Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
but does your axe spout out lava?
Exactly
Looks like a pay to win item. On the other hand it costs 22.3 gold worth of gems. You could buy 557 orichalcum picks for that.
And if a new ore better than ori comes out it will be obsolete.
Oh please, it’s a convenience item. I don’t see anyone else getting rich off of the traditional pickaxes.
Racial skills are easy to replace. Story is so poorly integrated into the characters that it won’t matter too much. It’s the racial armor that’s the problem. Mothers wouldn’t care how you look – they’ll accept you for who you are (or want to be). XD
Maybe think from a programming perspective rather than a player perspective and you’ll understand why it’s impossible
What the item in question says is:
Recovered from the Shiverpeaks, this dredge tool has unlimted charges and the same efficiency as an Orichalcum Mining Pick. Available for a limited time only.
Account Bound
Soulbound on UseThat is exactly what is says in the store, and I would say that it makes it quite clear that it will:
1: Work forever
2: Only buy ble for a limited time
3: Is accout bound
4: Will get Soulbound when equipped.I really don’t see what is unclear.
Maybe you are right but still You are filling the blanks for your mind. It says “it’s available for a limited time”. Available for what?
I’m just saying it’s not a quite clear tooltip.
ie: gobling banker. It has unlimited use but also limited time use.
I hope i made my point.
Oh comon, you know exactly what ‘available for a limited time is’
Now you’re just picking on Arenanet for the sake of it.
I’d guess it’s limited since it’s molten themed
Anything that is themed is just here temporarily.
Arenanet hasn’t said anything about changing those skins, and if they did, the precursor wouldn’t be so cheap. But I think it’s obvious that they are going to upgrade these legendaries considering they did the other half back in February. I have a good feeling we’ll get it done before September.
It also has a fantastic animation when mining and makes picking up copper with 80th level characters completely guilt-free. Zero harvesting overhead.
3 of my character have them already and I expect to buy several more.
haha I thought I was the only one. I never liked wasting gathering tools on lower lvl nodes even though the loss is probably a few copper
You are right that the gold to gem transfers are not their main goal, but the cash cost is also high for an in-game item.
So what if it’s high? It’s not a required item, and you have a perfectly reasonable and cheaper alternative in game. The only people who will buy this are those who want convenience. And it’s not exactly convenient when you spend the time putting it in the bank and then equipping your alt each time.
Seriously, first people moan about high-demand items that can only be acquired through RNG.
Well now they give you something that is guaranteed (imagine the kittenstorm if this was included in BLTC chests?)
Yet we still have complaints.
Next we’re gonna have complaints that this 800-gem pick-axe doesn’t give you extra chances at mats.
Would agree almost, why oh why is it soulbound? 800 gems per char if you want to have set :/
why in the world would they want it to be account bound? They’d make more money this way.
Also, you’re gonna go through all the trouble to put it in the bank and switch chars? Unless you’re a mining bot it’s not worth the hassle.
Anet is genius. I hope they look at the sales data and show that people are willing to pay lots for guaranteed items
Next up:
-perma logging axe
-perma mf booster (5000 gems)
-perma BL salvage kit (5000 gems)
I suggest you go for Storm instead. It’s only 50g more and the Meteorologicus skin right now looks OK. If they make any further changes it’s value will skyrocket.
Before the March patch we saw the buy orders go up to 200g (and the sell orders were 250-280). So right now we know the price is underpriced since there are buyers willing to pay more.
And unlike the torch precursor, many classes can actually use the sceptre (guards, eles and necros all use it reasonably)
disclaimer: I have two Storms in my bank and looking to buy a 3rd. April patch is soon and the price will go up shortly.

It’s for the unlimited use pickaxes
Sometimes periods are considered ‘serious’ conversation or give off a bit of an attitude. I can see why it can be misconstrued in that sort of way in MMOs or any other type of online interaction.
It’s like getting a text from your gf and she says “I’m not mad.”
Then you know she’ mad.
We don’t know. I’ve thrown about 30 combines with exotics and forge stone and have come up with nothing – small sample size, take it if you want.
Some people with a lot of money can get very bored. They probably think Guild Wars 2 is like PAC MAN; trying to get the Gold high score. It’s normal for people to take more risks when they have more capital.
Changing the price of an item from 100 to 500 doesn’t mean the market will accept it. If it doesn’t; the investor gets a nice hair cut.
As a rich player I don’t mind overpaying stuff when I want it. I don’t mind buying 200 charged lodestones if it costs me 300g instead of 250g.
But a 400g mark-up on something as useless as a minipet (that no one will actually see) is not going to happen.
Taking out a little frustration; wish we could take out the forge with siege
She’s just doing her job ;( Pick on zomoros ;/
Ask yourself who in their right mind would pay that much for a minipet?
the final boss in AC, detha chain, dunno what path.
But its the ‘ghost busters’ one.
I’ve thrown away at least 600g.
Then again I have 3 legendaries and got a dusk off as a drop, so I’m not depressed.
I believe Colin or some of the other senior devs have already stated that no dragons will be involved in the current Living Story, so I don’t see him being a part of it during this last phase.
Could it lead to another Living Story chapter where we get to fight a dragon? I believe so.
Just undercut by 10-20g to entice potential buyers to buy yours. If you only undercut by 1c buyers may be less inclined to buy yours since it’s not a good deal.
At 864 rares (38 exo back) and 1608 exotics, no precursor yet. To quote Obi-Wan: “In my experience, there’s no such thing as luck”.
1608 exotics? ok buddy
If you are going to speculate super weapons, speculate on the smart skins. I think the staff is probably more valuable than the greatsword considering the poor alternative skins for staffs. Shield is also a great choice.
I put in buy orders for 3 gs, 2 staff and 2 shields
No…you can buy gem cards but I don’t think that is addressing your problem.
there is an easy way to get skill points: make a new alt and simply run around getting all the SP on the map (202 of them). You’ll probably need to get to level 60 or so by the end (which just gives you more). it takes maybe 10 hours? iuno. I did it part time over a week. if it does take 10 hours, thats 20 per hour, and if they are worth 20s each, that’s 4g per hour. comparable to most other forms of income. and if you were going to level that alt anyways…
Not all the skillpoints are communal and you actually need to fight mobs. You won’t be able to level fast enough to keep up with the mobs in higher level maps.
1700 hours and I’ve probably had 5 keys drop. It’s completely random and is just behind precursors in terms of rarity.
That said, if you are really desperate for keys, just make another character and level to 10…
i bet that way is in the vicinity to get nerfed by anet or in the worst case scenario DELETED
True, though it’s been around since release and well known. I’m surprised they have kept it in the game considering how they removed the Captain’s Commendations.
Racial jokes.
Lame.
If it were up to me I would advocate for quaggan genocide. They are pretty useless and if that makes me a quaggist, so be it.
If you guys checked periodically you would notice that each and every big patch adds little things. The Inlet waypoint has portals being built and more structures.
WvW is not a money sink unless you are a commander or you waste siege.
I guess you have never done an upgrade then.
Upgrades can’t be done by everyone. They are done by one person at a time. So it’s not really a money sink since it doesn’t take out enough gold in the economy for everyone.
Repair bills, waypoint costs – those are true money sinks.
I have wondered why the Quaggan aren’t extinct. They can’t fend for themselves and they are being culled by krait every single day.
It’s called small sample size. And only 77 attempts is a ridiculously small. I’ve done over 300 clover combines and that still is too small a sample size.
1700 hours and I’ve probably had 5 keys drop. It’s completely random and is just behind precursors in terms of rarity.

No, you are still missing the point. Runes/sigils within the gear are irrelevant in the equation. The rarity of the item (white, blue, green, gold, orange) those are the only thing that matters in the process. You cannot however get an item better than exotic quality from the mystic forge.
That’s certainly fine that you say it’s irrelevant, I’m actually thinking it shouldn’t be. Which is why i brought it up.
It’s not worth the time to program such a feature since I can’t see why the majority of people using the MF would be all up in arms. Not to mention the complexity in programming such a feature
I can safely say this is the first I’ve seen someone request such a feature.
-what if you put in four different weapons with four different sigils?
-four different weapons with same sigils?
-four different sigils with four different weapons?
-And of course, then you have the problem with precursors. What if you wanted Dawn, which has the Rage sigil? Do you have to put in four greatswords with 4 rage sigils?
As you can see, it’s complicated and not worth the time fretting.
well i was hoping for a quick yes or no maybe with examples kind of thing .
i didn’t like the fact side quests had no depth it seemed they were there just to give u xp and thats itno story no nothing . and it was tedious to lvl until i reached the required lvl to do personal story quests. (i didnt have this issue in wow) wvw i liked it a bit but im more of a pve guy
i did a few dungeos but not sure what are the rewards for doing it or why do people them ? is it items ? better then what u can buy or ?
I agree about the story thing. I remember how they said that if you had a quest, it would be linked to another areas of the map and you could see your actions make a difference elsewhere. And while there are cases where this is true, it’s not inherently obvious and sometimes it takes awhile to see the repercussions.
There really is no reward for dungeons other than it serving as another way to get gear. You could spend all you time doing open world stuff or WvW and not do a dungeon, and still end up with max gear. Of course, there are skins that you can only get from dungeons, but they are just skins – novelty.
Whats the deal with people quitting the game coming back and asking other people for changes ? Is it that hard to check they update
I don’t understand it, either. The only person who can convince a person whether or not they like the game is themselves.
Well some games are just plain boring and you don’t feel compelled to play through them.
I have purchased numerous games through the Steam sale but I just haven’t got to the point of advancing on them since they start off so boring.
the STALKER series is one example, I played for like 5 minutes and immediately disliked it. Same with Fallout3.
Hope we see improvement for World vs World, if not im not even playing the new content.
I bet you all your gold that you will play
and I bet even if they made these generic ‘improvements’ he speaks of, he still will complain :P. WvW is pretty swell as it is, there are minor things that can be tweaked and improved, but right now the fundamentals are solid.
As usual I hope the other legendaries get buffed. Making a big investment in Storm.
Sorry dude but if you quit within a week and didn’t like the experience then you’ll most likely not enjoy it. Nothing fundamentally has changed – there really isn’t anything groundbreaking you can do in an MMO.
All they have done is polished up the game and added more activities and events to do. For people who have enjoyed the game for launch, they have made great additions and from what I read it’s still popular.
But if you’re not a fan of ‘questing’, leveling, instances and I assume any sort of PvP/WvW, then you probably aren’t fit for GW2, let alone any MMO.
Yeah I remember the lighthouse getting destroyed in that cutscene with the karka invasion. Only last month did I check the same area and found the place totally different.
It would be awesome to see some of the more frequented areas to change.
I.e.
Let’s say a bunch of Consortium terrorists decided to sabotage the BLTC and caused the trading post in L.A. to blow up. It forces everyone to go to a new (and convenient location), perhaps next to the bank.
And in it’s place, a new guild hall is built!
With all the different currency and the rewards that go w/GW2, gold itself should be far more easy to attain. I find It very annoying to always have gold ingame on the mind.
The grind in this game for anything gold related is beginning to be game breaking for myself and really not worth my time. Yes I could do cof speed runs, or run around farming nodes, playing the market, but those are not activities I find I want to waste my time doing in a activity that is suppose to be FUN.This when X player comes in and says “well you don’t NEED to get those items that cost a ton of gold to craft or buy.” That’s when I say, well what the hell is their to do in this game otherwise for end game? FOTM28-48 run hundreds of times, run around in zergs in WvW on the same maps for no rewards for half a year, been there done that. If I wanted to have money on my mind more often I would quit my RL job.
B2P model has very clearly defined itself when it comes to GW2, not sure if I would go for that again, much rather have a sub then EVERYTHING ingame revolve around gemstore.
So what’s the alternative? Log-in and be awarded a full zerker gear and a legendary of your choice, then quit?
I don’t know about you guys, but whenever there is a currency/item out there that has a fixed rate of acquisition, I’m not sure if I would be willing to spend it so willingly.
Stuff like karma, skill points, laurels – that kind of stuff is hard to come by on a fly.
Let’s say that they come out in 2 months a whole set of items that can be purchased with those three. Well, now that you wasted all that currency, you’re gonna have to start all over again.
21s per skill point seems like a lot, but when you look at how long it takes to get a skill point, it’s a pretty inefficient way of making money.
600 skill points takes a LONG time to get. At current rates, that’s only 126g.
126G can be easily earned by a hardcore farmer in a week. I get that in about 2 weeks. Casuals, 1-2 months.
Prestige, bragging rights – down the road they will be on par with Ascended gear so if you’re into min/max, it’s required.
When I see someone equip a legendary, , I can safely say that for the most part you know your class, the game and some mechanics since you invested all that time to acquire one.
Shelt/pen is your best bet. It’s also great when you guest on two other servers during downtime.
There is also a super awesome farming spot that only two servers know about but I don’t exactly want to reveal it here incase some devs are looking to nerf it. And having too many people farm that spot isn’t exactly beneficial ;3
We have asked this question many times but unfortunately have not received a concrete reply.
That’s why I haven’t decided to transmute yet. Though I’m not a min/max player so it’s not exactly urgent.
Have you ever thought that perhaps you are in the bottom % of the bell curve and things are so expensive for you because, well, you don’t want or know how to make gold?
Besides, this is why they hired an economist – to take a look at the current state of the economy. If inflation goes too high, they can easily add in more gold sinks in the game, such as more armor/weapon pieces akin to cultrual sets.
It’s very complicated to explain, but I’ll try – the gist of it is that it would cause problems with the gold/gem conversion rate and would most likely depress the gold value of gems.
It could possibly mess up the demand for gems bought with gold since there would be plenty of items which are high in demand (boosters) compared with those that are low in demand (minipets, hair change). Each of these items would have different demand/supply quantities.
You could potentially end up with different gold per gem rates for each item which would lower the gold/gem price.
Only reason I ever go to Cursed shores now is to farm a little orichulum, and spend about 20-30 minutes farming the events in the tunnels. On my server (Yaks bend) there are no temple events anymore as no one does them, 80% of the zone is covered in the stupid auras. Anchorage way point has never been open now since the Feb patch. The annoyance factor far out weighs the fun/reward factor of cursed shore
I’m on Yaks and part of the reason no one did any temples was because for the past few weeks, penitent camp was bugged making it a highly lucrative place to farm. No one will want to group up to do temples because it’s just not worth the time.
Cursed Shore is the best place to farm (aside from Cof1). Shelt/pen is still good, especially when you guest on other servers so that you have no downtime. There is also the handy new farm spot that only two servers seem to know about ;3
what happens to the TP when everybody has all they need for their characters?
Define ‘need’
Need as in BIS items? Most players already have BIS items. After you have BIS, you will most likely strive to get skins as well as separate gear combinations. I run a guardian and after I got my initial all-around build set, I went for a pure MF set, pure vit set and a healing/tough set.
But moving forward, skins will be a huge part of the game since that’s the whole premise of gear in GW2.
Not to mention you can get gear up all your alts.
Right, but so far the current trend for skins is via tokens or the gem store, essentially leaving the TP out of the loop.
Currently my guardian has 4 sets of armor. I haven’t bought anything on the TP for it for a good 2 months.
I can see alts, but even that is eventually finite.
“so far”
I’m confident that our resident economist keeps track of these things and has contingency plans for anything that needs to be adjusting.
For example, if he sees inflation is going up, I’m sure he has plans for how to handle that, including suggestions to include more armors/skins in game that can be purchased from a vendor, similar to cultural armor.
On another note that I ignored – there will always be a demand for craftable items due to the mystic forge and chasing precursors.
Used to be way worst than it’s now. I remember not being able to walk two steps without being pulled over 7 times in a row…
Yeah, getting chain pulled like a pinball machine by three purifiers was at first hilarious but quickly grew annoying.
Every now and then though, I love getting pulled by spiders at shelt and because of the terrain, they somehow launch me vertically in the air.
