Being an integral part of the personal story is no protection. Outside of the personal story she only exists in small closed space – which could be changed by the events of the living story which take place AFTER she’s played her part in the personal story.

She does play an integral part. In fact she is involved in one mission (human story lvl 28) where you need to protect her.

How exactly are they going to change that up? They can’t.

Nope, I don’t even do sPvP dailies. I’ve only done a sPvP daily ONCE!

Most of my AP is doing all the attainable achievements and PvE dailies since release.

A large portion of AP comes from dailies so if you’ve been doing them since release you have a huge headstart.

eating listing fees as losses.

When you have all of 7g to your name, losing 2g in listing fees isn’t something you just shrug off.

The you price your goods to sell. You undercut by a lot since you are low on funds. If you don’t, you’re risking losing that fee

I’m in the same boat as Ves, also pre-ordered the digital deluxe version, and since the first day of launch made and deleted a lot of characters. Now none of the characters i made at launch exsist anymore.. so am i screwed? i dearly hope the birthday gifts count according to how old the account is and not the character.

Aaand same with me too, i’ve already deleted the first 3 characters i ever made, about half a year ago. The gift is for each character btw, at least that’s what i read… But after reading what the gifts would be, i don’t feel so bad actually.

Same thing with Anet. Those scrolls cost next to nothing for Anet. But it does give incentive for those who are maxed on slots to buy. But if no one buys, then Anet doesn’t care. As long as people in game have something for their dedication.

I think you guys missed the point, in fact, I think you guys didnt even bother to read. This isnt about “mesmers are now useless since everyone can get a portal”, this about “mesmer were never allowed to have speed boosts because they would bring a unique mechanic to the game that would allow them to transport anyone, having a speed boost would only increase the strenght of this”

Now everyone who really wants to can bring said portal and a speed boost to back it up. I think it is time we move from that archaic way of thinking and give mesmers the uncalled for lack of movement speed for exploring without having tyo spend 15 gold in runes and having to occupy a weapons slot that most likely than not you will not like.

What rationale is this?

The portal has a huge cooldown to begin with, and only a certain distance, so using teleport isn’t going to speed up travel time vs a guy with 15% swiftness

If anything, the reason why mesmer has no speed is because of the clones and their ability to ‘kite’ enemies and move around

Absolutely hate farming and the philosophy behind it. I don’t think a lot of players like farming they just like loot. To be honest a lot of MMO Players, particularly Progression Type players often have Self Esteem Issues and other Psychological Problems. Progression and obtaining rare gear or equipment gives them something to be proud of and allows them for once in their lives to be successful at something and rise above their peers. No longer are they that weird rejected kid with poor social skills, they are now powerful and 1337 and they believe that other players look at them enviously. Once this wears off they move to another game and rinse and repeat. It’s a sad reality really.

ArenaNet should have learned by now. Whenever they say they have a surprise, people:

1. Let their imagination go wild and expect all kinds of impossible things, only to be incredibly disappointed when they see what was actually in store for them.

2. Claim everything ArenaNet does sucks, so whatever it is that will come will be bad, and they will continue saying the same thing once the content is released.

Trying to make a surprise for people on the internet is the same as using sarcasm on the internet – you fail after the first person reads what you have written.

I bet the Living Story writers and Colin are really sad he said that. I guess the intention always was to manage expectations, so in a sense it’s working, but knowing that there will be no dragon or new zone this year is really putting a damper on the speculation on the secrets of the second half of this month.

I think of it as putting a damper on expectations. It would suck to have people build up all this hype and then suddenly realize that nothing extravagant is happening. Yeah it stinks but it’s the right move.

And especially with how GW2 players seem to be the most entitled of all, managing expectations is important otherwise these forums would be drowned in constant complaining.

Hypothetically, suppose I have absolutely no interest in killing champions. That I don’t want to run around and hit 1 with my ranged weapon for hours.

Instead, I want to play WvW or do jumping puzzles or complete dynamic events or explore the map or level an alt. Am I to be left behind? Doomed to walk Tyria a poor man because I won’t spend my time in some mindless time sink?

You are left behind if you don’t want to dedicate the time and resources to get the items that farmers want.

Vol you clearly missed the point. Many players are better off deleting an experience scroll because they already have 8+ level 80 characters. They aren’t going to make any more characters, so an item which only works on characters below level 20 is just taking up space.

Then put it in the bank in case you DO want to make a new character? It doesn’t cost Anet money but it actually encourages a select # of players to purchase another slot.

If you don’t use it, then tough luck. At least you got a minipet and an exp boost for when you want skillpoints.

Gifts are appreciated, but not expected. The moment you expect and demand things you become materialistic and miss the whole point of ‘birthday’ celebrations.

Don’t stop there. I would also like to get a free precursor, 100g, and 1000 gems.

This is true, but hey, with the 4 teams now, the team that’s worked on this release won’t release again until January, so maybe Collin threw out the ‘no new regions this year’ specifically knowing we’d get there at the very beginning of next year? It’s a long shot, but I can dream.

Don’t forget that Colin said that there are a group of designers outside those 4 teams that are designing other content. So it’s safe to say that the 5th team is working on expansion content, and when appropriate, will combine it with living story content.

It’s meant to entice you to purchase more character slots.

Recovery is available, but it rolls back the entire account to the specific date, can only be used once during the lifetime of your account and only works for stuff lost within the last several months.

That only works on compromised accounts afaik.

Intentionally deleting your character doesnt’ follow that

World bosses that take long aren’t worth it. 1 rare is not worth it. Especially for jormag when you have two long phase sand he doesn’t even drop a champ loot (since he’s not a champ)

Temples are also not worth it since right now they are not rewarding (melandru, Dwayna and Arah) or not scaled right (Balthazar)

That’s a brilliant observation that I hadn’t noticed before. I, personally, miss updates being once a month period. I know most would disagree and fresh content is great but I feel like with two concurrent events going on at once gives me too much to do in a smaller amount of time. Flame and Frost release schedule was perfect for me albeit sort of short spurts of small content rather than everything all at once.

One of the devs in an interview stated that player activity dropped off after 2 weeks. So they changed monthly content to 2-week content to keep them engaged. So they’re catering to the majority of the playerbase.

Stop posting spam and duplicate threads

When i sell crafting materials i never undercut. I just copy the lowest selling price. It’s going to sell anyway.

When I sell expensive items that are high in demand (i.e. precursors) I often undercut by a lot (30g)

When I place in buy orders I always overcut by 1c

Please don’t forget to turn off Gauntlet ticket drops! Support tokens are still in the game from the previous living story…

Guardian. You’ll get more use out of it. Guardian GS is the best DPS for it’s class.

My biggest problem as a guardian doing 8 orb is in the 2nd phase – even if you lure the adds into the portal, only one of them gets transformed, and I have no time or safety to pick it up.

I’ve tried using virtue of justice with blinding trait but it doesn’t always work ;/

by the time you get the PM it would be dead.

Best bet is to camp a balloon spot (Queensdale on a high pop server), look around for the champ and then continuosly complete the balloon event until it activates the champ.

8 orb Liadri is different than fighting her normally. Your strats while fighting her the normal way do not apply on 8 orb.

Even if the rifts are “RNG”. They have around 5 seconds until they pull you. They die in one hit. So if you have an AOE attack they should be trivial. If you fail to see it then it’s really your fault.

I used the strategy that someone here recommended for guardian, and I was sure it wasn’t going to work.

Usually you’d want to use sceptre, right? Well you don’t do as much DPS with it, and sometimes when you are kiting across the room, you get out of range from the far oozes and they go near the boss.

It’s better to go sword/shield with reflection and shield of judgment.
Basically you want to fight infront of the boss, and making sure that you stand within his hit box (you’ll have to jump on to him) so that it’ll slowly push him away from oozes. If too many oozes spawn and you start taking damage, pop your utilities. You can control him by positioning yourself properly (don’t corner him against the edge).

When he reaches low enough health, you can burn him down with GS (just hope no oozes spawn nearby)

The exchange rate for gold/gems is not a good commodity to judge inflation.

What if Anet suddenly released an unlimited Master salvage kit? That would increase the gold/gem rate.

But that doesn’t mean gold inflation has occurred.

Do rangers have a cripple?

It’s best to slow down Chomper as much as possible and to run to the food as soon as the other guy throws it.
