You have only 2 hours each day soo..
-If you have alts and lots of karma, buy a karma orichalchum axe (lvl 1, appx 600 karma for 25 pieces) and park your alts at the ori rich node in Southsun Cove.
-since it’s unlikely you’ll have DR, I suggest shelt/pen farming until you notice you hit DR
-at that point, run speed run dungeons like AC.
WP costs are fine. You need gold sinks in the game.
The range of a WP cost is 1s to 4S. Most likely you’re talking inbetween.
That’s something like 4 blues or 1 green drop.
If you are there for the event from start to finish, you will get more than enough to profit off the event.
If you get there seconds before it ends, obviously you lose.
I don’t know why people here think they know more about the economy than an economist.
I’ve been lucky to get mystic forge stones for my daily rewards, I still have 140 uses left on my kit and have enough stones to make another.
I ALWAYS use karma to buy crude salvage kit, from my experience it does perfectly fine for white/blue items.
I do notice that Master/Mystic salvage kit have a lower return on ectos compared to BL Kits.
Why not just buy the crude salvage kits that are so cheap at merchants? The WP cost to get to the karma vendor is expensive enough.
Not sure why to some people it’s always about the reward, why can’t you just have fun? Who ruined your childhood so bad that you can’t play for entartainment anymore?
Not only that, but people here keep whining about getting bad loot when you’re no better off with everyone getting a rare.
I found a jump puzzle in Ashford, an area for 1-15 levels. It was fun at first then all of a sudden I was instantly killed. I tried again and instantly killed at another location. Then I did some research about this jump puzzle and found out it is listed as HARD.
I am thinking at first WOW!!! what a great idea, then it dawns on me that no one really gives a SH** about the puzzle at this level because it is all about end game. I haven’t seen one person even come near it in 3 hours.
Why would you make something like this? I mean the risk (time) vs reward is not worth it, so in other words…you developers wasted “X” amount of time programming. I bet out of 100 players only 10 have completed in the last month if that. I had enough of this silliness…guess I will do what everyone else does just lv to 80 and forget about all the silly stuff in the lower levels that mean absolutly nothing in terms of the game besides a title.
If you’re going to be angry over something as simple as a low level jumping puzzle, then you’re going to have a very, very bad time.
Chance at precursor.
I suspect the precursor drop chance is higher from chests (but of course, not high enough to be noticeable) than it is from world mobs and it’s this gamble that people are enticed at.
That being said, I do not do Claw of Jormag because the event is way too long. I have no problem doing Teq or kittensince those fights usually last under 5 minutes.
I don’t mean that the wealth of the country grows. I mean that individuals with wealth will create more wealth an a significantly higher rate than those without wealth. It takes money to make money essentially.
You know, this is exactly why I don’t understand why people are surprised that the income gap grows.
When you have a guy making minimum wage, there is very little he can do to make his wealth grow.
When you have a guy with millions to spend, the minimum he can do is invest a ton of savings accounts and make more off interest than the minimum wage guy can get in a year.
Of course it’s going to expand! The more money you have in your pocket to spend, the more money you can earn if you choose to invest it.
1.) Wait for scavenger hunt if you’re not desperate
2.) No, do not sell it. While a ton of gold looks nice, you need to keep an eye on the posting fee. And if someone undercuts you, you’ll have a tough time selling it.
There will be other people thinking just like you and will be posting and undercutting their legendary on the outpost.
And even though there is a good supply of legendaries on the market, there is even fewer buyers.
Unless you plan to massively underprice your legendary, you will have a hard time selling unless you’re lucky.
“but i am kinda suspicious that they might be auto-generated by the system, and not player made?”
Really? What else are you going to come up with? That Arenanet is artificially creating supply for some reason? That’s ridiculous.
There are smart and dumb traders. Dumb traders often do things that make them lose money, like selling items on the post that would net a profit below vendor price.
Sorry to the OP but most of the stuff (aside from poopie loot) is not Anets fault. This is an MMO, Orr is not meant to solo ever. It stinks but it’s fact. I understand where you’re coming from I have had similar experiences but they were mainly my fault thanks to rushing.
There is a solution for everything you listed. Patience, practice, and Google/Wiki. I hope tonight is better for you!
I agree, he’s just blaming Arenanet for his own shortcomings. That’s just childish. Take responsibility for once.

I use sceptre/shield for my guardian in WvW and some fractals. The root then aoe skill is timeless in WvW.
So for a level 80 i’d be looking at around 160G?
Honestly, if you wanted to have the cheapest way to get to 80:
Level 1-10 through normal means
Level 11-70 through crafting
Level 71-80 through shelt/pen farming (can be done in probably 6 hours)
Another thing to help (one time) is to make mystic weapons. If you have 50 skill points that you don’t plan on using. Do a little research on what mystic weapons are going for and compare the prices to the components (mystic coins will be the biggest expensive).
50 skill points is a lot to waste on one weapon
If we’re going to sell skill points, I think we should at least look at upgrading components in the forge, including t6 mats and lodestones. At least those have less of an investment and more demand.
Just monster kills.
Doesn’t affect chests.
If you are a weaponsmith, buy mithril, large bones and elder logs.
Craft them up so you can make the level 80 rare items. I think the one that uses large bones has “Krait” in them.
Only craft greatswords/daggers. They can net you 35s each but profit varies from 5s to 10s.
Well, not really much to say, why I have to pay for selling my stuff? I read somewhere that the selling fee and listing fee are meant in wich sellers wont keep lowering the prices of an item because they have to pay for each listing. If those are the reasons why dont you fees on removing transictions, instead of placing them? so if you sell an item its all your gain, if you wanna sell it before someone who listed it at low price than your you pay for removing and listing it again. that will be waaaay better than the actual, nonsense, method imo.
The Black Lion Trading company is a company. Your use of the outpost is a use of their service. That’s why you are charged.
It’s no different in the real world using 3rd party sites like amazon or a consignment store.
It’s a gold sink.
Also, there is a listing fee so that it prevents every player from listing every single item just for luls.
The only other gold sinks in the game are repair, waypoint and mystic forge gambling costs.
I don’t understand why Anet didn’t make it like they did with armours in GW1. There were the expensive but affordable feel-good 15k sets, and there was the impossible-to-get FoW set. In GW2 only legendary weapons provide the cool cosmetic effects that other weapons don’t have. They could make a set of weapons with less special effects but still stand out from the other normal weapons, right?
That’s why we have greatswords like Volcanus, Vision of the Mists, Foefire..
Yes, there was a screenshot that showed someone get a precursor a few months ago from EB puzzle.
Tough luck kid, I spent 300g and got nothing.
Hullo,
I had heard that ectoplasm was a good way to get money, and so by farming fractals I got a few l80 rares. I used my old BL kits to deconstruct them, however all I got would be 1 mithril ore or 2 leather straps, 0 ectoplasm on 4 rares.
I’m getting a bit annoyed as each rare could have been sold around 20s minimum, that’s almost a gold coin wasted. I wouldn’t want to continue on that – has the ectoplasm drop rates changed ? Are they acquired differently now ?
you gambled and lost, just move on.
If I had enough money to buy both Sunrise and Twilight, I wouldn’t even bother buying Eternity because it’s going to be overpriced.
It costs a whopping 29s to combine both greatswords, so no one is going to pay a premium.
Probability takes math, cold unfeeling calculations. Luck makes you feel special, or cursed. They have absolutely nothing in common.
You win $50 million in the lottery, and you’ll feel pretty lucky right?
The odds are 1 in x number of people who bought the ticket.
The probability is 1/x
That’s what they have in common.
Great job? LOL ok. They haven’t even scratched the surface of botting.
Someone is obviously new to the game.
They destroyed bots to the point that some T6 mats increased from 30 copper to 28s.
Far from new. Don’t try to make yourself look informed. The amount of Bots still in the game is staggering. Go underwater. Bot haven. Oh, how about the teleporting under the world harvest bots that I can sit in Malchor’s leap and watch no less than 50 of them pop up at a single tree within a 15 minute window.
Keep the blinders on bro. They work well for you. Botting is a neverending problem but you keep believing that they have even scratched the surface of the issue.
Go and find me an MMO that has no botters or gold sellers.
Yeah you won’t find any.
They HAVE done a great job. You are probably new because you didn’t see how serious botting was before November. Bots in all the obvious and not so obvious places. Bot trains.
Yes, they still exist, they always will. Yes, I know where they are. Why do you think I’m hoarding all the Armored Scales? When the underwater bots get banned, price will shoot up.
Ectoplasm price fluctures a bit because it’s a highly traded commodity.
It is very hard to predict where the price will go.
My gut is that it will go higher since it will have a high demand when the scavenger patch is released.
We just don’t know when it will be. Next month? Six months?
Sometimes it takes a few hours or even a day to pick up the items.
Are you sure you bought it? Check the items bought history tab.
Great job? LOL ok. They haven’t even scratched the surface of botting.

Vol i don’t know what server you’re in dude but i’m a WvW player mostly and i’m surrounded by players who have Legendary Weapons at my server (a tier1 server)
Which makes my desire even bigger rather than as you said smaller.
There are many Legendaries already after the lost shores and seeing them make me want 1 myself even more.
You’re wrong at all points related to this topic.
Yeah, you want one because it makes you look cool and those who have it are ‘revered’.
I guess that novelty would hold when everyone is running around with it, huh?
There is probability. Almost everything in universe is based on probability if you consider quantum physics.
I’m not sure how that guy could not understand the relationship between luck and probability
The people saying be “patient” should be moderated. If you are happy to continue to be “patient” then feel free to do so but you don’t have the right to troll threads on the subject and that is what it is. No way do any of you have everything ready but the precursor and not care when you finish the weapon.
The posts that are appearing daily are here because people have lost patience with the method for obtaining the precursor. It has been more than 2 months and for many it is game breaking. Get your dream car and all you are missing is one tire … how long will you wait to get to drive it.
Speaking as one player that has had Gift of Twilight, Gift of Mastery, and Gift of Fortune sitting in his bank for more than a month … my patience ran thin a long time ago. Scavenger hunt? Sounds great. Should we have to wait months for it? Uh … no.
Add a tab to the Mystic Forge person with 1 handed precursors at 100 gold and 2 handed for 200 gold. Leave drop and forge chances the same. Would take all of an afternoon to do this. This method also REMOVES gold from the economy that is being flooded in by gold sales … GEM conversion and illegal sales. Removes 100% instead of 15% leaving 85% in economy courtesy of TP.
Terrible idea. Precursor is one of the biggest hurdles for a legendary, with lodestones after. What’s so great about a legendary when everyone has it?
WHY DO YOU WANT A LEGENDARY IN THE FIRST PLACE?
-It’s rare
-It looks nice
When you have a bunch of people frolicking in twilights and sunrises, nobody will want it. Some things in this game are meant to be rare. Many people on this forum just want things easy, simple and handed to them. And then they whine that they don’t have anything to do? Please.
Arenanet would have to quickly come up with a higher tier of weapons. And if we look at what the reaction was with something as innocent as Ascended gear? That would be a firestorm of whine.
You’re playing the wrong genre if you don’t like ‘grind’. You want a game that needs ‘skill’, go play FPS game. Or RTS. Not an MMO.
There is ‘grind’ in every MMO. Not sure how you are only finding this out now.
What do you suggest, anyways? Let’s make it very easy to get legendary weapons, so that everyone is running around with them? At that point you wouldn’t want it, right?
I assume you wanted a Legendary right now because it’s rare and it looks nice. But if you start handing them out, then the appeal isn’t all that high, is it?
There are other threads to discuss this.
Also, they clearly stated pre-cursors will be acquirable through other means in a patch in the near future.
In The Future i may be playing another MMO mate.
As someone who have 1200h+ in GW2 and 500+ rare bows tosed into the Mystic Forge with NO precursor i want this matter to be focused as well since its the 5th month after the launch and still not solution for this.
They’re going to release it when it’s ready. Imagine the amount of whine on these forums if they released it prematurely and noticed an exploit that could net you several precursors at once?
What do you expect them to do right now? Suddenly increase the precursor rate from a paltry 0.5% to 10%? Crash the market?
Again, you gambled and you lost. Move on. If everyone could get a precursor so easily from the forge, the allure of a legendary would not be as it is right now.
Why the heck do you want to a legendary anyway? Cause it’s so rare? Cause it looks good? Increase the rate, and you increase the number of people who hold the legendary. You suddenly don’t want it anymore.
The rate is fine as it is. Legendary weapons should be rare.
Also, why the heck are you throwing bows in the forge? You are being extremely inefficient.
It’s better to craft greatswords and hope you get Dusk/Dawn which hold the most value.
It’s like one guy saying he wants to get Venom, and throws Tridents in the forge when Venom is only worth 11g. Throw greatswords in the forge, get Dusk, sell for 600g and use the remaining gold to buy Venom, and still have money left over for other things.
@ OP:
They may have done it unintentionally. If the party leader leaves, everyone gets kicked it. The leader probably thought that the party would still remain intact with 4 people.
It’s poor design and I’m not sure if it will be fixed in the patch later this month.
That being said, if you know if they did it intentionally, they can get a temp ban.
the party leader did not leave. They specifically pressed “kick” and had their friend confirm it. I’ve seen “kick this player?” flash up 3 times for only a second or so. I was the last one kicked there.
In that case they can get banned. There is no need for screenshot (you can’t predict it would happen and prepare).
Best things to include in the ticket:
-Names if you remember them
-Date and time
They have logs of everything
My problem with BL kits is how to get rid of the 20 something of them I have, not how to get more. The things just aren’t worth wasting on 90% of items in the game. I only tap into them to pull runes / sigils out of something, and even then only if the rune / sigil is worth the use of the BL kit.
They should add a MF recipe to convert a bunch of BL kits into a 100 use kit or something.
If you got those BL kits for ‘free’, either through daily achievements, quests or from chests that you opened from non-bought keys, you can absolutely make profit.
There are sigils out there that cost a lot and only come from drops. There are some armors out there that sell less than the sigil itself. With a BL kit, you can get back that sigil plus profit from selling that sigil back. And don’t forget about the ectos!.
Keep in mind though the taxes on the trading post.
It’s not going to work. It’s easy to do all those things on your own.
It’s a gamble. What in the world were you expecting?
Those who get it within their first few tries are so happy and they’re lucky
Those who don’t get it whine and complain.
I’ve thrown 300g worth of rares since release in the forge. And I haven’t got any precursors. Yet I don’t whine because I understood the low probability.
There are other threads to discuss this.
Also, they clearly stated pre-cursors will be acquirable through other means in a patch in the near future.
I think once you have the legendary, you only play to show it off in LA.
That’s my opinion, I mean after you have it, what’s left?
I got my Bifrost in mid November and I continue to play. I made 500 G in a week and a half during the Christmas break, and Dusk dropped for me yesterday. Now I can afford Sunrise and will get it within the week.
Getting another legendary was one of my goals and now that I’m going to get it I’ll move on to my next goals – get Flameseeker Prophecies
I agree OP, I’ve been seeing this for a bit.
I’m working on Sunrise at the moment but as soon as I finish it I hope to invest in lodestones and T6 mats. You have to worry about lodestones though – the price right now is ridiculous and it’s obvious that Arenanet will increase supply. But even with an increase of supply, the demand may be so large that the price will STILL increase.
The bigger question though is how ‘easy’ this scavenger hunt is. If it’s something like a 100 quest line, then that’s ‘easy’. The supply will increase suddenly over a few days.
But if it’s still something tough, like getting all badges from all dungeons, plus 500 badges from WvW as well as some mystic forge recipe combining the use of 200 SP, 250 obsidian shards and some other time consuming token, then…that will be very daunting and you won’t see a huge price decrease.
If you have played a lot of MMO games, then surely you know that fansites are ‘safe’
That being said, if you’re so willing to blindly criticize Arenanet in an offending manner then you deserve to be ‘silenced’. Or what I call ‘Shamed’
Keep in mind guys that when you do your calculations of profit using the BL kits not to forget the gold you lose if you had converted those gems to gold instead.
But if you got them for ‘free’ from opening chests or completing dailies, then ignore it. It’s a sunk cost anyway.
Minigames are probably at the bottom of Anet’s priority list of things to do.
If you’re going to compare WoW to GW2 then this will get interesting. At least compare similar games.
Just another reason not to run them imo. It’s not your fault OP it’s the game design, it’s a system that should not be part of the monthly and should not be forced on the players who bought this title because we were interested in metas in the open world only. I didn’t want to do any of the dungeons in the game because I read prelaunch they would be focusing on meta events and adding those to the game would go faster and be better then any dungeon content they could come out with. Then 3 months later bam fractals and no only was it a 180 they made things worse by adding another tier of armor with higher stats.
I’ll be glad when they restore the horizontal progression that’s what was right about this title before all this mess happened….and horizontal progression does mean buying ascended from karma vendors, and the restoration of the open world loot. That’s the only thing that will bring people back permanently.
No one’s forcing you to do content you don’t want to. You just don’t do it.
Tough luck if it’s tied to your monthly. No one is forcing you to do your monthly.
I just find it hilarious that people are complaining about 7 fractals.
SEVEN!
Maybe if it was 30, I’d understand.
BUT SEVEN!
I can’t believe someone is crying about grinding fractals just a few days into the start of monthly achievements.
No one is forcing you to grind 7 fractals in a day. You know there are 31 days in this month? And you could spread out those fractals? Maybe once or twice a week?
I can’t wait until you decide to pursue your legendary, and then whine how you need to get 500 dungeon tokens, or 500 badges of honor, but don’t mind grinding out all the lodestones and gambling for a precursor.
Then again, there’s already a thread that is whining about the badges.
Would it be called an exploit then at 0% margin? And at negative?
Yes. The exploit was not the market rebalancing/prices but the fact that recipe used 1 jewel instead of 3, which allowed to keep it for further crafting 80% of the time at 61c/salvage. All other recipes use 3+ jewels, and all jewelcrafters know this.
So it’s an exploit because someone at ANet didn’t have the brain to notice it was only using 1 jewel instead of 3? Don’t they do any testing, why are people being punished if it was ANet they messed up? I sure like the responsibility being shrugged off onto the player base (again) like previous mess ups by ANet (ie t3 cultural skins being on karama vendors since launch and only changed a couple weeks ago). Kind of getting annoyed with the poor management and handling of this game :\
By your thinking, all exploits in the game are Arenanets fault, and as a result, no one should get banned. That’s what I’m getting at.
Go find a game out there that has no bugs.
Have you seen how many players are in Orr? Especially when farming shelter/pen?
Now ask yourself, if you weren’t a bot, why would Arenanet ban all those people?
More than likely that guy was a botter. If I wanted to bot, and got caught, I would dispute it and absolutely say that I was not botting, just to insert some doubt.
“whatever reputation we have on our server simply because ArenaNet did not think through the consequences of their actions.”
Maybe your guild leader should have thought about the consequences of exploiting?
May your guild forever be known as the one led by an exploiter.
If you’re not liking the legendary then don’t craft it, you’ll regret it and it’ll be your ‘shame’ weapon.
I hope you didn’t make the gifts yet.
