6 Legendaries but no title?

So people who wanted say dual dagger, and went out and made 2 incinerators (when they could have just used the second skin had they known about the wardrobe). They spent all the mats, all the time, all the energy. And in the end, it’s cost them another weapon they could have had. That’s what this title is for.

Those who made 3 or 4 legendaries have 3 or 4 legendaries. Those who made duplicate ones feel like they’re wasted time and resources.

It’s a small enough reward.

Is RNG Fun?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vayne.8563

RNG is not fun. Getting something cool you didn’t expect that’s very rare is fun.

One of the things I liked about Guild Wars 1 was there was always a chance to get a black dye and in hard mode and eye of the north, always a small chance to get a lockpick. No matter how many hours I played, I loved getting stuff like that.

There’s not quite enough stuff like that in Guild Wars 2. But that means when I do get something cool, it’s more exciting because it’s something I don’t usually get. Like a black lion key drop (which I’ve gotten 3 times).

RNG sucks if you never get anything. It’s okay if you get cool stuff occasionally. This game needs more stuff like that.

Talent is always transitive in all industries with talent. There are a lot of reasons for that. There’s always a bigger company that offers more money. Anet isn’t a huge company, and there are companies that can offer more.

There’s plenty of people who have worked for Anet since Guild Wars 1 and they’re still there. What you have to watch out for is when big lay offs happen, because that’s when companies are in trouble.

A few individuals moving (and that’s all we really know about), it’s a relatively small percentage of a 300 person company.

It’s always easiest to exaagerate in the absence of facts. Anyway, expect this thread to be closed.

Yeah, we did our research for years leading up to launch, but that didn’t protect us from the gear treadmill that was introduced shortly after launch.
The best thing you can do is to not believe anything and wait at least a year or two for the devs to keep their design philosophy(or at least the parts you care about), and then consider trusting them with your money and time.

Because a treadmill is a single new tier of gear over a period of a year. Gotcha.

Why they would choose events that bug easily I have no idea.

i like the whole bs about our character created before the patch will be grandfathered in, just checked my lvl 24 necro who i haven’t played in awhile, it’s all locked and have to buy the traits 1 at a time, chock this crap trait system up to belonging with the garbage mega server i guess and learn not to believe anet about things

It’s not bs, since all my lower level characters were grandfathered in. I’d send a bug report and make a service ticket if it hasn’t happened for you. I’ve not heard anyone else complain about this.

Actually, the issue is that your traits won’t be unlocked (even for viewing) until level 30. You don’t have to buy them, and you’ll be able to see that once you reach the appropriate level. (I think it’s stupid that we can’t even look at our traits in-game before level 30, personally.)

Yep, I agree. You should be able to see them before you can get them.

Your berserker gear is probably soulbound. If you put it in your bank you’ll never be able to take it out again. Because it would be bound to a character you deleted. Make sure nothing in your bank is soul bound before you delete all your characters.

The way it works is if you delete all characters, you keep what’s in your bank and wallet. If you have a personal guild bank, you’ll no longer be able to access that once you transfer so make sure you empty it.

Anything that’s soul bound that you can’t take with you, you can try to salvage for mats, and then replace the mats. If you have anything like unlimited gathering tools, make sure they’re off too. Don’t forget to put your bags in your bank.

Didn’t find coins that wasn’t part of the story?

Edit: clearly we consider different parts of the update to be content. The random achievements are not content for me. I care about the story and any new dungeons, zones, etc. Collecting coins around the zone aren’t something that I’m going to do. Anyway, misunderstood you I suppose.

Content isn’t just what you like. It’s content for people who like scavenger hunts. So what you say is there’s 1. 5 hours of content you like or you consider content. That’s not the same thing at all.

A lot of people do like achievements and some people do like scavenger hunts. It’s a form of content, and in fact, a traditional staple of many RPG games. Sorry you don’t like it, though.

But auto targetting is not tab targeting. Are you saying then that using ranged attacks without autotargeting means tab targetting is the most effective option. Well then you’d be right.

Which is not the same as other games were tab targetting is pretty much the only game in town.

In other words in most games you can’t use skills at all without a target. You can’t often fire off your skills in the middle of nowhere by yourself.

But, in the old days I used to run around the world and in some zones there were just not enough people. I’d do events by myself. I love playing in the open world, and I felt like I was alone.

And yet, “in the old days,” when other people would come to the forums and complain that game zones felt dead, that there were not enough people, etc you countered their perception with a claim that you did not see it the same way. You would claim that it must be the individual because the world felt alive and buzzing with players to you.

So, pre mega-server, the world had plenty of people to feel occupied to you and people complaining that Anet needed to do something and that the world felt dead were wrong.

Now, post mega-server, the pre-megaserver world seemed all but dead to you and Anet’s efforts to do something about it were the best change ever.

Nope, I never said the world was alive and buzzing with people. Most of the time I said that the people were divided a lot because there were huge zones and you could be in around the corner from people in a cave and never know it. I also said that with people in PvP,. WvW,. dungeons, personal story and LA, and then split the rest among 25 zones, at certain times of day certain areas would feel dead.

However, most of the time, even back then, if you announced in map chat that there was a champ, someone would respond.

Saying I said all the zones were buzzing is a demonstrable falsehood.

Tab targeting is an option in Guild Wars 2, not a fact of life. Even if you don’t target something and you fire at it, you’ll hit it with most weapons. There are exceptions like mesmer clones where you have to have a target, but they are just that…exceptions.

You can kill stuff easily without targeting at all. I do it all the time.

calling bs on this. If you shoot anything, most of the time it goes straight into the Dirt because #1, we never got that First-person view mode we were always begging them for, and #2, our characters are always firing about 30 degrees lower than where our cameras are looking to hit anything at range you have to obscure your view with your own character by gimbling the camera into the dirt behind them at a weird upward angle.

It may not have occured to you but lots of people in this game melee. So you can call bs all you want, but I hit things all the time without targeting them and you can’t in most games. You can also hit with a bow, but it’s a lot harder.

There’s an add on that gives you a reticule and no one has been banned for using it, but I don’t personally like it.

To a degree I think you’re right Chemiclord. They are definitely trying to make money but not for the reasons you’re stating or in the way you’re stating.

I think the thought process here is to keep people playing which keeps them buying in the cash shop, which is a steady influx of money. As opposed to people leaving and giving them no money at all until an expansion comes out.

But it’s more than that. They’re competing an in arena were everyone does the same thing. So by doing something different, they have no competition in that area. I like the 2 week content thing. I’d like an expansion as well, but I don’t think I’d like it more. It would be very exciting for a month or two and then I’d be waiting 10 months for something new.

This is better for me and people like me. Better to have some new stuff to do every two weeks for a period of time. I can’t really get that in most MMOs.

Just because this isnt specifically effecting you, doesnt mean the effects are not huge, most of these problems occur at a basic design mismatch level. Which means although the daily problems may not be every day, the design problems are huge and require big solutions to fit in the rest of the game.

i ll list some.

Guilds:

  • now the system makes people with different servers as likely or more likely to interact with other servers, and yet, server chapters have a host of hidden effects, like seperate influence tracks, guild banks, claim credit. The mismatch is, if we play together, how come we cant be in a guild together without a bunch of weird rules
  • megaservers make it harder to gather your guild on the same maps, the difficulty increases greatly the more people you have. The very design of current implementation of megaservers means you will have more difficulty on average getting 15 people or more in the same place, unless you were on a crowded server that was often in overflow before the change (this was rare for most servers, outside of special events)
    dynamic events
  • Megaservers have a huge impact on the present and future of dynamic events,
  • megaserver essentially makes it difficult to know when event is going on, or have shared experiences with anyone outside your current map. This effects every event, it means that it is harder to help/get help. Your friend can no longer tell you whats going on in a map. etc.
    • megaserver limits the scope of any dynamic event based changes, to only one map. This is huge for the possible futures of dynamic events, it means you will never see any mechanics where what happens on one map can effect another map.
    • megaserver limits the design principle of large events, making it so boss schedules (the opposite of dynamic) are the simplest solution to getting people do events together, this is because it is improbable with the new system, that players could organize to take on events since they would often end up in different instances, and would have no idea what is going on on any map until they get there.
    • megaserver means the world is no longer a dynamic place based on what players have done, every instance is different, and you can end up in any instance at any time.
  • megaserver design goes against the dynamic event chain to large super event dynamic. This effects the smaller chains that are supposed to lead up to the big events, and makes it so design wise its generally best to place these events as their own thing. This detracts from the specific map narratives, and detracts from the large events themselves.

Server Identity

  • megaservers kill the idenity of a server, servers now mean nothing of import.
    • the people on your server, you may see or you may not see
    • server specific events are virtually impossible to organize
    • any new player now, has no connection to his server at all in pve.
    • what is the point of a server now? i really cant think of any

WvW

  • the biggest effect on WvW is the destruction of server identity, this cannot be understated, Now in PVE you see people who would normally be your enemies, your friends you leveled with are sometimes your foes, The very concept of my server, means so little, how can they make it seem to matter in WvW? Without server identity, it becomes very hard to have a war versus some other server that you feel invested in.
  • recruiting and communciation

languages
all of these flaws are compounded by language differences, megaserver in general adds a layer of complexity, and unpredictability as to who you are grouped with, and what is happening in any particular map instance, as well as putting more players in every map, this makes communication even MORE necessary to solve these issues, and yet, communication is a lot more difficult with the systems in place.

Just about everything you’ve said can be seen from a different angle. For example, as someone on TC, I’m on a server people guested to all the time, so I was always running into people from other servers even before the mega server.

Some of the people expressed annoyance at feeling they had to guest. Like they couldn’t stay on their server. Like their server somehow wasn’t good enough.

I’m not going to sit and argue with you point by point, because it’s 1:18 am and even I sleep sometimes.

But I will say this. Virtually everything you said is from a specific point of view and changing that point of view changes the truth of it, as I just illustrated above.

Asia (at least China) has its own servers now. Rest of the Asia is not my concern; however, if your country’s or continent’s time zone sucks, you could choose a server as your unofficial home (like Russians selected Blacktide at the very beginning of the release) to increase your probability to find your kind of players. And why should I think about everyone with a night job or has insomnia.

For your low pop server reference:

When I created my account, I specifically picked a server with a lower population because I just plain PREFER a less crowded world. I don’t do WvW, and less crowding = less lag on my less-than-stellar Internet connection.

Now I don’t have any choice. Even in towns, which have more reason to NOT be part of the MegaServer. I have had to turn off Player Names because it’s just too crowded to see the Bank NPCs behind all the text. And I rarely attend World Boss fights anymore due to excessive lag. Framerates get all choppy, and I freeze up sometimes to the point of getting disconnected.

How about adding a Micro Server for those of us who don’t care to live in New York, and would rather move out to a farm in Hooterville?

So basically, “everyone in the low populated servers want megaserver” argument falls short.

And for new player part, I already said what is needed to be. Anet alienated most of its old, loyal players to attract new players. Also, many mid level zones are still empty as long as there is no world boss alive at that time.

It was just a joke of course they didn’t implement megaservers just for you. It is originally implement for higher-ups that wanna bath in money by decreasing the server cost, alienating the old players (negative gem sales), attracting new players (box sales+gem sales).

Right no one likes the mega server. Except that most of my guild likes it and most of my guild plays US time and I’m often awake and playing with them in their evening, my morning.

What you’re really saying is you’re inconvenienced, so everyone else must be. It’s not true. It’s not even close to true.

Yes, there are a percentage of people playing the game who don’t like it. There are a percentage of people playing the game who do like it. You don’t know any more than I do which percentage is higher, but I can tell you this much.

Anet didn’t do it just to do it. There are reasons to make that kind of change. Just don’t assume you’re part of some majority. You might not be.

Dude just because your time zone sucks now the rest of the players are all suffering -_-

However, before long ago the megaservers, players suggested an underflow system, like the old overflow one. Instead of creating new maps when a map is full, it is suggested servers that have less than x many players in a map y should be merged into the same map at that moment. Of course suggestions were more detailed (and i didn’t remember most of them), but all of the offered ones were better than megacrap (at the worst case scenario, underflow system could be equally bad as megacrap =))

My time zone sucks. And everyone in Australia and New Zealand and Asia. And everyone in the US with a night job. Or who has insomnia. Or who plays early morning before work. And people on low pop servers, who didn’t even know about guesting.

And all the new players who buy the game on sale and play and don’t see anyone in mid level zones and leave.

Unless you think Anet made this decision for me and me alone and no one else. I’m pretty sure you don’t think that.

And guess there will be an officall gvg i think it can be better esport? + how many competitive players have already quit game cuz of there is no offical gvg..

@vayne can u give any link? About anet say in officially that there would have no gvg.. Cuz i am confused.. And as anet say in ready up balance philophies.. That they say balances should include wvw(large scale) mechanics.. And as i am mesmer player.. These nerfs on mesmer class? Any way as op ask "why there is no offical gvg? Why and what anet think about it?

I may or may not be able to dig up links, but this was back before the official forum on Guild Wars 2 Guru. Anet was talking about WvW and SPvP and people asked if GvG was coming. The answer from Anet was that we don’t intend to have GvG in the game. Not at launch. Just generally.

The theory at the time was that they found in Guild Wars 1 that having so many formats of PvP split the player base too finely.

It was probably a mistake for them to think that way, but you know, hindsight is 20/20.

Please explain what the positives are that you are seeing… because everywhere I see a slight positive about mega servers I see 10x as many negatives. You are just saying you don’t see the issues we are all pointing out… which… while I don’t understand how that is possible, if that is true great… but you fail to point out what these positives are that we are benefiting from.

I’m on Tarnished Coast too. In the old days, we used to go to our server on Guild mission nights and some times some of us would end up on overflows anyway because we do guild missions prime time and sometimes big guilds were on servers we were on for missions. We’ve always had to find ways to get to the same server. What’s going on now is nothing new for us. During the Marionette fight, we couldn’t get into the home server for days at a time. People would be spamming to get in. Maybe one guildie would make it and we’d sit there and spam to get in. Maybe you don’t remember this, but I remember how frustrating it is. It’s not any different for us now.

But, in the old days I used to run around the world and in some zones there were just not enough people. I’d do events by myself. I love playing in the open world, and I felt like I was alone. NPCs are nice, but people are nicer.

So the other day, when I was at an event that people didn’t usually do in Field of Ruins and I went down, out of nowhere, someone near by picked me up. Just today I was doing a champion Wurm, and I went down and again, someone appeared to help. That didn’t always or even usually happen in the old days.

The world is alive and buzzing.

And I guess you’re not around at prime time, because the maw and the fire ele go down so amazingly fast it’s not funny. So does the wurm. The fights are pretty fast.

The redid the Shatterer so it doesnt’ go as fast, but that’s not the megaserver causing that it’s the redone fight.

People play MMOs to be with people. It doesn’t always matter what server. I like seeing people around. A lot of people do. This is an MMO. Seeing people around is your bread and butter.

So my situation with joining people on other servers hasn’t substantially changed since before the mega server, but my experience roaming the open world certainly changed.

This is particularly true if you’re not on one of the big servers, or if you play at off hours, which I often do, since I’m in Australia.

There’s a whole world of people out there who play at off hours and don’t see enough people to do stuff.

Shrugs. I was actually on the verge of taking a break from the game before the mega servers came out. The megaservers revitalized my interest in the game.

A long time ago, I thought like you. I thought that I needed to do everything myself, on my own merit. That kind of logic really doesn’t work in MMOs. I’m never going to solo Tequatl. Other players will be there attacking, healing, rezzing. That’s as it should be.

MMOs are meant to be imperfect and by attempting to perfect them, you’re missing part of the magic. Sometimes luck can be a factor in a victory, even for professionally athletes.

A ball takes a bad bounce, the wind is in a certain direction, someone slips in the outfield, anything can happen than can give you an advantage. But a team game is different from a solo game, and when I play solo games I definitely play that way..when I play games with others, I abandon that and see the game from a top down point of view. Suddenly it’s more than about just me…and that’s perfectly okay.

I don’t see this happening, whether I like the idea or not. I can’t see Anet spending time and energy on games outside the open world, where they want to see people logging in. The last thing Anet wants to do is make it so that people can play the game out of the world.

If enough people are willing to pay to pay 5 bucks to use this app Anet would drop everything they’re doing and jump right on board.

Which just about sums up the state of the game and the direction its been moving since release.

I disagree. I don’t think Anet would do it if everyone paid $5. Because the long term health of the game just isn’t worth that. And I’m not even saying it will affect the long term health of the game. But I’m thinking they’d be foolish to risk it.

biggest problem of living story 1 was being temporary content, so you can’t see 90% of the content that was added last year. gotta wait for the story journal to update and allow to replay living story 1.
Seems like a lot of resources were wasted on experimenting how to do the living story so the LS1 releases are a bit inconsistent in the amount of content delivered and less coherent when it comes to story and quality.
there should be more content coming tomorrow?

I don’t see it as a waste. This is unexplored territory for most MMOs. Anet is doing stuff no one else was doing. Not to the degree they were doing it certainly.

Since it’s never been tested, how is testing it a waste?

MMOs aren’t made for a month or even a year. They’re made for the stretch of time. Until you know what you can do, and what you can do, you pretty much can’t do anything but the same old thing.

I’m pretty sure the crew is stretched thin already. And they do have projects they’re working on. They haven’t told us what they are.

Since we don’t know what they are, it’s hard to say they’d be better or worse than the stuff you’re asking for.

  • Where they intend to go.

They need not defend themselves. Just make a statement. I’m not expecting them to answer everyone’s individual questions/concerns. But they’re currently doing nothing to alleviate concerns given.

It’s still the same as what I said. They may not have yet decided what to do. It really is that simple.

There are 300 people working or Anet. It may simply be that they don’t know yet, because they’re tossing the ideas around. For one thing, they might not all agree. They might be arguing. We don’t know and they’re certainly not going to tell us that.

This is a big game. It has a lot going on. The mega server is one part of it, but there’s still other stuff. So it goes in a queue like everything else. Game development really is a slow business.

Anet made a decision, rightly or wrongly, that this would be better for the game, even with the problems. I’m still convinced people who value server community are a minority, perhaps a vast minority. Anet is much more concerned with new people coming in during sales, playing for two days, seeing no one in zones and leaving. People play MMOs to see other people…at least many do. That problem had to be solved, or there might not eventually be a game. That’s my theory on why it was done as quickly as it was done.

Then the complaints start. Some like the RPers, represent another minority. All the concerns here are legitimate. It’s not that they’re not. But Anet may look at the percentage of people that RP and they might think…well, I’m sorry they’re hurt, but we had to do this. But again, what do they say. They can’t say we hear you and we’re working on your concerns if they’re not. They’re also not going to say we’re not, because there’s no way to phrase it that doesn’t make them sound like they don’t care. They may care and still not be able to do much about it. Keep in mind this is still all during the China launch, the living story season 1 launch, other stuff is going on.

And let’s say they did decide what to do. Maybe it will work maybe it won’t. If they say something and find it doesn’t work when they test it, now they’re lying to us. Any time they say anything that doesn’t come to pass people call them liars.

It’s entirely possible that things are being discussed and attempted that they can’t talk about for any or all of the reasons above, or even other reasons I don’t know about.

People who assume a two month silence is a long time in development, mostly likely haven’t been in development.

And I still think there are a ton of people who really love the megaserver. I think this is the best change they’ve made to the game since launch.

its not just RP, its guild issues, dynamic event megaserver mismatches, hard boss schedules, broken waypoint systems, language barriers, no meaning for servers any more and no vision for their identity.

the amount of problems it introduced, or highlighted is huge, and they havent said anything on any front.

like i have said before, its not that megaservers are horrible, its that they broke many systems, and what they put in place to handle it is weak at best, and defies the general design of the whole rest of the game.
I mean core issues
guilds
WvW
dynamic events

thats 3 huge things it all negatively impacted.

Okay, it hasn’t disrupted my guild. So you can’t just say it’s disrupted guilds with a capital G. It may well have negatively impacted your guild. I don’t seem to have the problems you do. Maybe it’s not as big a guild.

WvW may be affected but not as much as people are saying. I’m in a Tier 1 server and most of the people who jump into WvW to help out when things are tight are in WvW guilds anyway. That’s how they get their info if help is needed.

Your right it has impacted dynamic events. There are 1500 event in this game and maybe 30 are affected negatively and even that is an opinion. that means 1470 aren’t affected negatively and are often affected positively.

I play this game as much as anyone and I do not have the same problems with the megaserver that some people outline. I have some. But for me at least, the game has improved vastly. I’m not alone in this.

So the question becomes how many people are disadvantaged compared to the people who are advantaged. How many people had server pride in the first place.

I’m STILL thinking far more people are advantaged by this system and disadvantaged.

I mean for every person who says the meta events are worse, I know someone who’s happy that the bosses go down fast so they can do other stuff.

And yes, Anet did change the schedule of those events based on player feedback, so even then, they show they’re listening.

I was referring to this thread that they created for feedback on the new system, and then nothing back from them, not a word in 30 pages.

So you’re saying that changing stuff isn’t as good as them saying something in this thread.

Anet put in an update and asked for comments. They changed what they did based on comments. You come in and say they did nada.

What they didn’t do was type something on a forum. What they did do was change something people asked to be changed. I’m convinced more changes are coming but that they’ll take time.

Why not say something? Possibly because they’re trying a variety of things and don’t want to talk about stuff they can’t do.

Why no GvG ANet?

Anet launched the game saying there would be no GvG in the game. I think they’re probably looking at it now, but it was well known before launch that would not be part of the game.

I can’t say why that is, but we can theorize that in Guild Wars 1, though there was a hard core population of people into it, most players weren’t. They didn’t want to spend resources designing something up front that most people wouldn’t use, even though some were passionate about it. As I said, that’s just a guess though.

All of which is odd as they also indicated that they wanted GW2 to be an e-sport, something that is poorly supported by the current implementation.

Well, maybe they thought the current implementation would work better, and they’re invested in it so heavily they can’t just walk away. Like everything else it’s a business decision. You think GvG would make it a better esport. It might, it might not. It’s not your money that’s riding on the result, so it’s easy to say they should do it.

But in reality I’m sure they have people working for them who think it’s a good idea and people working for them who don’t. In any event, they did say straight out it wouldn’t be in the game. That’s my point.

But now, of course, that anything is on the table, it could be changing.

I am not saying that they should do it. I believe that the e-sport ship has sailed at this point.

I do think that GvG would have made a better e-sport.

I actually think they should do it, as long as it doesn’t get dragged into PvE somehow. By the same token it may be too late to do it.

So my husband and I rolled new characters because he wanted to try a new profession, and I wanted to level with him and recapture the fun of it. We had 80s already so we had an instant-20 scroll thing, then a few tome of knowledge for a couple more freebie levels. Bought same level green gear, and set out.

The first thing I noticed about leveling with no traits at the point we were both used to getting them on low characters is how weak you feel. And yes, this is coming from someone with geared 80s, but I’m not comparing a downleveled state of ability, I’m comparing the old leveling process to the new one. I already had one of each profession, so I know what it was like to level them originally, without good gear, but with traits. Now I still don’t have good gear (blues/greens, no special runes/sigils) but no traits.

Ok, so we went off to try and unlock a few. At this point, the easiest are probably the eotm ones, because you can join a karma train and in maybe half an hour to an hour get those three. Obsidian sanctum isn’t too bad either (if you’re ok at jumping puzzles) since even on my server (Blackgate) people generally are in OS to gvg or get their box, they don’t really care about ganking someone else.

But the rest of the traits? I hope you have a small army at your beck and call. Or that you have ample time to sit around and wait for an event to kick off. We tried just getting some of the adept traits, since we’re in our 40s and have that tier opened. Impossible, even with two of us. WHY would adept trait line traits be for boss events in a level 50 zone? WHY?

I don’t want to spend skill points and in game money to buy them. Yeah, I have 80s, but I’m not rich. I’m not sitting on a thousand gold like some, where I can just throw money at it and buy all 13 traits for all 5 trees.

So, tl;dr, it’s not fun. When it’s supposed to be fun to level. You can leave it at an unlock system, but change the location to something more appropriate. You open up the adept tier at 30? So make the adept traits all unlock in a level 30-40 zone. I don’t mind petitioning the zone for help to kill a champ, at least with the megaserver it means there’s always someone else around. But why it’s 20 levels higher than it should be is just mindboggling. Unless the whole point was to expect people to craft/tome their way to 80, buy gear and THEN go back and grind out their traits. At which point, I wonder what you were thinking, because that’s even less fun.

Very disappointed.

Exactly what I was saying, and odd how many pages on a thread that Anet asked for feedback and got tons all basically saying the same, yet nada from them……

Don’t know if you can say nada, since they did make major changes to some of the trait unlocks based on feedback. Like all the mid level vanquishes they used to have. And for all anyone knows, they’re working on more changes.

Maybe have the commander icon be yellow to signify they’re from your guild. I’m not sure how valuable that would be.

I think there should be a guild commander tag that only your guild could see for guild missions. It would save having 87 commanders on a map at certain times.

Major Griefing During Guild Puzzle

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vayne.8563

Vayne.8563

Umm, no, this is griefing. This is a person joining a guild mission and then performing something that prevents a guild from doing their mission and completing it with absolutely no benefit to themselves at all. There is no reason to do this other than to grief the guild. And we tried it more than one time, and other guilds have to. This is intentional. Someone is camping that puzzle just to screw entire guilds over.

It shouldn’t be possible.

…Oh but there is a benifit!
pleasure

There’s no in game benefit, as in no reward in game. Now if someone gets pleasure out of ruining say 50 or 60 peoples fun without gaining so much as an achievement point for it, I wouldn’t personally want a person like that in the community. And I’m pretty sure most other people wouldn’t either.

For the record, I was in no way condoning this behaviour and I myself don’t find it funny, jut saying some people are jaguars like that and you should not be surprised.

Oh, I’m not surprised. This isn’t my first rodeo. I’m not even particularly annoyed by it. It’ll get fixed. But by making the issue public it puts people on alert to look for it.

Why can't I play this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vayne.8563

Chess is boring for some people. Baseball is boring for some people. WoW is boring for some people. Guild Wars 2 is boring for some people.

That doesn’t make it boring. It certainly doesn’t mean the format doesn’t hold up. It might, however, mean that you and it aren’t compatible.

And that’s okay.

I agree with you but it doesnt change the fact that those games and sports have alot of depth which Gw2 surprisingly lacks

I don’t know about that. I see depth in Guild Wars 2. You don’t. I don’t get depth from skill use. I get depth from exploring the hidden areas of the world and finding stuff I’ve never seen before. Piecing together the clues of what’s happening in the story. It’s a different type of depth. That doesn’t mean it’s not depth.

Saying there’s no depth means that people who have played this game for a couple of thousand hours or more are somehow less than you are. Because the game has no depth. I assure you some people have found depth in this game.

But you know, one man’s puddle is another man’s ocean.

Exactly. I thought it was going to lean more to the traditional MMORPG format but it is more kind of an adventure game that doesnt necessarily reward you all that much. Sure its fun and all to explore and such but those things also get boring even in games like lets say Skyrim. What’s expected from me in GW2 is just a tad more taste to the meat of the bone (which there is certainly plenty of) if you understand my meaning

I understand your meaning. You apparently don’t understand mine. This game has MORE meat on the bone than say something like WoW for a player with my play style. What you expected was stale old, boring MMO stuff that everyone’s done to death and many people don’t care about anymore.

This game was advertised as something that was breaking traditional MMO tropes, it’s why many came here. WoW bored me to tears. If you enjoy it more power to you.

Yeah, griefing sure is horrible, huh? Just imagine, somebody intentionally trying to give you a hard time in-game. Awful! No reason for that! Except…

How Do We Report Guild Puzzle Trolling?

this sounds funny!

Well, i’d say people has the ability to do what ever them want in this game. It’s not breaking game agreement for doing such of a thing in open public area. If your guild event is more organized, I don’t think this kind of thing would happen. Consider about yourself before blame the others.

So, I guess griefing is only bad when it happens to you?

1st, please don’t bring something from different topic to this one.
Also, the situation is totally different, guild JP is in public area but FOTM is a instance area.
And also, if you don’t like the people who did that troll on you, you should ask for a better system, such as make the guild JP into a instance, but not to punish someone doing any action in public area.

It may be a public area, but people are using a feature of the game to kick you. You don’t like the result so you come to complain. But when someone else complains that someone else is preventing their progression, that’s not acceptable.

Sounds a bit like a double standard to me.

Well, that’s what I was talking about. yes, they are using a feature of the game to kick me. But thats a bad feature.
One of the bad point is that when you kick a person from group, the is no decline to kick. This will leads people who don’t like to see the bar just click ok.

That also why I said "Make penalty for this or change your LFG system! "

Right, but those people are doing what they want to do. You don’t seem to have a problem with other people doing what they want to do, people who are actually inconveniencing far more than just you.

One guy inconveniences 50 people in a guild for no real reason, and that’s okay. Two guys kick just you and that’s a problem.

Ha, thats funny, "One guy inconveniences 50 people in a guild for no real reason, and that’s okay. Two guys kick just you and that’s a problem. " If you define inconveniences for more people is worse than for one people, then thats the biggest joke I had been heard this year. The idea behind it is just “kill one people save more”. Everyone has their ability to live in the world. No matter how many people you have.
I was trying to confine the discussion to the matter at the issue, but you are just trying to bring the argument which comes out with no logic.

I’m saying it’s far more likely two people had a reason to kick you, than one person has a reason for ruining a puzzle for a bunch of other people.

In fact, we only have your word that you were kicked for no reason. We don’t even know what happened. For all we know, you were kicked for something you said, or something you did. You’re assuming they kicked you for no reason, but you don’t even know who they are to ask.

On the other hand, with the jumping puzzle, there is no reason for someone to bug it out. How’s that for logic?

Again, please don’t bring other forum topic for this.

And, No, of course there are reasons behind. It’s the kick for their selve’s benefits. That why it need to be punished. If you read my form carefully, “more than one people from the same guild”. That means the reason they kick you are , “they are another person want to come and take the benefit you made”, “we are stack, we need another person to pass it but i want kick my guild mate even he is the worst.”

Also, if someone bug your JP out, it’s Anet need to fix it, not the person’s fault.

Sorry but there’s no logic to this. First, you’re just assuming it’s for their benefit. You don’t know. Maybe they felt you were a hindrance to the team. Maybe you said something that offended them. No one has anything but your word about why they did it.

Again, with the jumping puzzle, if someone deliberately breaks the game so that people can’t continue they are in violation of the terms of service. This isn’t something that can be done accidentally. We know what they’re doing and how. It’s something that is deliberate sabotage. They do it to grief. It’s against the rules. There’s no way anyone could logically say it should be allowed.
