I have also run max magic find. For quite some time I tried to increase my odds. Didn’t change my loot drops in any noticable way. Sure I got more greens than before but kitten . Trash loot is trash loot.

You should change your sig to say ‘MF gear works for me’.

+60 exotics in 5 months is not a fluke. Maybe you’re not killing enough mobs for MF gear to be best utilized

MF gear works best in:
-zergs with high number of mobs
-classes with superb tagging ability, such as the Guardian

They have yet to disclose it. I think they’re still working on the details on how to properly compensate players considering there are thousands of MF-related items in game.

My guess would be they would operate just like blues/greens. They would be salvagable for MF consumables to temporarily/permanently boost your MF stat.

You bought those skins without ever considering that they were going to be sold.

NCSoft is a publicly traded company and releases financial info for itself and the companies it owns, including Arenanet. There have been many discussions about how profitable Guildwars 2 has been.

It makes a LOT of money every quarter, most of which is from the cash shop. It’s not hard to figure out that they’re selling a lot of stuff, and rng boxes are a big part of those sales, because they keep selling them. I believe since the game was released it has been #2 in NCsoft’s top earning games.

GW2 makes less money than they anticipated, it accounts for 16% of profits I believe, well behind Lineage. They could make more by lowering prices, actually.

One of the quartly reports specifically stated that they are not working on an expansion yet BECAUSE GW2 is making more money than anticipated, but if revenue drops they have that option.

There is another thread somewhere about how some website has declared GW2 the fastest selling MMO ever. This is not an underperforming game, its first year has been a smashing success, despite the efforts of a couple dozen forum trolls to label it a failure.

GW2 is not a failure but that’s not the title of this thread. The keys are overpriced and ArenaNet – who were the source on the fastest selling propaganda, because that’s what it is – could make more money by lowering the price on them.

To recap: GW2 is good, it is a success. Overpriced BLK is bad.

Just cause something gets cheaper doesn’t mean it’ll bring more money to them.

Always pick the boxes. The skins are something like 5% chance. I have done 10-15 events and I have 3 shoulder skins already. And you get some silver from selling the junk that comes in boxes.

I would think so, considering that it is an entirely different market operating under a different entity. You can’t make the argument between EU and NA since they are operated by the same entity.

Not to mention you have an entirely different set of skins in the Chinese game due to their censorship laws ( but let’s not get political here)

Awhile back there was a comparison between skins and users noticed noticeable differences. You can’t account for that in a world-wide TP.

And the economic disadvantage would be on the Chinese’ part.

Yes they are notorious for botting but that’s not stopping them from doing that here on NA/EU. And Anet has done a good job on botting ever since their massive ban wave last November. The economic disadvantage would be that they would be so far behind on accumulating gold that they would have a minor impact compared to NA/EU players.

The overflow timer is in place so that people aren’t playing a metaevent that would end after the next one would start.

I can imagine the outcry if a metaevent started at the half hour on an overflow an then abruptly ended because it was approach the 1-hour reset time.

I have done well over 10 events and only failed 1 of them – that was the first one I did where no one had a clue on mechanics.

Not to mention Hunger Games did rip off the concept from Battle Royale.

I should also amend that the threshold doesn’t appear to be a static number, say 10k damage.

It appears to be a percentage of the bosses HP, like 5%. That’s why it gets harder to tag when you have a whole zerg as opposed to a few people.

What people fail to realize in these new events is that Scarlet herself actually does drop a Deluxe Box. You need to be in a full party with massive DPS in order to get credit.

Intentionally failing is actually way more profitable than completing the event.

The difference in rewards between completing it and failing the 3rd wave is like one full aetherblade event.

Actually the mechanic is more complicated and I think it varies by enemies.

-they can get revived
-they can explode after 3 seconds
-they can be consumed by larger mobs, transforming them to even more powerful enemies

I’ve done it.

Buy weapons, they sit on the TP waiting to be picked up.

Pick up X weapons, place sell orders for your target price.

Repeat until all weapons are listed on the TP.

Eventually, the weapons sell and you pick up the money. They don’t have to ever sit in the bank.

It’s not quick money, but it’s pretty certain that they will eventually sell, unless you set a ridiculous price – see the “15 gold for a green level 50 dagger” thread.

That’s waaay to much of a hassle, especially if you’re doing that for monthly salvaging.

You save a miniscule amount of gold, and if you’re good at playing the TP I very much doubt you would even do this since time/bank space is money.

Over 3000 hours played and I’ve only gotten one exotic drop. I threw in about 2000 rares and 1,500 exotics into the mystic forge (that I bought) and I lost about 1000 gold. No more rng. Go look at the link in my sig. I haven’t even updated it in months and I’ve probably had 20 more exotics since I last updated it.

And another thing, you need to look at is playstyles

If you have three players, all with 3000 hours in game…

And one of them constantly farms and has a high kill rate per hour

And the other only runs dungeons

And the 3rd just does WvW

Well, who is going to have the most rolls at loot? The first dude is going to have a greater chance at rolling epic loot that makes him rich.

Kill/rate per hour is an extremely important factor.

And in a 1 month span I got a Dusk and The Legend. Impressive right?

But not as much when you consider how many hours I farmed and that I use MF gear every single time I did open world PvE.

Or how about the Mystic Forge? Well one day I decided to go on another gambling spree. I ended up with getting Dusk in a 100g spending session. A few weeks later I tried my hand once again (this time with stones), and I got Zap. Impressive?

Not when you consider that before that I wasted 900g since the start of release on the forge, and got no precursors.

Fact is, you will have winners and you will have losers. Or as I like to call it, the successes of the few are paid for by the many. There will be very few people who will get extremely lucky and make it out way on top. There will be considerably more people who will end up status quo and break even (like me). And then there’s the majority of the playerbase that fails at odds and loses more than they wanted.

I put them in the bank and was still allowed to go in.

I think unlocking the achievement is enough to allow you in.

But that’s exactly what they did in the patch 2 weeks ago…

My apologies, it seems I interpretted your “loot” comment as the same thing as the chests you get upon reaching certain achievement points, and the ensuing “loot” or skins you get from them, among other items.

Nonetheless, you are making a big fuss over something minor. There’s nothing game changing about a mini, an infinite tonic or a cutscene journal. It’s a reward for seeing through the end and completing content. It’s a token that shows “I was there”

You play it off like that’s a bad thing.

To much of anything can be a bad thing. It seems more and more, when the devs make a change instead of tweaking it, they go in with a sledge hammer. I remember working with a women who found out she could change the color of text in a document. After that, everything she did looked like an explosion in a paint factory with every paragraph a different color. The achievements remind me of that. Once the devs added them, it seems that is all they can think about now and just don’t know when to stop. It’s the same with culling, they can’t seem to adjust it, it’s either all or nothing with no in between.

So whats exactly is the problem with loot and achievements? As far as I know, you can get no more than 3 unique sets, 1 weapon and 2 armor sets. What’s so troubling about that? It rewards people for dedicating their time in the game. And what’s better than showing that you did ‘this’? By having these unlimited skins.

Anet is making lots of achievements so that newer players can go for these skins. Many of the old players have a lot of points made up from dailies. So it’s a ‘catch-up’

This game needs more achievements, not less. I can’t see the argument otherwise.

And what happened in the instance? I think it’s pretty clear that we were sent there to get more exposure on Scarlet. Learn about her.

Now we know she’s crazy and just wants to play with us for her amusement. Also, we had to save Lord Faren.

Kiting is not necessary, unless you are scared of getting hit.

When you’re facing off a champion, sure. But kiting on a normal mob is overkill.

And vets can be easily killed in your face by melee classes.

I’m more of a ‘reasonable’ and ‘fair’ player. If this game deserves to be criticized, then I will agree with it. But if you’re biased, unreasonable or down right clueless then I will do my best to point out what’s wrong with what you wrote.

Mesmers might have the only good utility in dungeons
Condition damage might still be fundamentally flawed
TA forward up is still broken and requires a team way beyond the obvious intended skill-level
There might still not be a looking for group despite the game being out for almost a year
Guild-wars might still not be in GuildWars yet
The Game might suffer from horrible ability lag due to poor programming
Most classes might suffer from fundamental issues with design in terms of builds

Here’s what I would do [and some questionable points by OP]:

-Warriors still have tremendous damage with little risk. Perhaps trade off high damage with less mobility/weakness?
-Mesmers might have the only good utility in dungeons. Can we please have other classes in game that can provide buffs to the rest of the party [but OP completely ignore guardians and warbanner/shout warriors)
-Condition damage might still be fundamentally flawed [ this one has no solution, it’s an infrastructure problem]
-TA forward up is still broken and requires a team way beyond the obvious intended skill-level – can we perhaps change the boss mechanics and at least get a confirmation from a dev that this is not intended and a bug?
-There might still not be a looking for group despite the game being out for almost a year. I know I can use gwlfg.com but it would be nice to have it in game.
-Guild-wars might still not be in GuildWars yet [‘Guild’ in GW2 has nothing to do with fighting other guilds]

It’s not even a dungeon. It’s just a small instance to advance the story. What did you expect?

Just try it out again. Kill the champs in the next meta event (in 30 mins) and if you don’t get it, well..
