I wouldn’t put it past you guys to introduce several gold sinks in the next few releases to handle inflation

- materials from vendors for 500 crafting
- new cultural armors and weapons

I would wager the gold influx from the invasions is worse than gauntlet

Just look at the inflation growth from both periods (note you shouldn’t include this week since the rise in price is from speculation and not inflation)

Even though it’s one commodity (and inflation is calculated from indexes), glob is a highly tradeable commodity to look at. Roughly during the gauntlet patch, ectos rose 18s to 24s. After that and before Tuesday it fluctuated from 22-24s. Pretty flat. If gold faucets were worse with these invasions it would have kept going up.

Ectos right now are 29s, but again, that’s from speculators.

So first off, the amount of RNG involved is so high in obtaining 7 tickets that you would be better off just converting gems you bought with real life money to gold and buying the skins off the Trading Post, then using those gems to buy keys.
If you are not using real life money and you are converting gold to gems…. well then you are an utter fool as the amount of gold you need to do this far far out succeeds the current fused skin prices on the Trading Post.

Lets say a fused skin is 250g (this prices is rather high compared to what the prices actually are and you most likely can get the skin cheaper than this). What you can do is use your 7 tickets and buy 7 zodiac weapons. You can then sell this skins for about 40g (this is basing off of highest buyer and after taking in taxes; AGAIN, you can probably get more money then this for the skins, but Im trying to prove my point here).

7 skins x 40g per skin = 280g total

This means that you could buy the fused skin for the 250g and have 30g left over, which is much better than wasting 7 tickets on JUST the skin.

Moral of the story: RNG is horrible trash and you should never buy into it. 7 tickets is a horrible price and Anet should feel horrible for implementing it.

Except that the reason why they priced it so expensive is to keep the rarity of the skin in tact.

Anet wants to do two things with these skins
-maintain the rarity of the item
-provide an alternative to still obtain the skin for those that truly wanted it

And what better way to do that then price the skin so high that only those who really want it will pursue it?

Yeah, but what Anet failed to realize is that there is absolutely NO reason to pursue the other option due to horrible RNG and the fact that there is cheaper ways to obtain the same thing. You have to be a fool to us the 7 tickets on a fused skin when you can get the same thing and then some for using those 7tickets on something else.

Well right now the situation with precursors is exactly the same situation. You can buy it guaranteed or you can risk gambling it.

You can buy the fused weapon outright by converting the gems you would have spent otherwise…or you can spend those gems and gamble on the tickets.

And let us suppose you did end up with 7 tickets. Should I spend it all on the weapon or should I buy other stuff and sell it? The latter is still a gamble and a risk. You could be undercut, making you lose money quickly. You also spread your gold all around, increasing the risk that you may not recoup the funds in a timely fashion.

There was a post a few weeks ago, very “Baghdad” Bobish from a staffer saying that inflation wasnt going on. Well, it looks like it is and it looks like it has flipped several main markets in the game upside down. Mid July was a major hit followed by later on in this month.

The farming has gotten a little over the top. What are we on now, about a month straight of farming events? We had the arena in DR and now the random ones out in the world? People are collecting a LOT more money that usual and it is effecting the economy.

But what does that mean? A lot of players don’t make 3 gold in weeks of normal game play. This could be a huge increase percentage wise for median player wealth, which is going to lower then value of money as demand for items will rise due to extra cash in the system that was earned with low effort.

people are going to spend easy cash recklessly as opposed to cash that took more effort to earn.

I wish we could hear more about this from John. I do have some concerns that the game is getting bloated. The gem price and cost of mini’s (original) right now is wild.

They already nerfed the gauntlet which is the sole culprit for inflation. Farming in general doesn’t harm the economy. You need to look at what players are specifically farming.

Farming gold drops = leads to inflation
Farming items = disinflation or even deflation

I don’t think they are catering to casuals.

That being said, I would presume that Anet makes a ton of $ from casuals. They simply don’t have time to play as often and are more inclined to spend $ to keep up.

Many players are already at lvl 80. We have little to no use for EXP so we don’t really care for it.

If you want to take a gamble and be lucky then by all means. But don’t complain when you don’t get anything, considering that there are non RNG, guaranteed ways of getting a precursor.

If you want a precursor, go buy a cheap one. Go buy The Bard or an underwater precursor.

If you can’t play this game properly on a low-end computer then that’s your fault and not anet’s. There are options in game to adjust for this such as character details, LOD and textures.

Dungeon reward revamp 1.5g for AC, 3g/1.5g for Arah and 1g for every other dungeon path, I would hardly call a revamp. But more of a lazy ‘crap we’ve, got to throw them a bone fast’ bandage fix. Not to mention the nerf to dungeon tokens which was completely unnecessary.

Oh, them ‘plans’ for future dungeon rework… Yeah, how are they coming along… Oh right, they’re taking their sweet time on that one. But don’t worry, every 2-3 months they come on the dungeon sub forum, just to assure us that they’re ‘working on things’. Sure sounds reassuring.

Forums are like 60% people who are tired of the game and want an avenue to rant and convince others not to play the game (I laugh at all those attention-seeking ’I’m quitting’ posts..if you don’t like the game just quit)

Fused weapons will be incredibly rare now. I have both a Fused GS and a Fused Longbow and supply is very short. And I doubt we will be seeing any new Fused weapons entering the world supply since the cost for tickets is ridiculous.

I’ve been watching Storm for +6 months now, stocking up on as many as 4 Storms in anticipation that a graphical rework was due.

It took awhile, but the investment has finally paid off. I made between 150-200g per Storm and I would made more if I bought them out when they were under 100g.

I’m fairly confident that the new price is largely from speculators. The steady rise from 100g to around 150/170g was due to inflation as well as the 2nd-half preview by Colin awhile back.

Would you honestly ever considering selling Dusk to the former and losing 300g?

I guess realistically you could buy up a ton of exotic magic find gear, and know they will at least offer common stat conversions (PVT/zerker/knights) and as long as your investment cost for those magic find items was less than the equivalent of those three, you would be fine. Then you could make some money off selling the oddball stat combos if they were offered.

I try to make it a habit never to invest in too many stacks, or else I get burnt.

It happened to me for my 3000 Armored Scales earlier this year, as well as my 3000 Elaborate Totems.

Armored scales took me 3 months to recoup cost and I finally made a 15% profit, but it wasn’t worth it due to opportunity costs. Of course now, Armored Scales are at +25s.

Elaborate Totems brought me losses and continue this day. I bought 3000 at 16s and ended up having to sell most at a loss at 18s (not including TP fees). Whatever is left in the bank is just for personal use.

Vicious Claws may very well rise in price but I just dont’ want to invest too much in any one item since ANYTHING can happen.

It’s permanent. Passes are temporary to encourage gem sales for those who want convenience.

I’ve already made a killing off those 2 Storm’s which I bought several months ago. Both Fused weapons I can make an easy 40g right now but I can make a ton more by waiting. I’m going to make a ton off cores/t6/clodes when lvl 500 crafting and and new legendaries come out.

with the macro one could alert team members to enemy movements faster or direct people to certain areas quicker.

Everytime I’ve found a Rare Greatsword and sold it on the Market, it was 10s over the price of an Ecto. Do you think that has anything to do with the precursor’s mysterious supply rates? There’d have to be SOME kind of correlation for someone or someones to be going through that many of them when they could be crafting more themselves for less upfront investment. What could possibly explain that volume being so high? Some kind of tear in the RNG Mystic Toilet continuum?

You aren’t entitled to the new rewards. Those are for new players. Not for old.

Why would you be entitled to free items made on a purchase made over a year ago? No reasonable business would do such a thing since that is costly.
