Magic find works. http://sinasdf.imgur.com/
I’d pay $30 a month.
Meanwhile, goldsellers have 10+ of each precursor and Kormir knows how many legendaries.
Keep telling us it’s not an issue.
But of course, you can ignore that thread a month ago that showed all of the dusks sold in three days came from unique sellers
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Attention-to-the-price-of-Dusk/page/4
I’ve said it before, if you had the gold for a precursor when they were 90 gold you should have purchased one. Same applied at 600g. Same will apply at 900g. Imo.
On a similar note, I find it humorous when there are people out there who pick on those who bought precursors very cheaply several months ago.
Well back then, that ‘cheap’ price was the market price. For all we know the market price that people pay right now 700g would be considered cheap a few months down the road when they are 900g.
Can’t pick on the people who bought things cheaply because they weren’t cheap at that time.
A few days after release, I remember Dusk was 10g. Does it look cheap now? Hell yeah. But for two days in a game, 10g was A LOT.
Farming in general is not rewarding in this game. I have farmed the sparks in orr for charged cores whenever I need daily kills. Have NEVER gotten
a single charged core. However, running CoE, totally different story. I guess I’m just wondering if there is an event or something that would drop them at a higher rate. Currently I think there’s only like 70 something eyes on the TP.
Yeah just put in buy orders (maybe 10 a day) and you’ll get your Immobulus shortly.
Are you sure you want Immobulus? There’s a similar skin out there which is the Princess Wand which came out in the Wintersday event. Much cheaper.
Might want to consider Eye of Rodgort, it looks cool too. But costs about 500 powerful bloods.
By the way guys, by guaranteed rare, they probably meant rare item quality, not just rares that can be salvaged. So crescents and rare orbs are probably included in this table.
Alright…
Yes there is a chest that gives guaranteed rares. It’s about 3 feet from the giant chest that Rotbeard pops out of.
It’s in the lower galley of the giant ship in the south part of cursed shore.
Tip: don’t open the giant chest in the middle of the room. Rotbeard pops out.
Open the little chest beside it
This ^
This chest is guaranteed at least 1 rare item (earlier I said 2 but more often than not I get >2). The most I got is three. The quantity of items seems to be on the same scale as all the big meta events.
So if you have many alts but no patience to wait for dragons, you farm it.
Doesn’t take awhile to clear the mobs to the chest.
Again, just don’t open the big one (it’s actually a coffin)
I for one am scared for the impending ban for abusing guesting.
Along with pretty much +50% of the active population!
You can’t farm them. Farming for individual items is tedious and extremely inefficient.
They largely come from heavy moldy bags. They very rarely come from mobs. In my +1600 hours here only ONE came from an open-world mob in cursed shore, and that was near release.
Your best bet is to farm gold and then buy the eyes.
Oh, and I originally meant Dusk. Dawn traditionally is cheaper.
No, I’m merely showing the error of your statements.
I’m sorry that I mispoke and it appears Dawn has had that price range for only a month and a half. Big whoop.
Since you’re almost going to hit 80, I think you’re jumping the gun too quick for legendaries.
Max out your gear in ascended/exotics, get some experience in WvW, dungeons, get good skins…
Then when you get the hang out of end-game, you can decide to pursue one. For the average player it’s a long-term goal, so don’t expect to get one right away.
Then
Entitlement again.
Its a skin, you won’t die if you don’t have it.
Its a very long term goal.
Wait for the scavenger hunt.
Quit.
There’s a difference between entitlement and ridiculous. The fact is precursors are ridiculous and the only people who disagree are those who have a legendary(ies) or those who are cornering the precursor market. We’re not asking to be given a precursor, we’re asking for a legit way to EARN one.
And I find it humorous that you would call it a “very long term goal” when that’s only true if you aren’t one of the handful of people who struck gold and got the precursor out of the Forge/as a drop. When someone can get one in a month and it takes someone else 8 months to get one because of the precursor, not due to lack of effort, then it isn’t a long term goal is it?
In Guild Wars 1 I legit had to earn my FoW armor. In Guild Wars 2 if you want a Legendary you need to win the lottery. I don’t understand how you can look at that and say there isn’t a problem with it.
inb4ihavefourlegendariesanditsfine
Or, you know, you can buy the precursor if you don’t want to gamble.
Are we arguing over semantics now?
There’s nothing wrong with dusk/dawn prices. They are driven by supply/demand
Thanks doc.
This is Dawn. Looks legit to me.
What that graph doesn’t show you is that the price is roughly at equilibrium where demand/supply are at a price point that is suitable for both sides.
We know because Dawn has been in the 600-700g price range for a few months now. Of course, with an item that is not considered a commodity, price fluctuations of +-50g are expected.
No, I’m serious.
There’s nothing wrong with dusk/dawn prices. They are driven by supply/demand
If you are only willing to buy my dusk for 30g, but someone out there is willing to pay me 600g, why in the world would I choose to sell to you.
Venom is cheap because no one wants it. Dusk/Dawn is expensive because more people want it. Simple.
Nothing is wrong with precursor prices.
Go look at Venom – quite a reasonable price. Go use that if you don’t like the more expensive ones.
Let’s be realistic
There are tons of bugs that are exploited by players. Go show me a player who has never used the fractal exploit for the giant fractal or even the dredge one.
But they don’t ban those people because it doesn’t materially impact the game.
I’ve been using my n52te gamepad, no problems
Why would you be wearing MF gear in WvW anyways?
Even if they added a bunch of events to that map I’m not sure if I would do them. They really need to change the mobs. The normal mobs there have an insane initial attack that you have to dodge or else you’re down to 50%, and the veteran mobs have two sets of HP.
They’re worse than Dredge.
Hope that’s not true.
Anet stated there would be no expansion in 2013, something I was very happy to hear as they need all the time they can get to finish vanilla GW2.
If this is legit, it seems like another forced deadline and definite bad news.
Keep in mind that 2013 in the calendar is not the same as 2013 in the fiscal year. Fiscal year varies by company. My company’s fiscal year ends/starts in February, for e.g.
What’s this snowflakes thing? I’ve been gone from the game for a while so I’ve missed a lot.
I just need all the help I can get farming T6 mats for my legendary and this would be an opportunity to get a huge amount of Heavy Moldy Bags. I just don’t want to you know, get banned and have it all be lost if I decide to farm this event for an extended period of time.
The snowflake exploit rewarded more globs with each step. So you could generate an endless supply of ectos. That destroy the economy.
I don’t see how this bugged event can approach anything close to that.
I don’t think it’s on par with godskull/snowflake exploits simply because those two had massive ramifications on the economy.
This bug doesn’t. Yeah, constant mobs are not good but people still get hit by DR. And if you have too many people farming it, mobs don’t spawn at all cause they die too quickly, meaning no loot. Not to mention only few servers are getting hit by it.
Crafting in this game is more tailored towards giving you levels than crafting items and selling them for good profit.
Might want to learn cooking. Very cheap to max out and it benefits all classes.
This game has no specific healing professions – the holy trinity doesn’t exist in this game. Each class has their own respective healing skills that vary based on weapon and traits.
Use the search function – no expansions are being planned at the moment, they are focusing on the current game
Fill up your alt slots and use them as storage
Or go spend them like they were designed
If you are farming them at that high of a rate that you need more space, then you shouldn’t have problems farming the dungeon if they introduce more items
Buy raw materials then refine it..
so copper ore – > ingots
I’m preparing for my 4th legendary and it will probably be Meteorlogicus – but I’m trying to hold out as much as possible, just incase they come up with new legendaries within the next 3 months.
Either way, nerf or no nerf, despite the graph provided by John Smith you still think ecto’s can be controlled.
That rumor is correct, this game is not based on gear grind.
It’s fairly easy to get max gear with the best stats.
In terms of WvW, there will be a big patch next Tuesday which will introduce some mechanics that will make you more of an efficient/better rounded player the more successful/dedicated you are in WvW, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you will be stronger than others.
I got about 1600 hours in game and I use my time to amass wealth. It’s my goal, and not many people share it. Other’s like to level up and gear their alts. Other’s like to get full achievements. Other’s like to contribute in WvW and train to become well-respected players/groups/guilds.
is there any point to taking down the big “world bosses”? They seem like awesome fights, but I am wondering if there is a reward for doing so (other than money)
Big world bosses reward items that can be sold for gold. So it’s purely financial reasons.
The five temples in game also reward items, but they also make karma merchants available where you can buy specific karma gear which would be your end-game gear.
One of those actually opens up one of the dungeons in game.
They do include notes, especially on their twitter feed
“We’ve updated the game for routine maintenance only. No content changes were included. ~RB2”

Yesterday. Very easy jumping puzzle that can be done in a minute.
Not sure when the last time you did a temple, but they do have better loot since the patch. At least two guaranteed rare items.
Oh, and everything pretty much drops a precursor. Chests, WvW bodies, chickens..
Sunrise.
I like to match my weapon with my armor skin, and I find bright/white/gold color dyes are better than anything dark, depressive and very emo.
Still think ecto price is being controlled?
This isn’t only limited to legendaries..
Please use the search function, this has been discussed a lot. There are many complications if such an item were to be introduced, such as effects on personal story.
Legendaries are confirmed to be boosted to be on par with ascended weapons, as per Lindsey Murdock.
When that happens, we don’t know.
The main reason why I don’t go to low-lvl zones is due to what Vayne said above – if there are places for better loot, I will go for it.
Low lvl zones only have a 50% chance of dropping gear close to my lvl, and 0% chance of dropping the highest tier of mats (which is where I get my money from)
If they were able to program the low-lvl events to give me 100% guarantee for mats near my lvl, then I would do it.
Either way, we’re getting a change in culling next Tuesday so hopefully we’ll see improvements.
BTW, the rotbeard chest rewards are pretty much the same as all the other meta event/dragon rewards.
So if you don’t have the time to wait out on bosses, go farm that chest.
I know one guy who has 10 alts and he farms it like mad.
Yesterday I got 3 rares so the loot is pretty good. Always guaranteed at least 2 rare items
Hopefully a wording error, you don’t want something that will prevent anyone from having it, you just want to ensure it isn’t so easy that everyone has it.
Been discussed multiple times, a dungeon, a scavenger hunt, a story line for the precursor, and possibly small amounts of other materials like I mentioned before.
World completion I think is fine as it is.
Sorry but all that is so ridiculously easy. That’s why I like having gold as a requirement. It’s a huge constraint that many people can’t get.
Would I like to have more skill in it? Yeah. But skill and MMOs dont’ go together to act as a constraint.
A dungeon on the scale of 40+ fractals is ridiculously easy? Right….
I’m not talking something that throws hundreds of trash mobs at you, or as I said, a boss with millions of HP and horribly over hyped damage, I’m talking something that actually requires you to cooperate with your team, and actually think about how you’re going to proceed. Not challenging enough? Res orbs disabled, no boosters, no food, no repairs. Nothing but, your group, and your gear.
So you’re going to design a dungeon that will more than likely have a chance at rewarding a precursor than the current precursor drop rates. That’s still too high.
Again, ideally you’d want to obtain a legendary through skill, but skill is very subjective and is pretty much non-existent in MMOs (other than in some instances of PvP). You can’t design a system that is difficult enough to reward precursors at a low % while also satisfying a large number of the population.
I can see it now the type of complaints people would churn out on the forums
“Dungeon groups won’t take my class cause we do bad dps”
“Dungeon is too difficult, please nerf!”
“Anet why are you allowing dungeon exploits?”
Gold right now is the best gated requirement since it’s more often than not a time investment in the game. Yeah, it doesn’t necessarily mean that person is skilled, but at least it rewards someone who is actually investing the hours in the game.
@nethykins.7986 @DarksunG.9537
To be honest, they announced already that the 26th is the patch for culling and other changes that are already done, I have no idea why not include them on the pre-patch notes so people can see them.
Meanwhile I understand something can get delayed, the subject that they already announced them and nothing is up yet, does not worry me, but something is not right either.
Why does it matter anyway? People keep making this type of thread before each patch. This is how they’ve done patches before. There is no benefit for them to announce something very detailed in advance when something can go horribly wrong and they have to pull back.
There’s a ton of benifit. Perhaps not in a raw physical form, but for ANet’s reputation on “priding themselves on communication” and getting people excited and drumming up that anticipation before a patch drops – tad more space for media coverage.
Because reading a 2 paragraph article on “Hey, so this patch is going to be dropping and everything is in vague territory”
…is not as interesting as…
“Hey so this patch is going to be dropping and here are the things that we and many have been exited about – item1, item2, item3”.Anet is well known now for its vague approach so it would be an improvement on communication and would be the start of better “messaging” in the grand scope of things.
That’s nice and all, but how about when they release these patch notes and then later say, “Sorry but because of complications we will be delaying X changes until a month from now”
Can you imagine the storm that would cause on the forums? People who get excited about the patch will now have to wait a month?
It’s bad enough we have people complaining about tiny little issues.
One of the devs already stated this is the reason why they don’t release pre-patch notes until a few hours before it hits. And I totally understand.
I’ve seen people claim good luck with 3 exotics + 1 Mystic Forge Stone
I tried that 10 times, got nothing good. Small sample size, though. Maybe it’s the ‘secret’ way to get a precursor
Why are you people having such a hard time with the thought of precursors in the Gem store?
They already are! People have boasted about never having to grind for the legendary(s) because they had a credit card.
What other people do shouldn’t matter to you.
And I don’t think you realize how much a legendary costs in real $.
don’t gamble while you still can! you’ll get sucked in!
The one thing that can definitely be said about maguuma, is that not in any of the weeks that we fought them did 1 person ever complain about nightcapping. Yak’s folks just don’t seem to understand how wvw works unfortunately.
You’re gonna need more experience in WvW if you want to throw out statements like that and expect to have any credibility.
If you care to examine my experience in wvw, I have several quite popular videos of wvw gameplay using my build that I designed specifically to be effective in wvw. Go ahead and look at the link in my signature.
Regardless of my experience, anyone that complains about nightcapping doesn’t understand how wvw works. This is a 24 hour game. Anet is not going to make special server tiers just so you guys get to fight just whenever you want to. Wvw never ends, and spotty coverage is part of the game. When we were fighting TC and FA, they had overwhelming map control/presence during the vast majority of the day. We didn’t complain, we just did the best we could and kept on trying. 24 hour dynamics is one of the most appealing characteristics of wvw, and I can guarantee you that anet will never change it.
And anyone who generalizes an entire server based on the select few comments by posters doesn’t understand how MMO’s work.
Is it fair to generalize a whole server because one guy exploits/hacks?
well yea i mean Anet must do something about these server alliances…
And you didn’t bother to mention why alliances are a bad thing.
Let alone, how would you prove such a thing?
Hopefully a wording error, you don’t want something that will prevent anyone from having it, you just want to ensure it isn’t so easy that everyone has it.
