You can get them from upgrading pebbles in the Mystic Toilet. But the prices of said pebbles went up because of the recipe. It gives you a chance to get an upgrade or the same mat level. You are just hoping that the genie is mean and gives you this by mistake. I also thought they were in bag of Trinkets as well as a random bag drop.

Well there are four doubloons, and silver is the 2nd tier, so I assume 21-40

There is no way to unsoulbound it and have it retain it’s precursor status. You cannot sell it.

1.) Ori is not 10s. It’s around 3s.

2.) Ori nodes vary by server, so you’ll have to keep moving on each server.

3.) Ori nodes aren’t the best way to get gold per hour

Sure, take this huge world and shoehorn people into a very few zones and fractals. I really don’t get Anet. 80 zones should be the same. Southsun should be just as good as Orr. 80 end of Frostgorge should be as well. Options.

I too think they need to make the whole world an option to farm, but as it stands cursed shore is the place to be until they fix it.

/shrug. I’m one of the perma-unluckies. I won’t see 4g/hour anywhere, and it has become too frustrating to try.

Roll a guardian with staff/GS, get in a competent party and learn the waves, and you’ll get a ton of loot.

Many people don’t now the most efficient way of farming it.

The best way is to keep the system as it is right now, but allow tokens that are rewarded through the forge that will give you a precursor after x amount

You need 750 piles of crystalline dust to make the triforge pendant. Which is currently the only way anyone is going to get an ascended amulet (for another week or two anyway).

The Triforge has been upgraded to Ascended?

No but you can upgrade it for under 1g with a quick mystic forge recipe

T6 prices are going to drop very soon. It takes bots a few weeks to get back going, and they’ll be around until the next bot ban wave (2 months).

So if you do plan on investing in T6, do it when they are bottoming out.

Supply available on the outpost does not equal supply of dust.

Question to all the precursor complainer: Would you be satisfied if they made the precursor obtainable by completing a Jumping Puzzle twice as hard or even harder than the halloween JP?

And if you awnser yes to that, because you probably think you are able to do it, imagine the outcry on the forums. People don’t want a real skill challenge because at least 95% would then not be able to do it. At the curren drop rate someone will eventually get it even if it takes a year or two.

Just think about it: Someone can’t get a legendary simply because they are not the top 5%. The problem is then that they’ll never get it! That’s even more depressing for the majority…

A lot of people use the ‘skill’ phrase but they never provide specifics. Not only that, but Arenanet has to design something that is exploit proof and difficult enough that only a few people can do – think about Arah P4, but much harder.

And if they designed it with a JP, you’d have a huge outcry from people who hate JP. I remember all the complaints from the halloween JP, which wasn’t even all that hard!

On principle I agree but I highly doubt the difference in stats is going to be a game-changer. Heck, you can do a ton more damage just based on gear/trait differences. Some signets even give 10% more damage.

The reason for low drop rate is the increased mob rate. I’m sure you all seen the amount of mobs that spawns during an event. IF 50% of them were to drop the dust, the market will be flooded the way Bones were. Now that the risens drop more variety of T5/6 mats, the price of bones went up to match. Also, farm the Heavy moldy bags. The drop rate on these are insane, you can get a full stack of them in a few hours. Get your t5/t6 mats and dust from them.

I dont see the problem that market would be flooded by crystalline dust. Look at armored scale market is flooded with them and yet it sels for 9.5s
The problem is this
When I need crystalline dust for crafting some consumables I have to buy it from TP because the drop chance while farming will get me insane (DR kicks in ?)
So I have no other option then to buy it
So the game itself forces the idea of market manipulation with the ultra low drop rates and of course the abnormal stupid idea of diminishing returns on loot and the most important thing is that crystallyne dust is not exclusive (rare,exotic) item but there is scarcity of it. WHY ? So the low amount on TP are easily bought by investors and resold for higher prices

You think people are manipulating T6 mats? Not only is that difficult but insanely expensive to maintain.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the drop rates of dust at the moment. They are in higher demand now thanks to the Triforge.

You need a new goal. Why not legendaries? That will keep you occupied for a long time.

Or how about learn all classes and get them to 80? Contribute in WvW (get in your server’s mumble and coordinate, it’s a totally different experience)

I’ve tried all my transmutes on white items and it’s been fine.

example : one Crystal Lodestone + Mystic Binding Agent + ??? = one Charged Lodestone.

Interesting, that could very well crash the market for some lodestones while bumping the price of others.

They only drop from Orr mobs, so if we do see some recipes from them, it’ll be Orr-related items.

That was the whole point from the beginning.

However, back in November they did state that the stats will be buffed to ascended status.

The reason why there are a ton of people in Cursed Shore is because it’s the best play to make gold now.

The culling has always been like this. The only reason why it’s worse is because many people farm there now. Don’t expect a fix anytime soon until they get the WvW culling fixed.

If you farm long enough you’ll learn where waves spawn and you can prepare to spam your skills to get your loot. You have a guardian – that’s the best class for farming Orr.

You get the most levels from 350-400, so no they did not nerf it.

Precursors are not a problem at all. If someone is willing to pay X gold then that’s fair.

I sure as hell would want to buy a Dusk at 10S. But if someone is willing to pay 600g then I guess…too bad for me.

Yesterday I’ve been farming orr maps for about two hours killing hundreds of mobs and I got one crystalline dust as a direct drop from mob. Then I got around 20 heavy moldy bags and after opening all I got one crystalline dust.
So the drop rate is like 1 crystalline dust for one hour of intensive farming mobs ?
THIS is the reason of this crystalline dust nonsense which is currently happening

I can go farm mobs to iron marches and easily get 100 luminous dust’s in one hour (direct drop from mobs)
Now the thing is that luminous dust is two tiers lower but the same rarity (fine) as crystalline dust. So the logic tells me if I go farm highest lvl creatures I should be able to farm crystalline dust effectively but I cant.
It seem to me that crystalline dust is not actually rarity wise fine but RARE

Incadescent is the common dust drop for that lvl range. If you were to farm a theoretical +lvl 85 risen mob then you would get crystalline at a common rate.

The mobs you farmed for the luminous dust have a rare drop rate for incadescent.

To me it is, because it was a symbol of my hard work.

To someone who bought it using gem/gold and a credit card, it may not be.

I also don’t really care what other people think about me with my legendary. If you think I earned it, thanks. If you think I bought it, I don’t really care.

Now you’re just complicating things and making a mess.

Gold rate is slow up until maybe lvl 76.

Once you can get to Cursed Shore, the money comes in.

I think it’s fair to judge inflation on the items that are worth to think about in end game. Maybe the precursor example is a bit limiting, but it’s the best example for what i meant to say

That’s demand for a specific item, which in this game, is going to go up over time.

It’s like trying to buy Singing Bird Pistols, which are extremely rare. As the years go buy, the demand for that may grow as well as the asking price. It’s ridiculous to look at that item and judge economy inflation on it. You’ll come up with something like 20% inflation.

I don’t think it’s inflation. John Smith may know more about inflation, but if I recall, inflation is calculated with the Consumer Price Index in mind – it considers hundreds of items. I don’t think it’s fair to judge inflation on a single item, let alone one that is not a commodity.

I make a lot of money and it’s my end game goal – to be the richest person on my server. Once you have a ton of gold to invest, it’s easier to grow that money.

What am I going to spend it on? More legendaries, t3 cultural sets for all characters, investing to make even more money.

Right now I’m more wealthy than rich, and I doubt seeing myself ever reach 20K in gold in my lifetime in this game. But it’s what keeps me going here – any additions to the game by Arenanet is just icing.

I think some people here can’t tell the difference between market manipulators and speculators.

Market manipulators buy up all the supply so that they can force a higher price. I.e. precursors

Market speculators buy up supply because they think it’ll go up. i.e. globs & t6

Why do you think the price of piles of putrid essence went over 1s before the update? People were speculating, with the new changes in Orr, that there would be a new use for it.

But by all means, keep blaming market speculators and manipulators for any or all problems you have with the economy. Apparently that’s an easy thing to do because it’s the easy way out.

I hope you didn’t buy those rares. You save so much money crafting them yourself…

You can sell most of the existing precursors to buy another one instead.

Only underwater and minstrel aren’t really worth it yet.

I meant you bought one of the precursors for 145g (one that is now over 480g). And you had money for it at the time (karka event which we won’t be getting anymore) because TP or because you didn’t start with getting the gifts (like some of us did thinking they will do something about precursor when they said it was getting too high the 1st time). The reason why you had the money doesn’t matter anyway (since 140g was obtainable even without playing TP), it matters even if we do have that kind of money we were promised we won’t get any more occasions like that one for 150-200g precursors free of risk of loosing everything for nothing (see 750g in rares, or 250g in exotics with unknown % and the increase that I still think only worked for 4 weapon type MF recipes).

Judging from your general attitude towards Orr farming I’m going to also guess you had a over 1,5M karma from before nerf and I wonder how many alts you have (2?).

Skill is out of the question for legendaries atm so since it’s a dedication thing how come ppl with 1000h have 2 and 3/4 legendaries from TP/fractal grind and ppl with 1500h and 8 alts and dungeons and dragons and 100% world on 5 of those 8 alts have 10x less stuff. I don’t even want Godskull ppl to get their stuff rolledback (not even the guys with 5000g from getting 10 Dusk), I want to have a way to work for 2-4 weeks doing dungeons and events and know I will 100% afford or get a precursor and I would love to not wait until May to finish the working part.

Oh yea, I’d like to get the legendary I want not the one I can afford in the currently kittened market. So that “getting Flameseeker prophecies” doesn’t apply to everyone. (After Dusk it’s on to Frostfang and Bifrost and Sunrise and maybe then FS.P. for me).

“The player is the most important thing in the game.” Unless god forbid he wants shiny items for doing the activities he likes in the game instead of meta-trading-economics or 1 in 10000 luck, otherwise everything is ok because a few are willing to do that.

I had about 400k karma, not including the boosts before the patch. I used it all and bought Obsidian shards. Karma is not all that hard to come by when all you do is farm shelt/pen. That’s where I get my money.

I disagree, I find lots of stuff to do in the game. Well over 1200 hours now.

-Grinding, if you wish
-Fractals, and other dungeons
-WvW, which is a huge dynamic beast in itself
-Jumping puzzles
-Meta events
-leveling alts
-exploring (different from map completion)
-Dressing up all characters
-Playing the TP
-sPvP
-Achievement hunting

No changes to my Bifrost or Sunrise.

Some people commented that my Bifrost aura is bigger but I just don’t see it.

I definitely do not recommend you gamble, especially since you’re casual. It’ll be tough to get that gold back since you play so infrequently.

Since you don’t play all that often, I suggest you take a look at investing, which is different than power trading. You could grow your money that way (or lose some of it). But you need to be smart about it.

Yes cuz after grinding and flipping my fingers off instead of playing the game for over 700g for the 3 gifts I need to patiently wait 6+ more months since the day the announced they know it’s a problem.

Don’t know if I was ever clear about this. I know they are fixing it, and assuming they don’t screw it up completely by making the SH take months and/or be based on more RNG and/or make it completable faster than X amount of time no matter how many 10h/day sessions you want to put in (by requiring daily quest or something of the sort) it’s going to be great. My problem has always been the lack of ANY temporary action (except the failed karka thing and promise we will not be seeing anything of the sorts for a long time while they work out the issues).

Besides there will always be people like Vol who will buy it at the price (even if until now he did no such thing for his legendary, at least one, probably both). And there will also always be TP barons and investors who enjoy that kind of thing (which is fine) that just don’t care and will also buy it any any price to skip the SH and save 1-3weeks.

I definitely won’t pay more than 600g on a Dusk. I’d rather craft Flameseeker (which I’m close to getting) and wait patiently for the Scavenger hunt to come. I’m in no rush.

I’m sure there are other people out there who have their limits.

BTW, I didn’t buy my legendary. If anything I bought the mats, like everyone else out there.

If someone is willing to pay 900g for a Dusk, then Dusk has been underpriced the whole time. The price of an item is what the seller and buying are willing to sell/buy it for.

This isn’t a buy order, it’s a sale listing. the highest buy order was 550g at the time of my post.

What I mean is, doesn’t matter if someone lists it at 900g. They can still put a buy order well low of that and still get someone to sell it. The richest buyer may never want to buy Dusk for anymore than 600g.

The buyer/seller meet at an equilibrium point.

The chests really make things worse, I’m confused why they added it.

Everyone still loots all bodies and it only contributes to more culling.

well, I’m pretty sure I’m not crazy….. I’ve seen the chests (that are for me, that I can loot, since I know you can see other people’s chests), and when I loot them I dont get uncommon and above, I’ve gotten common and below.

for instance, I’ve gotten a common hood from the chest and a white pistol, and I was really confused. I even confirmed it with a guildie/friend who said he has gotten common and below from the chest.

I agree, it’s bugged. I still get yellows from corpses, and I still get junk in chests.
