Great question! Those with disabilities are often overlooked when it comes to UI development both in games and business applications. If ANET hasn’t already developed features to address this, they really should.
I’ m confused what the issue is here, if the double daily fracs appear and you don’t like fracs – why not just do wvw or pvp dailies? You may not enjoy them but you need to remember what AP are – ‘Achievement points’. Doing things you enjoy and/or take under 10mins isn’t really achieving much (Vista and gathering/mining/logging dailies for example) – so what’s the problem with pve dailies being challenging every now and then? If you still don’t want to do the fracs, or can’t be bothered to spend 15-30 mins getting pvp/wvw dailies then you really don’t deserve those points.
From how I see it, it’s not Anet’s problem, it’s not the game’s problem – it’s your problem. Deal with it.
Case in point —example of community divided and rude.
You forgot to mention a community that feels entitled to everything.
So let me see if I’ve understood you correctly. You first box yourself into this hole that leaves you with only a handful of choices, then you complain that you don’t have enough choices. Is that correct?
So let me see if I’ve understood you correctly. Your argument is that I shouldn’t have choices that I actually enjoy doing?
I thought this was a game, made for entertainment. Silly me.
You have choices. You just refuse to do them. That’s not ANET’s fault. It’s yours; especially after you narrowed down the available choices yourself.
Except that was the point of the dailies since day one. It might have lost that spirit somewhere along the way but the idea was that ANET doesn’t want you going out of your way to do things to get the daily rewards. The rewards were something you were supposed to get as part of your normal course of play. So if you got them “by accident”, that was ANET’s intention.
Reminding you of your own words, here.
Try actually reading my post this time before quoting it. I said “normal course of play”. You selectively trying to do/avoid things is not normal course of play.
Actually you said, “your normal course of play.” You also said that Anet didnt want people going out of their way to do dailies. If the normal course of someone’s play involved open world content then anything else would be out of their way.
To me, an example of normal course of play means going to any map and participating in dynamic events. If foraging plants on the way from event to event results in me getting the daily reward for it, then great. Or if I’m helping a friend get something done and that somehow results in a different daily reward.
Compare this to, “OK, I have 30 minutes before I have to go to bed, let me see what options are available in the dailies? Hmm Daily Forager. OK I’ll go grab the Spinach in Gendarran Fields. Check. Whats next?” This isn’t normal course of play for me because I’m going to Gendarran specifically to get Spinach for the daily reward. It’s like going through a checklist of chores. A LOT of people do this and then complain they don’t have enough diversity in these chores.
So let me see if I’ve understood you correctly. You first box yourself into this hole that leaves you with only a handful of choices, then you complain that you don’t have enough choices. Is that correct?

I’ve given PvP its fair shake in several forms over several types of games.
I’ve tried enough WvW and PvP to know that they’re no different than in the other MMO’s I’ve tried them in. WoW, TOR, Runescape, it’s all the same. Only needed to have WvWer’s laugh at my dead corpse once to know I want nothing to do with that horrible community.
Fractals? Tried a few of those too. Can’t say I’ve found them too fun.
So let me see if I’ve understood you correctly. You first box yourself into this hole that leaves you with only a handful of choices, then you complain that you don’t have enough choices. Is that correct?
I always feel a little dirty when i get one of those dailies by accident.

Crystallize seems to be the only one here with the ability to think rationally and logically.
If that’s what you call rational or logical, I hate to see what your version of crazy is.
You must be one of those people scared of change and trying something different.
Crystallize seems to be the only one here with the ability to think rationally and logically.
I don’t because I don’t grind.
For dungeon achievements, it should show which paths have/haven’t been completed for a given dungeon. Right now it just says 2/4 completed and I have no idea which 2 were completed and which ones weren’t.
If it hasn’t been programmed in already, it’s too late to program it now. Even the simplest changes take a month to do and test and this wouldn’t be a simple change. People don’t seem to have a clue how programming something like this game actually works.
+1’d this because I am a developer. I would add that it is either too late or too expensive at this point to make changes.
Also, I’d rather they be focusing on HoT right now.
-1 My dad works at Nintendo. He is a developer as well and he told me you’re wrong.
How about we let the ACTUAL developers give us facts about the development size & time frame? I’m sick and tired of people being their own experts.
Sorry but I don’t believe you. I’ve talked to too many developers for too many years to believe this. Too many developers have weighed on this forum. We have developers in my guild. Hell we’ve had Anet employees in my guild and we’ve spoken to them.
You can want what you want all you want…but it’s not going to happen.
Thank you Vayne. Your post about sums it up. Everyone else, feel free to continue speculating about the what ifs.
It takes them about four months to create things like you’re suggesting. I’d rather not have them stop everything for four months … I want HoT before then!
It takes them a LOT less time to develop a quadrant a time, with additional events to accompany them.
You’re saying that making a WHOLE city takes less time then adding a QUARTER of a city with some events to go with them?
I beg to differ.
I’m sick and tired of people being their own experts.
Yeah me too. Really sick and tired of people being their own experts. Good job shooting yourself in the foot.

I actually asked them in their Facebook if this ended up being the “surprise” they had for this week and all i got was a snarky comment from Rubi Bayer saying that they’ll only show specs when they’re ready.
That was actually me.
I sign my posts with RB. Rubi signs her posts with RB2.
What you asked was whether the Lion’s Arch info was the reason there was no specs reveal. To pit these two pieces of information against each other misunderstands the game development process and the fact that we have different teams working on different features. The folks working on Lion’s Arch are not the same people we have working on profession specializations. As I said on Facebook: we release information when we’re ready to do so. If we haven’t revealed something, it’s because we’re not ready yet.
You forgot to add the ™ symbol when you said “when it’s ready” :P Gotta keep Colin happy
Content will be delivered “When It’s Ready™”
I agree with OP. Ascended gear is such a waste of time. I have a better solution. Please make all basic white coloured gear to have the same stats as Ascended. That way everyone is on a level playing field. While we’re at it, also make it so that every new character created is automatically level 80 with all skills and traits unlocked, because you know, character growth and progression is “such a waste of time”. Finally, please unlock all achievements and complete all storylines (both personal and living world) automatically on character creation and deliver all rewards straight to my account using in-game mail just so playing the game isn’t “such a waste of time”.
I’m sure this would be completely fair to all those who actually “wasted” their time and effort in getting these things.
Thank you ANET.

Nobody likes Trahearne.
Please speak for yourself. I actually think Trahearne is a great character and I don’t remember giving you authority to speak on my behalf.
He steals our thunder, and our rightful place as leader of the pact.
What entitles you to be the “rightful leader of the pact”?
He’s clearly demonstrated that he’s a failure as a leader.
How did he demonstrate that? Please provide proof.
I think I speak for most of the forum users when I say I want him dead.
Again, I haven’t given you authority to speak on my behalf.
They’re going to do absolutely nothing about the name. Jon Peter’s post in a different thread basically translates to “You are more than welcome to voice your concerns but this is what we are going with”.
End of story. Move on.
Within that mail text there is grammatical abuse. It’s a telling sign it’s fake.
You know, other than the obvious message at the bottom that says the message is NOT from ANET staff :P
Khades particularly caught my eye because he was Sylvari, so I watched him closely.
That’s racist man… shame on you.
I just wanted to let you know that your feedback on this is really appreciated. I understand how this immersion breaking bug is severely detracting from your enjoyment of Guild Wars 2. I assure you, Radiobiology, Bluefox. We have Top Men working on it right now. As always it will be fixed When It’s Ready™.
PWNT!
I dislike them ONLY because there is no longer a laurel reward!
You literally get your laurels now “just for showing up” …
Do you people even look into the details of updates before you start complain about them?
…I really don’t understand.
And then he created another thread about it and ignored all the links that people offered up to explain. /smh
HAHAHA!
Wow… why does ANET even bother posting patch notes when the majority simply choose to come here to QQ about it without even reading?
Let’s do imaginary math.
- The team of designers has 100 hours.
- In 100 hours, they can create 4 universal outfits.
- In 100 hours, they can create 1 armour skin with variations for 3 armour classes and tweaks for all races.
- Each outfit will sell 10’000 times, which makes 40’000 sells.
- Each armour skin will sell 30’000 times, which makes 30’000 sells.
- If the outfit costs the same as the skin, it’s more cost-efficient to make outfits than skins.
Of course real numbers are different, but the idea is the same.
No the idea is not the same. When the numbers get real, so does the idea. At this point the idea is as imaginary as your math.
No one enjoyed dailies. No one.
I did. You lose.
They either enjoyed the activity involved (killing enemies, harvesting plants, etc.) which they are still free to do, or they enjoyed the reward, which is now given to them simply for logging in.
Don’t care about the reward, don’t particularly cared about the activities involved with them. I killed enough monsters in this game. I enjoyed figuring out how to do them efficiently. Well, lately the answer to that was “spend 30 minutes in Silverwastes” so the fun had begun to fade before this update.
Nothing is stopping you from doing the old daily activities and absolutely nothing at all is stopping you from getting the old daily rewards.
Lack of interest in the specific activities is stopping me.
This means that your sudden lack of enjoyment is completely irrational.
The only irrational thing on display here is your utter failure to realize that not all people are like you, and some enjoy different things than you. You’re either severely lacking in empathy, or maybe you should get out more.
Once again, you can still do the activities and get the rewards the exact same way as the old dailies, which means that even if you somehow did enjoy them only as a combination of factors rather than as the individual action or reward (which, again, is completely irrational) you can still combine those factors and achieve your same level of enjoyment which makes your entire complaint INVALID.
I’m understanding the issue quite well. People irrationally dislike change because stasis is familiar and things that are not familiar generate an irrational fear impulse (as a survival mechanic). In order to justify their irrational fear of change, people come up with ridiculous statements (such as “I enjoy only the specific combination of task and reward, and only when it is presented on the screen.”).
Don’t worry, after a few weeks the new system will become familiar and your irrational fear will subside (at least until the next patch causes change).
People are incredibly predictable, and you are no exception.
Ooooo someone please call the fire station! Nicely put mtpelion!
Oh noes.. now you can get 70 APs per week… and that with even less work! The horror!
Yeah, that actually is a problem, and I’m sad you don’t see it. It’s unfortunate anet is dumbing down the game with this kind of daily win button garbage. We could have done without some of the fluff like Ambient Killer, but for the most part I found the dailies worthwhile. Now I can just log in, faceroll for 10 minutes, and gg.
Fail.
in this post: OP realizes he didn’t do his homework on the numbers and tries to save face
Or what’s left of it…
@Kallibar
You probably want to stop trying to spoon feed such basics to everyone. The update was released just yesterday. Some people understand things rightaway, others don’t. Not everyone is the same. Watch, a week or two later when the math finally starts making sense in their heads, they’ll stop making “Why is ANET trying so hard to kill themselves?” or “Where are my laurels and AP bro?” posts.
When I read posts like these, I get very concerned for the intellectual growth of humanity.
Cool, see you at Teq tomorrow.
LOL! and yeah, I can haz yuar stufz?
Yup, 35 laurels per 28 days. We’ll see what’s the amount of laurel in the 28th day, but with the old system you had 485 laurels per year, now you have kitten laurels per year (excluding the reward on the 28th days. So my guess is that you could have something like 700-750 laurels in a year if you always choose the laurel chest every 28th day, which is a lot more than it used to be.
My issue with it now is the communication of it. I posted a thread about this a week ago. There is still no answer and we are all just here speculating. When changes to the game happen, it should be clearly explained. That’s my opinion and it feels reasonable to have changes be clearly and concisely explained.
Are you the only one that didn’t see this page? —> https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-new-daily-achievement-system/
That was posted on Dec 10. Why are you still complaining about this?
Because they have changed a system and omitted the numbers from the announcement and the patch notes. What is our karma gain per month now? What is our Laurel gain per month? All I am saying is that it should be clearly and concisely explained and I said it reasonably.
No need to erupt, Vesuvius.
Except they’ve never posted numbers before for ANY update. Why are you expecting them to start posting numbers now?

Stuff like this should be clearly explained in the patch notes. It’s not though. It’s a convoluted mess.
I don’t think ANET does spoonfeeding. Maybe try opening a support ticket for that.
It’s nice that people have started putting things that they’re completely making up in bold lettering.
LOL so true! Yeah kittenes me off to no end how people state imaginary ideas as facts.
but it has to be consecutive days logging in
No it doesn’t. You can skip as many days as you want and your progress will continue from where you left off when you do log in.
See this page: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-new-daily-achievement-system/
Missed a day because of work, vacation, or a work vacation? No worries, your progress is still there! The next time you log in, you’ll pick up where you left off. The system will only reset once you’ve claimed the 28th and final reward.
It looks like we need to complete 5 events to complete this achievement. But it looks like only 4 events are available, according to this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Iron_Marches
Defeat the Gravelash and its cluster of tendrils (56)
Coat yourself in Mordrem spores to baffle Mordrem defenses and gather samples from the vine chambers (57)
Rescue the captured workers (58)
Stop Mordrem from spreading corrupted tendrils in the Iron Marches (53)
Where exactly is the 5th event?
Gotta love all the numbers and claims flying around without showing any proof or citing any source.
To the OP, send me all your gold if you’re done with the game kthxbye.
Too funny. They’ll end up ignoring this entire thread and pushing the changes out anyhow. You know this right? lol
LOL! that’s funny because it’s true :P
To the OP, they already have an article out on this. There is no way in the Realm of Torment that ANET is going to back these changes out now. Good luck though.
I do not understand why ArenaNet are deliberately trying to kill this game!
Clearly they’re not trying hard enough because you’re still here.
WTF ANET, kill the game faster!
Thanks for the note, mahri. Guild Wars is a great game — I love it, as I can see you do!
The actual official release date was April 28th (as it was for Guild Wars: Factions) and it’s a day that we all keep in our hearts, as it was the start of something BIG for all of us at ArenaNet. (I can see from the date you mention that you were in the early start, so thank you for being an early believer in our company. <3 )
Does ANET have anything special planned for the 10th anniversary? or should I goto guildwars.com and keep hitting F5? :P
One full year? Probably too early to ask for all your gold…
I don’t want to complain
I’m looking at the rest of your post and going “uhh…”
For the record, I’ve never actually done that. Just trying to be helpful by offering “alternative” workarounds to OPs problem
1. Change into zerker gear.
2. Ping zerker gear to placate your party’s concerns.
3. Change back into your original gear.
Enjoy!
Neither. I like Canada Dry Ginger Ale!
Great work! Watching this video was more fun than taking out Zhaitan in game :P
Thoughts on this?
If you want me to know what Caithe did in the past, please just show me a cutscene.
Thanks.
I disagree. Playing as Caithe was far more fulfilling than watching a cutscene. If I wanted to watch a cutscene, I’d go watch a movie instead instead of playing a game.
Thanks.
Different voice actress…It took 8 posts for someone to point out the most obvious reason?!
What RoseofGilead said below.
Yes, it was obviously a different actress. Regardless, it bothers me that the actress didn’t even really try to 1) match the previous actress’ voice and 2) maintain a consistent accent.
Yes, that is what’s bothering me. I’m just miffed that ANET actually let this happen.
