If you think you found yourself having a hard time in the new maps, this is the place for you to find some useful tips to make your life easier.
1st: FULL ZERKER DOESN’T WORK. As a long time elementalist(now tempest), i used to run arround in full zerker and complete all content easily (2hit everything).
The thing with zerker was that we had in mind the thinking KILL IT BEFORE IT KILLS YOU.
This doesn’t work here. Why? you ask, because mobs have plenty of useful tricks in their hands, things like dodge, moving arround, rolling arround, shields, stealth, breakbars and other things that will make them hit you and kill you.
Not to mention that you will find urself fighting plenty of veterans and elites through the new region.
So what i suggest, try mixing some toughness and vitality in your gear. What worked for me, is changing my accessories/rings/amulet to celestial and i was able to get 2-3 more hits (having time to use your heal and dodge,etc.), i didn’t feel a dps loss.
2nd: USE PETS. If your class has access to any pet just use it, it will make your life easier. Pets can tank for you, can dps for you, and they are really helpful, even sometimes if u go down, pets can finish up enemy and you can rally. Add to this that pet can’t be killed by AOEs and actually they can survive for very long.
Now i know that some classes dont have access to pets so for my 3rd and final tip….
3rd: USE CONSUMAMBLES. The game provides you with plenty of useful consumambles that can make your life easier. For example, things like the frost gun can chill and stun enemies without even having access to that CC, you can take down whole breakbars with it. You can use Harpy Feathers ) to go on stealth and avoid mobs and such.
And then there are the pet consumambles, (oh i love those). They can help you even solo champions (you know from hero points), they can do what a pet can do, and they deal good dmg and they can survive huge amount of dmg. They last for 5 minutes and they have 30 minutes cooldown thats the only downside but you can use them when you are about to go against a tough guy or find urself in a hard situation.

First, you can unlock hero points at wvw, it is already known, check the patch notes.
Second most of the Champions at hero points are soloable just learn to play and use the mechanics the game provides you(consumables).
I have ran through plenty of group hero points and I have easily soloed them on my tempest.
Well i have to give it to them, overloads are really awesome, making life easier, but the rest of the class, no.
I get to slot tempest just for overloads but i dont feel like using anything else the spec provides
I pick tempest just for overloads, warhorn is boring(and useless @pve), shouts are not THAT bad but still have to compete with arcane and other utilities which are better, elite is again BAD cause i want to slot something that i would WANT to use regularly (actually every time its available, like with all the other classes, but that ELITE doesn’t give me that feeling(really situational).
where is karl with the notes from BWE3?
This is one of the reasons we dont have dedicated healers, having healing power as main component its useless cause the scale is poor even though most healing skills have increased cooldown.

Remember 400hp/s healing signet? +all the other effects from traits etc.
Tl/dr Tempest lacks purpose, lacks synergy, lacks meaningful effects and, most important of all, adds nothing new. It is just bad in all aspects and will be bad at release and in the future.
It feels bad to play it, and feels even worse to know you paid to be able play it.

There you have the whole tempest specialization in a nutshell.
I switched my IB for Arcane Wave for more blast finishers.
It was the most beloved utility for me and i had to take IB instead of it all this time, but now its back to my bar.
You can feel the nerf, not so the dmg but the increased radius makes it kinda bad now.

- Finishing an overload gives you quickness for 5 seconds (synergy with the dmg boost).
- Auras give quickness for 2 seconds (5 ICD).
- Shouts give us quickness for 2 seconds (5 ICD).
Final Note: Give us quickness!!!!!!

Maybe in 3 years we may see some buffs or something, who knows.
Other than Magnetic Aura, all other auras are kinda useless in pve.

I would say, charr mesmer.
Fire #4: might sharing, useless.
Fire #5: Fire field, (another one).
Water #4: Water wave knockback and heal, very slow though.
Water #5: Moving water field, (Field should stack on you, not run to one direction slower than you if you have swiftness).
Air #4: Lackluster cc and dmg.
Air #5: Most useless skill slow and low dps.
Earth #4: Only useful skill (cause blast finisher).
Earth #5: Slow moving dust storm, cant see if viable enough.
With warhorn skills in place right now, i am not seeing any ele picking it up over staff d/d s/f d/f if you dont buff the skills.
1000% agree with you, AFTERSHOCK sounds lame alone.
I hope they consider adding back the whole SHOCK AND AFTERSHOCK!!!

Ours dont CC at all, AND its a melee range arround us with huge channeling.
I don’t know guys, i have mixed feeling at this moment.
I was so happy that we would get something new to play after 3 years of same old stuff, and something new and shinny will come along that would probably change our playstyle, and bring nice new mechanics, new attacks etc.
but what i see is not what to expect, right now the tempest is mediocre at best, it is a support class with flows everywhere, i mean look at overloads or elite, or traits they are bad mostly, without any synergy to the whole class.
I know i may play it just so i can change my weapon for a bit, but i dont know if i will get away from staff.
Maybe we see some changes and buffs here and there, or else, next elite specialization better be something good.
Ok so with the expansion coming closer and closer, i have in mind how previous story ended with a such a bad fight over zhaitan.
Now since then Anet have improved to boss fights, and we may see a fair good fight with an elder dragon right now.
But comes to my mind how (and where) are we going to fight him.
Is it gonna be in an instanced story mission (you can fight him solo?)?
Is it gonna be in the open world, which we can fight him in an epic fight never seen before, with massive mechanics?
Is it gonna be in an raid instance which is gonna be hella hard to kill him?

I think Anet can do 2 or 3 of these together.
I find Open world fight very pleasing which can be pretty epic, and there you may fight him but not actually finish him, and he runs away into his lair (for those with the story can finish right there).
BUT it may go even more beyond and for the hardcores can go in an epic raid fight which 10 players can go and finish him off with again another epic and really hard fight.
OK here are my thoughts, what do you expect??

Rebound is a good opportunity for this, try what you said but instead of another aura, add quickness to the end of the effect, done elite fixed!

It even procs on attunement swap, so if u want to use a high cd skill on another attunement you cant use “Rebound” while you are changing cause it will proc on the swap and reduce the cd on this!!!!!!

They are almost unchanged since release dont expect anything to happen now (they are so focused on new stuff, than old things).
There was even a talk about being able to summon them underwater, (or new elements and stuff), it’s still on the talks after 3 years sadly…
If they start making BOSSES actually what BOSSES need to be (HUGE) then we wont have to worry about these things.
In gw2 most bosses are tiny as the players (looking at you taidha and svanir shaman) and in massive battles (10+) you start losing animations and stuff from it.
What needs to be done is making champions and bosses largely bigger than actual players. (300% the size of a huge norn, and start from there.).
Right now overloads even though are a nice concept they fall to the trap of being underused due to how u have to be locked for 5 seconds channel and a single interrupt will cancel the effect, and the effects are not even that awesome right now anyway…
Here are some ideas that came to my mind to add to the list of things that could be done to improve this wonderful concept. Here you go:
Overload FIRE: Reflect projectiles. This will give a better chance at using this skill at full potential (makes sense you are whirling arround).
Overload WATER: Immunity while you overload (makes sense you are inside a bubble).
Overload AIR: This one needs a stun or daze after 2 or 3 hits per target to make it a bit viable to use. ( remember kennens ulti from league of legends).
Overload EARTH: Make every pulse a combo blast finisher (3 or 4 pulses?), that would make it more cool to use too.

Like we’ve said a lot in this thread, these do not gel with what’s said in the leaked trailer, and that datamine is from over a year ago. It’s not necessarily relevant.
It does, however, show that ArenaNet is aware that restrictions need to exist to protect the game’s economy.
How does this not gel with what was said in the trailer. And I quote.

They said that wh sounds a bit annoying and they are trying to change that, so we have new sound effects for it, dunno if those are meant to actually fix it (?)
I wished for some new gameplay, but we didn’t get anything exciting this round.
I won’t quit ele and he will still be my main (depends on the awesomness of other classes xD [berserker]), but i will definitily wont touch warhorn as it is right now, seems pretty boring and i dont like our mainhands options either (at least for pve).
I guess there is room for improvement and i hope karl can give us a little love here and there to make it an exciting specialization at least on some degree so its not so underpowered and underwhelming.
PS: for example replace that elite with something exciting (give us quickness, that will synergize with overloads).

This skill DOES NOT NEED a rework, it NEEDS to get REPLACED!
1. Tempest (Overall): (1) It was horrible. Scratch/rework it completely.
So overall tempest was something I KNOW i won’t bother playing on HoT, staff is still superior and not having a single useful main hand weapon to use with it is such a bad idea.
2. Traits: (2) It was bad, needs a lot of fixes.
Missing lots of stuff.
3. Warhorn: (1) It was horrible. Scratch/rework it completely.
Lackluster, same as point 1.
4. Overloads: (2) It was bad, needs a lot of fixes.
Even though i liked the concept, i don’t see as they are right now to be used by any ele, cause they have an initial 5second cd (witch is more than an ele stays in any attunment), and getting your attuenments to a 20sec cd just for a mediocre skill, with a high cast time is a NO & NO.
5. Healing Skill: (1) It was horrible. Scratch/rework it completely.
This one it will not being used other than the sound effect trolling.
6. Utilities: (2) It was bad, needs a lot of fixes.
Need a little support from traits.
7. Elite Skill: (1) It was horrible. Scratch/rework it completely.

I wasn’t around for Scarlett’s fiasco, but there were some really broken things about her. Almost to the point of mary suisms. A random Sylvari popped out of a tree and while most are naive at birth, she goes and takes on a million different subjects, was a top performing student in two Asuran colleges, becomes a master of machinery and engineering, and gets to be the first to peer directly into the very fabric of the universe itself.
The alliances always struck me a little odd too, since she was apparently able to waltz into Dredge/Fire Legion hangouts and say “heeeyo you two should hook up”. Even weirder seemed the Toxic Alliance, in which I have a hard time imagining a Sylvari hopping into Krait territory and saying she could bring a prophet when Krait loathe anything that isn’t them and normally don’t listen to a single non-Krait word.
Though like I said, I wasn’t around to see how she managed that, so there’s probably details in those I glossed over. Still haven’t seen the cinematic summary woops.

There’s not any details about all of those things i am afraid. And i guess we will never learn, except if arenanet gets out LS season1 with more details about that stuff.
Also there’s a good chance WoodenPotatoes (youtuber) may have anything relevant to these things.

.. and doing a rollback now that’s not too late…
- Living Story Season 2 chapters locked.
- All collections reset.
- Dry Top & The Silverwastes achievement categories reset

Mine is too, and i have finished all achievements in them, and now they are locked too.
Skills unlocking have been reseted too, and now need to get them back.

Perhaps they’ve decided that since they’re going to do an in-depth look at the specialization during the livestream anyway, spending the time to create a teaser trailer is a waste of time.
But it’s not, people on youtube prefer to check ~1min videos than 20minutes videos of class preview.
Why u all think that it will affect the skills your allies are using? For me its really more natural think the shout will affect the skills AFTER u had cast it. If it is not like this, arenanet srsly need to make it work in this way.
In this way u can even coordinate that without TS. A buff icon that say you that next skill u use will have CD reduced will be welcome.I really think it has a lot of potential, at least in pvp. Surely 50% CD reduction would be really better
That’s what exactly everyone else is saying..
So most of the thing i was waiting for the new skills was the elite. Right now its the only class that i never use my elite cause i dont find them useful, i thought its a good chance to get something worthy of the slot and actually using it, but NO get this aoe shout that will reduce your next skill by 25%, so if u press it and use meteor shower u can use it again in 16 seconds instead of 20, or if u use lava font u can use it in 3 seconds intead of 4, so much potential..
Something must be done about it, and Water soothing mist 200% is still 100%.
Why can’t we keep the rewards?
