Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
My rationale is this.
If someone wants to buy my precursor for 600g, then the price should be at least 600g.
If someone else wants to buy it for only 20g, but the highest offer is 600g, then why in the world should I sell it for only 20g?
Buyers and sellers set the price. Precursor prices are fine.
No idea if this has been brought up before but I noticed 100% increase in the price of Globs of Ectoplasm. Yesterday the cheapest alI could find on TP was 32silver and I believe that few days ago it was not more than 17s. Also few other T6 mats prices spiked but I consider it to be normal.
Does it have something to do with DR and less rares being dropped accross the game or some individuals decided to take over the market of ectos?
Ectos haven’t been 17s for months.
T6 mats spiked but considered it normal? But not ectos? They all spiked due to the bot ban wave.
This was already asked and responded to by Smith a few weeks ago.
I think he said something along the lines of that it takes awhile to come up with the information, organize it, put it in a presentable format, in all languages associated with the game.
It was your guildmate’s human error, not Arenanet’s.
Ever thought that they are all actually bots? Geez.
If I were a botter I’d sure as hell try and defend myself on these forums
I find this post disrespectful and rude. Until you learn to stop and think about what you’re asking, take in the information you have and make a logical question I’ll not be replying.
To be quite fair, there are a lot of things that come off as disrespectful and rude to the player-base that is only addressed by continual vague statements about how it will be changed in the future, e.g. pre-cursors that dev’s continually pointed out when the high price was around 200G that they were too high, and not several have tripled, or even quadrupled in price and this was months ago. Lodestones, Etco’s and t6 mats follow the same venue UNTIL the bots come into play, which is hilarious.
The reality is, regardless of whether his post would have been kind and put in a thoughtful manner, we would not have received an actual answer to his question as opposed to more vaguery about something that could happen.
It’s really annoying.
Being vague isn’t rude or disrespectful.
It’s called being vague.
It’s like you saying being happy is being disrespectful.
Perhaps they knew that the selling price was ridiculous and it’s better to significantly undercut so that your fee is not wasted.
I did the exact same thing when I came across to selling a lvl 80 rare dagger. It was listed at 80S, which is ridiculous for lvl 80 rares. The most they go up to (at that time) was 45s and usually around 30s. So I listed mine at 30s because I knew that the price was temporary and no one else in their mind would buy at 80s.
I for one find +400g for charged lodestones acceptable, because it’s what the market demands and something that people are obviously willing to pay for.
If somehow I have all the lodestones in the world, and I find a buyer who is willing to pay 2G, and another at 2.1g, and several more all the way up to 4g…why would I sell it to the 2g buyer?
Seriously, you’re just being lazy and want your legendary ASAP. You need to work hard for your items.
What is the confusion here? They have an economist to look into the TP and the economy in general. The game economy is based on supply & demand which, like any other market, is occasionally manipulated by one or more rich people and/or exploits .
(how can someone exploit the real world economy? Oh I don’t know, perhaps securitization of trash mortgages which are then rated AAA and sold to pension plans?)(http://www.marketplace.org/topics/business/fallout-financial-crisis/financial-crisis-101-cdos-explained).
We all know precursors are insane right now, and ANet has mentioned the topic several times so they are aware of it and at the very least investigating ways to make them more accessible. As far as other materials, some are used in popular recipes (Charged Lodestone) and others aren’t (Glacial Lodestone). My guess would be that ANet’s method of addressing this, if it even thinks it’s worth addressing, would be to release some recipes that use the less valuable lodestones and stop releasing recipes that use the more valuable lodestones. No matter what is done, some materials will always be more valuable than others; in other words, don’t hold your breath for the day when all T6 mats have values within 1% of each other lol.
That’s what I find hilarious when people want precursors to be cheap. Making them cheaper will only increase the demand for T6 mats and lodes even further. Yes, it’ll be harder to manipulate but it’s still going to be hella expensive.
I did not promise to do anything to lodestones, nor did that blog have anything to do with lodestones.
You were talking about balancing the market by adding more ways to get items if they were lacking places to get them in game.
And based on how many threads there are on the forums about this topic and how much they cost lodestones are clearly not balanced in this game.
So what if the number of mobs in the world that drop moltens is the same as charged?
They’re clearly not lacking. One lodestone is simply in higher demand than the other.
GW2’s TP is by a wide margin less effectively manipulated than the other games mentioned in this thread.
Like I’m gonna believe that till you fix the lodestone imbalance!
What, because high prices are caused purely by speculation?
I tend to believe that the biggest reason for those high prices are simply supply/demand….
Oh I’m sorry, I thought mr john smith promised to increase the supply of lodestone drops based on lack of supply.
You know, Like he promised in this post!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/john-smith-on-the-state-of-the-guild-wars-2-economy/
We’ve noticed several markets that are clearly out of sync in terms of supply and demand. It isn’t interesting or fun to have a market flooded with items that contain very little value, so we’re making adjustments to the game every day. Players can expect to see these markets even out over time.
How are these prices considered balanced?!
Did you even read the blogpost? lol
1) p2p mail trading is the equivalent of using the black market, if you get scammed, it’s your own fault for going outside the framework set-up to protect you and the economy.
2) it’s a PvP zone, enemies attacking you is not griefing, it’s the point of the mode you are playing. Sure, some players choose to let enemy players pass, that’s their prerogative. Mine is to kill or impede invaders in any way I can.
3) Don’t go afk in a hostile zone. If you want to “safely” go afk, just log out. it won’t cost you anything.
There are some actual ways to grief in the game but these 3 examples are not griefing.
Here are some griefing scenarios:
-choir bell spamming
-luring mobs to node miners
-dropping lots of siege at a door to prevent people from supplying one at a time
-luring more mobs to someone solo’ing champs/vets
-taking aggro and luring mob away
The three OP listed are just things he/she doesn’t like in the game and wants to be tailored to his/her tastes.
1.) Tax agencies DO tax bartered goods. Not sure which country you come from that don’t doesn’t do that. And how exactly does having a trading post equate to griefing and trolling. Really? Your fault for taking the risk of mail transactions. Not Arenanet’s fault.
2.) You expect to go to a WvW area and be greeted with kisses and hugs? You don’t like getting killed, don’t go to the area.
3.) Their fault for being afk.
So I love using the outpost, I kill people in puzzles, and I don’t even bother rezzing people who are afk. If that makes me a griefer, kitten I’m a bad person. I should get banned.
People are speculating that legendary dyes will come out.
This sounds unlikely. Even if it were reasonable to speculate on legendary dyes, hoarding up U. dyes aren’t the way to go about capitalizing on it.
kind of like hoarding t6 mats for both a bot ban, and an eventual increase in price when precursor prices fall?
It’s kind of ridiculous how players are quick to slam the devs for a ninja nerf on every little thing. Take a look at the weekly glob salvage nerf threads.
You should really request to move it to Suggestions, the devs actually go through there
Highly unlikely they would confirm/deny, but I doubt they’d implement it.
Just look at how difficult it would be to implement story changes.
It’s not broken – Mjolnir is one of the most rare and expensive skins in the game – it’s not a legendary but it’s clear that it is intended to be very very rare.
No, it is broken. Mjolnir is not rare – its easy to make and the recipe to make it is well known. Level 1 char with 0 hours played across account can make mjolnir in 5minutes.
What’s rare are materials that are required for Mjolnir, which are not mjolnir specific but shared across various items.
Anything that takes more than 3 months of casual play to attain is ludicrous, and I have a job that pays for the roof and the car to worry about.
It’s time for ANet to realign its loyalties from kids with too much time on their hands to people with paychecks who can actually monetize their game, before they skip town for being ignored.
I feel very similar to this. I ve bought a game, I do enjoy it, but vast majority of aesthetic content is locked away behind paywall or spending XXXX hours. I ll keep playing, for some more time, but its unlikely i ll buy expansions.
So then it is rare, what are you getting at? Your rationale is like saying Sunrise is as rare as Vision of the Mists
I dont think weapons will have agony resist, if anything they’ll have some sort of ascended damage that will be required for certain encounters or/and mobs.
Not going to happen. Imagine the outcry if they implemented that? You’d have parties requiring legendaries only.
People are speculating that legendary dyes will come out.
Is it really that much of a hassle for you to keep a few more times? Are you up against the clock or something?
I agree the TP could be better but I’m not annoyed by it.
Hey guys as some of you know VR hosted a huge WvW raid today for SoR/TC/SBI. And guys im getting mixed emotions about this little shindig today. And most of it is really not about the event. Most of it is issues you guys have with the game itself pertaining to WvW. Like big zergs or ppl not rendering fast enough. Look guys I just do come up with events to encourage ppl to play. Is that so bad? Am I doing something wrong? Today every WvW map was on a 1 hour+ que waiting time. Tryna tell me that happens everyday all day? Maybe in T1 idk. from what I saw ppl had a great time and alot of SoR said they have more respect for tarnished coast because of EB battles. Is that bad? Is this game not made for players to play together? So whats all this negativity all about? Someone plz enlighten me I have ppl cussing me out and other people asking when is the next im so confused.
Not even sure why you care about it. If people don’t like it, let them cry about it. As long as you’re not doing anything that gets you banned.
You heard the man
EVERYONE, BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY
In a perfect world you would be able to choose if you want a 24 hour cycle or the 80-40 cycle. But I doubt Anet would go to such an extent to please its gamers.
And well yeah, it’s a good question. If I may compare to other MMO’s, there have been plenty that use the PST or Central fixed time without complaint. But granted, it might prove difficult to go without raging gamers to change it this far in.
Not only that, but there are so many other variables that you need to watch out for. How about weapons that change according to day/night? Dynamic lighting? Events that depend on day/night cycle (if there are any)? It just gets very complicated and it pulls resources away from bug fixing.
You make a fair point indeed.
How would you feel about having a longer, if not full day and night cycle in cities?
I don’t like full day/and night cycles. I’d prefer a 12 hour cycle, but again it’s not really a concern.
Probably because, as is, it’s very hard to tell the difference between day/night without looking up.
One of the devs stated they are planning new legendary items, which could include both more weapons and armors. This was back in October/November.
got link to the post?
It was in the blogpost with the ascended introduction
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
“You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons. Legendary items were always intended to be on par with other “best-in-slot” items. So fear not, all existing Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons at the same time that we add Ascended weapons to the game. Thus Legendaries will remain “best-in-slot” items. All Legendary items going forward will be of Ascended power. We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently”

This thread will probably be locked

the problem is not more places to get them but horrible drop rate.your lucky to get 1 pr hour. even more lucky if you manage to get more than 1 pr hour.
and you can farm them for 2h at a time since its required to hold dwayna temple to make them spawn.Thats what I meant, more places beside Orr means a more effective place to farm, which pushes the prices down. Its the reason why corrupt lodestone will always be less than charged, because you can get them from most of the mobs in frostgorge.
A better drop rate too after that stealth Nerf they put on us…
Uh, nope. The reason why it’s lower is because there is less demand for that lodestone since the exotics and legendaries made out of it aren’t as high demanded as those for charged.
And if in any event you get bored of those other things to do…there are other personal stories for the other races. Not to mention, each of those races have three separate stories to choose from at the beginning.
Maybe because the average player won’t be able to play long enough and see changes in the day cycle if you were to use the 24 hour period.
Well, yes. That’s what I said in my first post. It’s not really a good argument because there are equally as much, or at least a considerable amount of players who -do- want a longer day and night cycle. But yes, you talk about average player. But what about when you log on at 22:00 (10PM) and you’re in a town like Divinities Reach, and it’s broad daylight? I mean c’mon -if I’m, say a roleplayer- I would like to be able to play in a world that doesn’t have a sun circling the world of Tyria in a 80 minute day.
Sure, I know Anet has offered realism up to compromise, which is grand for the “Average player” but to make it as short as 80 to 40 ratio is just overdoing it. 4 Hours, even 2 hours would have been fine too, no?
Isn’t a short cycle like this equally crazy like a 24-hour cycle? I’m happy to make-do with only 1/4th of a “real” cycle.
Please, tell me what you think?
I doubt a huge majority even care about the cycle. It’s a non-issue for me personally, and there are more concerns in the game than the time cycle.
It’s pointless to discuss the merits of a 2 hour or 4 hour cycle as opposed to a 1 hour one, it’s entirely subjective.
On a similar note, how exactly would you handle people from different time zones? Sure you can lock the cycle to PST time, but then you’ll also have people from other time zones upset.
Overall, I think it’s not really something that needs a whole lot of consideration. They just decided to have a fixed, short interval and stuck with it.
The Flame & Frost update discussed NEW additions.
It doesn’t discuss the improvements/fixes, which still are happening. Those details are coming out on the patch notes on the 28th.
I must apologize for the tone of my post- too many bugs in last nights session- ended up on the forums, and so my annoyance showed.
HAVING a legendary DOES show your prowess. . .that youve got 100% map completion, done x dungeon y times for the tokens, and got lots of karma and skill points, and badges.
The mats can be bought so in my eyes are not a signs of prowess ( granted they cost lots/ take time to farm)
BUT i am sure there are people in the game that have EVERYTHING except the precursor, and because of this do not have a legendary, so they cannot show their prowess to the world because they did not have a RANDOM precursor drop.
The only thing that should be random is the clovers
EVEN putting 4 unique weapons in the forge does not guarantee a precursor
HOW DIFFICULT WOULD IT BE TO ADD A FEW RECIPES TO THE FORGE?
4 FIREBRINGERS= 1 ZAPEDIT: so there’s 20 known precursors so add 20 recipes to the forge- surely its not that difficult/complicated????
You know I’d agree with you if gambling to get a precursor was the only way to get it…OH WAIT
You can buy it off the TP!
It’s your fault you decided to gamble. You lost, stop crying about it and learn that you will lose more often than you will win.
Maybe because the average player won’t be able to play long enough and see changes in the day cycle if you were to use the 24 hour period.
I don’t think there’s a problem with the game. No offense, but maybe you get bored easily?
It’s a glitch. And no, you won’t get banned for that.
Guys. Guys. I’m thinking about switching servers. Should I go to Maguuma?
Sure if you want to steamroll through T4 this week, only to get destroyed in the weeks thereafter.
Maguuma is only destroying right now because they were slotted in T4 before 10-15 WvW guilds transferred.
Lets be honest here, some items are pure insane to get that’s why you don’t see Mjolnir for example.
People saying that the should be hard to get, they are … any of you farming for 2 weeks for 1 single item is effort enough with 4 hours per day to get that single item.In my 600 hours i got ~200 gold and most of it sank in items and things like this and its ok, but i realize as the time goes on that im not getting closer to my goal, im getting further away since prices are controlled. And i bet a lot of you experienced this, that instead of getting closer to your goal it seems that each day your not making any progress.
And another thing just look at this:
Its on almost all the illegal sites. Who are we kidding around, most of the TP legendary are belonging to same people that have multiple account with boots and controlling the market.
Its not a coincidence the illegal gold cost is exactly the same amount as a TP posted legendary.
You’re only at 600 hours. Don’t expect to get a legendary unless you get lucky on drops. And if you only have 200g by now, either you’re doing the wrong things to make money or you’re spending it on a lot of stuff.
I do agree some exotics crafted through the MF use a ridiculous amount of mats (like Gift of Light) but I think the devs didn’t expect demand for lodestones to be that high. I think it needs to be toned down.
Unfortunately, crafting is not fun and it can be quite expensive.
I suggest you find crafting guides that make the best use of your money and can max your profession in under an hour.
It’s not fun, but whatever
I just report them for harrassment/spamming, especially when they intentionally follow me around.
If it remains the way it is, all your doing is keeping all the masses frustrated that cant get a item and sooner or later they will abandon the game, since nobody wants a second job just for a game.
TESO is taking beta sign-ups. They released a pretty cinematic. I think they will take a lot of people away from GW2, meaning that the market will have a huge shake-up when that happens. Be aware of which date it begins, consider what effects it might have (not easy, since both martketeers and adventurers will probably want to check it out. The only demographic that I can imagine will not be affected – with lower populations – would be bots. Thus there will probably be a greater supply on the market at that point and so the stuff for legendaries should go down in price. That’s my logic anyway).
No one buys a game due to a cinematic. Go look at Warhammer Online. Awesome cinematic, terrible game that did’t live up to potential. Gameplay footage was released in November and it didn’t look anything special.
She did not say “legendary weapons.” She said “legendary items.” That could mean anything. Legendary earrings, legendary helmets, legendary runes…
But if she didn’t meant weapons it could only mean armor, because the difference between legendary and exotic is only the appearance, the stats are the same, so legendary rings wouldn’t make sense.
It could be both. She stated that legendaries would be boosted up to ascended status.
I’m curious if anybody has considered it might be in the Temple of Lyssa. I recently completed my personal story quest, and during the quest leg in Temple of Lyssa, Trahearne specifically said the temple was the final resting place of her followers or something like that. I forget the specifics of the dialog beyond that, but “final resting place” is word for word. I perked up as soon as I heard it. Apologies if this doesn’t contribute to the search, but I thought I’d mention it just in case!
All Temples have been completed several times on all servers. It’s highly unlikely to be that.
Its not that we want every lodestone easier to get, just the ones that are in demand so much.
This screenshot says everything.
It’s not Arenanet’s problem that a certain item has higher demand than others.
I only specified this one as it’s probably one of the most frequented chests in the game being a Magnificent Chest in the busiest area
It also makes me wonder; if exotics are possible, maybe precursors are…It’s been stated in the update notes (I forget which one) that precursors were removed from all chests, so now they’re only a ridiculously rare world drop or a forge in the mystic toilet.
I’m guessing plenty of people didn’t know these jumping puzzles could be done multiple times and still be rewarded for it, but for the time it takes to get it done and the usually pitiful end chest rewards, I’m guessing many people wouldn’t think that it’s worth their time compared to say farming. But many people only do the JP’s once to claim the reward for it as part of their character’s achievements and then move on.
That is not true.
Colossus dropped from the north JP in Lion’s Arch a few weeks ago. You can absolutely get precursors from chests. There is no reason why you shouldn’t.
So you want to increase the drop rate of T6 and lodes?
That would only increase the demand for precursors even further, which just makes things worse.
Not only that, but your solution wants to make legendaries easier to acquire. No one wants that, because everyone will start running around in legendaries when it’s only supposed to be for the top % players in the game.
Oh where do these people come from?
50,000 commendations? I sure hope you did not get that from the exotic trinket recipe, which was taken out of the game as exploitable. After all, if you did, all of your commendations, which you probably want to turn into cheap Black Lion Keys, would be gained from an exploit.
And exploitation is grounds for a banning, I think.
Just saying.
Geezus
The exotic trinket was not an exploit. You’re thinking about the snowflakes, which is an entirely different issue.
And the BL keys have been taken out.
“when it’s ready”
define useless. The people who bought for 30copper and sold for 1s50c probably disagree with you.
It’s the select few who will profit off people who falsely speculate. Reminds me of the folks who bought pumpkins.
Always.
Not bothered with monthly tho. F WvW and fractals
If you can’t be bothered doing those two within a month, then..
