AFAIK inflation is calculated using a wide variety of commodity items or services from different industries/categories (consumer price index)
i.e. food, apparel, transportation, education, health
in GW2 you’d need to take a look at the prices for nearly all the items. You can’t just take a look at, say, crafting materials such as t5/t6 since those alone can be influenced greatly by new crafting lvls or legendaries
Before that patch, you had to do a high amount of damage to get credit for loot. That’s why it was beneficial to tag mobs as a party, since damage from other party members is pooled.
Post patch, the amount to do is much, much lower. So much lower that you don’t have to party up, even with zergs.
Yeah what I meant was sometimes you get a passive buff from other players.
i.e. guardians have passive buffs which give toughness. There may be other classes that give boosts to healing power
considering you can ezmode farm deadeye at 20g/hour, you put 2 and 2 together and what do you get? inflation!
That would be the case if
a.) all classes could do it as efficiently
b.) everyone is doing itwell the thing is I really DONT want to take advantage of this and grind deadeye…but if this inflation keeps up i’ll be FORCED to grind deadeye for the 20gold/hour.
Considering this event lasts until september it’s just a matter of time until everyone and their mom starts doing it.
I’ll be transparent here – I didn’t know about it until you said it. And tonight I’ll try it on my zerk warrior :P
I assume you use all gambits on Deadeye? And even through buying tickets, you still profit?
we don’t need more people doing this T_T
TOO LATE SUCKA.
Inflation here we come!

More people = lower chance of obtaining weapons.
I think this could fix the problem.
(furthermore zerging is not even so challenging)
“DON’T FARM WITH US WE WANT MORE LOOT”
“gtfo we are running a guild farm group, find your own spot”
I guess I could delete them all, I only have one max level character, he has the first tier of the yellow gear you can get at max level the vigil stuff and also the asura dungeon helmet.
I never considered deleting them all before though and doing it that way, seems like throwing away a lot of time and effort though including any gold I do get from selling, as far as I know you don’t get to keep it if everything is deleted.
Before the patch you could keep everything in the bank and it would be there (of course your soulbound gear would not work)
But now with the wallet, you can delete everything and you currencies would still be there. It’s just all your armor and items would be gone. But karma, badges, tokens and gold are saved.
Lvling to 80 is pretty easy, especially if you do it now and head over to the Pavillion to farm. Then you can also gain an easy 10 levels for just 5 gold by crafting with food. You can also get another 20 levels by paying 10-15g for other crafting professions.
And if all you do is WvW, running with zergs chain capping stuff will help as well.
If inflation was suddenly a problem for this patch, I would have bet John Smith would have recommended a quick patch adjustment late last week. It’s his job to watch it.
But since we haven’t had anything (if there were no stealth nerfs), I think this may have been intended.
Perhaps lvl 500 crafting and new legendaries may come out next week…
I don’t see how Liadri is largely luck. The aoes are predictable, so you can actually kite in a huge circle and not get hit by it.
Just remember guys, that even though gold drops have increased considerably (especially from boxes), a tons of loot have also dropped, and players have been dumping them on the TP. Just look at all the dropped prices in terms of lodestones, t5 mats and select skins. 15% cut is a significant gold sink.
So why did the prices for mini’s go up pretty much across the board?
I’m not talking the prestige ones, but normal blues and greens. Doubtful the demand has spiked here.
One possible explanation was one or two players decided to buy up a bunch of blue/green mini’s to gamble in the forge.
Inflation of 20-30% over the course of a week would have caused the game’s economy to collapse.
How did you arrive at that number?
the foods I eat are 20-30% more expensive.
…………
At times feel it should be illegal for people to use terms they don’t quite understand.
Let’s just hope John Smith doesn’t venture to this subforum..
Now I’m returning and I’ve linked up with a former guild and want to join them, but now I find while the transfer was free before it’s now something like £20 for the gems to be able to do this. That seems an inordinately amount, I get the reason for the cost but it still seems a lot, and kind of punishes those who joined the game later or took a break from the game and want to join their friends.
I’d be fine starting a character from level 1 but the way the system works stops that from happening, so now I’m kind of stuck on a server where I know no one and those I do no I can only guest transer to and even then I couldn’t do the pvp or wvwvw.
It’s an appropriate amount. It prevents large guilds from leaving servers frequently and messing up the rankings, as well as spying. The alternative is to have server transfers free – and that’s something that would just be terrible for WvW.
It’s your fault for taking such a long leave of absence – Anet said well before release that server transfers would be paid in the near future. They even gave 2-4 weeks advance before they introduced the fee.
And yes, you absolutely can delete all you characters and still be able to transfer for free. That’s your best alternative.
Otherwise, pay for the transfer costs or ask your new guild for loan/donation.
I kept reading about people complaining about Liandri ever since the release.
I tried her for the first time yesterday, but I went straight for the 8 orb achievement. I wasted 8 hours on that, but as soon as I decided to beat her straight forward, I got it in 3 tries.
I don’t know why you guys want to nerf a boss that is pretty straightforward and predictable. I’m thinking you guys either want faceroll content or you don’t know your class.
Took you 8 hours to beat a pretty straight forward fight?
I think point proven. Beating her on your 3rd try after 8 hrs, thats like saying once I learned the fight, studied the pattern after my 50th try, I nailed it on my first….makes no sense.
It took me 8 hours to try for the 8orb achievement. I failed, and after having 10 tickets left, I decided to just kill her without the 8orb. Took me only 3 tries.
The 8 orb achievement is a whole other level of difficulty than Liadri. I don’t think killing Liadri deserves a title or a minipet, but the 8 orb achievement? I’m all for it.

There is a difference between inflation and an increase in price due to demand.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Higher demand led to higher prices.
The meat is actually a projectile attack, so if you’re happy with your damage you can bring Wall of Reflection and Shield of the Avenger to block it which stops it from spawning. I also brought a sword+shield and a hammer for the knockbacks as well as the Bane Signet which proved to be overkill.
^ this is how I did it.
If you still don’t have enough DPS, you could try and take the first meat and then pop your skills.

It was never considerably high. And it changes from time to time, due to healing power and traits.
Cursed Shore champ farming is way better than both of these.
1.) Static champions that do not upscale respawn in 2-3 minutes and they do not take forever to kill.
2.) The Glided Coffers drop both entropy and genesis, which sells for around 200g. Bags are also guaranteed exotic (as opposed to Queensdale champs)
3.) If you have a large enough zerg that can farm anchorage, you can get 30 boxes in 10 minutes. Event respawns in 5 minutes.
Well i completely missed the 10% xtra dmg for scepter so il try that out. atm i run at 0/25/5/ 30/10. I really wanna keep the confi removal on shout cuz that saved my kitten numerous times. Its also one of the main reason i play on my guardian and not on my ranger cuz the cripple was just to mutch.
Check your bank – you may have a speed booster from opening up a ton of bl kits. That helps since you dont have to keep swiftness all the time. Also be sure to use the trait that removes a debuff every 10 seconds.
Rare bug.
Sometimes two people get ported in.
Sometimes one person has the floor open up and the second guy goes and the floor is still open
Sometimes the buffs from the previous match up are still available.
Minor, rare bugs.
There is no evidence and I doubt there will ever be, let alone I don’t understand why Anet would encourage a different rate.
There is no rationale for that – to punish people who choose one way or another?
Sorry but i let myself go with my feelings and in part of it i cried so couldnt stop sorry for the inconvenience
Honestly, real honesty here: If you’re crying over typing a story on a forum about a video game because you don’t think you can 100% complete that game and might miss some content sometimes, you have a problem and should stop playing the game. You are far too emotionally invested in the game. Play another game, go outside and get RL friends, anything but do not play GW2 if the LS content literally makes you cry.
This This This. It may come off as a jerk but seriously…
If you cry over a game then you have way more problems that don’t involve Anet and GW2. You really need to revisit why you play the game. You are nowhere near the ‘average gamer’ and expecting Anet to design a game around you is not worth it.
I think the only reason why they gave us that option for the triforge was due to the immense cost to making it.
While you can make the same argument for Foefire, it’s just a skin. While the triforge is made for stats.
If you can’t do the achievement.
Then you don’t deserve the achievement.
It’s that simple
Zero acknowledgement from the devs here. I think it’s because that kind of post gets moved over to the other sections (i.e. community events)
They even posted on twitter/facebook but I don’t think there was a response there either.
There is more than enough time to kill her normally. But if you want to do the 8 orb achievement it’s quite difficult.
Kill her with sceptre but make sure you are traited with the 10% extra sceptre damage.
I just find it funny how people think 1 chest from a boss and a free rare every 2 hours is worth way more than 20-30 boxes + other loots every 15 minutes.
Read dulfy.net
I wasted 8 hours yesterday trying to beat her on my Guardian for that achievement. Couldn’t do it. Spent about 80 tickets.
Gonna spend the whole week farming more tickets and gonna try again on the weekend :|
Liadri herself is not hard. It’s her achievement with 8 orbs.
I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to kill her + do the achievement so I can get 2 in 1. I failed at the latter, so I gave up and just killed her the normal way. Got it in 3 tries.
Best gw2 site IMO next to gw2stuff.com. Always use it for crafts.
Speculation incomming.
Pile of putrid essence is a tier 6 rare 400 crafting material in the same group as lodestones.
Its the only cheap tier 6 material. The reason why its cheap is because as of yet there is not alot of recepies that use them.
And yes they drop from risen so plenty out there at the moment, but so can be said about many other tier 6 materials and those are much higher in price.
However that may soon change.Soon there will be alot of new recepies out when the crafting limit is upped from 400 to 500.
This may open up alot of new uses for especially 400 crafting materials. As of now putrid essence cost very close to its vendor price (49 copper) So if you buy them at lets say 60 copper, you can never loose much as you can sell to vendor if needed.
That makes it a very “safe” investment. Its cost almost 50 silver to make 1 pile of putrid essence, so if demand skyrocket for one reason or another you cant just make them.
A-net has several times in the past made more uses of not so much used materials. And pile of putrid essence is the one in most need of all. And I think the time may very soon come.
Pile of putrid essence is the only cheap “lodestone” crafting material and with all the new recepies/ascended gear comming up I think they will be used a lot more and therefor increase in price. So, what do you think? Do you think they will finally put out more use for this unloved tier 6 rare crafting material? Let me know your opinion.
- This is just speculation. Do not take it as investment advice. Make your own research and come up with your own conclusions. Keep it constructive
OP, I thought about this ever since the game released. Then I realized back in December what an unsound investment it is, and I sold off all my stacks (over 36). Here is why:
Essence only drop from risen mobs. It does not make any sense for Anet to release new recipes that have no relation to the Risen that use essence. Right now the current uses are for potions, and undead runes/sigils.
I could understand investing in lodestones, or t6 mats, since those drop from a wide variety of mobs. But essence drops from a huuuge selection of risen classes, whether they are fish, giants or krait.
The only situation where I see Anet addressing piles is using it as a trade in like they did with the Sanctum boxes.
I’m sure Anet will make future use of essence. But time is moeny and I don’t think it’s worth putting your gold in an asset that will take forever to appreciate.
Go ahead and report them. Nothing will happen
I farmed this last year and got reported. Still here.
It will get nerfed, but don’t get excited that you think people will get banned
It’s OK, I found a new spot
Champions no longer drop loot boxes in personal story lines.
Or at least, the one that I was farming that gave me 1 per 1 minute
GG Anet!
Not for everyone but the sheer #’s gives us better odds!
The one I do know that is dropping for everyone is Cobalt. We had 5 Cobalts drop in about 5 hours of farming, split amongst at least two dozen.
You can blame it on our server since we are farming it like crazy :P. In fact two days ago we had so many people there was massive culling and the champs barely lasted 5 seconds ;D
What exactly are my ideals? :S
Your tone implies you are angry at Anet, almost as if they intentionally juked you out. What most likely happened was:
a.) it was a bug, which is a honest mistake and not intentional
b.) human error and you actually did get a chest but mistook it for a daily/meta chest
If this is a bug, then it’s certainly a rare one bcause I rarely see it here. And even if it is a bug, you need to understand that stuff like this happens in games. Go contact CS and see if they can look at the logs and possibly reward you some.
If they deny you from getting you rewards? Then sure, get mad as kitten! I’d be there with you.
But getting mad beforehand really serves you no purpose and just perpetuates why individuals employed in CS hate their jobs.
One of the things I really thought was going to be interesting about gw2 was the ability to play in the market and potentially make investment to benefit yourself if you payed attention to market trends. To an extent you can do this with items you sell in the tp something comes along drastically increasing the demand for an item due to a new recipe or a nerf to the drop rate of something. The thing I don’t get is why we can’t play the gold to gem conversion in the same way. Initial conversation about the game and even several guides even states that we would be able to play the market on conversion and buy low/sell high ect. But if we look at gold to gems right now you can see thakittens about 3g50s to buy 100 gems, yet to sell back the same 100 gems only gets you about 2g60s . Now gems haven’t been available for that price in well over 4 months… I know there is some top secret supply and demand formula that they use but to me this does not make sense that there is such a large disparity between the two. It took a very interesting aspect of the game and completely negated it.
It’s a tax. A fee.
It’s meant to discourage people from quickly flipping and buying and selling gems.
Just imagine if the TP had no tax on buying/selling gems. The profits on just playing off the fluctuations of the gem trade awould be immense considering the speed that prices fluctuate.
And just consider the destruction it would cause for the economy, as well as Anet’s own profits? I don’t wanna go there.
I’m very certain about these DR theories:
-DR is based on a certain # of kills of the same mob type
-DR is account bound
-DR affects the drop rate of exotics, rares and greens. They also affect certain items, like Heavy Moldy Bags (this wasn’t the case until about 4-5 months ago)
-DR does not affect the drop rate of blue/white items
-DR is a gradual diminishing return. It’s not an instantly diminished drop rate.
These are my unconfirmed and personal observations on DR theories
-DR reset might be based on a 24 hour reset
-DR reset might be based on killing other mob types based on # of kills
i.e. If I kill 200 risen mobs, I will get hit by DR. To reset it, I could try going to FSG and killing 100 icebroods, and this may reset it. Or I could just wait for 24 hours.
sourc: +2k hours farming
I completed the Monthly last night at the same time I finally beat that evil gauntlet.
I did NOT receive Karma jugs, Laurels, or any other form of reward.Honestly trying to stay calm but really…WTF.
Dude if you get angry over something like this you need to reassess why you play a game.
You think Anet intentionally ripped you off?
It’s confirmed to drop from gilded strong boxes (i.e. icebroods)

Alright OP
How about you make some suggestions rather than just complain on the current system?
I pugged all 4 paths of Arah once. I came out alive O_O
it’s people like you who deserve a Legendary :P
We’ve had similar threads to this, use the search function.
We’ve had like 3 dozen since 1-2 months ago..
Chat doesn’t get suppressed unless you are spamming a ton of the same message.
So you were probably spamming “Rally here please”
and then when no one came you kept spamming it. It can be easily overlooked in the heat of the moment.
if by “spamming a ton” you mean “2 similar messages” then you are correct.
It’s not only that.
I think the spam filter takes into consideration your previous X messages.
For example, it keeps a log of your last 10 chat messages. If any of those previous 10 are of the same nature, you will get suppressed.
Even if they are, say, 1 hour apart.

Hello!
Until I dropped Entropy I didn’t know that there were new skins. I checked on the website and they appeared in the new patch apparently. I thought “Great, I just dropped one!” then I checked the price on the TP. One. Hundred. Thirty. gold! Hey I didn’t think twice and put it on the TP and it sold within the hour. The skin will drop in price in the next few days. It’s a permanent addition so people will find this again and again, it’s a bit like Final Rest that was 80-100g when first dropped. I’ve played on the TP, so I’ve already gotten that kind of money several times.
Now you think “great man, gz, happy for you, enjoy the money, stop showing off on the forum”. Well thanks, but that’s not why I create this topic.
I want to know what comes to mind of people that buy it. How come those guys spend 130g on this kind of items, especially since the biggest farm spot (CoF1) has been nerfed. Farmers can’t make that amount in a short amount of time like they used to with CoF. So why spend so much? And I’m not even talking about Genesis that was, last I checked, 300g! These items are new so the price can only drop! I’m not saying the price should be like 2g like all other exotics given the specialy of the skin, but more in the range of 10-30g. So what makes people spend so much on a random drop?
People like having exclusive skins. Right now those skins are exclusive since the patch isn’t a week old, and it only comes from certain mobs.
Also, there is a lot of disposable income to go around, especially when you are maxed out on legendaries/armors.
