Stop guessing. Unless you guest to every single server in both the EU an the US you have no idea. No one does. Only Anet can answer this.
Just tell the OP that he’s stupid for asking questions that no one can answer. I appreciate constructive answers, though may not be right, than what you just wrote.
@Yenn.9185
Yes, I’m a dumb blonde. Thank you for reading https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/rules
Oh, please. . . I’m just trying to start a conversation. I guess that did not work at all.
Uh, you do realize that Yenn was supporting you……right?
It’s not an “auto loot”, it’s an AOE loot.
Bottom line, I just don’t want to repeat BORING AS HELL CONTENT.
Then kitten DON´T!
Your idea is terrible and you should feel terrible.you’re a bad person and should feel terrible!!!
/sarcasmAmazing….
First of all mister, don´t put words in my mouth!
I didn´t attack Nooka personally, but his post and his idea that ANet is somehow responsible for him “touching the stove and getting burnt”.This thread exists because Nooka chose to make all crafting tiers and world completion on one character and now somehow demands that an alt has to get everything for free again.
Something that´s unheard of in any other MMO, but please correct me if I´m wrong.I´m very much an altoholic too, but the entitlement just really rubbed me the wrong way.
So you didn’t attack him personally, but you attacked his idea?……um….sure…..ok. You told him that his idea was terrible, and he should feel terrible.
He was only voicing an OPINION…..about a video game. Wow.
Bottom line, I just don’t want to repeat BORING AS HELL CONTENT.
Then kitten DON´T!
Your idea is terrible and you should feel terrible.
Yes Nooka, you should feel terrible!!!!! Just because you voice a different opinion or enjoy different things than other people, you’re a bad person and should feel terrible!!!
/sarcasm
Amazing….
IMO, their Esport vision is one of the things hurting this game the most. I wonder how many players actually care about the Esport aspect, compared to PVE?
I’ve seen that name here a few times. I thought people were talking about the company that makes the Madden games and left out the “A”.
LOL, I wish that were the case.
Quantity > Quality
I can only imagine how the devs are being rushed by management to crank out new content to keep players.

I was really anticipating finishing out the set. Why am I not surprised they let that bit of misinformation slip by….
I’m laying in bed surfing on my iPad. When I read the OP, I LOL’d and woke my wife up. I’ll agree this game has many issues for many people, but this is REALLY going off the deep end.
I thought this thread was humorous. Some people seem to have sticks lodged in places where sticks don’t belong… :-/
You might get an Anet answer to this, but I don’t think you’re gonna like it. As I understand it, if you go outside the TP, you assume the risk.
After I’ve heard it for the ten thousandth time, I wish I could turn that dialogue off.
Wow. This whole thread seems really overcomplicated.
Here’s the short answer for a lot of players:
Players want new skins in the game that they can actively work towards. Not something that they can actively gamble towards with no guarantee of ever getting it. Especially not when it comes to real money.I agree.
+2
I knew that sounded familiar. Great movie!!!!!
I remember in EQ1, you could be so encumbered, you’d die stepping off one small step.
Care to expand and back up the claims thakittens not a problem?
Sure. Cosmetic items were supposed to be monetized, it was announced way before launch. That was the price of keeping the game fair and fun for everyone. Instead of having subs or p2w content, we can play the entire game fairly for free, and only pay for luxury items that don’t affect anything whatsoever.
As such, complaining about an intended and hyped feature is silly.
Just another " you don’t NEED it post". I think there are WAY too many of these. See how that works? Opinions…..
Why yes it is.
Can you post an actual argument against it instead of just dismissing it?
I made my point. Your post I referenced is opinion…..your opinion. “Fair and fun for everyone”? “Luxury items that don’t affect anything”? You state it as if it where fact. It could be said that any food or drink other than bread and water is a luxury item, since we really don’t NEED them to live. But saying that would be rather “silly”.

When I grew up, and I’m 47, if you we’re rude or acted like a kitten to someone, you did it face to face. Being face to face, you could potentially suffer the backlash of said behavior. Now with the anonymity of the Internet, not so much.
Personally, I believe that times have and are changing on many levels….and not for the better.
LOL…..now that was funny!
OMG! Another ‘I Hate RNG’ thread. I guess 1,203,394,740,135 of these threads isn’t enough. We can always use one more.
They need 10 times more the number you have given, then maybe, but only maybe will they do something about it.
Really? I don’t think so. It is the same people complaining over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.
Of course maybe if we have 10 time more of those threads, the complainers will finally get over it or go away.
Same people? Nope? Lots of folks don’t like the RNG. Even some of the more hardcore avid “supporters” of the game and Anet have voiced their dislike. I don’t know of a single person in my guild that doesn’t hate it. As far as the treads….keep them coming!
Remember the Mad King’s Clock Tower? That’s the way to reward people… Imagine if the chest a the top rewarded one of the dragon weapon skins… I’d be ok if you could only do it once per account. Right now, getting a weapon skin all about luck.
You would get a storm of protest from the 9/10 who couldn’t do it…
A lot of people would quit with GW2 being renamed Jump Wars 2…
Because the game is already dubbed Daily Wars 2, or Grind Wars 2.
I am having a hard time understanding the logic behind rng boxes. Do the devs sit around a conference room and say “Hmm, this is such a success. they love RNG boxes”.
By a small minority of disenchanted people, not by any majority. Sure on the forums like a half a dozen guys have dubbed it that. But it’s no where near the grind of most MMOs and the dailies aren’t as bad as most MMOs, so it’s not a big deal.
It would be if it were true, I suppose. Glad it isn’t.
In game map chat says otherwise. Not all people who complain about the game come to the forums some complain in public chat rooms and on other websites. Calling it a minority just because of the few that come here doesn’t discredit that they’re right anymore then not being a game designer means you can’t possibly understand what’s going on in that same process or realize just what’s possibly happening behind the scenes. The prerequisite for arguments requiring the majority or requiring expertise is a strawman designed to take away from the truth of the matters at hand in everything.
I call it a minority because people complain more than they compliment. A perfect example is the forums I used to moderate.
There were half a dozen REALLY negative people there (this was before November) and they drove all the people that liked the game out. Many of those people ended up in my guild and most of them still play.
The point is, 6 idiots drove out 50-60 people who liked the game.
People who are enjoying themselves aren’t mostly like me. This sort of stuff annoys them and they avoid it. But since only a handful of people can prevent a lot of people form talking (as I’ve seen first head) talking in game is as meaningless as talking here.
I know a whole lot of people who leave map chat off because there are too many people in map chat they’d rather not listen to.
I also find it amazing that just because people sound negative alot about something that somehow makes them wrong. It’s not wrong to expect what you paid for in any sense of the word. Those people who complained could have just been repeating the things they noticed that someone else mentioned first. It happens all the time.
Someone mentions the gas prices and others chime in. People who stop using gasoline aren’t necessarily worse off in their daily lives or find alternatives that do make them happier.
There’s going to be loss in this field especially when there were prelaunch promises that were put on indefinitely hold, that’s no secret and it’s not going away until something’s done. People don’t like being told 1 thing and then discovering that what they paid for was something entirely different. That’s just the way of consumerism.
There are also people who jump on the bandwagon without even understanding the conversation. This happens all the time. Like the number of climate change skeptics out there who don’t have a clue about the science.
Agreeing with something doesn’t make it right, even if a whole bunch of people agree. Most people are sheep. They hear people saying stuff and they want to fit in. This isn’t some obscure concept, but a very normal psychological one. It’s how peer pressure works.
You can tell a joke that has no meaning at all, have a few people laugh at it and a room full of people will also laugh, even if there’s no joke.
True, but this is a two way street…
100% true. It is a two way street.
But since these forums tend to be overwhelmingly negative…if there is a bandwagon to jump on it’s the dark side.
While I agree that every MMO has its fair share of naysayers, this game also has its fair share of overly optimistic people who are happy at every change ever, regardless of what it is or what it does. Arenanet could shut this game down tomorrow and they would STILL be sitting here on forums defending that it was a good idea and needed to be done, and everyone who says otherwise is just a malcontent.
ANYTHING can be taken to excess, and excessive optimism is just as annoying as excessive pessimism.
Very well said Tolmos.
kRiza krimosYea it gets like that when you’r used to get everything you want.
It has nothing to do with greed. RNG is just a terrible system as it creates an unfair playing field due to being completely based on random chance. If skins could be acquired through skill, say by winning tickets through the playing and winning of Dragon Ball matches or being a top 3 player x many times, it would be far more satisfying as you have stuff to look forward to that is achieveable if you put in a bit of effort and acquire skill.
RNG causes some people to get 3 weapon tickets after having acquired 25 boxes and others to have none after 500+ opened chests.
Because RNG is the only thing that balances out people with tons of time to play and people that get almost no time to play. Thanks to RNG – both have equal chances – take note of the word “chances” – to get the item.
Umm, no. Someone that can farm coffers 10 hours a day has a much better chance than someone that can farm them for 5 hours on the weekend. The afore mentioned will open many, many more coffers than the weekend guy.
Except that the person that has farmed 10 hours a day now has DR and receives almost no boxes.
I’ve been farming the event for boxes, opening about 2k of them now and I have no ticket. My multiple friends who haven’t even logged in for a week got 5 boxes and already have their ticket.
Move to another area.
Remember the Mad King’s Clock Tower? That’s the way to reward people… Imagine if the chest a the top rewarded one of the dragon weapon skins… I’d be ok if you could only do it once per account. Right now, getting a weapon skin all about luck.

I am a little bit scared after the last few updates. I feel like we are getting these shallow living story/holiday events merely as a way to wrap frequent gem store updates. As if they’ve given up on any longer term content plans and want to milk as much cash out of their current players as they can before everyone has lost interest.
I’ve been thinking this same thing for a while now.
From what I hear, the Sky Pirates story will feature steampunk type skins. I wonder if they will be RNG?
Noone is forcing you to run around and burn those statues..
“nobody is forcing you to do the daily”
“nobody is forcing you to get weapon skins”
“nobody is forcing you to log in to get laurels for ascended items”
" nobody is forcing you to play this game"
“you don’t NEED (item x) to play the game”
“this game is just not for you"
That’s it……my head just exploded. :-/
No one is forced to participate in these events.
followed by; nobody is forcing you to do the daily, followed by nobody is forcing you to get weapon skins, followed by nobody is forcing you to log in to get laurels for ascended items, followed by nobody is forcing you to play this game.
You are whats wrong with the community, brainwashed players whose only responses to everything are “nobody is forcing you” and “this game is just not for you”. Please next time you try to comment something like this read it, read it, go take a cup of coffee, and then delete the post.
Amen!….a thousand times over! It gets so old seeing people make these statements and try to use them as a valid argument. In the end, it’s a game. We don’t NEED to do anything.
wtf is this post. We can’t talk about stuff that isn’t satisfying us in the game we paid for? No one from ANET reads suggestion pages, and sometimes all we want to post is “x is broken, fix it”.
Besides, what would Vayne do with all his time if he couldn’t whiteknight this forum 24/7?
There is more than one section of the forums all of us can use to express ourselves in but I cannot think of any section on this game’s site that is as full of vitriol, uneccessary rants, undeserved insults, and general utter lameness.
Your reply was first and it exemplifies how near these forums are approaching Blizzard forum badness. You make a remarkable claim with no proof “…no one from Anet reads suggestion pages…” as if you have any idea what anyone at ANet reads and then you follow this up by insulting another player.
It would be better to eliminate this section of the forums then allow them to continue as a place for such base behavior.
Please don’t squeeze the Charmin Mr Whipple……
Inb4…..“you don’t NEED them, and they are not required to play the game”. That’s the logic with the RNG weapon skins anyway.
To a certain degree, Anet should be glad people are complaining. If they’re not complaining, they’ve already left (a truism in the MMO industry).
Anet is also lucky ESO was pushed back to Spring 2014. That is more than enough time to raise their game vs. the only serious competitor on the horizon. (Though the DayZ alpha is coming out this month).
I think though WvW is different than the sPvP situation.
Anet has made huge changes to WvW, that (to my knowledge) have no equivalent in sPvP. The Arrow Cart buff would be akin to taking away 75% of sPvP’ers skills and giving them only 3 abilities on their hotbar. Then, progression in sPvP after that would buff only those three skills (equivalent to WXP abilities). Because that is what Siege Wars has turned WvW into.
ESO was pushed back to spring 2014? Bummer :-(
I thought i heard somewhere that it was an existing bug since release.
I’d be more inclined to agree with you if you “needed” the jade weapons, but you don’t. It’s just a skin, and every few months, there’s a new batch of em. I get it, you think some of the skins are pretty, and it’d just be dandy if you could get one or two for some characters, but we simply just do not need these items.
Yes, I know it’s really, really frustrating and annoying to literally flush hard earned money away. But, all I can say is just don’t do it then. If you want to support ANet, bye items which you are sure to get. And if you don’t like their practices with chance boxes, then don’t bye them.
There will be more skins. Some of them you’ll like, some of them you won’t. Some of them will be in chance boxes, some of them won’t.
And hey, of you really have had enough, stop playing. If you aren’t having fun in a game, what’s the point?
The old “you don’t need it” reply. You don’t “need” to do anything in a game. What is something you really enjoy about GW2 so we can tell you that you don’t “need” to do that. Stop dictating what other people find enjoyable about a game.
It’s not a bug, since when have you ever seen a dragon with broken wings fly properly. it fits the item perfectly. the wings are broken and shattered to hell and back why WOULD they look even and move correctly
Not sure what to say about this LOL!
I can only guess he supports RNG boxes as well.
LMAO…. He’s secretly the dev that designed those wings. ;-)
The ridiculous thing is, I’ve spotted these 2 major problems after only having found 4 projectors this morning. I can’t believe this got through QA.
Anet has QA????
You might also look up “Combat Mode”, which is a key binding plugin – while not endorsed by Arenanet, it doesn’t violate the “1 click = 1 click” rule, it adds a key that engages something akin to “shooter mode” in Star Trek Online (Or the entire game in Mass Effect 2/3), so you don’t have to click and drag the screen, instead moving your mouse aims and the reticle is fixed centre screen, this frees up the scroll-wheel and mouse buttons for key bindings that are traditionally required to orientate the camera and gives the game a much more responsive shootery feel
+1 for Combat Mode. I use it everyday and love it. This is the version I use. He did a great job on it! http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/16pi2d/yet_another_combat_mode_4_guildwars_2_11/
OP, you are either extremely unlucky or you kitten ed them off somehow. I crafted my mesmer almost to 80 then watched 1 short video showing the run. I wasn’t experienced at all but I did just fine and haven’t had a problem before. Just don’t slow down the run.
OP…..guess that’s a case in point for you ;-)
I know some will suggest to rebind them but when I am in tight spots I press every button except the one I intended to. Like if I try to use my heal in Q I press Tab, 1, A, W it happens so often and that’s just with something in Q.
I wanted to try Mesmer/Ele but I can’t for the life of me press Blink, Decoy etc. in the time I need them. I have to either try to click, which means I lose control of the camera or I have to stop moving, look at the keyboard and use my left hand to press the button.
What classes are suggested with my handicap?
That’s one reason why i can’t play mesmer either and I used a nostromo.
I would personally suggest getting one of those mice with three buttons and a scroll (the button in the center is offset from the scroller on the mouse so it’s easier and lasts longer) that way you’d have an extra button to bind either an elite (which would prolly be the best bet for the life of the mouse) or 6.
Some have suggested using a xbox controller I haven’t tried this yet but heard it works well for games with this style of combat.
Agree. I’ve been using a Nostromo since Everquest 1. If I couldn’t have one, I’d stop playing. Back then, it was made by Belkin. Now it’s produced by Razor.
“I saw a perma-stealthed thief…”
LMAO!
I’m happy that clothes like this are no combat-clothes.
That would destroy the atmosphere of the game if there would be people in pink quaggan-hats who are fighting a dragon.
In town it’s ok. Cause there it’s good for RP to have hats for characters that are children for example.
But not in fight. Makes me shiver to even think about a charr-warrior with a pink quaggan-hat. And people would do that if they could. So it’s good that they can’t.
We have a bow that shoots rainbows and unicorns, and you have a problem that’s these hats will destroy the atmosphere? LMAO………ok.
If I didn’t have my legendary, I wouldn’t have it. I have 3000 hours in game due to the fact that I enjoy playing the game. I wasn’t even TRYING for a legendary until the precusor dropped. But my point in the same. I didn’t run CoF path 1 to get it…occassionally with the guild, never twice on the same day. I didn’t farm Orr to get it..occassionally I’d go there if I needed like omnom berries to make bars. I never farmed any area over and over. Honestly it would bore my senseless.
I’ve spent a lot of time in lower zones, hanging out with and helping guildies. Done some PvP, some PvE. In no game do I ever focus on loot. I see no reason to. I think the focus on loot has ruined the RPG genre completely and made it something it was never supposed to be.
Do you know what you are in WoW when you’re all geared up? A coatrack for greatness. I never wanted to be that. I want to be powerful, I don’t want my armor to be powerful. I don’t want to put on a coat to be awesome. The coat isn’t me.
So yeah, even if I didn’t have a legendary, none of what I said would have changed. I didn’t buy it, I didn’t farm it. I got it by playing. And if it took me two years…it would take me two years. Why should I care. I’m having fun.
People who aren’t having fun should play a game where they can have fun. I would think that would be self-evident. Maybe I’m wrong.
Another “I don’t think you understand the game” or “Should play a different game” post. Please, keep on, don’t let us interrupt your 24/7 soap box. 3000 hours played and wonders why everyone else is complaining about the game. Priceless.
Being able to have goals in the game wouldn’t hurt players like you. You can keep on wandering around low level zones not worrying about a thing. You could keep on picking flowers for 3000 hours or whatever it is you do. It would just give the rest of a us a full game to play.
I’ve played every game like this for years, even when I’ve had no time to play. I just don’t see what the big rush is. Maybe it’s an age thing. Maybe younger people need everything faster, because the world has spread up, but I’m quite happy to take my time.
This has nothing to do with how many hours I’ve played.
Then why mention that you have 3000 hours played? And this point I’m more inclined to believe you zealously defend every aspect of the game because it’s a learned behavior from playing 10+ hours a day since release.
I mean, how could you hate something if it’s all you have done and all you have known for 10 months? Obviously you are going to love it just how it is, because it’s all you know anymore.
And don’t pull the age card, I’m hitting my late 20s now and I have a family and a job of my own. Age isn’t even relevant, but I would say spending all your time on a game changes how you feel about the game and life in general.
Yes, you’re hitting you’re late 20s. You’re a kid. I’m 51. I’ve changed a lot of my views of the world since my late 20s. The age card is quite appropriate.
I worked as an editor professionally and I’ve written professionally as well. I’ve lived with a piece of work for years and years and still had to look at it critiqually. How much time I spend on something doesn’t make me blind to its faults.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to see the same faults as you are. Are you really that blind? Can you not see that there are different TYPES of players who play this game. You’re one type of player, looking for one type of experience and I’m different type of player looking for a different experience, and that alone can explain everything about what we’re looking for in a game. It’s not being a blind fan boy. It’s that this game was made for players like me and NOT made for players like you. Not all games will please everyone.
Tons of people love World of Warcraft. I never have and I never will. Not because it’s a bad game, but because it’s not made for players like me.
You’re looking to try to explain why my opinion is so different from yours. It’s because we’re different people, born in different time, sculpted by different experiences, and so we want different things from our entertainment.
It’s really not that hard.
You are just dancing around again. There is no reason why both experiences can’t be in the game and be relevant. All you are proving to us is that you are set in your ways and too stubborn to think about anyone else’s opinions. Call me a kid all you want, I’m not spending 10+ hours a day in a video game.
You are correct. Age is not an issue. I’m 48 and feel exactly as you do. Fanatics will be fanatical…..just saying.

Filled with excessive and single-minded zeal.
Obsessively concerned with something.
whoever says that most part of getting a legendary is playing the game normally except for lodestone, i want to know how normally playing you can get 750 pile of crystalline dust to craft bifrost…
because in my normal gameplay i managed to have 100ish and this when loot and farming weren’t nerfed…
after the nerf i had to buy all of it and/or had it from friendsBut you’ve made gold and you can buy mats. That’s what most people do. Most people don’t farm all the mats they need themselves. They play the game however they want, slowly building up the money they need to buy the mats they want. They keep an eye on the prices of mats, because they do fluctuate, and they try to buy when the price is lower.
So some people love dungeons and run them for money. Or Fractals. Some people hate them and just run dynamic events, which takes longer, but they do it anyway. Some people follow the world events around and make money doing that.
I do a bit of everything and though I didn’t need 750 crystalline dust for my lengendary, I did need 100 onyx lodestones, which by today’s prices works out to roughly the same price. And Crystalline dust has gone up. It’ll go down again after the Southsun event when more people are farming in Orr.
The point is, you don’t have to farm the mats, you just play the game, save your gold, and buy your mats. That’s what I did.
I am trying to make sense of all of your posts in this thread, but I am soooo confused.
You are telling people to slow down and play for fun, and that legendary weapons were meant to be “Ultra long term goals”, yet you have 3000 hours played by your admission, and a legendary already.
Its pretty easy to tell other people to relax and just play the game, when you are already afforded that luxury due to you achieving your "Ultra long term goal’ already. While others who either do not have your luck, your time, or your playing prowess want to achieve the same thing you have done already.
You are like the guy who quits smoking, then preaches to other people they should quit, and its easy. No one wants to hear it to be honest.
If half of these people had their legendary already, you would not see them in here complaining, unless of course it was about the lack of endgame/content.
I am happy you achieved your goal, and you did it YOUR way, but that does not give you the right to come in here and tell people THEIR way is wrong just because it is different than yours.
I am one of the players who enjoys mindless grinds ( Job is mentally tasking, and coming home to a mindless activity is nice) , and getting rewarded for spending my time doing what I find fun. I enjoy talking to my friends while grinding, and maybe listening to music while doing so, point is … to me, while I do enjoy the content Anet has put in the game, and I have tried most of it, farming is my bread and butter, and the content I find the most rewarding.
The good thing is that whenever Anet shuts down a farming spot, another one opens, so I will not freak out about losing skelks. I moved on from skelks a while ago, and making my money elsewhere, but as I see people moving in on that as well now, I know I need to start looking for another spot again. So I will .. and I will continue to play the game the way I want, as you so did it your way.
You Sir, are my new hero! Well said. :-)
Let people buy what they want.
If people want to support ArenaNet and at the same time have a chance of getting a special skin, let them.
It is not like you NEED the skins from the boxes anyway.
God, I get so tired of the word “NEED”. You don’t NEED to play the game. Stop dictating what other people find enjoyable about the game!
For me, just the fact that the Karka Queen looked just like every other veteran Karka was disappointing. At the very least, make her larger. Just like the weapons and armor you can buy with Karka shells……mediocre and lazy content.
More updates? Yes. Quality content? To me, not so much.
You can’t put legendaries in the forge. It does not show up as an option and you cannot drag them in.
The only legendaries you can put in are Sunrise and Twilight – combining both gives you Eternity.

Then the devs missed a great opportunity.
Bunch of players standing around a smoking pit in Lion’s Arch:
“What happened?”
“The Mystic Forge blew up.”
“WT-??? Blew up? How?”
“Someone threw four Legendaries into the forge. It shot out green flames, then blew up. Zommoros appeared and yelled ‘Finally! I’m free! You there! L2P Noob, you don’t play RNG with Legendary Weapons!’ And he disappeared, leaving behind this smoking crater.”
“Awesome!”
“Yeah, but now what do we do? Mystic Forgesmith is one of the dailies!”
/collective facepalm
LOL……Awesome!!!
I logged back into Rift today for the first time in a very long time. I had forgotten what customization truly is…
Compared, it feels like GW2 is a console.
There are hundreds of thousands of words that can be used to express yourself outside of the realm of cursing. Believe it or not a lot of people usually see someone that has an extended vocabulary outside of 4 letter words as a sign of maturity and intelligence.
I still don’t see the benefit of taking the time to type something like, “Oh kitten” in chat. Can you tell me what is so captivating about stopping to type that in chat? Do the people in /map give you a lot of positive feedback when you do so?
You are arguing that the chat filter should allow someone to say fall off a cliff, pause, then type kitten in chat is okay when it has been said over and over that the filter does not make it acceptable. So you can either accept that or you can test it in chat yourself and see where that gets you.
example:
you’re trying to finish an event with your friends. It’s too hard, many of you have died multiple times, you type in chat “Oh kitten it” as in “I give up”. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Was reading this as well http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/yxx3m/suspensions_for_offensive_names_and_inappropriate/ and a lot of bans are questionable. Like getting banned for a name of “Adolf Critler”. Hitler is not the only Adolf in the world and Critler might be a legit last name in real world.
This game has more strict character names/ offensive language rules than any other MMO in existence. Hell people are getting banned for use of phrases that they were able to use in GW1 no problem.Let me add something that so many fans of this game love to point out….“it’s Anet’s game”……..if they say you don’t get to curse in public chat, you don’t get to curse. If you do and you get reported, enjoy your 72 hour ban.
If I go to a Mall and hear kids cursing loudly and freely around other people and families, I wonder if they are really that ignorant, or what happened to mommy and daddy. So much for manners, self-control and consideration of other people.
What’s the point of filter then? If you went to the store and had a filter installed in your ears why would you be complaining about someone talking dirty?
A filter in your ears? Really? The lack of comprehension is utterly amazing….
I never understood the argument along the lines of “If I fall off a cliff sometimes I say kitten”. You are not saying it you are typing it. Isn’t it a bit more difficult to type kitten than it is to express it verbally to yourself? Does it really enhance other’s game play that you take the time to type, “Kitten I fell” in chat? Does the end viewer fell a greater since of your frustration because you typed kitten?
Most consider cursing as an adult language. A reasonable adult will know when and where they should not curse. I don’t see any value at all in taking the time to type, “Oh kitten”. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of you have curse word macros. There is nothing especially cool about cursing. Perhaps open a dictionary and learn some better ways to express yourself.
Curse words can be used to express yourself and convey a meaning to other people as well as anything else. Examples:
Oh kitten it
For kitten’s sake!
There’s nothing wrong with it, especially having in mind that people that don’t want to see such language can have the filter on.
