humm… have any one heard of any HB nerf? as far as i know in betas it could almost one-shot ppl down and it still can.

i must admit that im surprised, i was expecting far worse.
Was also expecting some Warrior nerfs and the 50k bladetrail is still ALOWED (video here) but actually got BUFFED… i guess devs still play them as main so…
Also Bunkers are still Bosses that need a party of 5 to take down. I’m afraid of whats coming next…

Sure man I’m a thief and I could live with that change. BUT as you mentioned Rift as an example let me tell you that in Rift assassins have PERMANENT stealth and an in combat stealth with invulnerability in it. So yah if this comes to the thief in GW2 I won’t mind at all.
FYI, my assassin in Rift kills stuff in 1,5 sec (global cool down) with backstab + serpent’s strike.

Thieves die just as fast to other thieves, warrios, rangers and good Elementalists.
With the exception that good thieves just leave the fight if they’re going to die. Bad thieves go toe-to-toe until they get stomped.
Thieves never have to die unless they’re being zerged…and then only if they’ve blown all initiative, utilities, endurance, and are within 300-600m of a target with an immobilize skill.
for thoughs who say HB is easely dodgabe, try dooing it wile knocked down TWICE back to back for 6sec, would love to see that!
How are you being knocked down twice by one target who is using the greatsword?
Why are you staying knocked down for 6 seconds? Don’t you have a stun-breaker?

Steal is a 900m teleport. The only way you can dodge that is by luck. You can’t just dodge when they get within range, that implies that you know they’re going to use it as soon as they’re within range. That’s not always the case.
Good thieves do not just auto-F1 as soon as they get within range. Bad thieves do.
1st. I do use stun beaker but just like any other utility it has a cd.
2nd. I’m not complaining about the professions I mention just said they are as strong and can also kill glass canon builds is few seconds.
How do I, as a thief defend myself from such burst? If I see a thief or warrior comming at me I use signet of shadows to blind them (800 dist.) and I dodge towards them. If I don’t have the signet up I just dodge or use an evasive ability.
If I manage to avoid the cc → burst I win no doubt. If I miss and eat the bust I’m dead play. Simple and I do not play glass cannon btw I got some toughness and over 17k HP to PREVENT insta kills. Most ppl don’t care and run around with a lot of crit chance/dmg but are made of paper. Them come here whining blaming thieves for they’re own lack of survivability.

It’s possible to deal with them given condition damage builds with Poison and optionally Chill, and boon removal builds. The bunker builds (Guardian and Ele) are overpowered, but it’s possible to deal with in meantime.
both can remove conditions you know…

Hundred Blades is like a channeled skill. Backstab is a 1 hit wonder. Big difference in reaction times.
A HB you just look at some one and use it, BS you need to get in melee range (with 14k HP) get stealthed, move behind him and use the signet + BS. if the target moves, dodges or simply turns around there goes the BS down the drain.
Diferent reaction times?! after i told you the setup a thief needs to pull out a BS I think the target has a lot more time to avoid a BS than HB.
can you tell the difference now?
well I’m sure they will not buff PW so a nerf to S/P auto attack is expectable…
HB hits for 16k why aren’t you whining about it then? Thieves with wet paper cannon builds have 14k HP, do the math.

Well as a thief I can tell you that if cought off guard I can die in 2 seconds but when I’m down and ppl hit me instead of stomping it takes 6-8seconds to kill me.
I guess it’s just how downstate works for every one not just thieves.

Well in a-net’s eyes it’s a very well balanced ability that can 1shot ppl.
As for PW hitting for 6k omg OP got nefed to the point that auto attack hits harder…

if you are a glass canon do NOT open with your burst or you will most likely waste it and die horribly if he is a good player, just avoid being hit and let him waste his CD’s wile hitting him moderately saving init. THEN move in for the bust.
Short bow is your friend.
Kite them, dodge they’re slow animation abilities (they are deadly) and when out of endurance you have ability #2 from short bow that provides evade and jumps back.
If you see that he as used his CD’s and is half dead if you wish you can switch weapon for a faster kill, if not just keep kiting.
Also works very well with guardians, other melee thieves and engineers.
Hi, last week, by accident i sent 2 crafted exotic gear peaces to the wrong person.
Immediately sent that person another email explaining the mistake and politely asking him to return it.
At the same time I opened a ticked exposing the situation in a very detailed manner.
The guy was a recruit from my guild and he has been off line ever since and no one from A-net has contacted me nor return the items…
What else can i do to retrieve them?…

As for the Lord, Guardias, Warriors, Thieves, Ranges, Mesmers that i know of can solo them, probably more professions can i just haven’t seen or heard of them.
To solve this all you need is 1 person from your team to go there and kill him, to take down a Lord solo will consume most if not all CD’s and HP it should be an easy kill.
I get “one-shot” by warriors every now and them when I’m out of endurance or my utilities are on cd but I know that in a different situation, when I’m at 100% I can avoid it. Same goes for thieves, if I manage to avoid theyre initial burst they are so dead :P
I never burn my burst as opener cuz if the guy has 1 functional brain cell he will avoid it, I save my burst for 5-10 secs into the fight after he has used up some of his defensive abilities increasing my chances of landing it and finishing the fight.
Instead of wasting your time whining in the forum you should Play more, learn what each profession is capable of and specialy yous. Train yourself and make your own strategies based on your weapon sets (both) I use specific weapons vs some profession.

Lately I have seen ppl in spvp just running around naked, jumping and /dancing. I guess we just found one of them, no other way thoughts numbers would appear on someone’s screen.
Nice try though but a bit to obvious. You better start thinking about another lie to try and get thieves even more nerfed.

without down state you could still resurrect your team mates that died, no one is asking to remove the resurrection aspect of the game, the point is as I said before if you are with 2 other friends and encounter a grp of five guys but due to your skill or they’re lack of it, the 3 of you manage to take down 4 of them but cant stomp them fast enough due to be trying to take the last one down or have very low HP.
They will res up and kill the 3 of you that have no CD’s left and have very low HP.
in your opinion is is fair that after all that work you guys managed to take a larger grp down and then die not because of they’re skill but simply because they were more than you?
Wouldn’t you feel frustrated? having to kill the same guy 2-3 times in the same fight?
do you find this to be fair? You played a lot better kill them a few times then die and get stomped because they we more that you and not because they were better?
In PvP in general when a player dies he should die effectively. If so, the resurrection time should be decreased, sure, but this way it would benefit small scale pvp.
There will always be zerg thats impossible to prevent but small scale pvp would be much more rewarding than it currently is.

From the customer point of view it looks like they are more concerned about implementing new hair styles / fluffy stuff and nerfing what actually works…
Imo downstate should be removed from pvp all together and here is why.
Downstate encourages zerg and benefits the side with the biggest number!

In gw2 the 3 of us have manage to win versus bigger numbers but with downstate they have a huge advantage over us since they can quickly res each other, some professions can even res themselves quite fast and making us kill them over and over again until we manage to stomp.

well here some news for you, Warriors will never see a nerf wile most of the devs plays them as main chars.
As we all know, there are many bugs left in the thief profession to be fixed, instead, thieves get constantly nerfed due to heavy whining from bad players…
For example:
- Stealth: (yes again) as we know pets, ilusion/phantoms and chaneled ablilities folow the thief while in his endless 3sec stealth neglecting all chance of a surprise attack or escape. I’s been a known issue since beta and hasn’t been addressed yet.
- Poisons: Poisons applied to the weapons are wasted if you hit any ability (not just attacks)… if i wasted my poison on an attack ability that was dodged/evaded or simply by attacking the air i accept it but losing my poison buff my using a signet that grants a buff, or by shadow-stepping, or even my healing it makes no sense at all. Also known issue since beta and hasn’t been addressed yet.

The thief class (in A-nets description on the profession class) is suppose to have low survivability which they have, be able to go in and out of combat quickly which they also have, be a feared in 1v1 situation (most ppl just laugh at them) and be able to put out great amounts of dmg in a short time due to initiative to compensate for its “squishyness”.
Now here is the problem, the thief has mobility and lacks survivability but is suppose to have high dps to compensate. Basically the thief needs to avoid taking dmg and kill his target as fast as possible otherwise he dies easily. Many players have learned how do deal with thiefs because they understand how it is suppose to be played, others don’t and come to this forum begging for nerfs which A-net gladly grants.
By diminishing the thieves dps output / bust dmg it also diminishes its survivability, since thieves have such low survivability (and its intended to be that way) and doesn’t have enough dmg to kill its target fast, the thief will probably have to run away from the fight or die.
After seeing how A-net dealt with the Ranger’s Short Bow Auto attack “animation” bug i now expect every thing from them.
I’m no dev but i have some notions on programing and to fix this, again ANIMATION bug they had 3 choices
- The obvious one would be to remove a few frames from the animation to make it quicker and its solved (<15 minutes to do) maintaining the ability as it is.
- The perfect way to fix this would be to make a brand new animation (3-4h to do it approximately) maintaining the ability as it is.
- The easy way (as we well know) increase the casting time of the ability (15 seconds to do) reducing its effectiveness my 1/3 and diminishing its dps by the same amount.
Not to mention the blind nerf to PW that probably wasn’t even internally tested nor mathematically reviewed, you can tell just by reading this sub-forum.
After this “fixs” nothing surprises me, i will not be shocked if in a near future thieves suffer more nerfs to its dps (and by doing so, also Survivability)…
I just hope that this waive of whining on the thief sub-forum doesn’t spread to other professions sub-forums, otherwise the nerf bat will be spinning like a fan…

I cant control every thing that happens around me and for some odd reason i not always have an evade/dodge available. but pls feel free to make a vid of a full match, I would love to see your godness.
If A-net was coherent they should have nerfed the main burst from the professions to… i mean today i got pistol whipped 2x for a bit over 8k dmg (16 hits) in the same tournament o got hit by Hundred Blades 1x for over 12k (6 hits) Both with Quickness.
imo this nerf was deliberate and do not expect a buff to it!

I knew that and have been doing it for quite some time also if you have Shadow refuge you can do it in stealth if your Haste is on CD, last night i stomped 3 downed players one after the other in shadow refuge. This happened wile caping a supply camp.
SR is also good for resing friends wile both are in stealth or saving a friend from a stomp by stealthing them.
Besides the annoying channeled abilities flowing us though stealth also the enemy’s pets (necro, ranger, mesmer) also follow us though stealth and keep attacking though out the stealth duration…
