Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
I rarely use combo fields since the effects they provide are very short. Some effects last for 5 seconds but feel like they’re only up for 3 seconds.
However, I’m sure the SPvP crowd uses combos to a large degree.
If you hate the Orr of today, then I wonder what you must have felt about the Orr before the February patch.
As a world first Meteorlogicus,
I am so happy that you mentioned that.
While we are talking about effects on legendaries, pls don’t change anything about the shield.
the shield needs a fix in terms of guardian aegis, but yeah I think I would love some trails on FSP
it’s to save space.
I do this actually to do the mystic forge daily of 5 combines. I find all three of those boosters useless so it’s pretty much a free combine.
Necro’d a 6 month old thread
Farm meta events on your home server and on guest servers. You should be able to get all dragon and meta events within 3 hours by doing this.
Also do all 5 temples when you get a chance. Melandru, Lyssa and Dwayna are usually easy to get people to do it with you.
Or farm shelt/pen…or the new secret farm spot that few people are doing
Interesting, what’s wrong with it? It’s a game, the goal of anet was in fact to enjoy the game, but look at this forum section alone. How many posts are about the money? Or how screwy the economy is? Is it anets goal to have a community of poor players? Sure seems that way.
I’ll give you an excellent example too, the borderland series. Not once did i ever worry about revive costs, i always had money and could simply play the game and not even worry for one second about what it’s going to cost me to die. If i WvW and don’t make up my repair costs, that’s an issue. One super basic thing that would help is increase vendor return, more silver per item would float the population without touching costs of WP’s, repairs, consumables, etc. It might even make crafting a little less hard hitting to the wallet.
Again, it’s a game, to use all these analogies to real life economics and social classes just shouldn’t be the case. I can quite a game, quitting life on the other hand isn’t really an option.
Borderlands is not an MMO, it’s as simple as that. They don’t need to worry about the economy in that game.
Yet another conspiracy thread – how come people don’t post when they get on a lucky streak for globs of successful forge attempts?
Oresh – it’s called small sample size.
if they allowed this it would be too easy to make infused gear.
There has to be a time sink.
So if they do make a change like this, I would recommend a increase in mats required to upgrade.
While i completely agree with you, there is a pretty big disparity between the wealthy and the poor. The game really doesn’t have solid ways to earn a living, so to speak, which is why there are complaints on the costs (ectos are pretty crazy right now). There are an extreme amount of money sinks in the game (crafting, waypoint costs, repairs, consumables, etc) that the average and in many cases “hard working” players really never break the 100g barrier, many not even the 40g one. 100g in this game is measly pittance really when you take in the account of what it cost to play the game and acquire the goods you want to keep you playing. Instead of a gear treadmill, most players carrot on a string is entirely based on RNG, which in my opinion is a million times worse than running some uber elite dungeon for better gear, over and over. There are a lot of complaints on this, yet Anet continues to add more and people keep buying gems, which basically says, it’s ok to do it this way. I too buy gems, because i do support the game, but not as much because i agree with certain aspects of how it’s dished out. But, i can tell you i won’t do it for long.
So what do you recommend – all players, casual or hardcore deserve a fixed g/h?
No matter what Arenanet does…hardcore people will always come out on top, as it should be. That’s just the nature of games.
Punishment? What a total misuse of the word. They are making it FAIR. You yourself admit it was farmable and that people took advantage of it. Well Arenanet did the most reasonable thing and increased the timer. You only feel ‘punished’ because you feel that you are entitled to 1-3 rares every 30 minutes.
Regarding Jormag, it’s not Arenanet’s fault that you do not know how to do the metaevent You are discouraged from hitting the dragon on the 2nd phase while his ice shield is up. They do this by applying dots on you. If you die from it, it’s your own fault. They want you to defend the golems and destroy the icicles like the event was designed to be.
And if you leave the game just cause they ‘nerfed’ a massively farmable meta event, or because you don’t want to properly do an event then all the power to you. Arenanet can’t do anything to satisfy you.
Dude, if you’re gonna do the monthly in 3 days you’re a hardcore player.
If they make it so that a hardcore player takes 15 days to complete a monthly, then it’s just unfair to the casual.
i put up an item for 7 gold 75 silvers and had to pay a tax of 38 silvers 75 coppers to post it, fine… i got back 6 gold 97 silvers and 50 coppers what happened to the remaining 77.5 silvers? seems a little unfair that i gotta pay a tax on whatever i post, and not get the full amount of what i posted, especially when im trying to get money to buy black lion keys so i can get a fused weapon ticket that i spent over 100 gold to get and i keep getting useless items like tonics from the stupid black lion chests. is there another way to get the fused weapon tickets other than a small fraction of a chance from a black lion chest?
The gold is destroyed and removed from the economy. It’s meant to combat inflation.
There is a similar thread already..
I’m sure they are working on improving legendary skins. They admitted awhile back that the game was released with some legendary effects missing (you wouldn’t want to hold back the game just cause some legendaries are lacking).
The february patch showed numerous improvements and I’m sure they are currently working on the rest.
Why should people who have not touched the game in 2 months be punished?
I don’t think you have thought this through.
Overflow servers are shared by all players in GW2.
If Yaks Bend is full, as well as Sea of Sorrows, then both players will join that server. And if 15 minutes later Dragonbrand becomes full, then players from DB will go to that server.
So then how should an event be ‘auto-spawned’
It’s impossible.
Windowed fullscreen mode – simple
Before anyone else here starts chucking in rares just cause this guy won it – for every successful forge there are probably thousands of failures.
Just like in casinos, the winnings for the few are paid for by the failures of the many
so since the last patch the price of dust (T5 and T6) isn’t rising anymore, also the supply is increasing. i didn’t find anything in the patch notes that could have caused that, so what happened? how did the latest patch trigger that change?
Speculators sell their inventory. Happens after every patch. I do it sometimes.
I’m a GW2 fanboy, but please why you gotta be so biased?
Studio =/= publisher
If you only have 4g to your name I really suggest you go out and do events, dragon/temple meta’s so that you build up enough capital to invest.
You really can’t do anything with 4G. The profit margins off a 4G investment are so miniscule that you’re better off actually playing the game.
Get about 50-100g and then you will be able to start flipping the TP and making it easier to absorb any losses (you will have them)
I agree. This is one of my least favorite aspects of the game. It feels “wrong”. I defend Anet on a whole lot of points, but how they offer RNG stuff, particularly stuff that’s account/character bound is just terrible.
because it sells
I know it sells. That doesn’t make it right. It’s a bad look for the company, in my opinion. They’ve done so much else right, that just makes me quite annoyed. I don’t love the RNG in game either, as with precursors (even though one dropped for me), but in game I have more trouble complaining about it. RNG for cash rubs me the wrong way.
Is it bad for a company to want to make a profit? That’s business whether you like it or not. GW2 does not have a subscription model so it needs a way to generate multiple purchases from it’s customers.

You completely forget about gold to gem trade…
OK seriously, I’m a big fan of SAB too, but how about you wait until the nostalgia and initial excitement goes away.
Do you really expect SAB to be fun on your 5th, 6th playthrough?
After you have all your BB’s to afford the skins? After you find all the hidden zones and mazes?
Wait,
Can I get 2 laurels for doing both pve and pvp dailies?
Seriously 250 bubbles for 1 bauble….This is gonna take time
You get BB by doing bosses/stages in the game.
If I recall, a full clear is worth 7 BB.
Don’t bother with the mystic forge. More often than not you lose.
Only gamble on the forge when you can afford to.
Sorry but perhaps you are just not skilled enough for jumping.
That’s why they included infantile mode.
They’re working pretty hard at keeping the greatsword price up. 40 gold vs. 50 Bauble Bubbles? Hopefully it catches up to them and they get a nice financial burn for trying to gate off content from other users to enrich themselves.
It’s pretty easy to get 40 gold. 50 Bauble bubbles take time.
You can never please everyone.
As the title says I’m wondering about that.
If this mini-game replaces the normal general content updates we saw last months.
Thanks.
There will be another release at the end of April on top of this bonus living world release today for Super Adventure Box. Date, features, and content TBD (spoiler: of course we have a Flame & Frost release!)
Will April be the last chapter for Flame & Frost?
Fix it? You’re just bad – learn how to do it
Talk about nitpicking. You’re kitten off that you think the coin is gonna replace a blue/green item?
Did you not see the ‘training’?
You’re not supposed to get commendations for a training mission.
I have Sunrise, Bifrost and FSP, have about 100g now. Spent 150 on the forge two days ago, got nothing.
I have invested in Storm, so that’s about 200g in liquidity
D3 inflation is crazy. GW2 is not.
TP in GW2 is doing it’s job. TP in D3 is not.
It was a bright idea to offer that promotion.
Let’s hope it fixes up those servers and we’ll see better fights
Yeah I think I should sell to the guy who wants to buy a precursor for 40g when someone else wants to pay 700g
Its a supply problem when 600+ g in the forge doesn’t result +1 supply.
you don’t understand how rng works
Oh that argument is tired and nonsensical please move on.
No it’s not. You argued there’s a precursor problem.
When I look at Venom it doesn’t seem like that.
It’s a demand problem.
Case and point:
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29175Please. Look at that. I and multiple others have gambled on this precursor from the toilet but even after hundreds of gold it won’t drop. John is this really what anet wants? I’m being very sincere here, why do you want them to go to these heights? What is it that you accomplish by doing this other than driving away people? I mean really. I give up.
Why not go after his precursor?
If you’re 80, just do shelt/pen…make good money while completing your monthly.
Guest on two other servers when one is down too so you have an endless stream of events.
This is all very disheartening.
I’ve been working on the Bifrost now since October and, I hate to say it, but it’s starting to get to that point where it’s feeling like the biggest grind fest ever. I mean, I need 750 of the dusts for the various gifts, not to mention the 250 unidentified dyes also required for this item.
If I’m reading that graph correctly, since the beginning of the year the price for crystalline dust has increased by ~26 silver a piece, but everything else we do costs more money, or Anet makes it more difficult to reliably obtain resources to trade for other resources.
Is this really what you want, Anet? For people to be scrimping and saving absolutely every little bit they can get just to inch their way closer to a goal?
Six months now, and that’s with my guild sending me what resources they can spare. You say you want people to play the game how they want, but it’s starting to feel like the only way I’m going to be able to achieve this is to go park myself in Orr and grind and grind and grind.
Not funsies
You’re going for Bifrost and complaining? At least you don’t need expensive lodestones.
(edited by Vol.5241)
I guarantee you that if you spend nearly all that gold and you get nothing, you will get depressed and quit the game.
If you wish to gamble, always set a limit and leave yourself enough money to keep playing. In your case, I’d leave 50G alone. Gamble away the 250G.
But I always recommend saving and buying the precursor.
I think it’s fine for Arenanet. They need to generate money somehow. This is the way to do it.
The only thing I’d do differently would be to remove the account bound requirement
I would guess that 4 Superior Runes would generate a random Superior Rune!
Well why would people do that.
People use the forge for hoping to get a better graded item, not to get the same one.
Some runes are better than others… Why can’t I put 4 runes I don’t want into the MF in hopes of getting a rune I can use?
That’s very subjective. Yeah, based on the value, a superior rune of divinity for example is way more valuable than superior rune of the dolyak. But when they design these systems, they don’t take into consideration what is more valuable since it’s subjective.
Technically, all of the runes in their same grade are of equal value.
If you can’t do jumping puzzles then you don’t deserve the rewards.
I guess a ton of people don’t deserve ascended gear and laurels then… gated content INDEED.
Since when have jumping puzzles rewarded ascended gear and laurels?
hell yeah I do, you just gotta think of it from their perspective. As I mentioned, if they cave in and refund gems to you, then how about the guy who bought it 3 days earlier. It’ll set off a chain reaction where the guy who bought a server transfer 2 months ago will complain.
So it’ll save all the grief to just implement a no refund policy, no exceptions.
