It’s because of the superior sigil of fire that’s on it.
well kitten I feel dumb now
It’s because you guys are switching to the other two servers to farm the other dragons.
That’s 9 dragons within a 3 hour period.
No one is forcing you to complete the daily.
You’re not being forced to do anything.
I’m curious as to why this particular item is so expensive – perhaps there is some bugged recipe like the Godskulls awhile back..
It’s a lvl 76 exotic speargun, the most expensive in it’s class at 5.15g. The next closest lvl 76 weapon is only at 3.3g.
The cheapest is 1.33g
Something fishy is going on.
Can you explain on how, when you buy gems, and it is converted to gold in game, where does the gold come from? Is this from the 15% that is taken with sales on the TP/tax?
It’s from the people who convert gold to gems
i love this game the only thing i see needs fixing is profession roles like when we all zerg a champ no one knows who is doing what just one big mass attcking the champ i think it was a mistake not to have a healing profession and so o what do you all thinkgood are mean reply is fine
Go try zerging Grenth then!
Legendary weapons are promised to ‘evolve’ with the game so if you do all that work, it’s not wasted. THAT should be the main reason for wanting a Legendary, although the bling factor is just as important to me. Prestige is really just a nice to have. That being said I want to work for it to feel better about that prestige. I will value it more if it was hard to acquire.
I DO NOT however want to grind mindlessly for years to get one. That is bull kitten.
Clovers are account bound, why not make precursor as well (IF THERE IS A REASONABLE WAY TO GET ONE). You should not be able to just buy a Legendary.
You have to earn many of the gifts, why can’t we earn a precursor? You can earn one. You buy one.
Buying is not earning. I do not think the market players and manipulators should control who get’s a Legendary.
Buying is not earning? Only if you bought your gold with your mom’s credit card. Look, right now there is really no skill involved in getting a legendary (and please, beating a 5-man easy-peasy dungeon is not skill). In fact, I’d say there’s more skill and thinking involved in TP flipping than in PvE grinding. Grinding, now that is something any monkey can do. Hey, bots can, see?
Gold is so easy to come by in this game, it’s not even funny. There are so many things you can do besides just grinding ‘till your fingers bleed to get gold. Just accept that it will take you several months of smart playing to get enough resources to get a legendary, and if that doesn’t suit you, wait until ANet rolls out that scavenger hunt (though I wouldn’t bet on the system being that much different from the current one).
Five hundred gold for a precursor is ridiculous. I buy and sell all the time when the prices are reasonable. This is NOT the case for Precursors and Lodestones. If something is not done then these prices will continue to rise and saving will be pointless.
The most any of my characters has had is like 10 gold as getting all the gear up to exotic is quite expensive. Crafting 12 Mystic Clovers chewed up my main characters funds just recently.
It may be ridiculous to you, but there are people out there willing to pay more than you. There is no reason why a seller should sell to you when someone is paying 200g more.

and ^ attitude and thought process is one of the biggest problems with the game right now.
What’s wrong with earning the gold to buy something? Is there something inherently evil about that which makes me a sick person?
In the real world, I guess if I were a farmer and milked my own cows for milk, I’m a good person.
But if I’m an office drone and I spent my hard earned money on buying milk from the grocery store… kitten I’m literally the devil!
Your system is too complicated and unrewarding.
The current gold system is fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having currencies.
How is it any more complicated? If anything, the lack of a need to compare everything to some standard currency is less complicated. What’s so rewarding about the current system? I see plenty of people complaining in this forum that suggests they don’t see it quite so rewarding.
The same reason why we don’t have a barter system in the real world right now. It’s hard to find people with matching needs. And it’s even harder to trade smaller value items for a very valuable item.
In the real world, what exactly would you trade me for my yacht? 5000 cows? 15 cars?
In this game, what exactly would you trade me for my Sunrise? 5000 ruby orbs? Why would I want it to do that for a measley achievement?
And I won’t comment about the people complaining here, I’ll just get infracted and banned again :\
People who seemingly only farm specific mobs for lodestones are the ones who are complaining . I’m not sure if they realize what they are doing is inefficient or not.
Well by all means, please enlighten them. Or are you just blowing smoke too?
he means if you spend your time farming sparks for your lodestones, you’ll not be as efficient as say…someone who farms t6 mats that drop more frequently and sell them to buy your lodestones
that is all. no need to get hostile =]
^
this
You are trying to farm mobs that are widely spaced.
Compare that to dynamic events that spawn a dozen of mobs at a time in high frequency.
Your kill rate and loot rate per hour is huge and you actually make a lot of money.
1 hour at shelt pen can net you enough to buy 1 and a half charged lodestones. Farming sparks can net you anywhere from 0-2
but i hate dungeons… cause im running them to get gear and with no gear i basically die very fast.. and than i don’t get to kill stuff to get any loot and when a few wipes happen my team quits.. whats worse is that theres no fix loot, like i ran a fotm today and got only a lousy 10s profit.. sigh.. and ive tried a little bit of grinding but was too tough and boring.. i like exploring though but sadly it gives little reward.. or if anyone can tell me a good solo grinding spot ill be grateful:D
MMO’s may not be your type of game then. You need to work for your items.
And as much as people like to complain about having to grind, MMOs and grind go together. It’s like aiming and FPS.
There’s nothing wrong with the drop rate of BL keys. Just be happy that you have a chance to get them through loot/rewards instead of just buying them from the gem store.
Yeah that’s not going to happen. There would probably be thousands of individual slots across all professions if you were to do that.
1.) Deal with it, it’s been happening with November and other people are finding other ways to make money.
2.) You don’t make most of your money off rares. You get a lot from moldy bags.
Not even close: 9 and 11
well I guess all those threads complaining about how dawn and dusk are too expensive to afford are a load of crap… Clearly plenty of people CAN afford them.
Exactly. The fact that there were that many people willing to pay that price shows that it’s getting around/at equilibrium. Sure, you may be willing to pay 400g for dusk but there are more people willing to pay A LOT more than you.
Your system is too complicated and unrewarding.

q.q represents tears, or “keep crying”
tldr means too long, didn’t read. It’s meant to act as a summary, or to tell the original poster that he kept rambling on and on and should just conclude thoughts
shelt/pen farming
With a full party, especially with good tagging can net you 4g an hour.
You can get more if you guest inbetween other servers during downtime.

From what I have read, wine will upconvert anything, but the cost is not worth it. Charged lodestones remain out of reach for the casual player.
well anything that uses many charged lodestones shouldn’t be in reach of the casual player.
I’d prefer a way to level alts faster.. I mean its nice with the first two or three chars, but then it gets really old.. I’m trying to get my fifth to 80 and it’s such a chore, I can’t take it for more than an hour a day anymore..
No. Too difficult to code and quite unfair.
so you’re a programmer? being one myself I would’ve assumed that would be quite an easy feature to implement.. it’s nothing more than changing one variable, resetting skills (weapon and normal) and traits as well as unequipping all gear in case the new class uses a different armor set.
I’m not a programmer but I briefly dabbled in it in university. And an MMO is much more complicated than what they teach.
Let’s see some of the problems that arise:
-what happens to class specific weapons/armor? Yes you say to unequip – but what happens if the character’s bag slots are full?
-what happens to skill learning progress? Where is that information stored?
-what happens to your skill points that you invested in skills and utilities? And if they are refunded, what happens to those skill points if you spend them on items in game (i.e. forge). Do you get refunded those skill points back when you switch to your original class, thus becoming an exploit?
whenever you see a player at a node and you’re not sure he walked there, select and click report. if the player walks away, cancel, otherwise (he disappears completely – and your selection disappears as well, if its just a shadowstepping thief or lightning flashing ele you’ll still have him selected) report him for botting. especially for the normal nodes. a normal player might relog with alts for a rich ori like it was in southsun cove (did it myself a few times), but not for an iron ore somewhere.
if you happen to accidentally report someone who was just logging out, don’t worry too much. they most probably won’t ban someone for 1-2 reports on them (they even said it needed more reports and even then they’ll check themselves) and they won’t ban you for mis-reporting once if all your other reports were fine. some of my reports have been questionable (wasn’t 100% sure someone was cheating, could’ve just been a bug) and I’m still around.@Vol: do you really park alts at nodes, login, gather, logout instantly afterwards? seems incredibly naive doing that knowing exactly how it will look. just walking a few steps around would make you clearly distinguishable from botters.
Or am I incredibly naive thinking Arenanet will ban me for numerous unsubstantiated bot reports? No. I don’t care if people report me because I have nothing to hide
People who seemingly only farm specific mobs for lodestones are the ones who are complaining . I’m not sure if they realize what they are doing is inefficient or not.
Shame on me for having alts parked at nodes I suppose
Do you know how often this triggers? No? Then why are you trying to just quantify this as a cooldown on selling and not taking into account:
1) When it’s triggered, how many sells within how many seconds?
2) Is this really an acceptable form of bot control? This seems incredibly lazy to me
3) Going back to #1, waiting 10 seconds is fine, but how long until I’m trapped in the zone again of selling too much? The fact that we don’t know the answers to these questions is pretty absurd, nevermind the laziness of the implementation.
Really didn’t believe people when they said ANet had incredibly defensive fanboys even worse than Blizzard’s but now I believe it. The worst part is all of you seem smart and capable of understanding what I’m saying, you’re just ignoring it.
You are really spending too much time on this issue when you shouldn’t be.
1.) I don’t count how many times it triggers, but it’s roughly in the area of 7-10 consecutive listings
2.) I don’t think it’s bot control, it’s to prevent massive spamming on the outpost. Without this feature, you could clog up the outpost and make it even slower for everyone
3.) Same, around 7-10.
You spam 7-10 items, then you get a 10 second cooldown. Repeat
No. Too difficult to code and quite unfair.
Before anybody gets mad because of me making my second legendary:
I finished Twilight 02.November and am now missing Zap, 50% T6 mats, 60 Lodestones, all the Runestones and 30% of the karma for Bolt, having only 500g to my name. Going to be another month or two :-).
I get accused of being a gold buyer since I have two.
I’m going to get my 3rd this week – not sure what is going to happen next ;D
You’re getting mad over 10 seconds. You get an error if you spam sell too many items.
If you wait 10 seconds, you can start selling again.
You’re really getting mad over something so trivial.
I wasted my 10 laurels for this recipe because I could afford the loss. The only thing that I care for in regards to laurels is the amulet, but I think I’ll be able to get the triforge before I’ll be able to afford the laurel one.
Oh well, for science.
Colin already stated in another thread that precursors would not be available through laurels as far as I can recall.
And even if they were, they’d take a ridiculous number of laurels which are a fixed quantity.
If a cat costs you 100, then how much is an exotic precursor? 1000?
Don’t expect it to be built without the design being complete.
The use of the word “would” suggests that it’s still a looong way away, if ever.
Exactly – they didn’t ABANDON it. It’s just going to take time to plan out the whole system
Now that the Scavenger Hunt idea has been abandoned, I’m sure a lot of people will be praying that the new way of obtaining precursors does NOT involve Laurels.

don’t spread false information – it’s not being abandoned. It’s a work in progress but it takes time to design such a system.
Please read the linked text
We’re not currently actively working on building any sort of legendary precursor scavenger hunt
There is a difference between building and designing. Next time dont’ nit pick statements to suit your viewpoint.
“We’re not currently actively working on building any sort of legendary precursor scavenger hunt, this is something we want to do in the future and we’re in the midst of designing how this would function, but no one is actively building this feature and you should not expect in the Jan/Feb/March releases at this point.”
Building = coding
Designing = planning it out
It would be really nice if they had a trial system like Warhammer did where you can experience the first 10 levels or the intro maps. That at least would populate the lower levels.
But then again if Arenanet implemented such a thing, people here would go all nuts and point to it as proof that the game is failing, which it surely is not.
I believe Arenanet said that they planned on making legendaries account bound? So don’t go nuts and delete you account or right-click destroy. You may very well be able to equip it sometime in the future.
That being said, you really should have tested with other weapons.
Why should this game be designed like other games?
We don’t have potions in this game – we have foods. So cooking = alchemy.

Halla’s mobs do drop loot but at a lower, lower scale than regular mobs.
Also, the event is working as intended and is the BEST event in the world to farm exp or skill points.
With killstreak and exp booster you get +800 exp per mob.
Did you try it with a Lodestone?
lode’s don’t work. The recipe is just another way to upconvert without using 25s for the wine.
NOT worth the laurels.
FINAL RECIPE:
2 cores + 1 crystal + 1 crystalline dust + 1 agent = 1 lodestone
compared to the other forge recipe of
2 cores + 1 wine + 1 dust +1 crystal
TLDR: Just another way to get lodestone without spending 25s
OK STOP.
WASTE OF MONEY
It only gave me 1 lodestone…
OK guys,
here’s 3/4 recipe
agent + crystalline dust + cores and 5 crystals
BUY CORES BUY ALL LODESTONES BUY BUY BUY
kidding
I’m gonna found out shortly, experimenting combos
EDIT:
FINAL RECIPE BELOW
(edited by Vol.5241)
. A precursor should be guaranteed if you worked for it.
That is why there is an option to buy it on the outpost.
If you hardcore grind for a day, you make 50g. That’s about two weeks worth of hardcore farming, and maybe a month and a half of regular play.
Or if you’re feeling lucky, go gamble.
Except my original argument is that the market is dry. There are no more to buy. That is not a guarantee.
Put a buy order higher than the next one and you’ll find a seller

I agree, it seems an odd thing to pair.
But thank goodness it’s ‘relatively cheap’ to max these. If you are going through with this, do it on an alt so you get 20 free levels.
Farming agent of entropy is not easy. It’s very expensive if you do the math.
That being said, achievement points is the best way to gauge the experience of the player.
If I see someone with 800 points, I figure the player is new. If you have 2000, you’re solid. If you have +3k, well you’re pretty well rounded.
Save them. They could introduce more items to the vendor.
But as stated above, you could use them on bank slots for your alts.
My guess is that, for example, Mystic Binding Agent + x amount of cores = x amount of lodes, or MBA + x amount of fragments =x amount of cores, or something like that.
It could be, but they already have a similar promotion system in game. And it would be foolish to spend laurels when you only get a fixed amount compared to skill points.
There was no fix and there is no need for one.
1.) Flameseeker
2.) I haven’t made the gifts yet, just incase I change my mind
3.) I just need 100 runestones and about 60 skillpoints to convert my cores to lodestones. Also need 60 dungeon tokens. It’ll take me about a week.
4.) It’ll be my 3rd legendary. After I’m finished this, I’m thinking of saving and investing. But Meterologicus could be next.
