I used to play City of Heroes since beta and that was 15/month till they went FTP.
So i dont mind dumping some cash into this game especially if it helps the devs out, ive probably spent around 200 bucks already
how much have you guys spent on this game?
Was it worth it?

$1000
However I’ve only spent $10 ever since January I believe.
Long run investments are lots of fun when you make a profit!
.
FTFY
There’s nothing fun about me losing 60% of the value invested in SAB skins ;(
I currently have no plans to limit players interaction with the world of Tyria in anyway. I believe it would be damaging to the economy, to the game experience and to the players overall..
We are already limited in the other interactions you mentioned. Some simple examples:
- one jumping puzzle reward per day per character
- one world boss chest reward per day per account
- diminishing returns on dungeon tokens after the first run on each path per day
- diminishing returns on farming mobs (mystery algorithm used here for security)
I’m not disagreeing with you on your response — just highlighting that we are already subject to restriction in the game to limit wealth that enters the economy.
The TP really doesn’t inject wealth, rather it removes it. So lack of restriction makes complete sense.

This is one of the most limited games to play… after an hour or an hour and a half you already have nothing else to do online cause most of the activities have already been hit by one diminishing return or the other.
Do the other +40 jumping puzzles?
Do the other dungeons and their paths?
Farm mobs in other zones?
I’d love to see a “peaceful Orr”.. kind of like the difference between Adult and Child Link in OoT… Could have the same chains where some Asura experiment went wrong and BOOM evil Orr is trying to take over.. talk about room for expansion on both Living Story and Personal Story, not to mention plenty of new events to work on.
Yeah it would be nice if we could have something similar to fractals, except that it’s not a dungeon but a whole map of an alternate reality that we can revisit.
So we could actually see how Orr was before it got flooded, with all the temples and high structures.
Didn’t even think of that.. That would actually be really frigging cool… I’m not a lore guy by any means but I’d be very interested in reading about the “Fall of Orr” if I was able to play through the “Old Orr”.
If I could vote for new zones, it would be “good versions” of SoD, ML and CS. Being able to progress through those zones preventing the Fall of Orr via events would be really cool.
If the rewards are worth it and the events don’t break, I don’t think this would fracture the player base, it would bring us together to both bring the current Orr to a state of no corruption and prevent the “Old Orr” from being overrun by said corruption. Not to mention “good” version of all the Temple Armors with God symbols could be possible.
This could actually be an expansion’s worth of content, and the lore could be adjusted appropriately.
Just mention that the brilliant asura have once again researched a way to introduce fractals on a massive scale.
And don’t forget returning to old Ascalon! Would be nice to revisit the events of the Searing Cauldron.
Heck, they can probably do Pre-Searing too!

One of the strats I heard was to make sure you have at least two classes with 1500 range attacks. Then atatck the boss from max range while the other classes take care of the spiders that spawn. This strat limits the number of spiders that spawn on you and keeps it at an acceptable rate.
But that’s all I heard, I haven’t tried it or seen it.
http://www.killtenrats.com/2013/08/01/gw2-the-orrian-interview/
I just really hope part of the fixes in the future include those god darn stupid Champion spiders that spawn dozens of hatchlings which provide no loot or exp at all.
Yet, I still don’t know if that was a bug. Could have been intentional.
That’s the 2nd time I’ve seen someone get Dusk using a Molten Greatsword.
I smell something.
This has been argued since release.
AFAIK it’s possible to increase stacks but the bandwidth issues would cause massive lag.
So which is better? Have everyone suffer because of your condition build? Or just have you suffer because of your condition build? I’d take the former. Just move off a condition build.
If the solution to a problem created by game design is to abandon a choice in build design, then why have the choice in the game at all?
I guess because even though it causes problems on a massive scale, it’s not a problem worth redesigning the whole game for. You’d have to redesign the necromancer, redesign all the items in game with condition damage and duration.
This has been argued since release.

LOL what? Are you serious? You’re telling me that somehow an action that is determined after no less than half a second, that doesn’t have the ability to crit (and thus doesn’t require any additional simulation server side) is somehow more encumbering than anything else with a short cooldown ability that can crit and requires the same number of calculations for everything else?
Just cause it seems simple doesnt’ mean it isn’t. I’m not a programmer, and I don’t think you are either, but consider that the servers have to keep in consideration the
a.) type of condition
b.) duration of condition with each stack
c.) The dmg tick of each condition
And then take all the above and multiply it by the number of players applying it on a single boss, or any other group of high-HP mobs?
That’s massive lag.

hmm cool. All classes have even footing in pvp?
Even footing? If by having an equal chance at beating each other with equivalent gear and stats, then yes. But if you mean balance, that’s subjective.
You can sPvP straight from level 1. Everyone is on equal footing since gear is all the same (except cosmetic)
I suggest you start off with PvE. Learn a few classes, the weapons and all the skill/utilities/elites.
You can do the same in SPvP but it can get overwhelming and daunting just being thrown into the fire.
There’s nothing wrong with this.
You knew before this game came out that is was not Pay To Win. All the purchases are cosmetic.
And is it shocking that some cosmetic items are outrageously expensive? No, it’s not.
Better yet though, the game has a ton of other skins available that you are still able to create a unique character.
So there’s nothing wrong here. I don’t know about you, but companies exist to make money. Anet needs to make money in order to keep making content. And the way they make money is selling keys for the small chance of being rewarded with a skin.
Yeah, it sucks, but oh well. We can’t get everything for cheap/free.
Best to try when it’s not prime time
i.e. before you go to work/school in the morning try to quickly transfer
I’m attached to my guardian simply because it has three soulbound legendaries and a lot of other gold invested in it, including a full divinity set, full zerker set, MF set and tank set.
It’s like getting stuck in a marriage because you invested so much in it and filing for divorce will be messy
7 salvages is too small a sample size
No, I think gold sinks still need to remain in game. Waypoint costs are certainly a small part of the sink equation but it’s still required.
I’ve only recently started getting into the sigil gambling business about 2 weeks.
I started off on an alt with 30g. Right now I’ve gambled my way up to 140g. My losses have been no more than 10g (and that was in one session) while my highest profit was 40g. most of the time I make 10-15g profit.
Ii’ve also got my guild into it and if you see the huge rise in price of rare sigils like Major Sigil of Air, you know why :P
I’ve always considered this but Anet really does not have any incentive to post bulk sale for gems since they don’t have any competition and they probably have great gem sales at full price anyway.
On top of that you probably already got your +20% gold to make up for the cost of it, you already gained from it and NOW you are saying because its becoming outdated that you want a refund? Goods don’t last forever and you aren’t allowed to just return it when a single use doesn’t work.
Nice try, laurels are used to buy infusions, so they are lost forever.
Rewards/loot for general gaming does need changing/tweaking, and hopefully the update on the 6th will go towards doing that. But expecting a cap to be placed on flipping, or thinking that flipping is the only “endgame” just seems somewhat odd to me.
While my own feelings are split, something should be done to pull the TP profit mongering down to match other areas of the game.
Anet has pretty much an anti-farm stance. While they can be slow to update things, they have continuously been making changes to locations where players are farming. Dungeon update, recent Arah farm spot change, etc..
To leave an area of the game completely uncapped, unregulated, etc. would not be good for the overall game. In short, it tells players, that in order to make gold, play the TP.
You and many others simply seem to be caught up in the suggestions for a fix, rather than acknowledging that a fix is needed. Whether it comes in the form of additional/increased fees, limits, or even a time limit on postings is irrelevant.
The anti farm stance is required, because farming is the number one cause of inflation in a game. The Trading Post on the other hand is the main tool used to combat inflation and thus won’t be nerfed.
.
Not necessarily. Shelt/pen/orr farms largely generate materials which do not affect gold inflation
disclosure: I have 3 legendaries
When I see another person with a legendary I think it’s safe to assume that they know how to play the game and their class and at a minimum they’re a pretty reactive player.
Meaning, if I were to see them in a dungeon, I don’t necessarily expect them to know the path, but know their class and capabilities.
I think people are overestimating the number of folks who buy their legendaries with credit cards. That’s different than people who buy their legendaries with gold generated in game.
Legendaries aren’t as prestigious as they are before, and I think the hardcore players right now should probably have at least 2 legendaries by now.
But it’s nice to have a weapon that is still exclusive
BUY BUY BUY ARTIFICER MATERIALS
You simply don’t get enough gold from open world mobs for it to be worthwhile.
True, this. I hope there is some way you can compensate for it. Or it will turn out just fine remains to be seen.
Well, they could always increase the gold you get from NPC’ing junk by 20%. But that could be a coding nightmare.
I do miss the old days when Orr event zerg train is in its prime. Back when price of T6 mats were at the bottom. Hopefully, the new patch that include new crafting materials for crafting to level 500 will give Orr its old glory back.
Back when T6 was below 1S was when bots were out in full force. Then the Great November Ban Wave happened.
You bet it’s useless. The only reason why gold infusion was ever preferred to MF was because of the gold drops from mobs.
And since the best source of gold drops from dungeons is nerfed, it’s no longer a viable option.
You simply don’t get enough gold from open world mobs for it to be worthwhile.
Well it’s your fault for putting your eggs in one basket. Or in other words, creating alts for the sole purpose of running the same dungeon multiple times.
If you love your alts so much, just run them on different paths depending on the need.
Why run them on alt, when you can just run every dungeon on your main? I’ll never play my alt now. What else I’m going to use them for, I finish all the map completion and personal story.
I’m not complaining, I’m just saying my point of view. For me “personally”, I find no use for my alt now.
Some dungeons are better suited for certain classes. Having the ability to choose gives you more options.
For example, in Twilight Arbor, it can help considerably if you have a guardian with staff. If no one is one in your party, switch to it and you can clear blossoms safer.
And people here seem to forget that the other rewards other than gold are the same.
If I read it correctly, tokens rewarded upon completion are separate so you can still farm the full 60 extra tokens on your alts.
Anyone in Tyria care anymore about dragons, undead, destroyers, and the uncountable of dangerous creatures menacing the peace?
I think this game have too much “festivals, Parties” contents. Lest have more Mass destroying, Catastrophe, Collateral damage and destruction contents or change the dragon Logo to a Balloon and a cake icon to suit you game.
“Anyone on earth care anymore about famine, wars and the uncountable of dangerous diseases? I think this world has too much “fun” and “apathy”. Let’s have more mass protests, anarchy, revolutions!"
That sounds nice and all, but not everyone logs in at the same time. There will always be a steady stream of players wanting to get their champion fix in.
And if there aren’t enough, people will call out on map and bring their guild.
I’m pretty philanthropic with my gold and I hand 1g to new players in Queensdale every now and then.
But I absolutely do not hand out gold to anyone who asks or anyone who becomes greedy and asks for more. I find those types of people repulsive.
Because the wallet is for items that you get an abundance of. Getting 1 pristine fractal per day isn’t enough to warrant a spot on the wallet. Otherwise you’d have people complaining and asking to put a slot for Gifts of Exploration or all your lvl 80 Krait Slayer Greatswords and what-not.
I like the changes to dungeon rewards but they really need to start adding boss specific loot. Preferably something going with the theme of the boss or dungeon. More gold is great and all but in my many years of playing mmo’s I’ve never gotten excited about gold. Farming gold is a chore, not a thrill. You know what gets an mmo player jacked up? Finally getting that cool looking weapon to drop after a good fight…Just look at how folks flocked to Shadow Behemoth when final rest started dropping. If all the big world bosses and dungeon end path bosses had a chance to drop a rare skin based on the dungeon or there theme/abilities dungeons would be far more popular.
Actually people flocked to SB because
1.) The event finally was fixed
2.) It was confirmed to drop Final Rest, and the price around then was in the hundreds of G’s so people wanted to get a quick buck before market correction.
As soon as Final Rest started flooding the market, the price for that elusive staff crashed.
But I do believe they need to introduce specific and extremely rare loot. And by rare I mean “Nightmare Coil recipe”-kind-of-rare
Did you all notice the part where it says “if you qualify for loot”?
It hasn’t been fully defined yet what that means. Don’t assume that “qualify” means you’ve done enough damage to the critter. Knowing Anet it very likely means “if you haven’t done this already today”.

I understand the excitement many people have about this upcoming change, and I share that excitement, to a degree. Until we see how it gets implemented, though, I’m at best cautiously optimistic.
Well what could they possibly do to make this a bad idea? Limit loot to only the top 3 players? Make it account bound?
There are hundreds of champions in the world, and I bet there are more than three dozen available in the end-game zones. So limited loot to once per day isn’t an issue.
The Claw event is a good example of why I think that Anet is going to make this a 1-per-day type thing.
In the event that they didn’t think of this, go for it until they do!!
Or they could use the easier programming route and replace those champions with veterans.
Or even replace those champions with lootless normal mobs like we have in Cursed Shore with spiders.
Wouldn’t that damage the overall difficulty of the event though?
Champs have always been an afterthought. Unless you are on an empty server or overflow, they are not an issue.
I hate to break it to y’all, but farmers will always find the most efficient way to make gold. Even Colin acknowledged that in an interview last week.
And if that results in Cof1 still being farmed then..
TOO BAD
You can get it from salvaging exotics with that as a sigil, or you can craft them from forge (small chance)
Wait until the price bottoms out further. Then buy a kitten ton in preparation for new legendaries.

Be prepared for endless Claw of Jormag farming sessions. Nobody will touch the dragon, only farming the champs.
Oh my god that will be awesome >:)
It’s funny to see how often exploiters like to stop the progression of an event. First the Champion Giant Risen in the Cursed Shores, now the champions at the Claw event…
ArenaNet needs to realize that dealing with the symptom is useless when you have to amputate – they should just ban the exploiters. This will, sooner or later, fix the issue.
You really should stop throwing the word exploiter around. Just cause you call other people exploiters doesn’t mean they will get banned because you want them to
The patch last week was fully datamined so I don’t think we know anything. You’d have to wait for patch day to see it yourself.
I just think OP is being lazy with his class and not properly traiting or utilizing the right utilities.
Take for example an ELE. An ele is incredibly diverse with the different attunements. Heck, you can even drop a hammer and a GS for extra skills.
I’m thinking the Personal portal will be a free way to travel to Lion’s Arch as well as the other home cities.
u wot m8?
I mean, I don’t understand what you’re asking.
You know if you wanted a PvP/WvW-focused game, you shouldn’t have picked GW2. Go play planetside 2 or something.
PvE is the main focus of this game. Let alone you seem to ignore all the WvW additions/QoL improvements you have gotten.
Farming shelt/pen was how I met other players in my original server. It was good community building. But then they nerfed event after event, and I saw less and less of the regulars. I eventually transferred out.
So thanks Anet for splitting communities! Now let’s hope these changes will help solidify server awareness and unity outside of WvW.
Well, that’s just, like, you’re opinion man.
I think they’re good.
Depends on how many people start farming those champions and what the drop rate will be.
Lodestones are priced the way they are largely because of demand. Supply seems to be steady across the world. That equation could change next week.
I’m going to preface this by saying I love this game, I play almost every day and I have thoroughly enjoyed the living story, new content and I’m very much looking forward to this patch as well.
With that said, has this champion thing been thought out well? Before I start making assumptions, could we get some more clarification on this? Most champions are ridiculously easy to kill and it’s really starting to get easy to get anything in this game at that point. I’d like some challenge, not turning this game into that “other MMO” where everything is handed to you on a silver platter.
I’d enjoy hearing some more details about this.
It’s impossible to make something challenging in an open-world game. Because the devs would have to construct every single scenario that could come about, with consideration of class and # of people participating.
If you want a challenge, then I suggest you stick to doing the harder dungeons which will have a 3G reward (Arah for e.g.)
We just had an assassination already, I doubt they’d do it again so quickly.
A kidnapping? That I could see.
