You know I’ve been stocking up on t6 mats since about 4 months ago and I’ve seen the prices just drop a ton on some, like totems. Though I don’t view it as an investment – I just consider it as a “peace of mind” knowing that I have two gifts ready to make ASAP when new legendaries come out.

Unsure about lodestones yet, but I’ll keep an eye over the next few weeks.

You implement the system you describe and these skins suddenly lose any value. We don’t need these skins flooding the market. Rarity is good.

I’m split on this.

I’m 100% behind speculating lodestones. They are going to go up in the near future.

The big question though is, not how much, but when?

I’m not sure if lodestone investment is OK right now, because we have yet to see how the new champ/dungeon rewards will result in lodestone supply.

Over the next few weeks we shall see the effect. If the supply increases significantly to push the price down, then I think lodestones will be a great buy opportunity at it’s lowest. If not, then lodestone hoarding is a good investment now.

tldr: it really depends on how you think the champ changes will affect the lode market.

Back when I used to farm shelt/pen and other stuff, it depends on the # of kills.

I.e. constant spawning of mobs at a steady stream will warrant DR in about 30 mins.

Resets of DR is a bit more tricky.

Sometimes for me it reset after killing random mobs for 30 minutes in another zone. Sometimes it resets after 24H.

We’ll never truly know.

I opted to buy char slots so I could have 1 of each profession. To me, each plays differently, and I enjoy experiencing them all. Beyond that, I will buy additional slots to have duplicates of my favorites in the other races so I can experience the other story lines. But, this is just me though.

I have all classes except necro to lvl 80. Most of them I crafted to 80. And I had to buy extra character slots to accomodate it.

Funny thing is, I don’t even play all my classes well. I just want them there as an option. They’re all geared well in exotics but I wasted so much gold on them “just cause”

I guess I’m just content that, if I ever get bored with my main, I have lvl 80 characters out there ready to experiment and play with. I still have a lot to learn about thiefs and engis, for e.g.

Right now I just park them at tough JP’s hoping for a free, quick precursor.

After finishing the personal story I continued on with my role as a soldier, cleansing of Orr, killing and slaying at least 10,000 undead.

After that, I returned to my part-time job as a pawn-shop – taking advantage of other players who are too impatient to sell their goods at market prices. Made me pretty rich. I have also consorted with other players and we came up with a guild of sorts – a mutual-fund if you will – and speculated on commodities and items.

Now, I’m a part-time dungeon looter, philantropist as well as a fighter in the Mists for God and Country.

Pretty much this, in response to your question Vol. It wasnt substantial real combat. Ocassionally a small pack of pirates. Ocassionally you stumble on some charr coming out of a portal.

To this end, Southsun was probably the most significant real content we received. Even though it promoted karma trains, you had people completing dynamic events..DYNAMIC EVENTS! Champion mobs, Karka queens. Karka invading towns, and we have to hold locations to spawn the queen. These things that are everywhere in the game, except in most of these mini patches.

Granted, southsun is as empty as it was. But lets be honest, its the only patch this year that has had real combat/content with dynamic events.

Southsun is an entire zone. It is unreasonable to expect such a thing to happen every 2 weeks. Same with new dragons or insane new monsters. Do that every 2 weeks and you simply don’t have enough monsters left to drive forward the lore and the game.

I want epic content just as much as you guys but you need to realistic. Stuff like that takes time and sometimes you need to prolong content so that you don’t run out of it.

We as GW2 players are spoiled as kitten. Other games like Rift, when I played it during release, we had zero content updates until several months later. Even Aion didn’t have anything special added until they had the expansions.

I agree with you.. takes time and is un realistic for a 2 week update schedule. But then maybe we shouldnt have 2 week updates.

Instead of pouring resources into the fluffy stuff we have been given, maybe devote more of THOSE resources to the real content that drives MMOs. The game is nearing a year old, with many updates and improvements that have been made for sure. But I would rather trade this living story 2 week schedule for a two month schedule of true content updates. Or even a 3 month schedule.

But, we can still just play mini games I guess, in the mean time. Belchers bluff anyone?

They could just stay put and let the game play out for 6 months with nothing but bug fixes. And then at the end of 6 months, they come out with a huge whopper and you could consider it an expansion.

But imagine how boring those 6 months are? People would get restless and continuosly whine that no content is being added.

In the end, both alternatives provide the same number of content.
You may prefer the former but I prefer the latter. It keeps the community interested and engaged and they actually feel like the game is being paid attention to by the devs. The game doesn’t get boring.

I believe it was Colin who stated that they adopted the 2-week schedule because their internal metrics showed that gameplay for users dropped off after 2 weeks.

1.) Loot does not drop differently. The number of drops you’d get used to matter up until around February/March but it changed. Now party/solo does not make a difference.

2.) Doing more damage does not give you more drops. But you need to meet a certain threshold of damage to be considered for loot. Once you are credited for loot, it doesn’t matter if you keep dps’ing or not.

MF does not determine your drop rate in general. In fact, we don’t know much about MF in general and how it rolls, or whether it only works on rares/exotics or blues/greens as well.

But from my personal experience, with over +1000h farming since release, MF gear at the minimum helps increase your rare/exotic drops.

I don’t even know where to begin. First, I’ll say the wallet and PVE culling is good. I am pleased with a lot of the “quality of life” improvements that are being made to the game with each patch. I feel they are needed and finally getting some attention.

But I ask my fellow forum-goers…how do you feel about all of these themed-updates?

In my opinion, the content being put into the game is abysmal. Call it “free abysmal content”. Where are the threats to Tyria that we must use the skills we have to defeat them? You know, those buttons and abilities we have used for 80 levels? Things like Death Blossom, or Heart Seeker? Where are the enemies to kill that actually pose a threat to the world? Where is the content that is not just a list of achievement check boxes for a mini at the end of the rainbow?

Yes, some of these updates are fun and neat-o for a while. But really, did you create a character in an MMO, with abilities and skills to kill things, just so you can play minigames that replace your skill bar anyways? Or to click on objects in the world? Is this why you play an MMO? Role playing, and interacting in a living world is definately important, I agree. But I also feel that we should be defeating enemies of value and purpose. Things that have meaningful ties to story and lore, and that we feel a sense of accomplishment once they are killed(no, I am not speaking of loot).

Where are the dragons? Where are the gods(besides chillin’ in abandoned Orr). Wheres the REAL combat, the REAL content?

Yet another patch, another fantastic and lovely living story update with beautiful bunnies and confetti. Yet another patch with no substantiated or meaningful content, or content that we can go out and see in Tyria, conquer and have a meaningful impact on the game. They say it is coming, but in the mean time…it is patch after patch of festivels, mini games, fireworks, celebrations, RNG…NOTHING that likens to a traditional MMO. I know this is not a traditional MMO, but it should have some traditional updates, like REAL content.

The content that is being given to us is all dessert. Wheres the meat and potatos?

I have read and heard the the mystick forge stone will act as a random ‘exotic’ if you have three other exotics.

Which means, if I put 3 exotic pistols in the forge with a mystic forge stone, it will act as the fourth random exotic.

BUT, I have read that it acts as a totally random exotic. Which means it acts like a random weapon or random armor. This pulls in the armor loot tables also instead of just the weapon loot tables.

Just what I have read, and if true this means the chance for precursor will be a lot lower because you are pulling from both the weapon and armor loot tables instead of just the weapon loot tables.

If you put in 3 weapons and a stone, you will get a weapon. You will not get an armor at all.

• laurels

Laurels are a general currency. Pristine Fractals aren’t.

And just cause people don’t farm Arah and may not have stacks of tokens doesn’t mean they should be excluded. It’s still a dungeon token.

DR in CoF is a non-factor. CoF1 is profitable because of gold drops from mobs, and DR has no influence on gold drops.

But that whole consideration is pointless since dungeons are changing this Tuesday.

Ah, I didn’t realize the mobs dropped so much coin (I don’t do CoF too often to begin with lol).

Though I did know that dungeons are changing soon, and so are the pricetags on Aetherized weapons, thus is the reason I’m trying to rapidly obtain my revolver before that happens.

If you really truly desperate and up against the wall in time, I suggest buying gems and selling them and getting your revolver.

And even if you do end up getting 1 token to use on weapons, keep an eye on prices (especially buy orders). It may be profitable to buy one weapon, sell it for gold and still have enough to buy a revolver + profit.

Keys are not worth it. They more often than not produce a result that does not progress your chances towards a goal. And when they do, it takes more chances.

Or think of it this way. Farming for keys and then opening it can result in two things. One, remaining in status quo (you don’t get a scrap or a token). Or two, getting a scrap/token (rare chance)

Meanwhile, farming gold results in one thing, and that’s an increase in wealth.

I would very much prefer the guaranteed increase in wealth as opposed to the option to gamble for very rare chance.

But personally, I would not gamble on these skins. I don’t find them attractive. I would rather save the scraps and hope for the next set of weapons that look awesome.

1.) materials will drop based on their level. So you can farm all you want in Queensdale, but you won’t make any good money
2.) weapon skins will drop from these champs. If they are rare enough, farming Queensdale won’t make you rich all of a sudden. If they are frequent enough, you won’t get rich at all. So it’s a moot point

People farm those champions in Queensdale because it’s great exp for a certain level range.

Buy gems to convert to gold. Helps achieve an item (i.e. a legendary) especially if you are only 100-200g off from finishing it.

This is the reason why they implemented this. So that you wouldn’t have to sit on the sidelines for the whole duration. At least this way you can get revenge (and also keep getting points)

Hey I wouldn’t mind but there is a big problem with that idea. Look at the thank you gifts they have given to people a few times if they even if they spent $10 on gems. It was a very nice thank you and I enjoyed it. However each time people started running around with their heads exploding over it. Just imagine your idea. It would turn in a global thermal nuclear war around here.

Well the people who complained about it are the same people that would complain if Anet gave everyone a precursor – they’d kitten and ask “how about more?”

Rewards are fine as long as they are not expected. There’s a difference between “Buy X and get Y” as opposed to “Hey you bought X, here’s a gift of Y as a token of appreciation”

I most certainly didn’t pay $+1000 on this game expecting to be rewarded with unique gifts. Would I welcome it? Absolutely.

Please be careful with your skill points though.

If you do not plan on having a legendary you could spend freely, but it can be quite difficult and time-consuming to get plenty of skillpoints (especially when you are mindful and notice you need them)

There are ways to indirectly convert your skillpoints so you have better use for them, either through mystic weapons or through material promotions.

There was a website out there that showed the best method to convert your skillpoints to gold (with real-time prices). Unfortunately I forgot it but I hope someone here has it.

You can use skill points to buy certain crafting materials. Go to Miyani @ the forge, you’ll see what you can buy…
