The patch change influences the guaranteed RARE YELLOW drops. Ever since the February patch, I have not got an exotic from the chests. But plenty of rares.
You will still be able to loot the chest daily per character per boss. It’s just the guaranteed rare portion will be moved to a separate chest like the daily.

If they increased that, such as increasing the vendor selling prices upwards, you are actually losing purchasing power. So your gold buys less. Lets say your 1G can buy you 3 ectos right now, and they decreased your purchasing power by increasing gold drops/vendor prices. Then those same 3 ectos would cost you way more than 1G since everyone else in the economy has more money.

Whenever there are loot changes, there are always people who come out on top and people who lose out.

With the rising price of globs, those who farm for globs and sell them are better off by having more gold for their items. But those who buy globs for their recipes are worse off since they have less purchasing power. But all in all, the price is low enough to satisfy both the buyers and sellers. It’s not skewered to one side.

I think that’s one of the pre-requisites that John Smith looks at in the economy. Does the item have a good enough price to encourage appropriate velocity (transactions), especially considering Ecto is the unofficial currency in game? And then he also looks at controlling inflation, and which is related to the selling price of an item.

He needs to balance the need to keep game inflation under control while also making the game rewarding for players.

There are many people here who claim to know more than our resident economist, but I think we should all trust the guy who counts this as his job. Not to mention the plethora of data that he has at his disposal to analyze.

To be honest, they announced already that the 26th is the patch for culling and other changes that are already done, I have no idea why not include them on the pre-patch notes so people can see them.

Meanwhile I understand something can get delayed, the subject that they already announced them and nothing is up yet, does not worry me, but something is not right either.

Why does it matter anyway? People keep making this type of thread before each patch. This is how they’ve done patches before. There is no benefit for them to announce something very detailed in advance when something can go horribly wrong and they have to pull back.

Some events, but not all can be reset by luring lots of enemies to an NPC and getting them to wipe.

-Skritt bags are good, but there are simply better gold/hr opportunities out there. Not to mention the mobs are highly spaced out and you are open for killing from enemies
-Again, you are wasting laurels since they are a fixed resouce. By no means should you be using your agents on upgrading t1-t4. Upgrading t5-t6, you’re still losing out, but I can understand.

But upgrading core to lodestone using wine is the smartest use of resources.

Gold can be gained at any rate. Laurels cannot.

You’re going to need a larger sample size than that before you start to worry about DR or what other people here consider ‘stealth nerfs’

So why didn’t ecto prices go up to 50-90s now, but already stopped climbing at 33s?

Because lots of people are cashing out ectos right now, trying to take advantage of the higher price.

I doubt you will see ectos rise above 40s at all. There will be a point where sellers will want to take advantage of higher prices but not enough buyers are willing to shell out the money.

Glided is for people who farm dungeons a lot. You get a lot more silver from the bosses. And gold is not hit by DR

Magical is for people who farm events a lot and wear MF gear all the time. MF absolutely works. The people who tell you otherwise either have hit DR and keep on grinding without resetting, or people who use it outside of events.

I know you’re being helpful but some things here are inefficient.
-It’s ridiculously expensive to promote anything under t5. Cores to Lodestones are perfectly fine, you just need to do the math and see if it’s cheaper
-I would never suggest wasting laurels. They’re not like mystic coins. You only get a fixed amount. Even if you want to waste laurels, it’s probably even better selling the dyes rather than wasting agents.
-You should never farm any materials, whether that be T6 or lodestones. What you should be farming is gold. If you farm a specific item, 99% of the time it’s from mobs that are spaced out. Your kill/drop rate per hour goes way down.

I missed easy profit because I haven’t seen this message before. And I still won’t be able to log on for few hours. Ecto price will go up way too much by then. And then it will slowly start dropping again.

You should have seen the nerf coming. Lots of complaints about lag and overflows. Rares dropping left and right. It was going to come eventually.

And what do those two games have in common? They were both released more than 8 years ago. They had enough time to have these things built.

It’s only game, set, match if the final data is provided that substantiates that the control of ectos is not controlled by a small minority, i.e., 2 guys could have traded 140k of those ectos with the remaining 10k being squabbled over by the 9498.

Stats can be used to prove or disprove anything (often the same thing). It’s all in how you present it. Not saying that’s the case here, but just saying.

How does that new event timer website prevent griefing?

-You can block bad entries (they are logged by a modified IP), so most griefers today won’t be able to grief tomorrow if you flag them yourself
-You can see the times that are marked as good. If there are several, chances are it’s the right time

So from what everyone is saying, to make legendary weapons actually represent a mastery of the game, Arenanet should…

1. Make all legendary weapons account-bound (before and after use so players can move them between their characters).

2. Reduce luck needed for precursor weapons (hopefully, eventually, addressed by the scavenger hunt).

3. Reduce Badges of Honor received from jump puzzles and increase those received from killing other players in WvW.

4. Replace gold requirements with skill requirements (such as guild commendations, laurels, or achievements).

It’s so ridiculously easy to get badges now, especially with the increased loot rate. Friday night resets with roaming zergs give the best badge/hour

The cat tonic isn’t a mini pet. It’s a tonic that presumably will turn you into a cat. Sure, it’s cosmetic and just for fun, but that’s what nice about having a variety of rewards. There’s something for everyone.

Yes, they are novelty, but unlike other minipets, skins, townsclothes are other novelty items, the cat costs laurels, which are fixed and you can only get one per day.

Now imagine they somehow come up with the idea to give out a precursor for 150 laurels – after you buy the cat. Or other newer items from the vendor.
Well, everyone would be po’d.

If the cat cost 100g or 1m karma, I’d definitely buy it since I can get gold/karma whenever I please. Laurels are different. I hope they do convert achievement points to laurels to make them easier to acquire

Putting awesome things on sale just drives up the price of gems.

Few weeks ago character slots were on sale, bank tabs, and extra bag space. As soon as the sale started, gems went up ~20%, making the sales moot unless you’ve already stockpiled gems.

Arenanet makes these sales for people who buy gems with real $, not for those who buy with gold.

I got my tokens for Bifrost back in November. That’s when the Hunter boss was farmable. You got I think 6 tokens and 20-30s every 10 minutes. Insane farming.

I felt bad for everyone else after the patch that fixed it ;/

I got my dusk off one of the mobs during the Jofast escort event in Cursed Shore.

Precursors absolutely drop off of mobs in Cursed Shore. Just don’t go farming and expect one to drop for you. I’ve been playing +1400 hours, most of them in shelt/pen farming and I’ve only got that Dusk.

You are betteroff farming Cursed Shore and buying your precursors. That’s how I ended up with my other two legendaries.

I should also stress that MF absolutely does work and increases you rare/exotic chance

The one thing that can definitely be said about maguuma, is that not in any of the weeks that we fought them did 1 person ever complain about nightcapping. Yak’s folks just don’t seem to understand how wvw works unfortunately.
