Pretty difficult to like logging into a game that content wise is almost identical to how it was when you bought it over a year and a half ago.

But that’s what I’m trying to understand. There was a ton of new content added as part of the Living World. People complained. We are in a period right now where new content is not available. People are still complaining.

What is it exactly that people want ANET to do where every player says “Yes! Jackpot! This is what I’ve been looking for!”

No no, YOU played through the destruction of LA, I got a very poor exposition of content. They changed so much in the game, yet the feeling is that nothing has been added to the game since launch in terms of PVE. Everything is temporary and gone long before I have an opportunity to play and enjoy.

Are you saying that you’d rather be happy with a never changing static world that looks and feels the same EVERY time you log in? O_o Does that not sound boring to you… ?

I’ve seen people try and twist others words pretty hard before, but I think you take the cake. You took what he was saying, did a 180 with it and then added in your own statements just for the heck of it. Bravo, that gave me whiplash.

You seem really unhappy about that. I take it you hate temporary content as well.

So, back when I purchased GW 2 3 days before launch, arena net promised there would be no treadmills. So I got all my exotic set and kept playing until they added fractals. Now fractals was alright, but the dungeon had 40 levels or so, speak about a treadmill! (and imagine, repeating the same easy content over and over is not what I consider fun, I stopped at level 9 never to try it again).

I guess you DO find it boring. So you don’t want repeatable content, but you’re unhappy when content is removed… what exactly is it that you’re expecting from GW2?

Vesuvius, if you look at the post history of those complaining loudest about the QD train’s death, you’ll see they haven’t been particularly active here. At least not in posting.

So it’s entirely possible they never saw how much and how long we begged for them to kill it.

Quite possibly true for the forums, but remember they have access to everything that happens in game, and I mean the world chat messages. Not hard to see the amount of vitriol in there.

Time to take a break in this game.

I’m unsure what’s preventing players from playing “the way they want to play”. Is everyone being forced to play a certain way? Am I the only one playing the way I want? :S

Well, it’s kinda hard doing a train for champs in QD without, you know, the champs.

Anet said. BAD PLAYERS! DOING THINGS THAT WE DON’T WANT!

And poof, the train is gone crushed by the allmighty nerfhammer.

Did you miss all the posts on these forums where the players were complaining about the QD train? You think maybe, just maybe, that had something to do with the nerf? If ANET didn’t want you to farm champs at all, why did they leave every champion in the rest of Tyria out of this? :S

No biggy, ask the NPC:

-Hey WTF happened dude?
(NPC shows you a big explosion, says there were a few bad guys)
- Dude, WTF happened?
no further explanation or interactive gameplay, exactly like that dumb Theramore lazy event that made me quit wow forever.

Yeah. I see your point here. More detailed exposition would be nice.

In game maybe a bit more information on this would be helpful for the new players or those that simply missed it. The wiki does explain everything though and that information isn’t hard to find. However, imagine having to explain everything the wiki does in game. That would be a lot of text to read in game.

Nope, never heard of that, things change and the game gives you no clue, it is a massive world and ANET doesn’t care about telling you what’s new, sorry but I’m not going back to every zone in the game I’ve finished to just check if they changed something there.

Really? Nothing in game tells you what’s new? Were you the only one that didn’t get the in-game mail?

Go here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Festival_of_the_Four_Winds

I guess people are finding joy in the misery of those that made Queensdale miserable for the new players.

See, and i don’t understand that perspective. If you believe that, then you also have to believe that ALL the players running QD train were miserable towards new players.

Perhaps you misunderstood what I said. If you read my post again, you will see that I wrote that people are happy in the misery of only those that made Queensdale miserable for new players (not necessarily everyone that was part of the train). I too ran the QD train. By your logic then, I’m berating myself. That is not the case. There were a lot of nice people doing the train. It’s the immature people part of the train who abused new players that screwed this up for everyone else. They were the minority and they messed it up for everyone.

Sounds like a lot of other things going on in the world today…

New players that didn’t know of the existence of the train would kill a champ “out of order” and that annoyed the train. The train then went on this non-stop verbal spree abusing the new players. Definitely don’t want that happening.

New players in Queesndale would be hard pressed to take down a champ on their own. Very hard pressed. From my experience the verbal arguments came from experienced players purposely disrupting the train. Even then, most train regulars just ignored them.

Not saying that a single new player can take on a champ (they can try :P ) but really in a game like GW2 and especially so after megaservers, no one’s really fighting alone. If a single player is attempting to take on a champ, there’s bound to be someone that’ll end up helping the new guy. Before you know it, there’s a decent sized group taking on the champ and actually taking it out. I’ve done this myself where if I see someone struggling to beat something, I join in the fray.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the train too. After a long day at work, I enjoyed some mindless zerging. But the hate and vitriol caused by it was not worth it. The new players and the entire community is better off without it.

THANK YOU ANET!!!

Maybe now these people will have to play the game instead.

While I’m not a fan of the trains….this is a pretty ignorant thing to say. People were playing, as they wanted to. Just because its not your way, doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s. Some people like farming that way and some trains had quite a social aspect to them that I know people who enjoyed that aspect.
I did not like the trains, so you know what I did? Nothing and didn’t join them. Why go the extra step to bash other people for doing something that affects you in no way?

The problem is that the train’s existence caused new players a lot of problems. New players that didn’t know of the existence of the train would kill a champ “out of order” and that annoyed the train. The train then went on this non-stop verbal spree abusing the new players. Definitely don’t want that happening.

The game is not thoroughly tested

Vesuvius.9874

Problem is Anet doesn’t test any of it. They design, look at it for about 10 seconds and then put it in the game we the players test it. (This does not include the quality of the content itself either) I’ve based this opinion on the need to patch every single thing they put in (even with months of “making sure its correct”) and mostly within that day if not a hour or two of the updates going live. (Again does not include the quality of the content aka story or new mechanics they add which have problems their own)

Have you come across ANY piece of software that has NEVER had any bug fix updates to it?

I’ve seen a lot of software that never had any bug fixes at all. Software with no bugs to fix however is a different matter.

That’s what I meant :P basically every piece of software has bugs. There is no such thing as bug free software.

What people need to realize is that to blame ANet for buggy software and that they don’t test enough is stupidity. Before anyone comes out to say that I don’t know what I’m talking about, please know that I write and test software for a living.

If that’s the case, there are plenty of real world chores you should take a look at. A warning though, you probably won’t be able to use any buffs of swiftness to run through them.

what we’re asking for is out of combat switching, something we’re doing anyway, we just would like it to be a little easier. Is that so “out of balance”?

Any one that doesn’t play ele/eng will argue against the inclusion of this simple feature. Because they haven’t played these professions, they don’t understand what the underlying issue is. They will keep arguing for the sake of arguing.

I play both – I don’t find having one weapon a problem. How would you argue with me – I have 1 of every profession…..

Do you EVER switch weapons? If so, how do you switch them? Please explain to me and everyone here in specific steps how you go about switching weapons on your ele or eng.

I don’t feel the need to switch so I don’t. How about that.

And that’s precisely the problem with your arguments. Just because you don’t feel the need to switch doesn’t mean no one else does. A lot of players find this lack of switching frustrating and that’s why they’re asking for it. You can’t expect everyone to play like you. You have your own play style and you are happy with it. Good for you. Other players are unhappy with that play style and are politely requesting it to be changed. Please don’t get in their way.

Anyways, nice to see the game growing and a large part of the world enjoying the same game that we do. I hope to party again with newest members of the GW2 community.

That would be too hard to implement and I can see that there would be a huge exploit issue. NO

It is the truth – when A.Net brought in the Ursan skill, they thought it would be a hard skill to use and situational. It was exploited for 6 months before it was nerfed into oblivion.

All players want a balanced game but the balance HAS to be in their favor not others. This whole issue smacks of that exact attitude.

I bet the ursan skill was also the reason why dyes are characterbound and that will never be changed, and why you have to buy each skin again and again for every character … and that will never change .. because .. it can be exploited thanks to the ursan skill (whatever the heck that is .. but hey .. a reason for things that will never happen)

Ahh … and now we also now why we will NEVER EVER get trait templates .. because of the Ursan Skill !!!!

Ursan Skill = 42 !!

It’s also the reason why we will never have mounts or go to Cantha

Skills are different than dyes. The more ridiculous your statements are, the more people realize you never really think about anything other than, "I WANT THIS!!’ That is not a reason.

I have given plausible explanations and then my reasons are belittled. Nice argument. Please learn how to debate. Making fun or belittling just takes away from your arguments.

Except you’re the one avoiding questions in this debate. See below:

I get that its out of combat, still that give a advantage to the Ele that now have a lot more choice of skill during each battle.

All that’s being asked for is to shortcut the hassle of opening up your inventory and equipping a different weapon. How exactly does having a shortcut for this give an advantage?

That would be too hard to implement and I can see that there would be a huge exploit issue. NO

People are only reading builds that have been released on various build calculators, not trying it on their own. An example of this is Sceptre/Pistol mesmers are supposed to be bad but I have figured out a build where they are not bad but actually work really well. Unless you have tried it, HOW DO YOU KNOW?

Why would it be too hard to implement? And what exploit issue are you talking about? Why are you even talking about builds… ? That’s not what this thread is even about…

You made all those claims and never backed them up or answered when asked about them.

Why can’t anyone at least READ THE FIRST POST before you start to post unrelated stuff ???

It was asked to SWAP weapons OUT OF COMBAT … so its just that you don’t have the hazzle with inventory management.

And i’m all for it .. it plain sucks if i use a staff and want to change to Scepter/Dagger and after that there is a free space in my invisible bag, so that i have to fill it with salvage kit or any other junk that i can’t sale for accident, and when i want to change again i first have again to move that into a normal bag, so that i have again space for 2 weapons.

And for Ele AA .. on Scepter Fire also is bad .. so Lightning is the only decent.

THIS! Agreed 2000%! Some people just need to learn to take a moment and read before blurting out garbage.

I put Cantha in the same category as mounts. It’s a dead horse and it’s not happening. The story of GW2 is centered around dragons most of whom are based in Tyria (Primordus, Jormag, Kralkatorrik, Zhaitan, and Mordremoth). We’ll most likely see Elona long before Cantha because of Kralkatorrik. The only missing dragon is the deep sea dragon and I doubt ANet will open access to Cantha for that one dragon when we have 4 other dragons to contend with right here in Tyria.

Considering the numerous contested way points now, I’m for mounts. Way too much mindless, joyless, and time wasted running.

Megaservers have effectively eliminated that problem.

We have to build our character’s, our cities, our our personal space. Not define them by “lulz.. kitten .. we’z kill’d that.”

You sound like you want to play Sim City where you build stuff and there’s no storyline whatsoever. Guild Wars is not Sim City.

In my head, I envision them slowly letting Cantha bleed into the LS through the Zephyrites and their journeys. If only Elona had a similar way of infiltrating the LS, I could rest easy

The Zephyrites have nothing to do with Cantha…

Actually the fact that they trade with Cantha, have heavily Canthan inspired architecture, and that some of them are of Canthan descent suggests that they do…

They also have links to Glint and the Brotherhood of the Dragon which is all Tyrian in origin so they’re not exclusively Canthan. They may have links to Cantha but suggesting that the arrival of the Zephyrites points to the story moving to Cantha is most likely wrong.

Legendary Armor: Yes or No?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vesuvius.9874

Make it 10 times as hard to get legendary armor than it is to get ascended.

The only thing that is hard in getting ascended items is to motivate yourself to do ridiculously easy tasks over and over and over again.

How would you make farming ressources ten times harder? If it means ten times more ressources, it would be just ten time grindier. Impressive! That sounds like a real achievement. You should also get titles like:

Legendary Lumberjack, Nemesis of the Ancient Wood Log
Legendary Miner, Destroyer of Ores
etc.

What in your opinion constitutes as being legendary then? What in your opinion would make something legendary?
