Especially medium armor. This game has no concept of fashionable-looking medium armor. You can have a trenchcoat or a trenchcoat. Lame.

I must say that I too found the flow to be off. It is “explained” but very very poorly. For many I am sure that this would lead to frustration and then the inevitable log out like myself and the OP.

Most are explained on the official patch guide that is displayed on the client in the news section. However, I wholeheartedly agree that more in-game game should be available for those who tend to skip reading the client and log straight into the game. Maybe an in-game website link?

I know people do not like having to go to a 3rd party site for information. I do not like doing that to find a dungeon group. But I am sold on Dulfy’s site and her wonderful guides. If you need help, they hand hold you all the way through. She does a better job at disseminating info than Anet does.

I was not referrring to Dulfy’s guide but this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/clockwork-chaos-guide/

I usually start out with this ‘mini-guide’ first before I get stuck and seek help from Dulfy’s encyclopedia =).

I went to the invasion zone as stated on my event reminder, ‘Blazeridge Steppes’. Only there was no invasion in Blazeridge Steppes. I was placed in an overflow and COULD NOT COMPLETE THE CONTENT.

Do you understand?

Let me try and explain –
The content you need to complete begins every hour, on the hour. Because there are so many thousands of people playing, overflow servers become necessary. Any overflow server created more than ten minutes AFTER the hour (9 o’clock, 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock, etc.) will not have the event running on it. The reason for this is because the event itself takes 45 minutes. So an overflow that is created at 9:09.59 (H/M/S) isn’t going to end until 9:54:59 – then there is a 5 minute “rest” while the servers reset.

So at the top of the hour, you look at the upper right side of your screen to find out what map the event is happening in (Gendarran Fields, Lornar’s Pass, whatever). In order to participate, you must go to that map BEFORE 10 minutes past the hour. If you go to the map after 10 minutes past the hour, you’ll have to wait until the top of the next hour and go wherever the prompt in the upper right corner tells you – again, before 10 minutes past the next hour.

So – 9:00-9:10, you’re golden. 9:11-9:59, you’ve missed out until 10:00. 10:00-10:10, you’re golden. 10:11-10:59, you’ve missed out until 11:00. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Assuming you are correct on all of that, I can’t be bothered to follow such a strict gaming schedule. Who in the hell thought that sort of design would be a good thing? I’m not here to work, I’m here to play. Last I checked, there was no usage schedule attached to the teeter totter. The merry-go-round was usable for far more than 10 minutes per hour.

But this QS content…what in kitten is this?

Not sure why you are so angry, since many people are willing and trying to help you. Sounds like you still don’t fully understand, and you’re frustrated. Maybe get someone to group with you in game, and help you through it.

If not, sounds like you should stick to single player games. Sorry.

Ok, let’s they this one more time..

The event starts EVERY hour, on the hour.

If you go to the specified zone within 10 minutes of the event starting, said event will be underway in EVERY overflow.

You MUST get there by 10 minutes after the hour. Like 2:10, 3:10, 4:10 and so on.

Why 10 minutes?

I made the last one in 7 minutes and there was nothing. Is it one of those ‘no longer than 10 minutes but not before 9 minutes’ things? Like everyone has a super narrow window or something?

I’m sorry. There is nothing I can do to help you. You’re in over your head. Hope you figure it out.

Portals are most useful in WvW, so I don’t think its such a big deal. Movement speed is strange in this game though. It really makes no sense. The deciding factor when I picked thief was that signet… I rolled a mesmer first and couldn’t believe such a popular job had no movement speed, and switched to thief. 90% of any MMO is running around.

I really wish they could have implemented a division between PvE, WvW and PvP. In my opinion, the esport vision has really hurt PvE on so many levels.

This MMO has a narrow FoV compared to other MMOs. It’s been discussed at length in the past. This is probably one of the main things I don’t like about this game, which is a shame, because it’s the most beautiful game I’ve played to date.

Manifesto Clarification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Villious.8530

Villious.8530

GW2 is different in some ways and not so different in other ways.

Everybody will have their own interpretation of the Manifesto, as the terminology based in the Manefisto are things that are completely open to personal interpretation.

People can call other people ignorant but in the end it’s just a different opinion based on a different frame of reference.

Now I got myself caught into a big discussion and I do apologise for that. All I can say is that I’ve done my best to avoid replying to the other person involved since the mods rightfully took out the posts involved.

The bottom line for me is though that nobody can prove anything. There is no scientific fact or legal document to prove anybody right. We can only see that the Manifesto was worded in a way that brought out lots of emotion and sadly still does. It has been years and the opinions haven’t really changed and never will, because it’s everybody’s personal interpretation in the end. There is no proving wrong or right.

Some will say this game is a breath of fresh air and is exactly what it promised to be and others will see it’s the biggest lie a company ever made. Interestingly enough both can be right at the same time. Just not right for each other.

And it just shows how much it was open for interpretation, because years later it’s still being discussed and still not resolved.

My view is that there is nothing to resolve and everybody is right in his opinion about it and just cannot expect other people to look at it the same way. There is no evidence in this matter, just opinion.

So is this game grindy? For me yes, but more to the point of boredom than hard work and I will add that I don’t always see grind as bad. I’ve seen worse grind.
Is this game heroic? Not for me. Poor story telling, horrible voice acting…Not heroic for me.
Did this game take what I liked from GW1 and put it into a persistent world? Not for me.
Is the combat exciting? No, not for me. Too much dodge and auto attack. There are expections, just not enough. The depth that does exist in the combat system is basically optional.

So, for a casual game to play between other games or for just a little something different to do… sure I play this game from time to time.

Is this a game that will ever be my main game like GW1 was for me for 6 years? Obviously no.

See, that’s my opinion. That’s how I feel the Manifesto didn’t represent the atual game.

And you cannot disprove that I feel that way, cause it is just that: an opinion.

We’re still discussing the manifesto, it’s not really breaking any rules I can see. Why so anxious to close this thread? At least some progress was made here (as compared to other threads on the manifesto).

This has nothing to do with rules. You just keep changing your mind about what this thread is about. You said you wanted to clear up a couple of points that were in the blog…then it was about the entire manifesto. Then I said ok then let’s talk about the entire thing…then you basically correct me it isn’t and now it is…..

I am not anxious to close this thread I am just anxious to find what exactly your point is here because you keep jumping from one thing to another. I thought you had a specific point to make….now it’s turned into another discussion about the manifesto.

I told you you created another thread about the same subject. You said it wasn’t. Now it is…

Edit: I actually can say most people or it’s commonly known if those things are true. I’ve been on forums long enough to know certain things are commonly known. You may not agree and that’s fine, but it doesn’t make it less true.

Commonly assumed. Not known. Just because a lot of people have the same idea is not proof.

As Bertrand Russell put it: " If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing."

Anyone who disagrees with it hasn’t looked into it.

A phrase like this is arrogant and condescending and a falsehood. Just because you think you’re right, doesn’t mean people can’t come to a different conclusion. Your biggest assumption is that because you think something is true, it must be true for everyone. Having said that, I don’t know how many people lurk on the forums. I think people do, but I don’t KNOW it because I have no actual data to back this up.

Gehenna, I read these forums every night while laying in bed winding down. If ever, there is a voice of reason on this forum, you’re it. I enjoy your post. Thank you.

I think the hardcore in their little echo box of awesome assumed early on it was going to be a landside for Evon.

Who wouldn’t want the Fractal Evon promised? In reality it’s who cares about fractals. Hint, not the majority of players. So that wasn’t a factor.

BLC keys have fallen out of favor, unless the discount was extreme I wouldn’t care. I likely won’t notice the waypoint discount but everyone does use them. So so very slight lean to Ellen.

In the end it was just that Ellen just seemed more trust worthy while Evon came off as Lex Luthor. So Ellen takes the vote.

You, and other players like you, are exactly the reason why people who wanted the Abaddon fractal are so vehemently angry right now. Because people who don’t even run fractals decided which fractal they have to run. Fractals are picked at random, so you will be forced with a choice: Run the fractal you don’t want, or quit the group. You put this on fractal runners when you don’t even care about fractals, when in fact, the fractal is the ONLY bit of permanent content to come from this vote. The consequences of your vote for yourself are transient, they will go away. The consequence for fractal runners are enduring.

That is why we hate you, and every player like you. Would you like us to choose your personal story for you, and have the choice you want be thrown out and force you to run the story you don’t like?

We all paid our money for this game. We vote as we choose, for reasons we choose. If you can say you “hate” someone because of this game……well……maybe you need to take a step back and do some RL reevaluation.

You aren’t participating in the content you voted on. I do, I have to experience the consequences of your vote.

Like I said, would you want me choosing what content you do and don’t get to do, when I have no stake in that content myself?

When a President wins that I didn’t vote for, I have to experience his policies….like them or not. It’s called life, and it’s not always fair. You’ll learn that as you grow up. We all get the same opportunity to vote, and my reason for said vote doesn’t have to coincide with yours. If you’d like to reimburse me my $60 I paid for the game, I’ll be happy to change my vote. 48% of the votes went to Evon

What’s funny is that if Evon had won, all the Evon supporters would be telling the people who wanted the Reactor Fractal to “suck it up” because “even if it was 52%, Evon won, and that’s that.”

Irrelevant. Those people saying ‘Evon won and that’s that’ would be in the wrong in this scenario.

If Evon had won by such a small margin, it would have been equally acceptable to say ANet should make Thaumanova as well. The issue here isn’t which candidate won. The issue is that the player base is split right down the middle and catering to one half but not the other is an awful decision.

When will folks realize that the vote percentage has nothing to do with the player base? What if Kiel supporters voted on average of 20 each? What if Evon supporters voted on average of 1000 each? Or vice averse. There’s no way for us to know how many players voted for each candidate, and how many votes they cast. It’s all just speculation.
