Technically ele have no direct 1v1 counter.. We are just get jumped often before finishing our 1v1 by a Celestial Rifle Engi, Double Condi Engi, or terror mancer. They can rip us pretty fast if we are less than half health, in cool down and preoccupied.

Then your team will blame you and say your an ele last match you held center 1v3, but how the hell you get wrecked so easily since you just lost to a 1v2.

Then you respond and say, "Hey******** ****** * it’s 400-200 can you four guys just fight on points… this is just hot join relax! :P

Usually if you unrank or rank with common players or guildies they understand better.

PS ele’s that die in wvw vs PD thieves general only use based meta builds neglecting the joys of healing power. Any happy D/D ele should have healing power of 500 and above is great. Eat a Saffron Bun and sport Hoelbrak set. Ands ps use the Conquest meta and not the WvW meta for D/D . That meta is older… prior nerfs… elemental shielding is your friend. And since you use 0 0 266 you can switch out armor of earth and use sigil of air. For roaming that should be enough. But if an experience Havoc team in wvw comes at you with 7 players vs you alone.. .well hahahha! Run or Die.

I’m an ele main and I play warrior secondary… I love warriors they have their own strengths and weakness like an ele (aka rolling taco). And I agree Spvp limits the greatness of warriors since they are a very stat based profession you may find that your build in tspvp would be limited compared to wvw.

I would suggest you guys telling anet to allow spvp stats to be split like before aka the Gem and Jewel stat ratio. That should help warriors who rely on more than 3 stats…. Most warrior stats if not bunker relies on 4 stats and well celestial just makes you puppy weak… even if your an ele.

I assume if an elementalist uses sword main hand, she/he will lose distance closing skills on main hand dagger like Burning Speed or Magnetic Grasp. I hope we get at least one aura with sword main hand… but that’s just being too greedy:)

Just give us quick 1 skill attacks to spam and my ele would be one happy camper. If you fear power creep make us hit only 2-3 targets instead of 5, but please don’t nerf casting speed.

Neh you can win 1v1 against all the condition metas and everything in existence when full stack with wvw offensive and defensive guard buffs and food. It’s skill base and believe me you can beat them all.
If they jump you when taking a camp so you are fighting npcs and a PU Mesmer and you stay in the camp and lose that’s one story. Or you get jump by 3 thieves and down 1 , well good for you. Keep in mind if a bunch of people are camping you with team havoc team builds you will die. Even two very coordinate metas will kill you in time.

Another day was fighting a d/d ele got it down to 50% hp, a thief jumped me and burst him to down state ele is back to 75% hp. Then a mediation umped me full stacked and evade fought of both them then a hammer warrior jumped in got me down to 25% hp. I spammed cantrips getting around 45% hp back and made a run for it before a zerg jump down from enemy starting point and chewed me down. My ele exploded in a second following three people angrily jump on my body from SF server.

Ah the life of an elementalist roamer….. Also roaming means solo so if you saw more than one person even in the background of a vid well… not roaming.

Wow those guys really terribad!!! Why are they so bad…. I mean keep up the great work farming those very bad players. Wait are you farming bad euro server players clever! In North America the results may very at most beat out bad players 1v3 or 1v4. But most people in NA are Phoenix to Dragons or Upper Silver, Gold or Platnium that roam, 1v2 at best vs top tier.

Yes, since strength runes were nerfed! And if -40% con food is pricey just used that -20 condi and %20 damage while stun, knockback or knockdown via Loaf of Saffron Bread. It’s cheap and super effective in wvw.

LOL Earth was hard damage and constant knockdown mostly to a single target. You can knockdown every 3 seconds at 900+ guild wars 2 range mechanism while spamming weakness and take less that 10% damage from spikes. Air was about armor penetration and blind equivalent to retro S/F formation. Fire was either aoe group spike or continues damage with mindblast builds or Searing Flame aoe spikes. Water was mostly for gvg to maintain wards and slow people down in HA via relic runs.
Lots of great memories 20-30 viable builds to play easily for each profession.

Ele was changed to free kill for awhile but people who stay playing an ele for 5k hours plus maintain the ele popularity. Please don’t nerf it, we are about balance and sustainability that’s what this class was about. And now people are making all classes an ele but wants to maintain high damage, health/armor, more power utilities. Well throw me a carrot and call me April.

Ele was only mediocre during a year since Anet nerfed signet of restoration to do half the healing it did in pve/wvw. Since they fixed that it’s ok. People just upset since we have a viable build if they only look at meta battles they can see how more viable builds are out there for everyone. Our lack of stability is still a big issue being an ele and cantrip nerfs.

I suggest to bring all range of weapons and with at least 2-3 variations that goes with armor too. Rotate as it seems fit based in wvw senarios sometimes you have to help to destroy projectiles, sometimes your strangle points is a breached tower or keep. Staff is mainly mobile choke point spikes and if you aren’t direct focus fire continuously and have team 15+ and vsing an enemy force 25-40+..
All I can say each weapon is best vs each scenario if you want to generalize D/D but in different outcomes a d/f can out perform it by or lets say staff. So pre equip d/d but have weapons to change when scenarios vary?

What we need is to know when will sword skills be released for our class lol.

My cat is a bunny. I mean yeah why don’t you just roll meta spvp for build and zerker armor with hoelbrak and have a Str rune set too. Have a mixture of cav and zerker accessories. I have 4 sets of accessories to mix and 6 armor sets with odd modifications. Battle with Knight is ok and a or with Blood lust in spvp use Doom for offhand dagger. In wvw roaming Meta lacking when you have to fight 1v3 or 1v7. I enjoy d/d front line bursting a zerg line or using staff to counter a zerg line. I can maneuver through a zerg with 0 0 2 66 easier than with 0 20 66. You lose 10% damage but greater sustain.

It’s also team play you can’t blame all experience on yourself. So with the new unrank matches, fights it’s kind of wonky. You get mixed in with pve players and different level of pvp players. I could hold 1v3 in middle for 40 seconds while my team 2v1 far and 2v1 home and fail. So meh…. Or you hot join and get swapped when your team closed to winning. Best part is you join to help a 3v5 team and hell it’s not worth it even if you bridge the gap to under 50 points your teammates leaves close to the end.

The moral of the story is many factors effect ones game play and since an elementalist has less armor, hp and can’t 2-3 shot people there is a certain level of trial and error.

I suggest playing bunker first to get a feel before shed of those shackles and go for burst. I celestial is to soft for you use soldiers in spvp with str runes of melandru or hoelbrak till you feel better. Do some hot joins first you can change gears when out of combat to find your feel. Again its team play in spvp and knowing when your opponent’s spikes are all refresh and ready to hit you. Pounchin on people and disengaging is the best part of being an ele. Also in spvp when you are holding points you should never ever lose to a theif in 1v1 as a d/d even vs top 50 in North America. Your protections, stuns, chills and burns should easily force him to leave point or vise versa. But again if you get jumped in a while 1v1 and you were distracted and it happens.

Dying is ok. Defining whether you got outplayed, build vs build, zerged, or just messed up in matches is the most important.

Elite’s in high level spvp is useless via dps since most people are hybrids/conditions mighty stacking tanks, power healing tanks, glass cannons spammer that hides from direct battles, lock-down condition spikes and old meta. So if you ever lost to my elite glyph lol. But for annoyance purpose earth and water is ok. Even with bunker and using cleric I never can never crunch out a 6.8k heal from water elemental. Any Thief can easily 2 shot fire or air elemental instantly.
But as a d/d ele you can easily win 1v1s or disengage from them. Also you can hold 1v2 or 1v3 reasonably if there are no lockdown Mesmers. Ele’s are alright in spvp not with omg insta kill damage but with burst and plenty of buffs and heals.

Anet just don’t want to make another meta god skill Elite by accident where you can spam, an easy button if you may.

What? who runs celestial in wvw, when you have so many variations to play cough cough 7 armors sets. In spvp if you run Cleric with Hoebrak runes on a 0 20 6 6 it’s quite fun even with 13k hp. Celestial is only popular in spvp after crit nerf and the removal of amulet and jewel split via stats. many builds were limited since you lost 1/2 of the variations. Zerker Amulet + Valk or PVT jewel was delicious! The game lost its build diversity when conditions builds and might stacking power/hybrid builds were favored over the nerfed crit style game play.

Then again I miss guild wars 1 which was a very beautiful game with many build variations and different pvp, gvg and pvx.

D/F in wvw or spvp with healing, condition and tough stats are pretty fun. And that’s why I have 3 main variation ascended sets and 4 exotic armor sets and 4 sets of ascended accessories. Ele’s are great, never stop short on one build. or weapon set.. the sky is the limit. We aren’t as cheese as some professions but when trait a specific way certain scenarios would be much easier then others. DPS is a variation and doesn’t determine the effiency outside of pve. Also as I read more forums from other profession. Ele’s actually don’t QQ much compare to the tiny nerfs other profs get.

Dominik and Narkodx are right. I strongly support them.

I run warrior since beta and I feel them to be quiet fair just run 6 0 0 4 4 gs/bow or Ham or Axe/Shield. Use Ascended Zerker gear with Str runes or Hoebrak or Rune of Pack. Fusion with Knight/Cav accessories. It’s very fun! And yes if I can get a champion shadow to eat my full one hundred blades that’s the reason for nerf. In wvw it strikes with 8k-12k and 13-17k with full stacks. A beautiful 4k with f1 gs so yes that’s why nerfed. You can GS and Bow 14-18 stacks of might easily.

I also champion a D/D or D/F ele and is quite fear in 1v1 tspvp, hotjoin or wvw roaming universe. I can get 25 stack of might in the same time But team play is the best.

2426 hours on Ele since she’s my main. 192hour on nerco since I power level her and use her most for spvp and wvw. My acct is 4562.5 hours so I think my warrior has 900 hours and maybe couple hundred for heac remaining. I’d say it’s L2P and preference of high risk vs moderate rewards. Just have fun

Neh just roll and make bunny sounds, sig air is a good immobile breaker and blind. Rolling and or change attumentments to earth or water to active chill or air for stun. You could roll in point. It’s way easier to kill mediation guardian than a top 100 HamBow war. But you can take them out even as a D/D ele if you know when to dodge roll or break stun or to flip him. Rupts and flips work since D/D are based on atttrtion warfare and annoyance. I suggest maybe playing mediation guardian so you can understand or watch them in Spvp or Wvw

An easy way is play every single meta, every single profession in the game to become a super adaptive player and have mutual respect to all professions. (or to pretend to be one and dispense luke warm advise on ele forums… cough cough)

You’ll always have to adapt your base style or reaction to multiple enemies. Memories each profession builds’ strength against you, weakness and play style. Then go make a chart, feed bunnies or kittens that may pass by before assessing your own strength and weakness by song or dance… maybe both.

Then you go eat some pie or tip over random people outside your residents before going back to spvp. If you’re not killed by random chinchillas, please continue to spvp or wvw. You’ll notice that you should had stop reading long before the second paragraph…

I don’t mind the nerfs, but the elemental glyph elite is broken. It’s not what anet intended so I guess they will eventually fix it. They initially want to help us so we can use it to prioritize spikes or defensive measures like heals and stomps. But the lack of programing capabilities lead to this down fall aka error or bug causing this to interrupt our skill. I’m sure after 3-4 months of intense discussion they will either correct the error, or revert the elite or do nothing and state it was a for seen buff. But I doubt they will ever use three, give it some time guys.

You waited forever for them to revert healing in spvp…

D/D ele
Cheapest formula….. 02066 Knight Accessories, PVT armor with Rune of the Pack.
In wvw Knight accessories seems decent, and just coordinate you armor sets.

Sets if you have time.
Celestial chest/pants while the rest is PVT you can use Travelers or Rune of speed. call this a utility set since you can equip 2 cantrips and use earth sig as the extra utility or swap out of combat a frost bow to spazz on zerg or siege from a tower or so forth.

PVT Chest and Pants with the rest of the armor being zerker or valk. Use runes of Rune of Hoelbrak or Str runes if you really want to. Honestly the power diff isn’t too much. High risk and damage best for 1v1 or small battles between 20. IF you get focussed by 10+ you’ll go poof in seconds if there is no safe point for you to retreat to.

Or just go pure PVT armor it’s safer you can make a zerker armor but unless you zerging with superior numbers or a very strong front line you won’t be able to use it as well. For example if you team is 10 and you’re fighting 40 stay pvt and keep your tough around 1.7k above, eat mango pie, stack blood lust, guard stacks def and offense before you go. Most battles are won with a clear mind and being atleast 10 -30 seconds ahead of your opponent. If you get jumped by another opponent in mid fight reassess quickly weather to run or fight and watch out for the third. Sometimes it’s quicker to change targets and kill the person that had jumped in (who was expecting an easy kill.. lol).

S/F are the most fun to kill lol. If you are a D/D ele you wouldn’t die, since you would be use to dodging and counter attack killing the SF. In a minute, you’ll either kill her or she’d run away like a startled mouse. I also notice you’re a guardian so I bet you’re not use to dying or a dodging a quick spike chain like that. In wvw just use Conjure Frost Bow, you can still melt siege with it. I stand on edge of of the structure make sure you have stability ready and let loose volley of frozen kittens. Rinse and apply pressure and once awhile jump down and harass with D/D mobility and spike. Yeah I can fight of 2 guardians on my ele or guardian and a warrior with caution. I just slip on a dire armor with perplexity and laugh, eat a mango pie and some oils. Keep in mind I have full wvw guard defense/offense and 25 stacks of blood lust. (with ascended gear) On the BP server you fight 1v2-3-5-7-20-40, un like larger servers we lack the commodity of numbers

Are you telling you don t use elemental or grenth with DD?
If so you are giving up a lot of potential.

Also maybe is true a guardian can’t beat an ele in 1vs1.
Its almost true that they will ignore and outrun you in WWW (yes even guardians can).
And if you find some guard roaming WWW builds you change your mind.

I playe also Ele since release and i don t agree with anything you say.
The differences between WWW and PvP that makes some strong builds in one weak in the other, have been discussed quite a lot lately and seemed people started to understand….

Starting from a 30% (or more) stat increase making burst professions stronger, to the different win conditions, and the need to kill fast….

I must admit, by the way, i don t consider GvG or Dueling, part of WWW since they have rules decided by players that are not part of the gamemode itself.

If you browse PvP section you might find few really nice posts about it.

Oh I’m a champ Magus in spvp former top 200 in solo Spvp and top 300 in team spvp. If I spam Engi in a 5 marches I can go to top 100 but Lol. Ele’s are fine.

People need to ask anet to make FGS into a small kitten so you can ride it. Maybe transform tornado into a cloud bunny that throws elemental carrots at people. I’m sure that would resolve the issue. Also the kitten should purr very loud as it hops into battle and the bunny needs to have very soft fur. I’d pay 9000 Gems for that.

Here’s a cheap low cost alternative to a d/d ele solo roamer build. Pack is ok.

I use hoelbrak and more zerker but that’s my preference. While this is just generic, feel free to use exotic. There is no trick being an ele just how much you are willing to pay for buffs or would you like to have blood lust in the formula. At most under 7 builds + another 3-4 if you tweak minor skill trees, and like 7-10 if you want to poke fun at runes and stats variations. The most important fact is no your limit and play with caution, no build can defeat all possibilities of players or their builds.

Ele’s are great but mistakes and lag can still kill you in wvw, less in spvp. I have 2246 hours as a DD ele alone and 4248 hours across my account. I only play guild wars 2 part time and have 40hr+ work week and I’m not younger like the games majority.
You win some you lose some, when you have stacks in wvw it’s helpful but thieves do tend to reset often. It’s based on skill, build, and scenario. In spvp D/D eles have a higher chance to win vs thieves in theory. In wvw it’s based on foods, oils, stacks wvw buffs vs terrain. The larger the open area and lease desperate the thief is the more he or she will gain the upper hand. Closed areas like 1v1s in wvw fights or an area with a wall you have a higher chance. Again don’t get greedy and make a mistake cause the thief is waiting for that. And time is only in it’s favor. In spvp I rarely get an issue since its capture the flag base fights and your pretty much force the thief to get aoe when he wants your point. It’s those bunker engis with their elites that force you off points. lol

So just have fun take your time and learn. Also it’s easier to learn to fight well in lower silver servers since you always fight 1v2 1v3 1v5 and flee from 40+!

Oh my build that was linked was for hoelbrak runes and different minor water trait to combat minor condition spikes.

I use 5 armor sets varying from each situation. Even my celestial is just chest and leggings only. You could PVT the rest of the little armors and use fusion of cav accessories with zerkers, but that was half a year before crit nerf. So now I only use my celestial hybrid set with travelers to either equip frost bow in dungeons and still be fast or so I can swap in a random utility to be fancy.
I even use a silly build like in wvw to troll havoc teams picking on uplevels or pve mappers. Be close to a tower to flee. Since 1v3-5 is not fun.

But I like Quakeman’s build more since more viable price wise extra tough and vitality is great. I find travelers is fun (but it’s pricey and crit was nerfed) since you switch in more utilities with out losing mobility but stun breakers are nice. I miss the old stun breakers build into cantrips.

It’s fun if you time it well with a chill combo, forced your opponent to use up stamina or in team fights. You also have to make pew pew sounds or you’re doing it completely wrong. Worst case is when you’re fighting veteran eles, it’s almost useless since they will clear it easily. So make louder pew pew sounds next time, Anet confirms that you will get a 0.005% succession rate increase!

Main hand Sword should only hit one target thus justify it’s existence resembles Mesmer’s Sword (it doesn’t hit 3 targets) and attack as fast as Necro main hand dagger and with its range.

Fire
1 : Fiery Slash: slash your foe dealing 200 damage
b: Fiery Gash: burns your foe 1 second.
c: Fiery Stab: stabs your foe for 270 damage and gain 1might for 1 second.

2: Incendiary Bonds : dashes forward (range: 600) to deal 2 stacks of burning over 3 second (1968 damage) to your foe. If foe suffers from bleeding, foe is Immobilize for 3 seconds. 10 seconds cool down.

3: Star Burst: deals 336 damage and launches nearby foes (radius 180 and launch: 400) 30 seconds cool down.

Water
1: Fluid Slash: slash foe dealing 111 damage
b: Fluid Strike: strikes foe and gain 70 healing
c: Fluid Stab: stabs foe for 222 damage

2: Mirror of Ice: gain stealth for 3 seconds and regen 740 HP over 3 seconds when cloaked. 20 seconds cool down.

3: Winter’s Embrace: Pull your foe to you, chilling them for 6 seconds (range 1200), if foe suffers from burning, foe is dazed for 1 second after 6 second chilled duration expires. 40 seconds cool down.

Air

1: Lightning Flash: strikes foe for 230 damage
b: Lighting Stab: stabs foe, applying 6 seconds of vulnerability.
c: Final Flash: slashes foe to apply 380 damage

2: Shell Shock: Strikes foe for 503 damage. This skill is instant-cast and will not interrupt the activation of other skills. If foe was suffering from the chill condition, target becomes confused for 1 second. 10 seconds cool down.

3: Invoke Lightning: strike your foe with a flurry of sword strikes for 3 seconds ( damage (8x): 808), blinds the space around you every second for 3 seconds. 20 seconds cool down.

Earth
1: Granite Slash: slashes foe for 205 damage applies 1 stack of bleeding for 5 seconds.
b: Granite Stab: stabs foe for 3 stacks of bleeding for 5 seconds.
c: Granite Strike: Strikes foe for 205 damage apply weakness for 3 seconds.

2: Stone Striker: damages your foe for 405 damage, 4 seconds of crippling and 1 stack of bleeding for 12 seconds. If the foe suffers from blind you gain 3 seconds of retaliation. 10 seconds cool down.

3: Stone Sheath : a 3 second aura that blocks the next attack, while applying protection and stability to allies for 3 seconds. This skill is instant-cast and will not interrupt the activation of other skills. 20 cool down seconds.

I hope sword main hand would lead to the benefits of full rotations through attunements while working well with dagger and focus offhand.

How about combat gloves, so we can see beautiful magical handwork. However that would require animation, time and money so let’s say for budget wise, a spear. And to save time Anet could use other profession UW skills but mapped out for land. But that might not happen since we need Paragons for the Elona expansion.

It’s also all about timing and how flash your entrance was as you melt your enemies. Whether in pve, fractals, dungeons, wvw or Spvp (rank fights included) just play with caution, consideration and no your limit. Then people would say wow that elementalist was awesome and her hair looks so puffy. And honestly you did little to nothing with your little daggers and you get loot. In reality you done like 11 sets of elemental rotations and over 6 carefully places dodges.

In pve we had to use title buffs and Pve only skills. Hence Bear form nerfing! Certain build were viable but may not have been fun. But in guild wars 1 it was 100% team play, when not solo farming. For hardmode, heroes build a magical combination so it was team effort if you didn’t have real people doing those maps. Either way both fun…

Don’t be modest rank 53 is not kitten! You played and devote a good time in pvp and plus you have team work experience! If you’re in Bp I would want you to help guide our young ele! So guest over after April 15 2014 if you have time. Not sure what crit stats will work like.
