1500+ hours of PvE and I have had exactly ONE exotic drop from a mob. Yea… That’s broken, brother.

Honestly it was okay to nerf a few events in cs but now its like we are being forced to farm dungeons. And we all know a cof path 1 will get changed soon and thats when ppl will be annoyed. They should leave the events and focus on changing the recipes of mats and such because no one will be converting tier 5 mats to tier 6 with dust selling so high. love guild wars 2 but worried about some of the changes anet has done lately.

I don’t even like Cof1 farm, but if they nerf that and keep Cursed Shore as it is, I can see a lot of people quitting this game. I’ve enjoyed this game up to this point, even so much as to spending up to $800 on this game. But I haven’t spent anything since December, since I’m not too happy about the direction they are taking against farmers.

These changes to Orr are just mind-boggling insane that I think it has to be a bug or oversight. Because there is no way Arenanet can design a system like it is after the patch and expect players to have fun with it.

I can understand nerfing the grub farm. It wasn’t an exploit but it was too rewarding.

But what do you expect when players realize that the Veteran Spider Hatchlings @ shelt take forever to kill yet do not grant exp or loot at all? And that there are so many that spawn that even a zerg of 10 will wipe?

No one will ever stay in Cursed Shore and do events there because there is no reward. Not even the temples. I don’t know where you expect these players who find the comfort to grind events (like me) to go.

I’m a farmer, but I despise Cof1. What you’re pretty much leading me to go do is Cof1 farm. And I’m not sure if Anet wants that. Even fractals or other dungeons are just not rewarding for me time. If people want to farm (no exploits), then let them. There’s nothing wrong with it.

Arenanet even has yet to acknowledge the problem with Risen Nobles, which have been around since February and halt any progression when it comes to Balthazar and Arah temples. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if the devs wanted to make something so unrealistically hard that you have to ‘exploit’ to complete it.

Remember this problem has been around since February. Don’t expect a sudden fix.

Cursed Shore isn’t a viable farm point right now due to the patch.

Your next step is to grind all the gold you will need to pay for the rest (which probably amounts to 1kg). Go run cof1 farm now since it’s the only alternative at the moment.

By no means should you gamble on the forge

This change has been here since February I believe. It’s the Risen Nobles which are the problem.

GW2 is pretty much the MMO for me. I dedicated 4 months to aion, and 4 month to Rift. Haven’t got bored yet with GW2, though with the nerfs to Cursed Shore I’m getting a bit worried.

Whether you like it or not, there will always be grind in any MMO.

You can take the most interesting, best MMO out there with a wide variety of activities and there will still be people out there who will find the most rewarding and efficient activity out there.

Not to mention it is extremely impossible to construct content that is new and interesting for the life-time of a game.

Regretting selling my inventory of scales at 13s..a meager 2s profit from what I bought them at..

Before this patch, veteran spiders upon death would spawn 5 normal spider hatchlings. These would give loot.

After the patch, these hatchlings are now upgraded to veteran status with a big boost in HP and damage. But they do not give exp upon death, nor loot! Not to mention it can take a considerable amount of time clearing all those hatchlings only to get rewarded with nothing.

Is this intended or is this a way to nerf shelt/pen farm?

I wouldn’t mind the changes with veteran spiders and their hatchlings…if only they included loot.

What happened with this? Is this intentional or not?

It’s ridiculous to have to spend 2 minutes clearing all those veteran spiders yet not even get rewarded with exp or loot

Every company that tells you ‘customer first’ is a lie.

It’s money first. There is a reason why they are a corporation and in business.

The important thing is to balance making money and providing suitable services/products.

And I think Arenanet has done a good job at balancing that.

Or decals, if you want to call it that.

Basically it’s a pattern that you can apply to your armors/cloths that ‘pulse’. I’m thinking of the armor from Crysis where you have redlines pulsing across your suit.

So if you have a character with full black armor and Twilight equipped, he might want to get a legendary decal that applies a pulsing red pattern across his armor.

Of course, there are problems with the decals overriding the current armor patterns you are wearing…

I believe this was discussed by Colin at some point awhile back, along with legendary armors. It was a consideration, but I don’t think anything was planned.

Ecto is an unofficial currency since it’s supply and demand is high. The price has dropped to a low in the past few months. Not sure if it can get any lower but people may be selling their stockpiles.

T6 is always a good opportunity. I understand your concern about bots, as I had for awhile – but it’s been quite awhile since the last bot ban. There are still bots in the lower lvl zones but it seems they are staying away from the populated end-game zones. I don’t foresee the bots becoming an issue. It seems the game is becoming harder for the bots to profit off of.

SAB skins are also a good opportunity but they are long-term, i.e. +3 months.

Shelt/pen is superior in so many ways.

CoF farm is good for silver drops and whatever rares/exotics you get on the way

But shelt/pen is nice due to the mob density, loot bags and stress-free farm, not to mention it’s entirely possible to have zero downtime through guesting.

The CoF crowd seems to be all about efficiency and time. If you don’t have the right gear, you’re kicked. If you’re not the right class, you’re not considered. If you need to afk or are slow, you’re kicked. I’m not up for hours of CoF farm with no breaks inbetween. It’s not fun and more of a chore.

If you want to control the lodestone market, you have to control the core market too. So pretty much double your investment costs.

And of course, there will be a point where you will get constantly undercut and no one will pay your exuberant price.

There is a reason why lodestones have been stuck in the 3-4g range for the past several months.

Well you have to consider the tax. I can’t remember what it was – 20s? 80s?

You’d have to wait a long time for it to rise that high – and if it does, you lose on opportunity cost

if you’re tired of cof, you can still make about 20g in about 5 hours. Farm shelt/pen for abour 2 hours and then once reset comes, farm chests from guesting

There’s nothing wrong with the rate. There is someone out there willing to spend more for gems than you do. I don’t think that’s wrong with that and if you don’t like it, then toughluck.

The higher the rate, the more gold for the seller and the more sales for Arenanet. Of course the buyer ‘loses’ out but if you really wanted the item you could just buy it for gems.

This is disappointing news. I’m not entirely sure why you need to cater to EU players when NA players make up the majority when it comes to NA servers.

Sure, if you want to do this change for the EU servers- that’s fine.

But to impose this time on NA servers is ridiculous.

You can farm more than 1g in the time it takes to come up with 100k karma.

I would suggest playing a magic find warrior as you would get way more “Tags” and mobility/speed

Warrior is the worst class for tagging – I’ve tried it.

The best weapons are dual axe and greatsword. Greatsword is a stationary weapon. Axe is good but little to no range.

The best classes I hear are guard, engi and necro. I use guardian because of the great staff/gs combo. I don’t find any other class with the aoe spam, mobility and survivability for tagging.

30 exotic drops in 3 months is lucky? I don’t know about you but that’s a pretty big sample size considering the reports I read of other’s drop rates.

I have gotten 3 exotics in 1 hour – THAT is lucky.

It’s anecdotal evidence and doesn’t indicate anything other than you got lucky because when comparing your results to others there are many more variables than % MF / no MF.

For example if player A attacks single targets and occasionally catches 2-3 at once while player B uses AOE attacks to kill 6-10 enemies at a time, player B has many more chances for loot and over time will probably collect more loot than player A.

If you want to truly test the results, you need to organize several groups of three players each. The groups would consist of identical classes using the same equipment, weapons and skills, with the only difference being 0%/100%/200% magic find. The groups travel together and attack the same enemies, and track the loot that drops for each player over a period of several months. Then compare each group’s drops and average all the groups to find something resembling the typical results for different MF levels.

“I got lots of loot, this guy didn’t” doesn’t indicate anything beyond the statement itself.

Fair enough, but then if we’re going to use that kind of rationale then it’s only fair to say that we don’t know if MF gear works or doesn’t work. It’s not fair to be one-sided to that people will just say “MF gear doesn’t work at all”

I would wager that Karma is a dead currency. My reasoning is based on the notion that they cannot control how much of it is produced per person. Guild Commendations and Laurels are very tightly controlled. They know how much one person can earn per month. Can’t do that with Karma.

No one is arguing that MF flat out does not work. It isn’t a dummy stat that has no affect at all. The problem here is that luck is not evenly distributed to everyone. Some people will live the high life, while the rest of us squirm for rares. It’s arrogant to expect the same results for everyone.

It’s because of player habits.

If you had two players both farming in shelt/pen for 1 hour with full Mf, they would have the same rate.

If you had two players farming, one in shelt/pen and another in FSG, then obviously the latter will have poor drops. That’s because kill rate/h is lower.

The two important considerations when it comes to MF gear:
1.) Kill/rate per hour – Lots of people do shelt/pen, and so your kill/rate per hour is high. Mobs die quickly. Events spawn quickly. Compare that with a guy who wears MF gear solo’ing sparks for lodestones – their drop rate isn’t high because it takes longer to kill mobs
2.) DR – Once you hit DR, you are screwed. This is why I don’t buy MF boosters – it’s very easy and quick to hit DR in that it will negate your MF gear.

Farming mobs in open world doesn’t give you anything of real value not to mention the speed at which you kill those mobs is vastly decreased due to having the mf stats nerfing your dps which negates your mf in the first place.

MF does not apply to chests of any type and the real valuable items comes in chests.

Yes, wearing MF gear is not beneficial in dungeons, or in open world where you are killing mobs one at a time.

But absolutely, MF gear is beneficial when you are with many others and the mobs easily die in under 3 seconds.

I’ve been running near full MF since I got to 80 and started farming there in November. I’ve started tracking exotic drops rate since January. My count, at the end of mid March was +30 exotics. Since then I’ve had 10 more exotics drop.

I think you are overestimating the # of people here who splurge on the gem store.

I will say that magic find absolutely works and I have a whole album of exotic drop screenshots to prove it. I posted about a month back all my exotics I got since January. I had about 35 or so from drops alone. Since that post I’ve had close to 10 more.

I like Orr a lot because the map is very detailed and lives up to the lore.

People seem to forget that the whole island of Orr was underwater. It’s nice seeing all the seaweed and other underwater organisms that show that it was recently brought up

It’s a no brainer for me.

I get about 18g per day so I can pay this off in a day and a half.

I will be performing a test on this just to see the difference in drops over the next few days. Each day I will be farming 1(the same one each day) of my honey holes first farming naked then next day naked with Omnomberry bars(30%MF) next day with my MF gear(103MF no bars) then the next day with my MF gear(103MF and bars) next day with my Zerker set(no MF) then the next day with my Zerker set(+bars) to see what I get, this will be done for 1 hour each day documenting my drops for each day and I will post my results if interested. I’m doing it this way due to the DR on farming.

You can’t possibly considering a few days a large enough sample size, let alone fail to consider DR.
