Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
Right now may be the best time to sell.
I could definitely see arenanet adjusting the supply for lodestones, cause right now it’s ridiculous.
They may include them in the heavy moldy bags, or introduce them as drops for more mobs (maybe vets/champs)
It’s simple math man.
Let’s assume for practical purposes, that the chance rate for items is as follows:
White: 30%
Blue: 20%
Green: 10%
Yellow: 3%
Orange: 0.5%
And let’s say you have a total of 150% magic find equipped.
Those rates increase to:
White: 45%
Blue: 30%
Green: 15%
Yellow: 4.5%
Orange: 0.75%
So why do people wear MF? Because they want more yellow/orange drops. Well the drop rate is bad to begin with, and even with MF, the increase is not noticeable, so that’s why you hear people complaining.
You will notice more whites/blues/greens, though.
That being said, MF boosters are not worth it because of diminishing returns. There is so much unknown as to how long it lasts.
If you have the will to hold off on making your legendary, hold off.
Precursor prices will drop. They may drop as soon as the Dec. 14 patch, or maybe in the bigger patches in January/February.
And you never know what else is included in those patches? More legendary skins?
What I would do is take that money you would have spent on a precursor and buy T6 mats, specifically armored scale (look at my post history to see my post). Or buy lodestones or other T6.
Yesterday I bought about 2000 armored scales at roughly 8s each. That’s 160G worth. Armored scales reached a high of 22S. Let’s assume a more reasonable average of 20S.
That’s 12S profit, or 240G profit.
Why is armored scale a good investment and why will it go up?
1.) Well, right now it is the only T6 that has had a dramatic decline (bloods are declining but very slowly)
You can point to the numerous bots that are operating underwater. More often than not, out of sight = out of mind. Bots like to farm the center lake in borderlands, as well as lost shore (which is pretty deserted to begin with). You can’t point out the fractals because the water instance is not guaranteed, and you only have a certain amount of mobs to farm (no more than 25). Just like the t6 prices before the initial bot ban early in November, this is a great opportunity to buy. I have utmost confidence that Arenanet will ban them, but you need to be quick. They ban in waves, so you can expect a dramatic increase in price when it happens.
2.) Armored scale, as well as all T6 mats, will go up as soon as the precursor scavenger hunt goes into effect. It’s safe to assume that this event will make precursors relatively easier to acquire. That means more people will gain confidence in starting/continuing their legendary quest, and will look to the other mats to complete it. T6 mats, lodestones, dyes, certain foods – any material that can be bought on the outpost will rise in price. How much? I don’t know, but it will rise due to demand.
3.) No one enjoys farming underwater, and mobs are highly spaced out. When people see high T6 prices, they often go out and farm it themselves. It’s common sense to target land-based mobs since they’re easier to cluster and aoe.
On a side note:
You may look at the prices of vial of powerful blood and totem and ask why they are still high?
Vial of Powerful Blood is still high because there are currently very limited choices in farming them. In the level 80 zones, you have the beasts south of Claw of Jormag, or the harpy fractal. There isn’t a whole lot of opportunity to farm them. Not to mention that there is a very nice sceptre out there, the Eye of Rodgort, that requires 500 total vial of powerful blood to craft. Because it looks nice, it’s high in demand, and this keeps pushing the price up.
Totems are still high because there is limited supply. The only mobs that drop them in the level 80 zone are the grawl and the inquest in malchor’s, the latter being underwater. So again, very limited supply.
Small sample size.
I just realized this after someone told me, and it’s quite reasonable.
You should forge all your greens that you pick up instead of vendoring them since there is a good chance you’ll get a yellow back. With these current drop rates you can get more rares since the DR for green items is longer.
Let’s say the average yellow is 30s and the average value of a green is 2s. That gives you about 4-5 tries at a yellow before you would match the value of a yellow.
Of course, there is a convenience factor here, but if you have a forge conduit, it shouldn’t be a problem. If cost is a concern, simply go to your WvW borderland and use it there. To port back to where you left just go to the character screen.
It is safe to say that all big event chests in Cursed Shore can drop it. Also, frostgorge and WvW chests (this has been proven too, someone got dusk).
Not sure if teq can drop it.
I got most of mine (other than buying) from heavy moldy bags.
I remember selling 40 for 30S (I bought a bunch after trying to control the market)
Now they’re over 1g each.
:(
My Bitfrost hasn’t changed, not that it needs any changing
“I go completely unrewarded from this dragon-slaying event while someone else walks away with a precursor.”"
No need to embellish things to make people feel sorry for you. Let’s admit it, you’d get blues/greens.
I have never heard of this happening, nor have I heard other people complaining about it.
I always laugh when people cry about precursors prices, when the precursor is the last thing people should be worried about.
Do you guys have any idea on the cost for the other items? Lodestones, shards, dyes, or t6 mats? Metals?
you want lower precursor prices? Well then I must ask you first, why do you want a legendary? Cause it looks cool and no one has it? Well if we drop the prices to make it affordable to everyone, then that just doesn’t look right, does it? That would force Arenanet to make another tier above legendary status, and based on the reaction of ascended items, that wouldn’t go so well.
Then again, I’m biased, cause I have a legendary myself.
It’s only 15 seconds, not long enough to make you impatient
I assume it’s a safeguard to prevent people from spamming the servers and overloading it with requests.
OP, why are you so concerned about this and writing paragraphs upon paragraphs on it? If he chooses to spend more money on a legendary than his own gear set then that’s his choice
I don’t know about you guys, but I like my staff!
There’s nothing wrong with controlling markets
Starting about 1:30 AM I all of a sudden got 3 rares in one event, and another 4 in the next event. I’ve been talking to people on my server and there are many others who confirmed that they are getting a lot more rare drops.
How about you guys? Perhaps there was a hotfix?
Uncontested on Yak’s Bend
Was just finished about 10-15 minutes ago
gogogo
Uh, no the economy is not in shambles.
It’s good that the prices are high.
If you are not using T6 mats, you could just sell it and use that money for whatever else you want to buy.
How can you farm, when you hit the DR every 10 minutes? Now that the botters are as good as gone, maybe its time to remove the DR from the loot.
You obviously don’t play the game. DR takes much longer to hit than 10 minutes.
Well it already has a cool effect with the clouds and moon rotating, so I guess they wanted each legendary to have 1-2 special effects
are you getting all this data from gw2spidy?

Listing fees exist as a gold sink
It also serves as a way to discourage using the TP as a free bank, as well as limit the number of items on the outpost as much as possible to keep the outpost servers running smoothly
They own the market for such items, they have no need to give us discounts on something where there is no other competition.
It’s not really competition – every business, whether they have a many competitors or few, wish their customers to buy more as much as possible.
In retail it’s used often so that inventory can be cleared out. Of course, inventory is not an issue with digital goods – but discounting can provide me incentive to buy more now.
Arguably, if this was done, a corresponding “discount” for gold to gems would have to be offered. That’s if ANet really wished to keep the two in parity. Additionally, they’d have to keep the haircut between the two in proportion as well, so they don’t allow for any arbitrage.
Easier for them to manage a fixed rate, really.
Excellent point, I forgot to think about that – that would certainly be an issue.
It could be in the best interest for Anet to provide a BMSM incentive for people buying gems from gold since that keeps the gold price for gems sustained.
Would love a dev response on this!
I enjoy this game very much and wouldn’t mind dropping a lot of money (I’ve already dropped $300 on the gem store).
What I don’t understand, however, is the fixed price per gem no matter how many you buy.
The lowest you can go is $10.00 for 800 gems
The highest is $50.00 for 4000 gems.
That’s 80 gems per $1, no matter how many you buy.
Wouldn’t it encourage people to buy more, if you had a declining cost the more you buy?
Say, for buying 4000 gems, you only have to pay $40, or 100 gems per $1?
Bad timing on reset, sorry guys ;|
We just secured it, come get your shards.
The simplest way to do this?
Switch servers until you get an EB keep that you can easily walk in to.
So go to the low-pop servers and queue into EB (it should be short/non-existent)
If you see a fort that is occupied by another server that you need? Well then go transfer to that server.
Better take advantage of it now while server transfers are unlimited.
