I imagine when they say they’re adding more ascended items that they will also be adding more to the Fractals themselves, you can’t expect them to have new rewards for every few levels of fractals pop up, and you also can’t expect the reward at level 30 to be too crazy awesome because someday the majority of players will be level 30+. It’s safe to assume that more ascended gear will become available at higher levels and that will be included in an upcoming patch.

They’ve already said they will be adding more ascended gear with more ways to get it, and we know they’ll continue balancing things like this. Why all of this doomsaying? It killed GW2, really? It’s not dead, and that won’t kill it. All of the freaking out on the forums over ascended gear is really getting ridiculous.

Why get so worked up about it? They gave their reason for the new tier of gear, move on. It’s one tier. They have already said they will be adding a lot more ascended gear and many more ways to get it. How do you guys benefit from getting so worked up about it and just generally freaking out 24/7 on the forums? I don’t get it.

Oh noes, I can’t pay attention to what items are actually marked as discounts and I don’t understand the concept of bulk discount!

I agree. It’d be nice to have more town clothes and aesthetic items, not only in the shop but also from drops, bosses, etc.

Two things just by skimming your post.. Firstly, you don’t appear to know what MMO means. Second, what is wrong with people being more spread out and high level zones not being the only useful zone to level 80s? Wouldn’t it be better for people to be more spread out and for all zones to be more useful?

This is really getting old. Yes, it used to be far worse than it is now, but it is still affected people far too much. I can’t even sell a couple bags worth of goods without getting locked for a bit, and then when it goes away seems random. Sometimes not doing anything makes it go away, sometimes selling another item makes it go away. I should be able to at least sell an inventory of my stuff without getting the error. It’s bad enough being a normal player, but for those of us who also like to play the trading post, it gets old very, very quickly.

I like that Arena Net is trying real hard to reduce bots in the trading post, but when it’s affecting normal players it’s too strong.

I’ve had at least one teleport in both Level 1 and 2, so it’s definitely not level related. It kind of sucks, because it makes me feel responsible for the death of those cute super model human girls. :[

The question has >never< been whether or not we can survive almost anything. That was never part of the argument, no one ever doubted that. People seem to completely misunderstand the actual argument about Mesmers being bad in PvE and this is why these arguments go no where, people don’t take the time to actually read what is being said and understand it before they just start replying away and stroking their kitten.

The problem is that we have no instant AoE damage that can tag mobs in packed events where they are going down in one second, and that we take much longer to kill mobs than other classes in exchange for survivability. Survivability is great, but we’re at a severe disadvantage when other classes can drop mobs at severely faster speeds with far less effort.

Turning the game into a WoW clone is not making it unique. Gear treadmills are not unique. Gear checks are not unique. Being forced to run dungeons for the best gear so you can remain competitive in WvW is not unique.

Rather than trying to turn GW2 into WoW, instead of allowing it to follow in the footsteps of its successful predecessor and ACTUALLY be unique, why not play a WoW clone on the side and stop trying to destroy this game? It would be fun if the content locusts were to just play the game for itself instead of demanding more and more stats and content constantly, forcing Anet to push rushed attempts to appease them like this.

We bought the game knowing exactly what kind of game it was- the manifesto told us what it was. It’s the WoW fans who want to turn it into something else.

There is no treadmill. You and most of the people on this forum seem to think adding one tier of gear means it will become a treadmill, it’s not. Stop being a doomsayer. It gets old real quick.

For some reason, groups either find it impossible or very simple/easy. My first fractal run had Swamplands as our third fractal and it was absolutely impossible. We had fast classes using haste, I was a mesmer trying to use portal (which did not work for some reason), it just couldn’t happen after over an hour of trying.

I agree, much lower respawns would be great. Not only for exploration but just in general. It would increase how much people move around the zone and explore if you could actually wipe out a spawn and have to wait for things to start respawning. This obviously wouldn’t work for heart-related mobs, the respawn system would have to be smart about it.

It may be one gear now, but when all the QQers get those Ascended, they will complain more. What will Anet do then? Add another tier of item. This is how gear-treadmill happens. kitten like this happened alot of time on others mmo, and Im afraid it will happen on GW2 as well.

If Anet was going to add more dungeons, that floating castle would be a great place for one.

I’m a paying customer too. I love the idea of one-time events, and even though I only got to participate in part of this weekend’s event, I still loved it. I would love the idea of special one-time events even if I couldn’t participate, because at least others got to participate and I can read about it later. I guess I’m just not a whiny, selfish person.

I’d also like to hear more opinions on this, as I am also a Mesmer.. sure, we have PvP, and survivability, but nothing where it counts for getting gold or gear. I’ve been slowly leveling an Engineer for this but I’m not positive if that’s the best choice or not, and I’d prefer to just level up the >best<, most efficient tagging/farming/dungeon class there is.

I have never had a problem getting gold in even the most populated DEs in Orr. (Plinx chain, Arah defense, Grenth chain). Phantasmal Berserker and Phantasmal Warden + blurred frenzy generally do a pretty good job at mob tagging. I also use sigils of fire for a bit more AoE (albeit random).

It takes time to summon those phantasms. I don’t know what kind of populated events you’re participating in, but when events are populated on my server, mobs go down before I have the time to summon phantasms, let alone for them to start tagging mobs. Without some kind of instant damage AoEs, we cannot compete in populated events, such as this weekend’s event which had about ~50 some people in it on most servers.

Could we >please< get some clarification on loot before the weekend is entirely over? >.<’

I still haven’t experienced any lag. Are you guys sure it’s not just crappy FPS on bad computers with settings too high or something? It’s actual >connection< problems, server lag, etc?

I’d also like to know this, and it really needs confirmed before the weekend is over so we know whether or not it’s worth dedicating time to farm it.

Based on what the NPCs said, I would assume Camp Karka, since we’re waiting for the Consortium group to catch up. I’d guess we go to Camp Karka, they still don’t show up, and the Lionguard go looking for them.

Goes to show how people don’t pay any attention to the NPCs, or just have no problem solving skills. The NPCs made it very clear that we were waiting at Camp Karka for the other team (the Consortium team) to catch up before moving on. I would bet all my gold that Camp Karka is where it will begin.

I’m glad it’s difficult, I hope they continue to add zones with good difficulty that take either skill, strategy, or groups. It makes it fun and not just a mob farm.

Grind mode? If you think having the >option< to put in some effort for fancy gear, that is not required to enjoy the content, is “grind mode”, you, sir, have never played a game with real grind. And this is the wrong section to complain about your imagined “grinding” in.

From the young ones or only veterans? Someone on my overflow looted a River Drake pet from a veteran, but is it only veterans, or normal karka too?

This got pushed down pretty quick, but I think it’d be a valuable bit of information if someone could clarify how the loot works. :<

I read somewhere that the items in the consortium chest could also be found rarely on the mobs in this weekend’s event. Can anyone clarify this a bit more? Can they only drop from mobs in the one-time events, or any karka over the weekend? What is there chance of dropping? Anything to further clarify this would be nice.

Known info so far: Consortium Chest loot can be dropped by Veteran Karka (confirmed). Unknown if they can drop from normal Karka.

They had to be killed twice because the first time around you knocked off their armor shell, the second time they became much easier to kill.

I’ve not had any lag during any of these events. Are you sure it’s server lag and not just crappy FPS?

Why don’t people just calm down until the devs clear things up? No reason complaining and freaking out, don’t get yourself so worked up over an event in a game.

WoW became a game for the extremely super-casual who wanted things handed to them with little to no effort. Many people in GW2 are refugees from this crime that Activision committed, and no one wants this game to be too easy. Those who do want games to be super easy should play WoW, as they cater to that idea now.

Basically, its not something you even need to ask. Modifiying the game in any way is illegal as well as using any automation tools. Whether they can detect it or not is another story. I’m not sure they even care. I see bots all over the world all day long. I report them and days later they are still in the same spot doing the same thing.

Considering this is only for sending text, and it’s something I can do even without a GUI overlay, I’d like to wait for an official response. Yes, it automates typing to an extent, but you honestly cannot compare that to modifying the game or bots.

I’m working on an autohotkey tool that will create an ‘overlay’ of sorts using the Always On Top property. The tool will simply be for text message macros, such as emotes (though it’s purpose will be much more useful than that, it’s just an example). What I’m wondering is, is this considered a third party program? Will it be detected as such by the game, if there is any kind of detection for third party software? I just want to make sure it’s perfectly fine before I dedicate much time to it.

I think part of the solution to queue times is pretty obvious, and it is something The Secret World has done, and the infrastructure already exists in GW2:

1. Combine the PvE aspect of the game so everyone on every server plays in the same world, and use multiple overflow servers to handle the combined populations. 100% open access and interaction for everyone in the game.

2. Make WvW “teams” instead of “servers.” ArenaNet should use their data to compile the maximum size of a WvW Team (say 5,000 players?), and allow the players to choose the team they want to be on. Maybe even give guilds a priority so they can organize on the same team.

Obvious Fix = Completely remake huge parts of the game

Many people don’t seem to realize that however successful they think they’ve been with Mesmer in PvE, and however much they think their kitten is growing by talking about it, that we still cannot, with any amount of skill, compete with other classes in PvE, either single target or AoE damage.

I was not aware 100% of players were queued for WvW 24/7. That is what you’re using in your ‘math’ here, right?

As someone else said, it’s easy to whine, another to offer constructive criticism. The only thing they can do is add more maps, which would take time. Queues on Blackgate have not been bad even during peak time, and even when they are over ten minutes wait, I doubt even a couple hours queue would be enough to make people leave the game entirely. Let’s not exaggerate, there’s enough of that on gaming forums already.

As mentioned already, yes it is PvP. And no one said WvW was fair, since when is open war ever fair? If you’re the underdog, find a way to beat them, don’t mope and whine on the forums about unfairness.

You can’t just “fight better” when one server has 24/7 activity and both other servers have around 5-8 hours of activity a day. Blackgate is in this same situation with Gates of Madness and Crystal Desert. CD takes over all four maps, completely, over night, and it makes it difficult to get them back when we actually have a full force. Even when we do, we’re already extremely behind on points and it is impossible to catch up.

I am not sure what you’re doing that makes Mesmers “great” in PvE. We’re able to kill stuff, even several at the same time, but you better have some tea and a snack because there’s nothing quick and easy about PvE as a Mesmer. We kill stuff much, much slower than every other class in the game, by quite a bit, and we also have the worst AoE. We can barely tag half the mobs in your average dynamic event without putting a lot of effort into it.
