Yes it’s me. hugs Narsil* Now since we are from BP we tend to fight against 1v3 or 1v5 zerger warfare so all I can say make sure you have a very dedicated front line. Any staff meta would work but make sure your follow decent numbers and always remember that they have x3 to x6 our numbers at any given fight. So dying will happen unless you’re sneaky like Nam. We took NSP and SBI Bl with 25 in 4 rotations and died when we had to fight 70+ Sbi and clutters of NSP in EB. Gain 6 ranks in 1.5 hours.

Honestly as an ele the best thing is to have a balance build so you can weapon swap out of combat when needed. Staff when Stationary, DD when in mobile equal number and D/F when you’re fighting a group that are larger than yours. Focus alone has excellent defenses in group fights (allowing you to survive some very focus spikes before you bunny hop to safe cover like a tower or behind some big non squishy allies) and alone you can burst out condition builds via attrition but it’s slower.

I would wait till the update on April 15 to suggest which will work better armor and accessory wise. Honestly most fights are based on knowing your opponents and you can rarely rely on full zerker in BP, cause you’ll die. Unless it’s 1 year ago and we were number 10 and Ebay was still Number 8 and most of these silvers were still in bronze league (equal numbers not x3-4 population). We lack numbers but have seasoned players and never stick with one build since combat varies. It’s very static here after we lost Varlen almost a year ago, Kalkz, DTC and many numbers in hundreds (Most migrate to Mag, Black gate, Tarnish Coast or IOJ). Honestly it was Varlen, he was the player that unified the server’s wvw and pve to fight on a daily basis (but he was needed in irl).

Any who PM me anytime. Oh and I’m sure Sorrychief is much better than me in spvp he’s a mere 2 ranks from Dragon after the update. I’m still just a r 42, but playing 45 mins of spvp per day doesn’t really get you too far! But for me it’s about AP and part time wvw.

I held back as much as I can before giggling.

Fire: Blinding Ashes: Blind foes for 5 seconds when you burn them – cooldown 5s

Well use Scepter, the air and earth blind does the same thing via intervals.
And Focus mitigates lots of the damages via earth and Air off hand.
Also we have utilities to do that ( hint: reducing utilities cool down or increase duration of effectiveness.)

Earth: Stone heart – You cannot be critically hit while attuned to earth
Well if you can swap when you anticipate his cloak and Dagger or BS, having around 1700-1800 tough and 10 points in Earth already covers you fairly well.

Also if your an ele you know our trade Dodge roll and turn body!

  • Side note thieves will get a 50% reduction when cloak new grandmaster trait so that means you have fun bursting them when cloaked. yes they can run a 0 30 30 10 0.

The main issue is the designers had inadvertently allowed powered creep to take place. How, by rounding out other professions weakness, via traits, skill changes or runes. Eg: Warrior’s get a 25% movement boost trait for equipping melee weapons or traveler/ Speed runes, Perplexity runes and so forth. I know ele’s can use it to but simply less effective and more effort.

Developers are trying to balance other profession out but if you balance them won’t they just become a rich man’s elementalist and an elementalist stays poor.

So he are the fun facts still low hp, low armor, lack of escapes.
Guardian has armor + hp now + burst
Thief + Escapes
cloaks

Main issues are still not being addressed the entire trait line needs to be readjust or the cool downs need to be adjusted in skills and utilities.
I suggest let us have some new mechanics that won’t replace existing ones that limit our survivability or damage or mobility.

Rangers are given a cloak in longbow that’s way off topic but you gave them an active cloak.
Engi, ranger, mesmer, and thief can cloak to disengage. We want one too!

Easiest fixes. revert cooldowns in RTL and decrease arcane and cantrip cool downs and give us those stun breakers back.

I went off topic but new traits is like giving you kitten mail in rebate when it cost $5 to ship it.

I heard Arenanet doesn’t support power creeping…. I think elementalist got nerfed via other professions buff.
Don’t worry brothers and sisters it just means our victories will just taste better. Spvp should be ok will the healing restored a tad but WvW please use caution! Good luck bursting a cloaked thief with 50% reduction haha.

I assume 85% builds for ele’s would still be the same…. sigh Anet. Why don’t you ever read ele forums, hope you don’t nerf water and arcane further to force us to play the weaker builds.

PS: Pew Pew sounds equals + 3 to creativity!

Yeah class I normally defeat with no hesitation are guardians, rangers, and eles.
If I get the drop first thieves, necros, engis, mesmers.

Warriors are more based on build (Armor weapons, wvw stacks, food/oil, guild and world buffs) less than skill. If my fire grab that hits for 8k-11k hits only like 2-3k on a warrior with 26k hp and his regular attacks hit me for 3-4k > I’m dead with 15khp even with stacks. Yeah I have around 1.77 to 1.9k tough depending on armor set or sigil, while still maintain around 39% to 45% and crit damage at 96 before fury on attunement or food. Go ele T_T !

Yes 0 20 0 20 30 is the pew pew build for dd ele and you don’t feel to kitten soft. I suggest Hybrid accessories like ascended berserker amulet and a ring and the rest can be cavalier. Ascended jewelry are much cheaper then armors and have way more status. Also I heard rumors that Anet might allow us to craft them soon
For armor chest and pants I kept Celestial while the rest PVT. You can Divine, Eagle Scholar, Traveler what ever you like I use double Bloodlust Beserker Daggers to build stacks on little critters. Then swap to Ascended (Battle sigil)Cavalier main hand and a celestial off hand daggers (Superior Accuracy). I kept a Focus off hand to roll around inv in the big fights and to reflect conditions, when at times LF is not possible to CE the mob if we lack people. And staffing when detouring a zerg when hiding in an unreachable choke point.
I suggest having fun while you are win or getting overwhelmed just laugh it off. Hug your cute ele

Lightning Flash should be a blast finisher

Lightning flash needs to be a stun breaker and a 2 second stun.
Arcane Shield should be block all attacks for 5 seconds or block the next 3 attacks no time limit.
Arcane Wave should be a stun breaker and an aoe launch.
Mist Form should be like retro mist from (you can heal or utility skills).

Would be fun but fun is overrated.

Only from a D/D or D/S point of view.
I’m a rank 41 elementalist I can fight against rank 40+ guardian and thief as a bunker. But the other team’s warrior/guardian/ranger/mesmer can fight like 3 other guys just like me with less effort. I mean eles are fine but not face roll delicious like a some of the other classes. I’m looking at you rangers stop whining you’re tanky fine.

We just need the healing power corrected, CD fixed on some utilities and have stun breakers back on cantrips.

An easy fix would be giving us a Sword (main hand) and design it as a melee 1v1. Its damage would be between staff and scepter level single target damage and much more delicious. This way basic attacks can be corrected while not being too overpowered via multiple attacks. If you want to make it fun give us a 10 second cloak in between as a skill 3.

Elementalist can use a boost like retro cantrips with 35% cool down increase, stun breakers ohohho and cloaking. Eles are fine but most classes have uber face roll builds. To solve this give us a main hand sword that only attacks one opponent at 600-800 range. The damage should be staff or higher like in guild wars and cloaking every 10 seconds hahahahahahahahaha!

I have over 16k achievement points, rank 41 spvp (over 30k kills), rank 377 in wvw (over 14k kills) mostly from roaming since I like cheese. I live in Borlis Pass, have all professions leveled 80 and exotic/ascended geared. Look me up and we can talk about kitten topics.

I run a 0 20 0 20 30 in wvw on D/D.
Armor: Chest and pants celestial Head/shoulder/hands and toes can be soldiers to retain tough and HP and steady power. Use divinity runes if you already have it or travelers or Eagle or Scholar or Speed since vitality and speed boost is cheap and nice!

Have full stacks guard and offense in wvw and use dual bloodlust beserker daggers to get 25 bloodlust after killing 13 npcs or creatures. Then roll the build below which I always preach since cantrip nerfs earlier this year.

Switch to D/F in group fights if dealing with heavy conditions or in like 10v15 or a 15 vs 25 or a 20 vs 30. If the fight is more even and you have 20v20 you can just D/D it and burst around aoe 3k-5k on chain Down like 4 -5 guys in 2-3 elemental chains with a coordinated team not on TS or it would be way easier.
If you get focus fire you’ll die if in DD from 2 -3 sources of condition spikes along with a warrior hammer spike. 1v4 is hard to shake off but in D/F it allows you to avoid the condition damage however you spikes is reduce to 35% but you have survivability. Hopefully your team last a long as you and crush the zerg.

I play 1-2 hours everyday in spvp 5v5 or 8v8. I don’t feel comfortable with Team anymore since everyone always TS now lol. No skill req being a puppet on voice spike lol.
Been a DD ele since beta and never stopped Just know when not to engage and run like a kitten. And that even if you down one thief in a 1v2 thief fight. Murphy’s Law states a Hammer warrior will stun you from behind and necro will fear you off a cliff.

D/D roaming in WvW listings from safest and predictable to unorthodox and omg lots of conditions to spam at me via risk, Length of the battle may varies but doesn’t mean it’s harder.

Guardian
War
Thief
Engi
Necro
Mesmer

Spvp varies more on Build vs Build, reflex vs lag and profession advantage. WvW has much more variables, more space and time for enemies to cd. Either stages of combat are far from balance in the game, expectation of game play varies on how anet views each of its professions role.
I can say playing d/d ele has a great risk vs reward feel, rather than other profession. Who thrive with key builds to overpower and destroy other profession via dualist builds.

PVE you can roll any build. Dodge is much more important in Spvp or WvW. Arcane is a must you duke it out with real people in close combat based scenarios. Also flip the kitten and pat the bunny.

Travelers are the hot rune.. if you want speed and viability use Rune of Speed. It’s a lot cheaper. Slap it on a guardian or a thief just for fun and see.
For DD ele
0 20 0 20 30 is still fun. I use celestial chest/pants, Pvt head/shoulders/ shoes and gloves with Divinity (Doesn’t really make a diff you can use Eagle, Scholar or Speed so you can drop air sig) ascended cavalier dagger with Sigil of Battle while the off hand is either/ ascended celestial superior precession Dagger/ or beserker with Bloodlust to build up might and a Focus with superior precision to fight in a close battle of 20v20 kinda battle.
Ascended Trinkets I used berserker necklace, cavalier rings and ear rings and berserker back.
Sigil of air is a nice blind for an easy stomp/ speed boost/ break stun. Well just roll off a ranger when she uses her down stun. Cleansing Fire is a must… who doesn’t bring condition removal in wvw or spvp. Last spot you can use Lightning Flash , armor of earth (it’s not as viable anymore with all those conditions now or sig of fire. Guard leach, Guard vitality, food, oil, I my base cc is from 50-55 and when I attunement swap or use an aura I have 70 to 75%.. So it’s quiet beast with 1680 to 1750 tough. use Earth sigil if you want more defense, your going to roll around 1900 tough but that’s not viable in a condition fight.
AIR I and X
Water V and X
Arcane II VIII and XII
Have fun and use your best Judgement. If you die….. I don’t know you

Warriors can be pesky. It varies on players skill, build diversity, foods and situation and prior update. I either kill them in 4-5 elemental chain swaps or we fight like for 15-20 mins. I whip around 1.8 to 2.5k constant on most wars. The tanky ones that have guild buffs, food and gear I can hit 800 to 1k.
I won’t die unless if I run or someone joins the fight like a friend BS for 8k on me haha. Yes even highest BS on hits me around 8k sadly I only have around 15.8k hp and with stacks around 19-20. My 25 stack of blood lust and food can burst people pretty good. I solo wvw and I rank 275 on solo ele and 350 on my acct amongst war, guardian, thief, necro and Mesmer.

I’m a rank 40 in spvp and close to 14.5k rep points I jack of all trades. I’m well know as a cuddle D/D in spvp and Borlis Pass 4v4. DD ele with earth elemental can take a camp solo within 60 seconds to 75 seconds np without stacks. Staff ele’s are great I staff if I have too to control large chokes points via 20 v 40 fight and win or tip a scale. I can even go DF and burst into a zerg and survive downing 1-2 guys.
So its really based on are you prepare or caught of guard… and conditions are stupid. I defeat everyone variant of ele d/f, df/, sd ,sf, staff. SO Spvp 1-2 hours a day WvW 1-2 hours a day and pve 1-1/2 a 91/2 work day On weekends I can do like 7-9 hours easily throught out the day ha ha. Elementalist requires extra care but yield great enjoyments. SO

I use Divinity Runes on Celestial Chest and Pants( pants recipe is around 12gold or more) rest of the pieces I use PVT. Asceneded Beserker Amulet, 3 Cav accessories and 1 knight ascended. Ascended dagger Cav with battle and Ceslestial Superior Accuracy off hand or a Focus off hand Beserker with Superior Accuracy (The Anomaly buhaha cause it looks fuffy). Remember to use a beserker exotic as a off hand to stack Bloodlust. Then Swap back. This way with stacks from bloodlust, wvw guard stack, wvw offensive stacks, food oil, you roll super damage and run a gentle 0 20 0 20 30 or a 0 15 10 15 30 or super glassy 0 25 0 15 30. I like Stomp 12k crits with 70% crit as DD on burst with 100+ crit damage> I still die if I get jumped in a by condition spikes if not in focus mode. Focus is the best vs conditions and heavy zergs. D/D great for mobility and burst. Might go travelers I don’t think extended boon duration needed just the momentum or it becomes a crutch. I suggest lots of condition removals and no when to stand you ground and die or run if roaming.

For my d/d elementalist I use Ascended Beserker’s Amulet and Cavalier’s rings, earrings and back piece. Expensive, but for Armor I use divinity runes, Celestial chest and leggings / PVT for the rest. With a friendly 0 25 0 15 0 30. But you can use a 0 20 0 20 30 before December nerf. But the new game play after December I guess supports a condtion ele tank meta, which is why you have a con remover in fire tree minor and a nerf in arcane. Dire, cough cough is the key now.

It’s META Conditions Syndrome. Rather than nerfing it or buffing other play styles, elementalist are forced to become mini necro tanks. The new build the dervs rolling are supporting condtion tanks, losing water and arcane tree is no biggie for attrition warfare. Celestial/ Cav/ Divinity runes bleh, put that armor aside and load Dire/perplexity. That’s the new meta forced on for eles, spamable game play with less escapes cause you just sit and tank long enough to overwhelm foes with perplexity. I’ve tried those viable build stated when Perplexity runes first came out on necros and engis. But you lack condition removal .. and becoming the enemy is just silly.

I can still run my fun 0 25 0 15 30 build.. with difficulty but I’m sure I can continue to defeat all ele’s in spvp and wvw 1v1. Staff, Scepter or DD. But after the nerf I might have to try a little harder Yes you heard me. I support the arcane tree hehe. Yes I use to roll 2-3 people prior october 2012 in wvw with 0 10 0 30 30. But that wil never happen again haha. At most a 0 15 10 15 30 is quite great conservative if you have 5 vitality stacks. (Yeah Iike Jetstorm’s build, but still hate FA’s numbers over skill) Not sure why you guys nerf arcane since your putting in 30 points to get the results of 20 lol. I know with the builds anet is generally try to rework everyone styles to theirs. I was from guild wars 2005 beta and on ward. So I do support divisity but you just closed a door an opened a window. 1v1 any time just pm me or jump me in wvw or 8v8 anytime. Yes and ele’s had lots of freedom back in the day please ask Izzy I’m sure he’ll give a nodd. Yeah I know he loves mesmers, necros and engis. Btw not sure if I can take your Genius Engi in Yaks after this nerf. He’s prety tough and careful. Lost in ele mobility means I’m duck to him.

December 10th Elementalist changes

Nerfing arcane traits will only further weaken D/D ele game play in WvW and Spvp. Renewing Stamina and Elemental Attunement are bread and butter in dagger ele fuzzy math. So now I have to place 30 points to obtain what I currently can with 20 points. And by doing this we lose Evasive Arcana!
How is this helping elementalist add less points in the arcane tree?
Guess I just have to work twice as harder finding those red shiney tags in wvw and flagging them more often before this nerf.

I’m a D/D ele:
1. Elemental Attunement + Renewing Stamina is a core requirement (100% req) For close combat, evasion, and support.
2. Attunement Recharge Rate is a must since a cycle through attunements on a 9 sec interval to build up Sigil of Battle up to 14-18 might.
3. Evasive Arcana required for heals/condition removal, crippling and blinding.
4. Boon Duration

Analyzing inherent elementalist issues

WvW wise solo roaming and DvD logic application only and nothing else.

We are balance but have no specific faceroll build like most other profession via direct 1v1 or 1v2 and a get out of jail free card. We use too. That is what everyone is talking about. Ele’s are balance but like an average warrior or thief build, not like a 1v1 spec build. We need around 1600+power, 1700+ tough, 1600+ vit, 1700+ power and 25-35% crit + 65 to 100 crit damage to power stomp someone to the ground. Your primary heal or utilities need to be change to fight a tank class or a heavy condition spec opponent. You need to mirco manage a lot know when to run when that guy facing you is your anti build. Also 30 Arcane is great but sometimes you have to let that go in WvW drop to 20 Arcane and rely on a roll with out bonuses. You can’t take condition focus fire from two seperate sources or one spamming perplexity. You can’t take a Thief back stab while fighting tow other people like a warrior or retro ele. You can still fight, down but not flag or finish off mutliple people running non exteme1v1 builds. So Anet is right we are balance, so you have to do double the work, fairly top gear, be almost 45% more skilled then your opponent to beat them. Good luck if your just a bit better than them cause one wrong more you’re dead. Didn’t I mention we don’t have an escape cards like other profession when they fail to win in a fight. Better fight close to that shiney tower door or hop off a cliff cause that’s your card.

I run this Fresh air kitten build in wvw on my DD. It’s not original it’s the meta for S/F minus a few changes. Changing out Signet of Restoration or Ether Renewal depending on your opponent if it’s crit/tank or condition spike/tank. It’s a failry conservative build so you can change our Signet of Air to Signet of Earth or Arcane Wave/ or heck even Mist Form. Personally I like the slight speed boost/break stun (Basilisk Venom ) or blind if I couldn’t dodge. And blind is fun to use to prevent condtion skills, stuns or spikes from happening. Same with the arcane shield since mist form is rather mediorce now. Well I guess this isn’t bunker and some may call this a crappy build. But I find it too my liking 1v1 roaming And if you want a Perplexity build you can just get a exotic pvt armor set and perplexity runes to it. Add 30 to Earth using VI IV XI. Since ele’s can never pure condition tank but a hybrid has awesome mix results. Your condtion damage is around 780 and Battle Sigil helps either build + stil have 60 crit damage from Ascended Cavaliar Gear. But you can still die easily if you get focus spike from multiple enemies, especially conditions ( Perplexity). Please critize this build. Cause I change it skills or gears with this all the time. I have 2 sets of ascended trinkets and 4 armor sets to play around with. Element of surprise, super reflex and when to run away like a little bunny is required.

All I need is the old condition removal cool down traits to fight off Perplexity condition spikes in wvw. Any other build that’s not heavy condition spiking via upper tier necro or mesmers with food buffs and so forth. I think the annoyance is due to the fact of DD’s in wvw are facing tough and condition spec spikers.

1v1 wise Elementalist are fine in Spvp, since it’s more regulated, no oil/food and you don’t gears are more specific. But in WvW it’s entirely different, as roamers our power have been greatly nerfed since our AOEs are OP where in a 5 person party or in a zerg. It’s more to fact that we can’t take direct player focus fire rather than mob focus fire. I can solo (as in agro everything) a camp and KO all npcs with in 70 to 110 seconds. I can dash in a wvw 4v4 and crush the opposition in 2-3 chain combos. However, when alone in wvw I can beat mediocre builds that are not specifically designed to crush some one in 1v1. Most of those videos are Spvp or Eles in groups with little support or geared to fighting inexperienced enemies. Or Ele’s soloing non spike class with rather high survivability. For example: after 2-3 mins of fighting I can down Guardian at Legend rank in tier 3-4 servers with lots oils and food buffs vs ele bunker build and a 5 copper bun. Necro condtion tank spikers and Mace and Shield /Great sword can face roll me in wvw. So I believe this underpowered concept is in wvw and it’s hard to fix. Don’t go at it alone in some circumstance and know when your build can’t defeat the opponent’s meta build and run like a bunny. This is purely my observation in WvW as a solo roaming ele.
