining the Nightmare Court presence in HoT. Some players might be upset about having to pay for access, so I suggested including a BL key as one of the rewards.
Only problem with that is replayability. If the rewards are once per character one could get many keys. If they decide once per account, then that’s totally feasible IMO.
I can’t help but see the potential for tales. Writers could create very cool and short stories in their own pace (no commitment at all), and still guarantee profits for themselves and the company. There would be no need for a specialized team aswell, they could break seasons and add tales in between, you know, a very different flow to the story-telling.
Hi everyone.
Long ago ANet writers wrote what they called short stories, which were basically pretty chunks of Guild Wars 2 lore told outside the game, through blogposts, and as such added some depth to soon-to-come characters (such as Marjory and Canach). These stories were well-received by some (like me), while others hated them because for them these stories were an excuse to add lore to the game which were supposed to be told in-game. The devs listened, and stopped writing those.
Later on they introduced the Story Journal, a tool to track each step of personal story and upcoming Living World-related stories, the framework is used to this day and works like this:
- Tracks Personal Story by default, containing 8 chapters
- Tracks Living World season one summary
- Tracks Living World season two
- Tracks Heart of Thorns story
Each tab contains its chapters.
Since the stories tend to focus on Elder Dragon related stuff and sometimes the central plot rushes towards the end (Heart of Thorns arc, Eir’s part to be specific), it may make the story a bit lacking because some details go missing, and sometimes a character lacks depth or backstory (like short stories).
I would like to suggest devs add a tab to the Story Journal called “Tales”, in which they could add small side stories to add weight to the narrative, and the world itself. This idea is inspired by the short stories because I loved them so much.
I’m going to list how it would work mechanically, but I know that this may be difficult and $$$-consuming to produce, so if things are too difficult and not worth it, I’d understand. Here’s how it would work:
- One (or max. two) instance(s) that would start somewhere in the world of Tyria, with a few NPCs that make up the ambience.
- The story would not be focused on us, the player, but on some other figures or characters either well-known or random in the world.
- The instance would have voice-acting to add immersion, and maybe just one cinematic or none (if this is too expensive).
- To accommodate the player in the story as not to interfere but still make a play, depending on the story and to make sense we could be transformed into another race (don’t hate me on this, the focus is the lore anyways). The class/gear/skills/etc would be retained of course.
- Each tale would reward with (one-time only):
- 5 or 10 Achievement Points
- A Package of Tale Reader (1 Class Specific Box such as the one sold be laurel vendor, maybe 1 cosmetic stuff such as mini or back skin, and 1g)
- Each story would cost 100 gems (for revenues).
- I’d like to add one more thing for revenues, and hopefully this next suggestion is fair considering tales would be optional: additionally the Package of Tale Reader would contain 1 Tale’s Paper token, amassing tokens would lead to a vendor that sells weapon skins. (Warning! no one is forced to do these stories, it’s just another more forgiving way to profit, specially when you compare to Black Lion weapon skins)
And that’s it. I’ve attached an image of how I imagine it would look. If you have constructive and respectful feedback I’d appreciate.
Thanks!
Hello. I’m looking for a weekend raiding group (read saturday/sunday). I myself can only commit to weekends so that would be an immutable aspect of the group. My bf would also tag along with his revenant. I cleared SV a few times and play mostly Tempest and Condi Engi.
Saturdays are preferred, but sunday afternoons are ok too. I am very committed to the group and perform the best I can. I look for a group whose members are serious enough to evaluate if members are playing as intended and bring the correct meta gear, but no need for elitism at all as it only leads to a stressful atmosphere.
If you need two people for your group or want to start a new one from the ground up, please drop me a whisper/mail.

I hope one day ArenaNet will sit down and improve the forums by offering a way to “hide” a post until the OP re-write it, taking into consideration the warning. Also, the broken search…
You don’t have to create a topic for every warrior bug you find, just write them in the same topic.
RtL nerf was legendary, it wasn’t needed… just check Daredevil’s mobility.
