Amazing. We have the OP thanking other players for being kind. Then we have the “L33T guys” come in here complaining that the folks trying to help their fellow players are not playing the game correctly.
One of said “L33T guys” made his own post condemning the “kind folks”, and now he’s here whining about it again. For Christ’s sake, if you wanna win, then run your little kitten off. If you win, fine. If you don’t, then mind your own business and let players help other players if they wish. It’s hard not to loose faith in your fellow man, when you run into people/mentalities like this.
To the players that run a hard race and give it their all….good for you, theres nothing wrong with that. To the players helping out your fellow players…..bless you. To the players complaining about that…..I pity you.

Because we’ve already spent time doing the Sanctum Sprint without getting all of the rewards
you were told exactly what you would get for completing it. Apparently you thought it was worth doing. Anet doesn’t owe you anything.
If you buy a car and a month later the price drops do you go back to the dealership and demand a refund for the difference?
If you buy a video game and a week later the price drops do you go and demand the difference?
if a company offers a new bonus for signing up for its service when you are already a member do you demand they give you the sign up bonus even though you are already signed up?

If you buy something and the EXACT SAME DAY the price drops, you will be refunded the difference.

I’m flabbergasted by this thread’s very existence, really I am… is what I’d say in a world where I was completely naive. Instead I’m just sadly shaking my head at the OP’s completely warped view of the world.
Dude, if you get to the finish line first, you’ve WON. If you decide not to cross it because there was literally no reason to more than once (prior to the last update) or because you feel the rewards for doing so aren’t good enough to warrant what many people see as kind of a kitten move to do to other players, and you let 3 other people cross it before you step across yourself? You’ve still WON. You got there first.
There’s no betting on the outcome, they aren’t fixing the results for personal gain (quite the opposite in fact if they still do it now), they’re just being nice to other people in the race who probably have latency issues. Cheating would be finding some way to get to first without properly running the race; finishing in whatever place you feel like once you reach the end is just a player’s choice.
Consistently placing first every match (prior to the update that gave 1st place a slightly larger reward) is just pointless ego boosting at the expense of everyone else playing with you – the OP doesn’t want people to “play the game as intended”, they want to not be hassled by the folks who quite rightly pointed out that they were being a jerk. Which is nothing out of the ordinary, PvP is where people GO to be jerks, the entire concept is that when you pit players versus other players the fun generated is at another player’s expense; the nicer jerks among us just used our cutthroat competitive urges up along the way to the finish line.
The point of a race is to win, and everyone who let people pass them at the finish line WON their races, they didn’t need the game to tell them that, they already know they won. Asking for a world where we simply abandon any vestiges of (I am putting words here because the forum’s filter is being ridiculous) kindness is a sad indictment on the mindset of a decided portion of the PvP playerbase.

I really like the animation for the third Necromancer dagger skill – the character holds the dagger up and uses it to slice its own hand, making a nice slashing sound. It’s very fitting with the whole “sacrificial dagger” theme.
This topic is a perfect example of how devs are kittened if they do, and kittened it they don’t.
There is a huge difference between “I want a greater variety of ways to get X” and “I don’t want other players to get X.”
HUGE difference.
Anet should continue providing a variety of ways to get items. Keep in mind these achievement chests are not being handed out for nothing. Check out the leader boards, 70th percentile is less than 2000 points. 80th is mostly less than 3000. It’s not as though every player will be running around with thousands of “free” badges and 6 zenith weapon skins.
I’m pretty sure the buggy/laggy mechanics are preventing those who are not local to the servers from doing well in this race.
Is it fair they get a handicap and never able to obtain the one time only achievement just because you’re “competing” for a reward you already have? Preventing any one else from getting it once you have it is simply being mean. There is no reason to come first after you got it the first time.
I’m not competing for a reward, I’m competing for fun. This is a game, and I would like it to be played fairly so I can have fun. I actually like the race, but when people cheat like this it really hurts us all.
The irony is strong in this one.
If someone helping someone else in a VIDEO GAME bothers you so much….maybe you should reexamine your priorities in life.

Also, I’m not whining, I’m stating my opinion. Which again is: This is PvP not PvE, it’s competitive and has rules that need to be followed.

Since its Bazaar full of merchants with rare goods and all that good stuff. It would be really nice to see all the infinite gathering tools show up for this. Just so those of us that missed that could have another shot at them. Or hell make them permanent.

I never said I always wanted to come in first, I just want the game to be played by the rules that were set in place by the Devs. You’re being just as ridiculous as you claim that I am being by the way. I am entitled to ask people to play fairly and not cheat, and you should respect that and you should respect the rules too. I should not be asked to loose to someone so they can get an achievement point. I should not be yelled at because I do not let someone win.
We’re not asking you to throw your races, Blue. If you want to strive for first, have at it. Nothing wrong with that.

What gives you the right to judge him in such a manner? Do you mean that he shouldn’t use his eyes at all because they are troubling him? Do you know the circumstances of his case? How is this any different than say Droks runs, Desert Tours, etc from GW1? Simply put, there is no difference.
There will always be those that seek the path of least resistance. Some do it because they are lazy, others may legitimately not be able to do it on their own. Lag is a killer when trying to do JPs for example, and not everyone has spectacular connections and everyone being in the new zone does create a lot of lag for a lot of people.
So before you go pointing the finger and whining about other people ‘being bad players,’ keep in mind that you don’t know what their circumstances are.

While I agree it would be nice to fight more elder dragons, other things happen in the world. The elder dragons are still local in a sense. If you read Destiny’s Edge you’d get this.
Zhaitan was the dragon bothering the Tarnished Coast and Kryta. Other dragons invaded different areas. The Krytans aren’t straight up affected by Jormag at all. He’s up in the Northern Shiverpeakes.
They’ve just had a major war against the dragons, one would think there would be time to celebrate and or deal with other matters. It’s not like other things aren’t problems too.
Take the alliance between the Flame Legion and the Dredge. That’s a problem. And a more immediate problem than the elder dragons, who are dangerous, but not quite as active.
That’s the in game explanation. But the dragon scenarios will take time to create and other projects are being worked on.
I know everyone wants everything NOW, but that’s not the reality of programming or game creation.
Guild Wars 2, like just about every MMO in recent memory, released far too early (the exception was Rift which was relatively small at launch). The game needs to be worked on BEFORE another dragon is worked on.
The Living Story is filler content to keep people playing. Nothing more. There’s no monthly fee. If you don’t like what you see, take a break until the next dragon comes out.
But don’t blame the living story because programming stuff takes time, or because the game needs to be strengthened before it moves on.
Even from a story telling point of view it’s important for everything not to be epic.
That’s nice that they got our money. What more important is that they KEEP getting our money. I can tell you this, though, I am definitely not going to recommend anything NCSoft to my friends after all the crap I’ve put up with and seen and unless they come up with some good deals, I am not buying anything else from them. I don’t want my friends spending money without knowing the disappointment they will be encountering.
Both companies don’t know it yet, but NCsoft and ArenaNet are the downhill slopes of lost customer loyalty and negative word-of-mouth advertising.

-1 for the violin. Having to sit at the forge and listen to people screech and wail on the horn is horrible. And before anyone says it, it sucks to have to turn down your sound because of it.

Engi and Ele, I just run dolyaks and keep the NPC camps on our side, usually end up fighting in groups at the camps and dolys and wandering 1v1s between runs. Scout sometimes too. Or I did back before I got fed up with all the pig-tailed little girls that can’t finish a fight, haven’t been in WvW in weeks.
I remember you. You were crying about this a couple of weeks ago. For someone that likes to call others (that use their class mechanics correctly) pig-tailed little girls…..you sure do cry a lot.
prepare to be ablazed for pointing out the obvious imbalance in such a class that stealth isnt a risk/reward thing but rather a win-win situation since there is literally no penalty for it, you get mov speed (easy to get), make the enemy lose sight of you, you lose bleeds burns and chills, get health regend, make your opponent waste abilities, use it to escape, explore, one-hit people (such as you), get away from batttle if things get awry, finish people up before they even know you were there, and the only window of counterplay is a 2 second penalty where most skills have a second winding up, and unless you CC him hard, he will get away, and even if you do you would need a LOT of firepower to make him retreat, just to come back fro stealth and finish you off after the first backstab HS HS didnt do the job.

In all seriousness, I don’t know why the devs (and a lot of players) are so against it. It’s one thing I really don’t like about the game, the lack of UI customization. It doesn’t have to be anything over the top, I am not asking to open the door to tons of modders, nothing that far – just something more than adjusting the scale and the location of the chatbox and simple stuff like that.
We should really be able to move our abilities around and put some things like food on our bar, and move our health orb and energy bar as well.
The UI in an MMO is, in my humble opinion, something very personal. The devs should give us a bit of freedom with it.
Totally agree. I’m not asking for mods either. Just moving a few of the UI panes around would help. I’d love to move my target pane down close to my health bubble. That way I’m not having to look from the top to bottom of my 30" monitor to watch mine and the mobs health.
A small bar to put food and such on. Having to open the inventory to eat and such is just archaic. Small enhancements such as these go a long way. Even SWTOR had a no mods, but a very flexible UI from the start. IMO, something that should be standard in all new MMOs.
This kinda puts all of the “game problems” on this message board into perspective.

You can’t tell me that all accounts have 100% RNG integrity, when one person gets 7 precursors in just a few weeks. That would be like going to Vegas for a two week vacation and hitting the jackpot on progressive slots 7 times. I know random is random, but this doesn’t make sense.

Wow, every post argueing in favor of portals in this thread is being posted by mesmers. Those mesmers are immediately and vociferously attacking anyone who posts in support of my OP. I think this is very telling. I think that you know that portals are breaking the game and trivializing content. I think you know that you are wrong. I think that is why you are so aggressive. I think you just want to have your license to steal at any cost.
Mesmer is about the only class I don’t play. If this bothers you so much, maybe you should take a break from gaming. Maybe focus that attention on improving some REAL WORLD issues. This is a video game. Portals do not hurt YOU. You don’t like them? Fine, don’t use them. See how easy that is? It’ll save you an ulcer as you get older.

Well I think you’ll find that Mesmer’s are pretty generous with their portals. Sometimes standing around for hours handing them out for no charge at all. That is why the skill was created to let anyone interact with it.
Chances are if a Mesmer is in your dungeon group skipping content, you’ll be invited right along with him.
And this is the first I’ve heard of the portal giving any significant advantage to farming.
